I once saw a lady across the street and it is the most amazing experience I've ever had with fashion which is ridiculous because I only saw her from a distance and I didn't even get a good look at her. She was wearing a dark green, poofy (like she was wearing petticoats), Victorian-looking dress with a knee-length, dark green leather trenchcoat. Her hair was in a bun and she has a small-ish little vintage hat thing (the type you use as a fashion piece, not to cover the sun) and she had on old-looking heeled shoes with a buckle. Best of all, she walked with a cane. I'm not sure what it was but she had such grace, she floated instead of walked and her posture was incredible. I only saw her for a few seconds and it was several years ago now but I've never forgotten her.
I was at the Koroneberg Fair the other day (my second fair in something approaching appropriate faire costume) and I swore for a moment that I had walked by Bernadette Banner in a red ensemble with yellow hat and girdle). I must say, the best thing about allowing myself to develop a personal style may be that I end up spending much more time around people with personal styles of their own. Seeing other people just... openly enjoy themselves... it's an absolutely fantastic experience.
That's awesome! I had an experience simular to. When I was at the airport, I saw a lady talking on the phone ans she was wearing a 1950's vintage outfit! She had those puffy dresses and her hair was styled as the 50's.
I've always wanted to wear vintage style clothes ever since my mother found a *REAL* Edwardian Irish Lace tea dress at the thrift store ( absolutely incredible find ) and it fit me perfectly, although it was delicate and stained with coffee or tea.
Also, what's a good length of hair to do a vintage 1930-60s hair do?

ARE YOU SERIOUS? :O Edwardian Irish lace garments are so expensive! Lucky you! And regarding hair, I'd say from below chin to shoulder length should be fine. Of course it depends on the particular decade
Its a cultural trace I think. We are somehow hardwired to underestimate ourselves and undervalue our achievements. Coming to Britain was such an eye opener for me, so I kinda know where does it come from. I guess that is the reason so few Polish pp get successful in the West. Sad but true..
I agree that she's overdoing this a little... but generally in Poland it's in a good taste to do it. That means that you're not a snob and it doesn't necessarily mean that you feel insecure, it's just a social convention.
This is exactly what I am saying. Overdoing? Well, its downright putting herself down for no reason, really. She is absolutely nice nice girl as we judge by comments here which are mostly positive. We Polish people don't believe in ourselves, we have a very hard time thinking about ourselves : hey I am OK! But there is hope..we just need to work hard on that mental glitch to overcome it because hell WE ARE OK!

Age of Aquarius I think you're mistaking self deprecation with being honest. I don't like those looks and I find them funny, why should I pretend it's otherwise? Just so the viewers feel better? Polish people are, above all, an incredibly honest nation. When we say "how are you", we're actually curious to know. We don't say we're ok if we're not. We don't smile seeing someone we don't like. We don't pretend we're not tired or pissed when we are. Sure, it can be annoying, as you probably know, especially in day-to-day situations, but overall it's very refreshing and liberating, and something I miss here in the UK
I don't know where your insecurities come from. You were a cute little girl and you became a beautiful woman. It's difficult to be stylish without money. Also some of the mainstream fashion were practical but awful.
Beáta Balázs RIGHT!! As I watched this, I thought OH MY GOODNESS SHE IS SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!! Natural beauty, seriously!!! God makes us all look great though, since we're all made in His image!! ❤️
This is polish thing. We try always say true and be objective as much as we can, not flatter ourself and be a critical but with humor. We can't "sell ourself" like americans cos our way of raising. It has a pros and cons. But she is not insecured.
Growing up a lot of girls, even the prettiest ones feel awkward with their new growing bodies and personalities. It is a very common feeling and "transition" that a lot of young people go through as they grow up. But I don't think that she is insecure about her past anymore :"D
I grew taller but have had the same face since I was like 11. I got mistaken for my friends' mom and an adult multiple times, but maybe looking old as a kid means you'll stay that way and look young as an old lady? I can hope? 😆
Haha me too! I grew very tall very quickly and kinda stopped growing at 15, I think my feet stopped growing even earlier, so I've literally been wearing the same black boots for about 10 years now (I'm 23) xD
Watching this video really makes it clear that we are all our worst enemy. You looked like a normal teenager when you were young, and in several photos you seem to dislike you look really beautiful in.
Thats because we are all insecure I think everyone see themselves as having to have everything look “perfect” when we take photos we have a point of view that makes us see our “flaws” when in reality we should appreciate the beauty we find within ourselves idk I see both whenever I feel like actually taking a natural picture of myself.
