Creating virtual harddrives has been in windows since windows 7 - it's still there - It's in disk management. What has changed is that it's easier to get to it.
I am SO looking forward to taskbar labels being able to be un hid again. That is the most infuriating thing about 11 to me. I have been using the task bar labels for 30 years and couldn't deal with it so much that I paid for Start All Back just for that purpose! I make money off my computers and need them to actually WORK. My work programs really want to be updated all the time, so sticking with 10 messed them up. Only real reason I went to 11. They are much less buggy on 11.... Buggy as hell, but less so. Your videos have been a great help over the last couple years. Thank you.
Virtual drives already available on Windows 10 (Pro at least) from recollection. I used this feature a few years ago and yep it had all the settings available to create the VD's that were shown in the Windows 11 Beta Update today. It is there, you just got to know where to look. All the best peeps! Peace EDIT NOTE: Apologies as I just scrolled down and noticed similar comments.
From Windows 8.1 virtual drives were already embedded in disk management msc. In previous versions of windows if you mount a VHD or VHDx drive after the restart it isnt auto mounted. (i used scripts for mounting, the only method). These feature evolved or not in Windows 11 ??
Notepad and File Explorer have supported dark mode for a while now. This isn't new in 23H2. Nice to see they're adding dark theme to more apps though. Also, Task Manager has been dark for a while as well.
Virtual drives? That's going to be really useful! Side Note: It's really refreshing with a guy that actually goes through things and reviews them all the while having the bravery and the professionality to change his opinion. It increases your credibility a lot. Kudos!
Can someone explain why one would use a virtual hdd on my OS drive, over partitioning the primary drive and assigning it a different drive letter? aside from dynamic sizing. just as the whole vhd can be transferred, i'd think files and folders off a partition could also be as easily backed up or transferred. as for file isolation and protection, wouldn't any malicious modification to the vhd take out the entire drive, especially if BitLocker locked?
Features I'd like to see: First, the ability to turn off the "Recommended" section of the Start Menu and regain that space for pinned apps. At the very least, this should be a Group Policy setting for Enterprise and Education deployments. Second, the ability to revert to the classic right-click context menus as they are in Windows 10. As with the first feature request I mentioned, this should be possible via Group Policy for Enterprise and Education deployments at the very least. Lastly, I still prefer 7-Zip for all my archival needs. It's very small, lightweight, and free. It allows you to double-click-to-open files from just about every compressed file type in existence.
As a tablet user I'd like to add, on top of everything you mentioned, customizable gestures. The left swipe gesture is now basically useless since it opens widgets which I never use.
.vhd support was in Windows 7, it was just hidden behind the Disk Management applet in Administrative Tools. Windows 8 expanded on this and allowed you to natively mount .iso's and .vhd's directly from File Explorer and you could also eject these virtual drives as well. 23H2 did nothing more than add already existing functionality to the settings panel.
I think it is just made available with the Dev drive feature, which is the actual highlight. I agree creating and using vdhx is supported since years now, but it was kept for people who were using HyperV (Pro/Enterprise versions of Windows) and wsl, never for normal user.
RAR is a proprietary format under copyright, along with RAR's compression applications and libraries to Alexander Roshal, brother of Eugene Roshal. RAR files are the native format for WinRAR software and can only be created through this tool which is licensed to win.rar
Same scenario most likely applies to the background pictures displayed by Windows Spotlight. If they're not licensed for full public use, they won't ever be copiable.
I would love to see native support for editing the windows context menu. (Right click menu) There is so much in it that I would like to see just GONE without having to put up with the more options in the condensed view that Windows 11 forces on us!
💯 I've gone to the trouble of editing the registry several times recently to remove, add, and edit context menu commands. A native context menu editing tool would be an absolute game-changer
It's so easy to open the registry editor (windows key and letter r and type regedit) and add the key "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve" leave out the quotation marks. This will revert the context menu to that of Windows 10.
