There are a lot of comments saying this kind of speed is useless. This is not true. Yes, most people will not benefit from these crazy speeds on the majority of the devices in their home. However, there are 2 major benefits from a system like the one in the video: 1. You can maintain fast speeds from the satellite units in a whole home system. The biggest downside to whole home (mesh) wifi is that the satellite units don’t offer speeds nearly as fast as the main access point so they needed to be wired together for the best experience. Now with wifi 7 you can keep them all wireless and still get great speeds from the satellite units even on your older wifi devices. 2. The other benefit is a super fast connection to other internal network devices such as a NAS or another computer. You may not benefit from these crazy fast speeds to the internet since your internet plan is likely nowhere near this fast but you can still benefit from this on your internal network. Most people don’t have a NAS in their home but this is a big benefit for power users such as video editors, content creators, or IT Pros. TLDR: The average person doesn’t need this kind of performance but it’s beginning to blur the lines between wired and wireless which is beneficial for power users and IT Pros. **Throughput isn’t as important as latency when it comes to gaming so if you’re a gamer you’re still better off with a wired connection.
It's not just about speed, but also about latency, number of connected devices, range and reliability/resistance to interference. All of those improve significantly. And as it is almost as fast as most SSDs, it becomes a viable option to store and use files from a NAS as if they were local to your device. I'd be interested in energy consumption of those, as running 3 of those 24/7 may just get really expensive in europe.

I'm not going to sit here and say that it's useless because it's not. But most residential internet speed is a gigabyte. Least that's what mine is And that's all I see you around. But I think wifi-6 is more than enough for residential purposes... Many others in various segments from mid range to high end, would lose support within around 15 months.

MLO is the real deal here, not only no longer dealing with differrent bands and SSIDs(even with stuff like bandsteering its still painful), but also utilizing them all at the same time. I think wired backhaul will always stay as superior(especially in Europe since 6GHz is limited to 500MHz, not full 6.0-6.9GHz range is allowed yet) you can't fit both main 6G stream and 6GHz backhaul into the band both in 320MHz width. Also at the end its still wifi.

Looks nice; however as you said there are no WiFi 7 clients- and won’t be any until next year. Problems with 6ghz band is that it doesn’t penetrate walls as well or do distance well (higher frequency) - the only reason this works decently currently is that you probably have no contention. Most people aren’t using the 6ghz band yet which helps. I assume the reason this is working decently is because it is using all 3 (2.4,5,and 6) bands. This will not work as well in apartments, hotels, coffee shops, etc. Where it will work well is in single family homes.
You are correct that I’m likely getting good distance because it’s not fighting with other signals. I wasn’t actually using MLO though so all the tests were with it turned off. I actually got slower speeds with MLO on. I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from 6ghz though. Even from Wifi 6E the distance was impressive considering it’s high bandwidth.