I thought your video was both honest and instructive. I find as a guy, especially as one in North America, there isn't as much of a discussion or community around the 'vintage' style. Most the time if I 'try' or go half and half, I am called a hipster or something else derivative of that term by others. I could only imagine adding sexism to the mix of responses. It takes courage to step out of the norm. I have much respect for what you do! :)
Adam DuBourdieu I’ve seen a lot of pin up girls and greasers in my Highschool in California. Go all out! People will definitely look up to you for standing out and not caring
Yes I relate! I either do the half half vintage/modern look and it definitely looks hipster like but I am currently working on a 1925 Summer Men’s outfit, and maybe I’ll still be called a hipster but it definitely won’t be “hip” haha
This is gonna sound weird but because of your face shape in the photos when you were half trying you made it vintage. Some people go vintage and they look modern dressed up but you look vintage from the start. I don't know if I am making any sense here but if I pull up historical photos of the late thirties and forties you would fit in perfectly.
I don't want to put people in boxes, but i feel like polish women in general look more "vintage" when it comes to the face. I'm polish myself and can confirm that it's true for most of us. 😊
It's always worse at the start, I got into vintage at 16 and had a year of horror before I worked out that wearing men's shirts and floral skirts did not make a 1940's look
I love seeing a successful youtuber from central Europe that enjoys vintage. I feel like most are America based and it's really a shame to only get to see the americanised pinup image when really, up until WWII, our old continent was the eye of the storm. Represent!
me too! sure, the pose in the first picture is kind of silly and awkward, but in the second picture she looks so cool! and the dress itself looks great on her, and goes very nicely with the lipstick.
Thank you for clarifying that it can take a long time to transform one's style and wardrobe to vintage because I'm in the same boat where I cannot afford vintage or vintage style clothes, and I am also insecure about changing my style suddenly. Also, I cannot just throw away all the clothes I have as that's wasteful, so its a very gradual slow change. You've actually given a perfect explanation of how I feel and where I'm at with my style at the moment. Also where I live, we do not have many thrift shops or any I know of at all, and it makes things difficult.
When I was 7-8 I only wore green, when I was 9 I was very goth for a 9-year-old. After that I calmed down for a few years and then went full goth at 12-13, then I went to hippie for a year and when I turned 15 I went alternative. At 16 I only wore whatever I found in my floor and at 17 I started finally finding my own style. Now I'm turning 19 and I wear whatever I want, mostly retro. It's funny how I went through all these styles and remember I always wore something retro, whatever my style was.
Haha i wore almost exclusively blue & green until I was about 9. I didn't want to seem girly at all. Then the emo phase but not really because no money and school began 😖
I got into vintage style during late high school, once I had lost off my baby fat. I guess I really felt alienated from my peers and the "good old days" appealed to me, also because of my interest in history. I usually pin curled my hair but wore only vaguely vintage inspired clothes. After high school, my mental health degraded so I lost the energy to look vintage, though I kept the interest. Now that I'm done with university, I'm thinking about going back. Thanks for this video! It was fun! Nice nudes btw👌👌👌
I've watched a few of your videos, and I really appreciate the accuracy of your knowledge of fashion history. Also, you've mentioned a few times having been worried about what people have said about your own sense of style. Let me tell you, you'll be a lot happier the day you don't give a damn what other people think about you, what you think, say or do. That day came for me when I was 19 years old, and I'm 51 now, and I have yet to tire of being my own person. Keep dressing in vintage. You look great. Thanks for making the cool videos. Cheers. :D
I live in Hawaii. The pressure to conform is pretty intense, I've actually had department heads tell me exactly what to wear to set, and instruct me to not wear something specific that I like because they claim I'll be too hot (like I'm just a silly lil woman who can't gauge her own body temperature) I ended up just converting my clothes to all black because I was so pissed off with the pressure of everyone trying to control me. I mean. I've even been sent home because my nail polish wasn't the color of natural skin pigment. Anyway, I eventually started wearing whatever I want and when they would send me home, I'd happily spend the time in my studio, leveling up my skill. Consequentially, I became so good at what I do that production won't send me home anymore, they just scold me instead. But I let them talk and just do what I want anyway because there's something far more powerful in embodying a "f**k you!" rather than saying it :)
It's pretty ridiculous how much women's wardrobes are policed at work. I live in the continental United States and experience this somewhat, but do you think the pressure to conform is maybe more severe in Hawaii? Just curious
Omg PLEASE share the sewing pattern for that skirt at 13:16, I need it!! :o Also, about the femininity thing: I noticed that too - whenever I do my hair nicely, put on some lipstick and dress more "ladylike", dudes kinda start to behave like gentlemen. I must say I enjoy it :D
It was so fun to see your fashion journey! Thanks for sharing! I have been wearing vintage since I was 15/16 years old, and I totally understand what you mean about getting a lot of attention.