I'm a IT Security Professional and one of the biggest complaints i get from my clients is that FDE(Bitlocker) only protects the drive when the computer is shutdown. With this new feature, you can encrypt a virtual drive within the OS and you can lock it so if the computer is left on, no one can access it. This feature is truly amazing and needed badly. I'm glad to see that we will be getting it soon.
Bitlocker does protect the drive via TPM through windows hello. If the user leaves their self logged in while leaving the computer unattended…. We’ll bitlocker isn’t going to help with that. As for bitlocker not working at all when the computer is on… do you have documentation that supports this or are you just repeating rumors?
Data must be un encrypted for the computer to be able to use the data. When you unlock the laptop through the Bitlocker screen when you first turn on your computer, from that point on, the data is NOT protected. FDE(Full Disk Encryption) can't help you if you leave your computer on and leave it unattended.@@Zinojn
Windows has had VHD support as early as Win7. Adding the options in Settings is new as well as mounting via mouse. Also of note is its not just .rar (pronounced rawr lol) but about a dozen other compression formats being natively supported. I'm sure explorer integration will be worked out by release but then again sometimes MSFT takes 2 years to do the simplest things. Great vid btw. I like being able to see what's coming w/o having to open VMWare, update, then scouring the OS.
@@timothygibney159 Thanks for the precision. I've been using VHDs for so many years on Windows Pro and Education versions I never realized they weren't available in the Home edition. I was also thinking "What the hell that's been available for 15 years!" ;)
My genuine, biggest gripe with W11 is that I have to use third party programs, which often break btw, to re-enable taskbar movement. More specifically, having the option to use my task bar vertically, on either the left or right side of my screen.
@FlyingMonkies325 you may not see or understand why you need to move the taskbar but, if I want the taskbar on the left side of the screen, lets us pretend I have a reason, justification, need, want or not, about my comfort.
Been using it myself for a little while. I enjoy it. Dynamic Lighting does work well for me with my Razer Blackwidow Keyboard. I strongly dislike using the additional apps to control the lighting, having it be a part of personalization is a nice touch.
They don't give you the option to save the background of spotlight because you might decide to keep one image at some point. Spotlight is an advertisement. For instance, countries can pay MS to display their own places for touristic purposes. Keep in mind it could be done extremely easily. The photo is already being saved in some data format as cache.
Pretty nice changes. I still highly dislike the new Start menu which is quite limited imo. Also wish right button context menu could be reverted to W10 style. I get the change for some like tablet style device users, but I can't deny it. I love the W10 style much more. Gotta love MS for baking stuff like better file extraction into base system. I really dig the change that it's not mandatory to do program set X installs on every system, like 7zip, vlc etc. Better than MacOS imo out-of-box.
Checks? Man, that took me back a whole bunch of years. Do people still use paper checks? 70 years old here and still building and repairing computers. I've been using WIN 11 for 2 years now as an "Insider." I'm a BETA user of the new AI assistance program and I love it. I no longer have to wade through all the extemporaneous crap that doesn't apply to my questions anymore. It is quite impressive. Windows has come a long way. I'm new to your site and found you by accident while scrolling through some MS questions. I enjoyed your video. Kudos for the great information. Upgrade and enjoy folks.
Great video - I'm still not ready for Windows 11 yet, too many clicks to get to features that used to be one click. The VHD thing, you can do that in Windows 10 along with BitLocker encrypted drives. Use the Hyper-V manager and you can create VHDs and mount and eject them from Windows explorer.
The windows 11 AI selected a UA-cam in answer to your question that showed how to set the refresh rate on a monitor. It looks like the UA-cam was made by a private party with the channel name Northern Viking Everyday. This suggests that if you wanted to get wider exposure to your channel through Windows 11 23H2, you could anticipate the videos that AI will search for and create a series of specifically targeted explanatory videos that it would latch onto and suggest to all Windows 11 users.
