I intend to use it in water melon farming and the plant spacing would be some 24 inches, which is much more than the 8 inches. I know you don’t grow water melon, but I thought I should ask all the same: Is the one emitter which will not be directly on a plant be an absolute waste of water or will it be beneficial in keeping the spaces between the plants moist? I’m asking this because I think I saw water dripping on empty spaces between some egg plants in some of your videos. Secondly, have you used it and if so, what is your experience with the use of water-soluble NPK in fertigation?

Indeed, temperatures are rising. Climate change is affecting us all. Each year is the hottest year on record, until the next one, and the one after that. We have to adopt different methods of farming to cope with it. E.g. During the hottest months, we start drip irrigating around 05:00 until around 11:00. Then pause until after 15:00 and go until 20:00. That has meant chabging working hours for some team members and introducing a kind of shift system.
If I were to cultivate this plot of land, I would do everything to increase its organic matter content, its fertility and feed its mycorrhizal network (fungi) and bacteria ... So, I'll start by sowing broad beans and other leguminous plants ... These plants will bring nitrogen to the soil. Above all, these plants will feed the soil's mycorrhizal (fungal) and bacterial network... After harvesting my beans, I'll leave the stems and leaves on the ground to increase the soil's organic matter content ... At a glance, I'd say this soil has no more than 2% organic matter. Above 5% organic matter, the soil becomes very fertile, structured and has a great capacity to retain rainwater: 100 liters per m2, or 1,000,000 liters per hectare for 5% organic matter... To preserve the soil's fertility, I cover my soil all year round with dead plants, shredded wood ... This cover will shade the soil and prevent it from burning ... This blanket of dead plants will be eaten by soil decomposers, bacteria and fungi ... Then, these decomposers will be eaten by their predators in the soil, and the digestion of these predators will feed the soil with bio-available molecules for plants ... Finally, any crops grown on this soil will be connected to the mushroom network, which will provide them with water and food. Fungi can also provide the plants with the medicines they need... The same goes for soil bacteria... These plants will grow better because the soil will be in the shade, with plant waste covering it ... When the soil heats up too much, above 30°C, few plants grow well. Plants like to have soil that's not too hot, otherwise they wait until nightfall to grow, when the sun has gone down... Shading the soil is very important, as the sun's UV rays burn off all the life in the soil ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In French : Si je devais cultiver cette parcelle de terre, je ferais tout pour augmenter son taux de matière organique, sa fertilité et alimenter son réseau mycorhizien (champignons) et ses bactéries ...