I concur with Zurich. You are absolutely gorgeous. You have beautiful features and porcelain skin, straight white teeth and lovely eyes. Your hair is thick and healthy. On top of this, you have a wicked sense of humour. Bask in your awesomeness!
I really love this and your take on vintage! Your attention to historical accuracy and detail is fantastic. I've not done terribly much with vintage yet, but I've found a lot of vintage jewelry that I enjoy pairing with modern/somewhat retro pieces of clothing. The connection to history is probably may favorite part of the vintage movement. You look incredible, and I look forward to exploring more of your videos
Why is everyone hard on themselves in these types of videos. Like, wait, you were a kid. It's like that for most ppl unless you were born in money in a very stylish family.
Yeah my style at 12 was T-R-A-S-H. It was terrible. It was shit. This was mostly because I wore uniform most of the time and when I stopped my style got better lol
@infinityrose92 very true, I believe it's very important that adults allow their kids to find themselves through clothes and other ways even. The type of clothing a person wears I find is really good at telling u a lot about the person. A side note I even think the furniture a person chooses for their house often says a lot about them as well for some reason lol😂
@infinityrose92 ahhhhhh thank you for that term as I've never actually had a word for it but I've always thought that each individuals accumulation of things be it clothes accessories home and decor all play part in telling that persons story and what their desires may be!
This doesn't really count as vintage but I love 70s, 80,s and early 90s style. I just always gravitated towards horrifying patterns and garish colors but somehow I make it work because I get a lot of compliments. It's sad that you get negative comments tho :( I haven't, I get some strange stares but I wear a lot of chokers and collars so maybe they are too afraid to confront me lol.
I started wearing vintage my freshman year of high school. I was experimenting a whole ton and because I was starting in fashion, I looked ridiculous, so obviously a lot of people laughed at me. I ended up changing my style to more grunge chic (I guess?) for my sophomore year of high school (to try and fit in with the crowd) as well as the beginning of my junior year, but as my school career continued, I discovered the vintage again and decided to get back into it. I had a much better sense of style at that point, so I was able to study the look of vintage a whole lot more and now, people compliment me at school all the time. So it took a lot of trial and error, but I am a lot happier with it now.
I'm on my third year doing vintage. It was always something I've wanted to do, but yeah I never thought I would be able to. Some life changing events happened and I just decided I was going to do what I wanted. I m far from fully there, still figuring out my personal vintage style, and clothes are expensive, especially for a college student. I've got a couple of reproductions in clothes and makeup, altered some thrift finds, and was lucky enough to find this cute hat from the 40s and a vintage pair of gloves that were hardly worn. Since I live in a small town I can't get away from the comments, but thankfully I have a few people who actually enjoy what I wear. One being a teacher, actually on campus I have several who wait to see what I'm wearing that day.
I live in San Sebastian, it's a really small city in spain and here when you dress different you call attention and thats the reason why I don't dare to wear vintage. Also, the vintage stores are more like 'hipster' with 80's--90's clothing but not 30's or 40's. Next year or the next i'm going to edinburgh and I hope to I can wear more vintage.
Soem ideas are to look for activities, where it would fit in. Maybe swing dancing. Also online thrift shops might be a thing and it might be nice to just encorporate just one piece with something more regular or neutral.
Lovely honest video. I totally understand the struggle of long historical hair or shorter vintage hair, I recently cut my hair short and I don't know what I'll do when it comes to historical stuff now. I have always loved clothes with a story, so that started as princess dresses, then when I was 5 I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn so I had black velvet dress which made me feel like I was her in Breakfast at Tiffany's, in my early teens then I liked gothic victorian inspired style so I used to wear edwardian blouses with long skirts and a top hat though because I was reading lots of victorian literature. I eventually started historical sewing and at the same time I started wearing more colour again and vintage clothes.
I'm sixteen and I really like vintage stuf, so thank you for all your work on your videos :3 . They comfort my choices of wearing vintage clothing (unusual in high school). And your videos on historical costumes are awesome too, it's something I'm fond of since I'm 13, and I'm so glad to see I'm not the only person on earth to like this. Thank you for your great job
The middle/high school story is so relatable haha After seeing this video I think I'm accidentally transitioning towards wearing vintage. Love your style!