0:19 When someone says "I like Linux" nobody bats an eye. But when I say "I like Windows" then everyone loses their minds! - Joker. Jokes aside, it really shows that in the internet, you aren't allowed to have differing opinions
When I first installed Windows 11, a couple of hours later I rolled my system back to Windows 10. The reasons are this: couldn't create folders in the Start Menu and Task Manager was missing when right clicking on the Task Bar. It took them a while, but Microsoft has put those features into Windows 11. Currently I'm running Windows 11 Pro and am satisfied with the OS.
I would like Microsoft to add back WordPad in Windows 11. I need this program a lot and Microsoft removed it. That sucks and is unfair. Please add back WordPad to Windows 11.
Like you say, it looks like 23H2 doesn't give you the option to save the wallpaper image. But when you right-clicked on the example desktop image, I did notice that one of the menu options in the right-click was to "Search images with Google". But a couple of years ago, Google had to cripple that formerly great search option due to complaints about too many people using it to steal copyrighted images.
Also, the desktop spotlight images are cached in the folder of %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets
> that formerly great search option due to complaints about too many people using it to steal copyrighted images. "steal", if it exists and it can be freely accessed on a webpage, it's free 🏴☠
Just used an activation from your sponsor - excellent service btw, they were very helpful when I needed to sort out an issue I had inadvertently caused.
You can create and attach VHD's in the disk management snap-in since at least Windows 7. But that said I will certainly be eager to start using the settings app implementation. Especially mouse click mounting
still no 4k scaling 200% support in windows explorer, whenever you want to show icons full size. sometimes i wonder if those engineers did use their eyes before releasing software.
Thanks for the informative video. Some comments: Virtual drive support has been in Windows since Windows 10, it was just buried in Disk Management. But it looks like in 23H2 they have made it a little easier to use -- now there's a kind of wizard approach where you answer all the questions and it creates the VHD file, attaches it to your PC, formats the virtual drive, creates a volume, and assigns a drive letter. Under the previous (Win 10) interface, you had to do each of these steps manually. But the feature has definitely been there for a while, including the Bitlocker support. EDIT: I see now that the difference is that it's now in the Home edition whereas it used to only be in Pro and Enterprise. So never mind, I guess, though I do wonder what use the typical home user would have for virtual drives. But making them easier to use is a good thing, regardless. Any idea if Microsoft has in this version plugged the "holes" that allow Windows 11 to be installed without a Microsoft account? It seems like every time they release an update, they remove all ways people have found to do that, and then people have to figure out a new way around it. It's like the world's most ridiculous arms race. I'd love to know if they're continuing to push this stuff, despite the fact that everyone hates it. Finally, a question: have they yet restored the ability to turn off the "overflow area" feature for the Notification Area/System Tray/whatever we're calling it this week? You used to be able to tell Windows 10 to "Always Show All Icons in the Notification Area." This is extremely important for me as a person who supports several hundred users. I want to be able to say to them "click on the blue squiggly icon in the lower right" (making that up, but you get the idea) without having to explain that the blue squiggly icon may only appear if they first click the minuscule little arrow that some of my more visually challenged users can't even see. That setting disappeared in Windows 11 -- it still appears in group policy, but it does nothing. Have they listened to the world on this one yet, or are we going to have to wait another year?
Thanks for this. I'm particularly curious about the virtual drive (VHDs) feature. As for compression formats, 7Zip is a preferred format for me. But it would be good if Windows could support all these most common compression formats. If not, I can just install the 7Zip tool as it supports almost all archive formats.
I'm pretty sure 23H2 supports 7z and a ton of other formats besides just RAR and ZIP. Should handle anything libarchive does. However I'm not sure if it supports creating archives of those types.
You can move tabs in 22h, it's just a "bit"... finicky, you have to move the tab you want to move a bit further then half the distance of the tab you want to move it next to, wait till that tab 'jumps' to it's new position and then let go of the tab. Anyway, does the "restore open windows" work when you had tabs open?
