As usual, I picked up some nice techniques from this and all your tutorials. The 2 major things were the explanation of the docking properties and the use of the blending modes to created the transparency effect. Always a pleasure to learn from such a great teacher
another great video on Photoshop Elements, always learn something from viewing your videos. You always review and highlight the steps so that we can learn the all the basics and new techniques
+Pauline Rumsey You're Welcome Pauline. I am glad to see that you spotted the point of this video, to demonstrate using blending modes. Once I discovered blending modes I found that I began to use them in almost all of my projects. George
thank you so much im new to photoshop and your easy tutorials make it fun and simple i never knew about docking and stuff thanks for teaching me how to make transparent items
You're welcome. Photoshop Elements is really a powerful program once you take a close look at it George Get My Complete Training on Amazon www.georgepeirson.com/7244
Great video, you take two nice subjects and have a opacity to deal with. I am trying to do something a little similar using one of the grand kids face as a background and a fishbowl as a foreground will have to get some distortion involved. The main thing is the blending modes and the colors. The thing is you can have some fun and make it look realistic. The combinations are limitless. Thanks again George. Rich
+Gary Johnson Thanks, this is a pretty basic technique but it is one that is nice to know and occasionally comes in useful. The bit where I put the colors on the sides of the bottle and then blend that layer is something that I do use quite often. George
Thanks again for every uploaded video! Can PSE 15 make an isolated item that is transparent background and save as a file? Say I want to just have an apple and be able to paste it in my sutterfly photobook so it does not look like a square?
Hi, sure. Easy to do, simply remove the background around the image and then save it as either a GIF or PNG-24, both of those file formats support transparency. Here is a recent video on removing backgrounds, many of my other videos also show removing backgrounds from an image. ua-cam.com/video/tERet_fNUqk/v-deo.html George
You're welcome. The problem with jpeg is that it does not support transparency, so anywhere that is transparent is converted to white. PNG24 is a good alternative for JPEG and it supports transparency. Only downside is that PNG does not compress as well as JPEG so the file sizes are larger. George
How can it be possible to replace a photo portrait in a painted portrait by an old master, in their painterly style? ... your friend had been painted by that old master ( Matisse, Manet, Delacroix, etc )
Lots of ways, one is to fake the style in Photoshop Elements, I have done a few videos about this. The other way is to use AI, try putting your photo through Dall-E and ask it to apply an old master style and see what you get. labs.openai.com/

It's fascinating using blending modes to get the effect you want, George. Great tutorial!
Thanks John, you probably noticed by now that I use Blend Modes in almost all of my projects. They are a real power user tool.