I am from HK and now in my year two of my university study. I hv been caring so much about how people dress and also myself, even now, and will get worried if I look strange that day. So I can somehow relate to your feeling back then. Before getting to vintage dressing, I was in a stage of wanting to dress with that, but daring not do it. And not until I met my girlfriend who dare dress in very colour-catchy way and loves to say “this is me. So what i am dressing represent me. Nothing to be ashamed of”, i had not dared to try on a vintage clothes. So now sometimes I still think I am not doing good enough in dressing in vintage style, but I will seriously look for the reason that make me look not good enough. In short, i think confidence+ acceptance to yourself who sometime fail in matching outfits+ serious examination on what’s wrong with the outfit= a strong mind that makes you on the track of exploring more possiblities in fashion while making yourself able to dress what you want or more
You know, like a year ago I started dressing only with cute vintage sweaters, nightgowns, long skirts and long chiffon robes, no one stares at me, no one ever dares to even say something, bc I'm always holding my "disco bouncer looking" boyfriend's hand and they kinda know that if they say something to me, they'll get a punch in the face 💖 he also encouraged me to find my true self in clothing and a way to express myself, so be happy and confident wearing whatever you want, I just adore your videos 💖
I love to rewatch this video: Karolina looks astonishingly beautiful here, the music and lightning make it feel so cozy. And it also inspires me a lot, helps to clear my head and to decide, what I really want my style to be like, without caring about the latest trends.
It was fun to see you younger. Thanks for sharing ! You were incredibly beautiful in all these pictures. But I understand you were uncomfortable until you find your style. Whatever, I like your inspiring videos.
Karolina, seriously I was thinking about you these couple of days, you and the youtuber Tim Dessaint made me appreciate people with authentic taste in fashion, I personally was always kinda nostalgic and vintage person and I adore people who are so. Thank you for being in our universe♡
Why would someone dressing up as a regular Wehrmacht officer be any different from someone dressing up as a British or a Soviet officer? They were all just people fighting for their own side.
@@captainoblivious_yt tru my grandpas brother was only 16 and they literally forced him to join the wehrmacht. he was a child and died. my grandpa never recovered from that loss.
Heya Karolina, thank you for sharing your vintage story - it really resonated with me. I've always had quite an eclectic style and started collecting vintage pieces from charity shops/second-hand stores since I was 14. I really related to what you were saying about how vintage clothing attracts a lot of attention and, unfortunately, not all of it is welcome. These days, I struggle to "dress down" (when it comes to style, I'm a more is more kinda gal) and I do get funny looks from colleagues, classmates, and strangers. Like you, I hate drawing attention to myself, but I also have this passion for vibrant prints and vintage wear that does exactly that. I find this particularly challenging because of some of the responses it triggers in people around you, especially when it makes others feel "underdressed". I hope that others in the world will realise that it isn't necessarily vast amounts of confidence, vanity, or attention-seeking that inspires us to wear vintage garments but instead, it is a love for beauty and creativity centred around an appreciation for by-gone times. P.S. I love Edinburgh! I'm at a university that's about an hour away and whenever I'm in Edi I always try to squeeze in a trip to Armstrong's vintage on Grassmarket - they have such a great collection! Love you and your channel - hope you are safe and well
I saw the "nudes" in the description, and I felt like you wouldn't actually link those so I clicked out of curiosity as to what you would put. XD So scandalous! Love it
I've recently discovered your channel and I'm enchanted. You have a dry sense of humour and I think it goes over a lot of people's heads. All this talk of you "roasting" yourself instead of talking about your style evolution is a clear sign that (as my counselling lecturer used to say) "some people aren't meant to get it". The roasting seems to me to be a clever strategy to add interest and deliver an entertaining video and ya nailed it. I also tend not to be interested in watching videos over 10 minutes because people RAMBLE but yours are all so great and I sit through every second, hanging on ever dry word. Never change!
You deserve so much more views! You are funny, articulate and your content is always really informative (especially for people like me who are interested in a vintage lifestyle but have no clue how to go about getting into it). Also, you are definitely too harsh on yourself, your style evolution isn't nearly as 'bad' as you make it out to be, it's actually really cute and pretty.
not that anyone will read or care but i've always wanted to get into vintage and historical. i'm constantly battling between my everyday style, my 70s style and just wanting to wear historical dresses and corsets. i just found this channel and i admire you for doing whatever you want, you know so much about historical fashion and i love it. you always look very beautiful in your historical garb. honestly i was kind of embarrassed that i liked old timey fashion, but i've been watching your videos all day and they have helped me branch out and find this community. turns out my friend is the same way with fashion and we've talked about going to balls and ren faires! also bought my first corset today, so excited! tldr: love ur videos, they've helped me find a vintage community
"If I buy some basic elegant stuff and I just keep wearing it throughout my life I will be classy old lady" this is me at the moment and I realised I just look like I'm wearing plain D&G leftovers
You are such an inspiration to me. My husband, whose world revolves around re-enactments, wishes I was more of a vintage girl. You inspire me to actually give it a try.