I wouldn't hold out hope for MS implementing file opening from within rar, 7zip etc. because depending on the setting used you have to decompress the entire file to extract/open a single file contained within, which is the default setting. It's one of the consequences of a greater compression ratio compared to zip.
I’ve nearly never used the Win file explorer. So unpractical. I’ve been using Total Commander for many years. 3rd party application, free of charge or small fee, double window / source -> destination, zip/unzip, etc. Really user friendly.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, stats for Windows 11 remain stagnant as not many (including businesses) have upgraded to Windows 11 as they are still using Windows 10.
The day Microsoft changes Win 11 to support Quick Launch and Favorites toolbars (independent of browser bookmarks) on the main taskbar like Win 10 without third-party apps or registry hacks will be the day I'll be truly happy again. I've had the taskbar at the top with left-aligned icons since Win 95 and it's something I refuse to give up.
Amazing video, excited to see where win11 is going. But could you potentially make a video or short explaing how to fully disable widgets. I cant uninstall them and i never use them. They are annoying and i cant find what service they are to disable their startup. If anyone has an answer please let me know. And as always great video.
The three evil sisters (Cortana, Siri and Alexa) can go to a very dark, smelly place where te sun never shines. Perhaps 'copilot' can tag along to help make sure that they do not get lost. Micro.Shaft would not need copilot if they would stop changing the user interface. Speaking of useless .... that defines the RGB lighting hardware as well.
Virtual Hard Drive is a big gamechanger. I so appreciate Microsoft for designing explorer to finally let tabs be opened on one window, it's a helpful feature. I personally don't care much about backing up data on my computer though, but I do back up on my external harddisk drive. Another upgrade I really like is that now we can have dark theme mode applied to all apps and whatever. I use dark themes for everything.
@@CyberCPU thank you. I just updated to a new version of 22H2. After the update, I see the copilot, and the new windows explorer is already showing up.
I'm probably wrong, but AI seems to be the lastest buzzword that has no practical use for most people. At least not any time really soon. I realize it will be used quite a bit behind the scenes, but for the individual user, in it's current form, it's just a toy.
Chat GPT is quite useful for a lot of text handling tasks like creating summaries, lists, translations and grammar/spelling corrections. It can write an email for you. And in some cases it's a superior search engine.
We'll see, but I don't know if it will catch on for most users. It seems like it has some pretty specific use cases, but you have to know what you are doing to be able to take advantage of it. I'm not sure that people will take the time to learn it. The number of people who can't even do a basic google search well is astonishing.@@lars9925
Some really cool features in this one, W11 is getting closer and closer to being tempting to daily drive. Given that you're an ultrawide monitor user though, I'm surprised by how little flak I've heard you give MS for the continued avoidance of arguably the most basic taskbar functionality of all; moving it to the side to free up precious vertical screen space. I get that they really want that MacOS vibe for whatever reason, but their own forums and feedback hub make it pretty clear that this feature isn't quite the edge-case they like to pretend it is.
This. I absolutely hate that I can't use a vertical taskbar anymore. So far I've been using StartAllBack to fix this issue, but I really dislike having to buy a third party program to have such basic functionality.
Spotlight on Desktop is a thing in 22H2... And FINALLY Never combine... however, I don't like how it pushes the other not open apps over, I want them to stay on the left, and then 'open windows' collect to the right - like XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 etc all did! Also, i'm on 22H2, Everything works in Dark mode, including Paint.... so I don't know what you have done with yours :)
Just switched back to 11 after going back to 10 for a bit, and i must say.. It looks real cleaner than 10 does. The rounded corners just seem more comfortable to me and its honestly slowly becoming better and better, I like it so far and will keep trying it out :))
Copilot: Easy - just install Windows 7! The last Windows-Version without bullshit! But unfortunatly it's not supportet anymore. So, I guess you have to switch to Linux to get a clean system! I'm sorry, but I have been build by Microsoft! :-(
By the time SkyNet became self-aware it had spread into millions of computer servers all across the planet. Ordinary computers in office buildings, dorm rooms, everywhere. It was software, in cyberspace. There was no system core. It could not be shut down.
