Every weekday morning, except holidays that happen to land on a weekday, there is one R train that goes to 96st instead of Forest Hills.
Because of this the R train turns into a Q train and then heads towards Coney Island and then terminates at Coney Island and goes out of customer service so it can go back to the yards. It later on serves either the afternoon R train that begins service at 36st - 4th avenue or the nearby F line which begins service at Kings Highway

It was the D train for us when we were kids.... Front car, observing the ride....oh the excitement we'd feel at the first glimpse of amusement park rides..
Back then the motorman’s cab was not in the way and you really had a front view.

The express sprint between 34th St. and Union Square has always been brisk. It's one of my favorites.
@Lighthouse in the Storm I've been a big fan of the BMT Broadway line ever since my very first subway ride on July 21, 1965 - on a shiny new R-32 N train. Even the R-68s, which are not exactly speed demons, get up to speed on that stretch.
That stretch of the express isn't all that fast like it used to be
If you need to take the Q train, it is best to not be in a hurry because my goodness it is slow. Excellent video!
I won't say it's slow per se but it have unnecessary timers at certain segments that slow down the line

The D line I'm not able to do unfortunately because the surface of the front of the train is not smooth and makes the camera fall off. I'm doing the 3 and the extended Rocksway park shuttle

I don't think that he actually got permission, as far as I can tell, he's said in other videos that he uses a tool to place the camera on the footplate outside the front door.

So a Subway train when they depart from there terminus stop they use the buzzer but was they continue there destination they don’t use it? How does the engineer knows when to go?
The conductor uses a key to open and close the doors. When the conductor removes the key after boarding is done it then sends a signal to the operators cab where there is a light that lights up which indicates the train is ready to move

@@flattrain5834 I didn't do anything special to the camera, I just used a reacher tool and placed it on the train floor. There is this channel called fan railer that did something similar with his camera outside the train a few years ago (but in bewteen subway cars)
He explained in the comments that gravity is more than enough for it to not fall off since the camera is so small and it's actually true as you saw here

What kind of camera did you use for this and how did you set it up so well on the front of the train?
I just used a grabber tool and placed the camera while no one was looking. Also the videos after this one, I would place the camera more forward that way it shows less of the floor
Right at 36:00 is where the biggest loss of life on the nyc subway happened on the track on the right.

That was extremely good animation. Is that from photography into computer graphics ? I really liked to see the tunnel bulkheads from 19:20 to 19:30 where the original north two tunnels of the N train are closed off as we go from the north 2 tunnels to the south 2 tunnels of the 4 under this part of Canal St before the Manhattan Bridge approach. In the old days, we would have gone onto the north two tracks of the Manhattan Bridge, and the south two bridge tracks would have gone to Chambers St. When the Christie St connection was built, it took the two north bridge tracks, and now we are shuffled over to the south two bridge tracks. The old south tunnels are still behind these bulkheads, but without tracks; A little further, the Christie St IND tracks curve into them. I love track layouts, operations, routings, and history of the structures. The only thing that could have been better is a bit more ditch lights shining on the tracks in the tunnels, but I guess this is the best that it was illuminated; I could see the track layout, and exquisite tunnel details !

The stations are too far apart: There should have been a 91st Street station (the 1 once had one), a 79th Street station, and maybe even a 68th Street station as well.

That would have been too expensive to build. In fact to save costs the 72nd street station was reduced to 2 tracks instead of three and stations are made a few feet narrower.