10:00 / 10:45 I actually really love this outfit! To me, you look like a really powerful woman from the late 1960s/ early 1970s!! It’s a beautiful look! Also you are so gorgeous at 11:35, a fashionable 70s movie star on her day off💕
I went almost completely vintage over the summer before I began college. So I took a lot of vintage clothes with me to school. When I didn't fit in to my new social environment, I slowly gave it up, for the most part. I remember coming home for Christmas, with my vintage coat. My sister had gotten a new winter coat...and suddenly, I really wanted a new coat instead of my old coat. That's when I really gave up vintage. I'm so proud of you that you've stuck with it. Go YOU! Love your channel. Love listening to you. I'm the one whose mother and you look exactly the same....so somewhere back in the generations, we must be cousins of some sort!
When I was growing up, within circles of Polish youth of the late 90s and early 2000s it was seen as a trait of a "poorer" (financially) person to wear vintage because of the incredible (and still persisting) focus on the west and "American fashion", which didn't embrace "vintage" and "retro" styles until the mid-2015s really. So because of that, people usually dressed in styles evocative of Hollister/AE catalogues and very rarely something more so like Urban Outfitters today. I liked a lot of older styles that were hand-me-downs from older siblings and older relatives, and I remember guys picking on me saying I got my clothes from the "PCK" (Polish Red-Cross; organization which helps the less fortunate). I'm glad that now kids and youth probably don't have that problem anymore, but people in Poland are generally quite judgemental so I can understand how your transformation really did take years---because for others in other places (i.e. Berlin, London, NYC) it would probably be much faster of a transition, only because of the acceptance of "different styles" and plethora of great resources for experimentation (second-hand shops, specialty boutiques, etc)
So my window was open and the wind made it move and squeak a bit and that's exactly when you said 'my window is making weird noises'!! New sub here, I like your style!
from 14:00 onward it just turns into a very inspirational TED talk 😭 it's been a while since I really wanted to start wearing certain styles & vids like this of other people doing it give me confidence
I don't wear vintage and most probably never will, but I think your style is so awesome! I love your channel and binge watch it on lazy sunday afternoon. Like the one today :)
Oh, why can I only like this video once?? Your style is amazing and very encouraging. I'm on that stage where I'm trying to stick to what we could call the classic stuff. I've always liked a little bit of this and that but of course (as anyone who's only 21 years old) I've never managed to create a consistent look. I'm getting rid of loads of shit (I had clothes from when I was 12 years old) and trying to get a gender neutral classic look. The problem is I feel way too akward wearing shirts, black pants and loafers instead of jeans, t-shirts and sandals unless it's a somehow formal occasion. Even though I moved a couple years ago from my hometown to the huge capital (I'm living in Buenos Aires now) where people is more used to seeing different looks and styles. Summer and the warm temperatures of spring make it more difficult to achieve my desired look. Things would be different I guess if I lived somewhere with a colder weather 'cause I feel the look I want to get is easier during the winter. I am more into a kind of dandy look (if that's something) and very very slowly getting nearer. I feel conditioned very often whenever I have the opportunity to dress up a little bit by the different look the people around me is going to have. I find myself all the time asking my partner how dressy is he going to be because I just don't want to be looked at as a weirdo. I'm glad you shared your experience. It's great to see other people's paths even if they don't have the exact same style you're looking for. I've always felt some kind of admiration to the beauty you show and it's nice to see where the stunning person you see has started.
Really interesting because it’s similar to my own fashion journey. I have been feeling self conscious because I enjoy some vintage clothing but other days I like to wear a t-shirt and jeans. Hearing about your transition stages really makes me feel better about it. I also have a lot of pieces from times I was into button ups and black jeans. I like to mix the button ups with swing skirts, and it creates a style that really feels me. Hearing your story is very encouraging!
I think it was the best you got so pissed at your prom ball and gown and decided to truly enter a fashion college haha See, vintage 100% suits you (also this lipstick is A+)!
I didn't put much thought into my personal style until I hit 30. I was a very late bloomer with fashion and now cringe looking back on what I used to wear. I don't know what it was, but a switch flipped and I started caring about the clothing I put on my body. I realized that I actually needed a functional, practical adult wardrobe (who knew?) and also wanted to start expressing myself through fashion. It's also one of the few simple things in life that's under our control, and can have such a profound effect on how we feel and how people perceive us. Now that I actually *get* it, I feel like I need to make up for lost time and can't learn enough! Your style is so beautiful :)
Toall this people saying she puts herself down too much, that 'she really was beautiful' 'dont be so insecure' 'we are our worst enemies'. That's just your opinion. Stop projecting or making assumptions please, only narcissist talk good shit about themselves in front of a camera, jesus 🙉
I love the combination of this red lipstick and the dark green sweater it's such a fresh and bright look! btw Karolina you're so unfair trashtalking about your modelling photos cause you looked great! You're tall and slim and have interesting face, and very sophisticated hands, you're just very beautiful! I wish you could see it as I believe many of us see!