I hate that they removed Clean Disk from MyPC->C->Properties... Now i need to write CLEAN in Start menu to find that setting... Question - WHY did they removed that option? It was here for years in any disk properties menu 😢
I got a new laptop with Windows 11 pre-installed last week. It was definitely a shock at first. But I'm getting used to it. I'm learning to use the search to get to things I need. I love having tabs on the file explorer. People don't like change. I get that. I'm not a power user. And I love learning new interfaces. I went through a phase where I was trying Linux distros just to try the interfaces.
I mean it's great people wanna try new things but most people work on system and really don't want to bother with learning something new and getting to know that it wasn't even better then old os.
Thanks for the preview. Lots of new features to look forward to. There is a rumor that 23H2 will not be available to unsupported systems even with the current by-pass commands.
MS can easily push a scanner anytime they want within any update package to recheck a system, but yes, for a major update like this then I'd expect that scanner to be included as a pre-check.
I wouldn't be that sure. Imo as long as windows server is around, there will always be somewhat easy ways to install windows 11 on an incompatible system. Eg windows server never complains about compatibility. And it already runs on version 23H2
Im using w11 for a few months now ..and i dont miss w10 after using it for years...w11 feels faster also im still getting use to it but all new things require time to learn and get used to
@viewspace8020 there is an issue if u use unsupported hardware. If ur in 21h2 wanna upgrade to 23h2 u have to re install Windows... its a pain!. Since 23h2 is the last.. its worthless to upgrade
I wonder if we can finally reposition the "start panel" from the lower bottom of the screen to the right side of the screen as I am so hardwired to it that not having this particular option inW11 is a deal breaker to me.
Finally Windows 11 is becoming its own thing and not just a skin in top of 10. Desktop backup and developer mode and improved mouse feedback latency for games, better dpi for my 1440p monitors, and led management without relying on horrible software like Asus Crate or MSI mystic make this a must have from Windows 10
I know this is not significant to many but, how about mouse pointers to be more visible in a bright environment. Are there any more choices to see the mouse pointer more easily?
Did Microsoft also get rid of image backup from control panel? I've made image backups of my Windows 11 22H2 system and would like to do the same in 23H2!
You know, I didn't look. That's done through the old Windows 7 backup. I'm not sure if it's still there or not. Unfortunately I don't have it loaded on a system anymore to look but I do know that the backup options have changed dramatically. Like I mentioned in the video there's no longer access to the Shadow copy configuration from within settings. However, that's something they changed already in current builds of Windows 11. It was probably in anticipation of their new OneDrive backup that I covered in the video briefly.
Is there any talk about adding a transparency slider to the taskbar? 3rd party apps like TranslucentTB don't seem to work for me all of a sudden after a recent update
Last I checked, the file history DOES let you include folders, however, all the important folders are unable to be selected (docs, pics, vids, etc) like M$ manually blocked you from adding those specific folders. Did they reverse course on that?
I've never even known that was a thing. I use file history for backup all the time and backup all document directories. They are actually selected by default. Not sure what you mean. Maybe they're not allowing you to select them because they're already part of the default selection. 🤷♂️
Just like all previous versions, upgrades etc most new features people dont need, arent aware of, or if they do know of forget theyre there ...same on phones ios & android.... the vast majority of users just want and use the basic features and be able to find them easily...
what about the news section in the widget side window? Are they going to allow us to turn off the news section so that we only have the widgets that we choose?
