The choir of Kings College, Cambridge sing Stephen Cloebury's arrangement of the wonderful carol Silent Night during Carols From Kings 2009.
Could I ask that on Christmas morning we all share a thought for all those brave young men who, 100 years ago this year, put aside their differences and played a good-natured friendly game of football,all in the spirit of Christmas. And "at the going down of the sun....." on this particular day of this particular year let's all try to remember them

They had no differences, that's the point. It's all about governments wanting to rule over others. Soldiers are just the puppets for the masters.

I would rock my son to sleep humming this. Soon he would start humming along with me. When I think about it, it brings tears to my eyes. I believe this carol was truly from a divine inspiration.

I am certainly not religious in any way but your comment is nice to read . I always remember the first time my son told me he loved me when he was a little boy ...that really brings me to tears even all these years later.He is in his 30s now .
@@leenobody3249 When Jesus died for the sins of the entire world, there was no religion in that. Born again believers have a relationship with Him, not a religion. Religions are man made. That is so sweet about your son :)

Rest In Peace Sir Stephen Cleobury Director Of Music who retired in September and passed away 22/11/19. Amazing talent providing the soundtrack to Christmas for 37 years. Gone too soon.

A great song covered by many but only a choir can capture the real spirit of the meaning, Merry Christmas and a peaceful new year.
Today is May 11th 2014, late afternoon, and lo and behold this carol came into my head from nowhere, I knew then it was time to be still and to reflect on that holy of nights when Jesus was born and to capture the stillness remembered from childhood so many years ago. I'm glad I did, a small miracle occurred which probably saved my life. Thank you, King's College for your beautiful rendition of this perfect carol for a silent moment which can be listened to at any time of the year. Thank you.

Thank you God for giving us your son. As the world reawakens to your glory, I pray that the oppression of Christianity in Canada is saved by your grace. Our governments seek to ban us from gathering to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ under the guise of a pandemic and never in my life have I truly realized how much the freedom to practice my faith has meant to me. I pray that you help us to continue to awaken more hearts and to rise lions who will fight for your righteousness. Thank you for everything you have given to me in this lifetime: every burden, every joy, every pain, every moment. I realize now that you have always been working to draw me in towards you and I relinquish all of my fear. The "arrangement" is just Beautiful. It almost brings tears to my eyes, the story in the song is one we can rejoice about all year long, The music is not for our ears only, it makes my soul happy and it is rejoicing to the Heavens, Thank You Lord for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Music is music, it is beautiful whenever someone listens to it, this music is dedicated to Christ and the Lord almighty, im sure they would want us to listen to it and enjoy it every moment we can
Christmas eve mass, on my knees post-communion, singing softly along with the choir. The song becomes a prayer in that instance and I feel so close to Christ on the most beautiful night of the year. Thank you, Joseph Mohr.

King's College "rules"! back in my twenties I used to listen daily to their recorded EMI Britten's choral works and surely I was influenced when I found myself arranging "Silent Night" totally by chance... I hope that someone here will like that sort of surrealistic and slightly darkly onirical piano short (1 minute) piece :-) (the youtube title is "BIANCO NATAL - SILENT NIGHT (Arrangement, 1990)")