You're learning to be fearless in improvising your look and that takes time. Ultimately you want to please yourself and I greatly admire that. I'm not a vintage dresser (yet) but could see myself doing it somewhat even though I'm older than you.
I know this was posted in February of 2017, but....it took you 1 hour and -fifteen-twenty minutes to make this video; judging by the clock in the background. Now can I have my cookie, please?
I don't get why this comment section was so sensitive when Karolina posted this video, y'all make it seem like she completely hated herself and I was waiting to be shocked but all I got was some funny reactions to cringey old pictures. Everybody's concept of cringe is different, she may have looked cute in her teenage years to most of you but she didn't like her style back then and has the right to it. I roast my teenage years worse than that so I was expecting this level or higher of self depreciation lmao. It's a funny video tho, makes me reminisce of when I was trying to find myself in a style that felt natural to me, we all go through experimental phases when teenagers.
Gotta say, good bone structure, good color balance and smiles do your old pictures wonders! The white shirt/black pants combo is specially timeless. I'm not nearly as adventurous with my style, but this video gave me some incentive to dust off my beret and my thrifted button up shirts! When quarantine is over, of course.
I understand the strong sense of individualizing in dressing vintage. I dress vintage too. People never forget you when you meet them again. Men and women comment on my outfit (mostly woman) and I enjoy this attention. Like you I like to look at interesting people and I have the confidence to speak to them if I want. People usually give back a pleasant response. It's a fun way to connect with people. As a nurse in scrubs , I am treated one way , as a woman in a great hat , skirt and gloves , I get treated special. I love the video, it's like having a agreeable conversation.
I'm happy so many people pointed it out, but you looked completely normal & pretty in your old photos. The everyday outfit with sweaters and jeans? That's... the basis of most college students wardrobe, me included. The dresses? They were super flattering, imho! Your taste clearly changed and evolved which is valid, but honestly, the amount of self-criticism made me kind of sad!
I've not been studying History of Fashion in a systematic way but I am really passionate and got caught up by your videos, you're fun and I think you're also very competent. I wear vintage myself though I gave up on a "real" retro-looking style because it made me feel old. I started mixing up instead and now I think I got to have my own hybrid style, and I love it, I feel good and self-confident. Beside feeling unique there is also the sustainability issue, that I think it's very important: big fashion brands produce tons and tons of textiles every day and these clothes go everywhere and so often they only last one season cause after ten times you wear them they are stained and shapeless. I feel guilty about buying these clothes, I would love my wardrobe to be 100% sustainable and I'm working on that. That's also why I feel good wearing vintage, it's a matter of quality too. Keep posting good contents, kisses from Milan xxx
I have to say that I agree with you about what people say about you wearing vintage definitely can be uncomfortable but I think the pros of wearing vintage definitely outweigh the cons
I'm still in the one pair of black jeans I wear every day phase.... probably forever, but I'm totally ok with that, and I enjoy admiring the efforts of others! I love seeing how creative people can be with putting together vintage and historical looks and even anachronistic looks. You look cute in all the former looks, by the way!!!
I loved seeing you grow up! Loved the dress w/your Mother's jacket..very flattering. The photo with your hair inside the turtleneck is really pretty, the setting and the pose are great. I think you were very brave to live the most comfortable way you wanted. You felt most comfortable in vintage and you found the courage to do that. Not many people can do that and you did! Congrats!
She had those puffy dresses and her hair was styled as the 50's.
sis you saw god herself
That was a ghost

"Don't be bothered by the Nazi on the left." I laughed way too hard 😂 loved this video.
that was hilarious! :D
@Proud Momma Bee well, it's more funny when you think that it's happening in Poland, knowing what they did there
@Proud Momma Bee Well, I'm sure that to many Jewish, Roma, disabled, and other people, Nazis were in fact "boogeymen."
@@imogenbegns nazist killed milions of polish people in very cruel way
@Proud Momma Bee I hope you're not actually a mother as I would not wish such stupidity to reproduce
"This one pair of black jeans that I would wear everyday." Wow, exposing me like that
Sadly, I find this very relatable
Black jeans are so versatile, I don't even mind!
It is me. I am looking down on my black jeans as I write this, hanging my head in shame. And also in comfort, 'cause they are really great.