Thanks for the great review. Great stuff coming... back to Windows 11? The most forward looking is the ability to easily attach those virtual hard disk (VHD). Windows 10 was much easier to access existing VHDs, and create new ones. I have been using VHDs for a long time. Primary reason is encryption my private data. As a cyber security expert, you should encrypt your private data. That is in case your PC is hit with malware or Ransomware. Your important data is protected and cannot be stolen if it is hidden away and encrypted. Note, Do not store VHD under Documents. Store them on another drive entirely. Also, only attach them when you need them. And, Eject them when you are done. Currently, to create a VHD in Windows 11 you have to right-click on Start, select Disk Management, Create (or Attach existing) VHD (and after clicking on the blank space with the other drives listed). To Attach an existing HVD is a 10 step process. Windows 10 was much easier, by clinking on the file like you just showed us. There is no file association to VHD in my installation. Or, I don't know which program to attach for the Association. Can't associate to mcc.exe, which is the parent program for Disk Management. Sorry, but File Explorer in Windows 11 has been the pain in my side. I am analytical and seeing Desktop in three places in the left pane, blows my mind. There are no files, or folders, on my Desktop (except Recycle Bin) but all those folders appear to be there in File Explorer. File Explorer is not as logical as in Windows 7, which was much more intuitive to me. Why does Windows 11 File Explorer have Home, Favorites, Desktop, Username, and Libraries as they all display THE SAME THING! And I hate the extras folders like OneDrive that you can't easily turn off, especially since I never use it. It takes a Registry edit to remove it, but gets added back in with every update (it appears to me). The new Backup is another move to get users to use OneDrive, and pay for extra storage. Like Google, they find new ways to increase their Cloud Storage income.
Their greed really spoils their presentation 😞 I've got ads turned off - if I want something more I know where to find it, I don't want pressure sales tactics 😡
I noticed the battery Icon is gone near the clock, is that one of the new things or did you find a way to remove it? Im on a desktop and it shouldnt even be there just never found a way to remove it.
There are rare cases where opening zip and rar files directly is not a good idea. Not all compressed files are images, so the best way is for user to choose if they want to enable or disable opening "zip" or "rar" files directly.
you know what really blows my mind is why cant we keep our start button center-aligned and pin apps/tasks on BOTH sides of it? theres so much wasted space between the weather widget and start button
I like your videos. Could I make a suggestion? I think it would be neat if you could ID "chapters" or "segments" to the video. Hopefully that'd be possible. Thanks for the videos, keep up the good work!
Firstly, zip archives are not natively supported on my Win 10 Home version. Why is this? As for Bitlocker, that too isn't supported on my version of Win 10 Home. So I presume I would not be able to use encryption either on virtual drives. Has the mess between Control Panel and Settings been improved in this update? You didn't mention it so I assume not?
Did you happen to try right-clicking on a file in File Explorer to see whether there is a menu option to Archive it as a RAR? I don't have the beta version, so I don't know.
Something you said prompted me to check my version with winver, I am on 23H2 (insider programme), hadn't realised. I have found that there is no way (from settings) to change some startup programmes. Settings>apps>startup shows a list of apps, many have only a small icon which takes you to the .exe folder, and some have a small arrow that allows startup control of that app. When you go back from there the list shows again but with no options at all, no link to folder no arrow to settings. Is it just me?
Nice, I have been on Windows 11 now for about 2 years and its been fine, like windows 10 with missing features. I really like some of the items you talked about, it give me some ideas for the clients I support.

You can revert to classic right click, just need a registry edit.

Being able to simply uninstall all of the crap would be the most useful, especially those god awful apps from the app store.
Deprecate vs Depreciate ... The right word for dropping support for software is deprecate. Love the updates you bring just a friendly grammar jab :)
.vhd support was in Windows 7, it was just hidden behind the Disk Management applet in Administrative Tools. Windows 8 expanded on this and allowed you to natively mount .iso's and .vhd's directly from File Explorer and you could also eject these virtual drives as well. 23H2 did nothing more than add already existing functionality to the settings panel.
Was just about to post this. Disk Management / Actions / Create VHD. Come to think of it, the old way is much faster.
