    The choir of King's College, Cambridge sing Cesar Franck's well known setting of Panis Angelicus.
    This is taken from "Sacris Solemniis", written by St. Thomas Aquinas before the year 1274. It is the Matins hymn for Corpus Christi, the great feast of the Body of Christ when the Church turns our attention to the great Gift of the Eucharist. Jesus gave us this precious Gift of Himself so that He might always be with us.
    The English translation shown is just one of many interpretations of the Latin verse
    Panis angelicus
    fit panis hominum;
    Dat panis caelicus
    figuris terminum:
    O res mirabilis!
    manducat Dominum
    Pauper, servus, et humilis.
    Te trina Deitas
    unaque poscimus:
    Sic nos tu visita,
    sicut te colimus;
    Per tuas semitas
    duc nos quo tendimus,
    Ad lucem quam inhabitas.
    Amen.
    Bread of Angels,
    made the bread of men;
    The Bread of heaven
    puts an end to all symbols:
    A thing wonderful!
    The Lord becomes our food:
    poor, a servant, and humble.
    We beseech Thee,
    Godhead One in Three
    That Thou wilt visit us,
    as we worship Thee,
    lead us through Thy ways,
    We who wish to reach the light
    in which Thou dwellest.
    Amen.

    De rooms-katholieke kerk is door de eeuwen heen bron en inspiratie geweest voor de grootste en mooiste culturele, artistieke en kunstzinnige werken. Het ‘panis angelicus’ is een daarvan.
    Wij danken God.

    Catholics have always had the most beautiful sacred music and sacred art. It ain't by accident either!! God has given so much to the Catholic Church, and we have in turn, tried to show His truth, His justice and His love to our fellow man.

      I think Iranian music is more beautiful than Catholic music honestly. I think that God expresses through humanity exquisitely through all cultures because each person is made in God's image an likeness. God expresses through us and does not favour one expression of itself over the other 💜

    Mana devine hrana oamenilor.
    Pâinea cerului dă formă ideii.
    Ce minune, Domnul devine hrană
    celor nevoiași, celor împovărați și celor smeriți.
    Te rugăm, Doamne, Unul și in Treime,
    Să vii la noi așa cum te știm, ca sfânt;
    Cu sfatul tău conduce-ne acolo
    unde ne străduim: spre lumină, spre locuința ta. Amin!

      @iloveyellow They are; however, the College/Chapel was Roman Catholic when constructed (under Henry the VI). Henry the VIII exited the the Roman Catholic Church and started the Anglican Church after confiscating all Catholic Church properties (Abbeys, Colleges, Cathedrals, Hospitals, Orphanages, Convents, Mills/businesses, etc.). The lyrics to this hymn were written by Saint Thomas Aquinas, one of Catholicism's most influential philosophers, theologians, jurist, priest and Church Father. The music was written by Catholic French Composer/organist Cesar Franck. The song praises the Holy Eucharist which is referred to as "Panis Angleicus" (the bread of the Angles) which is believed to become the literal Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ through the miracle of Transubstantiation (Anglicans/Protestants do not believe this) and the consecration of the bread by the priest (which is in fulfillment of Jesus' command to his disciples at the last supper, "Do this in memory of Me").

      No there isn’t! King’s College is also home of The King’s Singers, an octet of young men singing well-known pop tunes & love songs all a capella. They are sharp! And their harmonizing is spot-on & they’re also from Kings College. This choir here is phenomenal & the professional filming like the spanning of the church & then zooming in on the angels that are sculptured there, was extremely well-done. Let’s hope it was done by some in-house students majoring in filming & broadcasting or photography & audio-visual geeks…

    «Panis Angelicus» (Pan Angelical) es uno de los cinco himnos escritos por Santo Tomás de Aquino para la Fiesta de Corpus Christi como parte de la liturgia completa de la Fiesta, incluyendo oraciones para la Misa y la Liturgia de las Horas. Realmente son las dos últimas estrofas de las siete de las que se compone el himno «Sacris Solemniis», que extraídas del conjunto se cantan como antífona. Los otros cuatro himnos escritos por Santo Tomás son «O Salutaris Hostia (Verbum Supernum Prodiens)», «Adoro te devote», «Pange lingua» y «Tantum Ergo» (en realidad «Tantum ergo» constituye las dos últimas estrofas del «Pange Lingua»).

    Fit panis hominum;
    Dat panis caelicus
    Figuris terminum;
    O res mirabilis!
    Manducat Dominum
    Pauper, servus et humilis.”
    “The Angel's bread
    Becomes the bread of men;
    The heavenly bread
    Ends all symbols;
    Oh, wondrous thing!
    It is the poor humble servant
    That partakes of the Lord.”
    Be safe. Be strong.
    ...
    We can overcome the pandemic.