When she said she looked fat in her prom dress I choked on my chips
The only things that was wrong with that look (at least to me) were the socks and shoes.
Well shes not wrong.. relative to how she looks in other dresses. That was not a flattering look (just like we've all done) lol
instead of a style evolution video this is a roast ur self video
I've always wanted to wear vintage style clothes ever since my mother found a *REAL* Edwardian Irish Lace tea dress at the thrift store ( absolutely incredible find ) and it fit me perfectly, although it was delicate and stained with coffee or tea.
Also, what's a good length of hair to do a vintage 1930-60s hair do?
ARE YOU SERIOUS? :O Edwardian Irish lace garments are so expensive! Lucky you! And regarding hair, I'd say from below chin to shoulder length should be fine. Of course it depends on the particular decade
Are you serious? I'd LOVE to see that! I bet it KILLS! 💜
Even know I’m not into this style,I’d keep that dress even when its doesn’t fit you frame it or something
Well it wouldn't be a real tea dress without a tea stain, right?
You are quite hard on yourself.
I agree. She doesnt like herfsefl tha much. She is beautiful
She's not insecure, just having a laugh at how she looks, she even says so in the comments.
But I don't think that she is insecure about her past anymore :"D
not true- if you have taste of style you can wear good in every life situations, money or without
I've looked the same since I was 12. My face and height haven't changed. I empathise
Selina Moses I'm a guy and 5 "3. I just stopped growing at 14 , my face randomly aged to like 20 at 16 and I never changed . I am frozen
Jup. Me too. 5ft 1 for win.😂
SAME SAME SAME
Watching this video really makes it clear that we are all our worst enemy. You looked like a normal teenager when you were young, and in several photos you seem to dislike you look really beautiful in.
Cool comment.😊👍
eizhowa, She is so beautiful, and such a charming & charismatic person also.
Just yolo it! There is too little vintage guy action, we need you to join the dark side. Thank you
People who call you a hipster are just uneducated lol. I dress full on vintage and sometimes i get called a hipster lol.
Yes I relate! I either do the half half vintage/modern look and it definitely looks hipster like but I am currently working on a 1925 Summer Men’s outfit, and maybe I’ll still be called a hipster but it definitely won’t be “hip” haha
Wear what makes you happy. I wear my grandma's old clothes from the 70s and I flippin love it
This is gonna sound weird but because of your face shape in the photos when you were half trying you made it vintage.
Also, i'm bringing that up because Karolina is polish as well💕
@LeeLee 34 EXACTLY!!!
@@25bartek Now that you mention it 😂 My friend from Poland looks as if she'd come from a few centuries ago
I'm an American of Polish descent on my mom's side. I never thought of that!
It's always worse at the start, I got into vintage at 16 and had a year of horror before I worked out that wearing men's shirts and floral skirts did not make a 1940's look
Willow Booker wait no? No?? What to wear THEN? :(
Marycat V whatever you like and makes you feel good. (:
O shit im 25 and doing this right now
The fringe with the white blouse and brown pants look absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Girl you are a fashion icon

Damn, I thought "I have something, it seems that I'm the only one who likes that dress", you took a weight off me xd
@@lasofi5510 i love it too, id wear it any day. Felt bad for a bit until i scrolled down to your comments 😂
I'd call it peach rather than pink, but I love it, too.
I love seeing a successful youtuber from central Europe that enjoys vintage. I feel like most are America based and it's really a shame to only get to see the americanised pinup image when really, up until WWII, our old continent was the eye of the storm.
Represent!
I actually really liked the pink summer picnic floral dress and your updo! Everything is so relative. :)
me too, I think the color of that dress suits her perfectly
me too! sure, the pose in the first picture is kind of silly and awkward, but in the second picture she looks so cool! and the dress itself looks great on her, and goes very nicely with the lipstick.
Maija Paija Same I found it really cute
I'm 24 and still don't know what to call my style. I just wear whatever I feel like. lol
Ι would die to see a pic of a 9-year-old goth! Like real goth, not the set up thing they do with child models!
uhh are you me?
Catherine Parr reporting in 3 years after my comment... I make my own clothes now
I got into vintage style during late high school, once I had lost off my baby fat.
"Thats a Priest by the way" *Deal with it* 😂😂😂😂😂😂cracking up
You wanted to look pretty but didn't know how,girl... your beautiful that first picture was precious, so pretty you didn't have to try.
Cheers. :D
The new year's Eve pic looks so cute I actually love the outfit
Also, about the femininity thing: I noticed that too - whenever I do my hair nicely, put on some lipstick and dress more "ladylike", dudes kinda start to behave like gentlemen.