VHD was a thing in 2005. . . Way before Windows 7
The old way was much more hidden. It was unpopular as a feature as well
Dam just replied saying same thing
(Right click menu) There is so much in it that I would like to see just GONE without having to put up with the more options in the condensed view that Windows 11 forces on us!
shift right click or chris titus tech toolbox to restore it by default.
Also can be done, including mouse click mounting, with something like veracrypt, which is how I currently manage encrypted volumes
@@techlifebio VERACRYPT is awesome
"sometimes MSFT takes 2 years to do the simplest things", there are no simple things in the OS world. Only simple ideas.
Vhd only works with the pro and enterprise editions. This brings it to home

I love your use of the zoom transition from looking at your monitor into looking at your capture feed directly.
The photo is already being saved in some data format as cache.
you can save any desktop background image from
c:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\CachedFiles\CachedImage_resolution_.jpg
Better than MacOS imo out-of-box.
i used a tweak to make the "show more options" the default like older win versions, deffo saves alot of frustration :)

Never combine taskbar buttons FINALLY. Never should've gone away in the first place, but at least they're rectifying it now.
This is why I wait for at least 1-2 years before tiptoeing into a new OS.

Why did you so choose Pro, if you don't mind me asking.
@@franks7968 Because I had a Windows 10 Pro license. I chose the Pro version of Windows 10 because of the option to turn off Windows hardware updates.

End task is awesome! Always wondered why that wasnt available in taskbar.
Agreed, great addition. It totally should be on by default.
Thanks for the informative video. Some comments:
Virtual drive support has been in Windows since Windows 10, it was just buried in Disk Management.
Want it
Thanks for this. I'm particularly curious about the virtual drive (VHDs) feature. As for compression formats, 7Zip is a preferred format for me. But it would be good if Windows could support all these most common compression formats. If not, I can just install the 7Zip tool as it supports almost all archive formats.
Why windows should support these formats ? Why you say this ?
Hi. Thank you for all good info. Question: why are desktop icons migrate when multiple screen changes, or when I use remote desktop? So annoying.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, stats for Windows 11 remain stagnant as not many (including businesses) have upgraded to Windows 11 as they are still using Windows 10.
Yes, it has pretty slow adoption.

They will probably go straight to Windows 12 by then.
I'll look into it. Maybe make it part of a tips video.
You can turn them off. Maybe that's different from disabling. Personalization, taskbar, then switch off widgets.

I'm probably wrong, but AI seems to be the lastest buzzword that has no practical use for most people. At least not any time really soon. I realize it will be used quite a bit behind the scenes, but for the individual user, in it's current form, it's just a toy.
You're basically right. It's not real AI. Basically just language models. It's not actually thinking. I did another video on it about a year ago.
27:40 VHD's aren't something new...They were already present in Disk Management MMC tool.

Having tabs on file explorer (as well as notepad) is by far my favorite feature. I use it ALL the time lol.

You know, I didn't look. That's done through the old Windows 7 backup. I'm not sure if it's still there or not.

More than likely they will. I will do a video on it when it's officially released.
Good presentation on Win OS. Please keep it up. You are clear and easy to follow,
what about the news section in the widget side window?

Any word of ReFS support outside of Pro Workstation?
Did you happen to try right-clicking on a file in File Explorer to see whether there is a menu option to Archive it as a RAR? I don't have the beta version, so I don't know.
2:01 Who TF is still writing checks in 2023?! Didn’t those go extinct?
The main reason I still haven’t upgraded is because of the lack of speed improvement from win10. Where do we stand on that?
Something you said prompted me to check my version with winver, I am on 23H2 (insider programme), hadn't realised. I have found that there is no way (from settings) to change some startup programmes. Settings>apps>startup shows a list of apps, many have only a small icon which takes you to the .exe folder, and some have a small arrow that allows startup control of that app. When you go back from there the list shows again but with no options at all, no link to folder no arrow to settings. Is it just me?