I can't stop looking at the clock. You can see how the time changes so quickly every time a part of the video is cut out or edited. 😂😂😂
^^^ that
Self deprecation is some of the best kind of humor, that’s why.
90s and under is vintage imo. This decades were 20 years ago now
Alexander Rembiszewski actually 20years ago is retro, vintage is 40-50 Years ago but the 70s and (almost) 80s are vintage
I love 90s fashion. I was born in the 90s, but I love the chokers and skirts. lol
lol meee
I love the 70s fashion trends too.
I actually love the prom outfit. It's so unique. The white contrasting with the dark tights and shoes is just gorgeous!
I like that pink floral dress, I think it's the length that makes it look frumpy
The people who laughed at you don't have the courage to wear vintage like you did though.
Świetny kanał, bardzo przyjemnie się Ciebie ogląda. Zawsze czekam na nowe filmy :) Powodzenia w dalszej pracy. :D
What lipstick are you wearing in this video? It's gorgeous! The color is perfect on you!
@Kapichii I think it's one of the long-lasting lipsticks from Maybelline, she said which one it was in one of her grwm videos
Also as always I am love with your outfit and I am so impressed with your hair.
In the movie Persuasion two of the main characters have short hair but totally carry the historical look without wigs.
I loved the sleeveless dress picture. You are and always have been lovely. It was great seeing how you developed your style.
me: genuinely loving the dress
karolina: this dress was just horrible
🗿
In short, i think confidence+ acceptance to yourself who sometime fail in matching outfits+ serious examination on what’s wrong with the outfit= a strong mind that makes you on the track of exploring more possiblities in fashion while making yourself able to dress what you want or more
A video about your best or most interesting second hand finds would be fun to watch~ :)
Agreed
That "OMG I HAVE TO LOOK SUPER ELEGANT ALWAYS" phase you went through in 3rd year of college, I am going through that at 17. I can relate.
I think we should all work towards the world where you dont need a disco bouncer looking boyfriend to feel safe outside in a skirt
I love how you have your own unique style and you don't care what anyone thinks and that's something I highly admire. Keep doin you girl!
I feel like I’m staring at my great grandmother. You’re channel is really amazing.
I know at WW2 events someone has to dress up as a German officer. I just could never do it.
They were such snappy dressers too ... damn ...
🙄
@Anne And that somehow makes the Nazi death count look better or more acceptable? Piss off with your whataboutism and Genocide Olympics crap.
I love this video! I think you're super funny. "Don't be bothered by the Nazi on the left.." cracked me up for some reason 😂
I wore a 1960s vintage dress with beehive style hair a few days ago and so many people stared but I was with my mom so I was ok 😎
not that anyone will read or care but i've always wanted to get into vintage and historical. i'm constantly battling between my everyday style, my 70s style and just wanting to wear historical dresses and corsets. i just found this channel and i admire you for doing whatever you want, you know so much about historical fashion and i love it. you always look very beautiful in your historical garb. honestly i was kind of embarrassed that i liked old timey fashion, but i've been watching your videos all day and they have helped me branch out and find this community. turns out my friend is the same way with fashion and we've talked about going to balls and ren faires! also bought my first corset today, so excited! tldr: love ur videos, they've helped me find a vintage community
I'm the one whose mother and you look exactly the same....so somewhere back in the generations, we must be cousins of some sort!
you are too cute!
Berlin, London, NYC) it would probably be much faster of a transition, only because of the acceptance of "different styles" and plethora of great resources for experimentation (second-hand shops, specialty boutiques, etc)
in the pic from when you were 14 you look like a default sim XD. no shade youre super pretty its just the expression
I love how you talked about your fascination with fashion and your transitions. It made me feel nice about myself too. Thank you.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I LOVE THE OUTFITS YOU WERE SLAYING
I really like your hands.💕 Also, thank you for all the awesome content! I’ve seen so many of your videos, and I always learn something useful!🌸
"Ok I'm hungry that's it" is the most relatable ending to a video ever
@ 9:38
Me, 3 years after this video was posted: Aw, Karolina looks so pretty-
Karolina: OH NO, IT'S SO BAD
You are opening the door for us to compliment people on their style. Sometimes I wanted to, but I thought it would be weird.
11:34 Who else’s jaw dropped?! 😱 She’s so GORGEOUS!
I loved the third photo you showed us at 4:44. The style is perfect!
When quarantine is over, of course.
please do a tutorial on your hair style! it's absolutely gorgeous!
9:40: I actually really like that dress on you :) it's quite flattering in combination with that smile :3
Niektórzy mieli przyjemność obserwować te zmiany na własne oczy! Uwielbiam kanał!!!
That lipstick is so flattering on you 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I loved seeing you grow up! Congrats!