Impressive! SHould have grabbed the TP-Link! I went to the top of the list and bought the Netgear Orbi Wifi7. Impressed with the speeds (10Gbps + 2.5Gbps ethernet on each sat) but limited Admin features that the Tp-Link appears to have as standard...
Since I got my first Deco M5 mesh wifi system some years ago after having trouble with Wi-FI in my previous house, I've consistently been happy with it, but even with very consistent updates, they're getting long in the tooth for my needs (And wants if I'm being honest) so even thought these are currently out of my price range, I'm almost 100% certain that these will be the replacement for those as their specs look awesome!
What kind of residential internet plan can deliver modem speeds this high? Sign me up! Would the BE95 kit be giving even faster speeds? Fantastic review
Great review! Will be anxiously awaiting the wifi7 productline price drops! Been running the Deco X90 for few years, no issues, great triband thruput, no deadzones, seamless roaming. TP-Link is great at bleeding edge consumer grade mkt disruption 🙌💯🔥! The only cons are the phone app only based router mgmt and the necessary subscription for full parental controls.. Remember we Always Say NO to subscription based add ons, ppl.. when will they learn..
Some of their models have free tp-link homeshield standard version and require subscription for homeshield pro. Other devices like x60, x20 or m9/m5 have Homecare which was supposed to be free for the first months but turned out to be free forever (at least for the m5, and I think for the x60 too). If you set an m5 as your main deco, it will load Homecare instead of the homeshield standard. Two drawbacks of using one older deco as main, is that it has slower cpu and less memory, so it can struggle in an overcrowded network. The second drawback is that if you add (let’s say) one m5 on your deco network, even if it’s not set as a main deco, some features get hidden from the menu, like the WPA3, because even though it is supported on the newer decos, it wouldn’t work on the m5, so it’s disabled altogether.
I just got the be95 and so it's incredible. I wish i had a wifi7 device to properly test it . Waiting to get 10 gig internet in couple months.....How is the tp-link waps work for you?
Great video. Thanks for the details. Now that Netgear has released their version, can you do something similar comparing the Deco and the Orbi wifi 7 systems?
I'm just getting into the IT field I'm going for my CCNA then my CCNP. And just within the last six months the industry has changed so much. Very soon they'll have 100gbps for consumers...It's crazy but I love it.
Just so you know, having those certifications is very low level. And they say a degree doesn't matter, it does. Having a good degree, the difficult certifications coupled with experience is a win-win. Even then, making high 6 figures in IT these days is very difficult.
But your houses are made of paper and thin wood. We got 8 inch cement blocks for our walls with steel rods and concrete under our feet for each floor. Are you able to find a location to test with or close to those conditions?
And here am I... at the moment moving all my machines to 2.5Gbe... Because I move lots of data over the home network. I feel left so behind seeing this videos now.
Quick correction, 10 GbE SFP should absolutely be on consumer hardware. We now have consumer fibre speeds of 3 if not 5 GbE and manufacturers have not kept up. It shouldn't surprise us to see consumer manufacturers begin to implement this 20+ year old technology. Price parity happened 5-6 years ago with 1GbE. They are just late.
Tp link is very quick to drop very recent routers with updates. Why rush to new standards if you can't maintain legacy devices. We all can't be on wifi 10 12 15
I have a Ubiquiti network at home that is good, but not great. Definitely feels like it could be better. But for $1500, is it better to switch to this or just add more access points to my current setup? I doubt I have many devices that even use Wi-Fi 6, much less 7
This is wild. Are you on a fiber network until your wifi router? Also what level plan do you have? I’ve made a bunch of upgrades to my own system but for the most part everything is wired with CAT8 cables. I have have to use cox and I have their router modem but I’m thinking I need to get a different router modem entirely now.
I have the Deco X60's and they are setup with hardwire backhaul. One in the basement, one in the living room, and one upstairs in my office. With direct line of sight, actually up a slight hill, about 100 yards away, i'm still at 4mbps download and upload. And it quickly increases at I walk closer to my house. Cell signal is almost non-existent in my neighborhood, so this helps a lot while out walking my dog. Plus i've helped neighbors buy and setup these in their homes too, so i'm almost always connected, since they let me on their guest networks! lol $179 at Costco, when on sale!!!
From a science / physics standpoint, why do the upload speeds drop more significantly over distance compared to the download speeds? Never could figure out why that happens even with symmetrical connections... Thank you!
Is the wireless backhaul connecting via the Wi-Fi 7 band ? Will this help get faster speeds on non-Wi-Fi 7 devices via the satellites because the mesh is faster connecting the mesh together.
I know this is not related, but I have to say it. This is the type of man that makes me forget about color. I wish the majority of black youth had this man's mindset. Look at the state of this country. I'm not black (not white either), but it pains to see the majority of black people painted in a certain light when my personal experiences have taught me to know this isn't true. If mindset could shift, color would disappear (on both sides). It's a shame that I'm so used to the blind ignorant anger the black miseducated youth (under 30) so commonly making a public spectacle with their behavior that seeing this man had to bring this to mind. Kudos. Thank you for not being another statistic. And yes, wifi 7 seems exciting. Technology is moving faster and faster. One day maybe everything will be equivalent to the speed of light (just joking). But I can dream.
@@jroe25yt8 I totally agree. I don't know why that thought came into my head. But take it as a compliment. You made an impression on me. You don't speak slang or with an inflection in your voice. And I love that about you. You're just yourself. Hope you understand. If more black youth weren't pressured to follow what they is their culture that they're supposed to follow, we wouldn't have so much country turmoil and division. Edit: you are great example period for youth, but even better for the kids who feel they can only relate to a black person. I can relate to all, but I also understand why some can't.
Do you need to have all 3? I’m in a house of 6 people 2 story house with 2 people playing on gaming consoles and smart home stuff connected to WiFi. Current WiFi is xfinity and it’s terrible.
Not sure if you would answer but I have Verizon FiOS right now using their equipment and my house has no coaxial or ethernet. What can I do to get an Ethernet port in my office or at least increase the Wi-Fi speeds.
So I have the XE75 3-pack mesh connected to my switch with ethernet backhauling. How would 6E wired backhauling compare to WiFi 7 wireless backhauling?
What is the best fiber optic modem that distributes signal to these wifi7 routers? I intend to put 3 tp link deco be85 in my house, but I don't know which modem, as I need one. Another question is whether the network cables should go directly to these mesh routers or do I have to take them to another router or switch as I have many security cameras in my house and I prefer to use cables! please help me with these questions! thank you very much 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Glad I stayed away from a WiFi6e mesh. I've been after a real world test of WiFi7, thanks for doing it! I think I can finally say good bye to the Ethernet I put into my house as a kid in 2001!
To use these would I have to pay for faster internet speeds from my service provider or does the router do all the work? I have an old router from att and my internet is not very fast does this replace that router or work with it?
Very nice review, but you should consider using different devices to do a speed test like an Ipad, laptop and phone that's not Wifi 7 ready. That way most people will get an idea of speeds they may encounter. i get you want to test the Wifi 7 capabilities, but it's always nice to have a sort of real world scenario that most people would have at the moment. Oh and you should have really talked a bit about the price, that alone is going to prohibit most people as they won't want to spend $1600.
I would say next time add 4 smart tv's streaming 4k in different rooms, and then try a speedtest with your phone. This is a real-world scenario if you have a large family. If you were still anywhere close to 1000mbps I would say this is mostly future proof (as long as your neighbors interference doesn't become too much of a problem)
I wish you would have setup up your speed test through the WAN port. A lot of routers have great speed in LAN connections but have limitations on WAN to WIFI speeds, even the 6E routers.
I did run the speed tests through the wan port so it’s still running through the firewall. The router was not in bridge mode. This is no different than any other external Speedtest and is more reliable than using external Speedtest sites.
@@ChrisMajestic Running a speedtest through external sites is just as important though, because it shows what connection speed to the internet you are likely to get, most people just use a cord or cloud services for transferring files from one device to another.
@@MegaLokopo It’s the same. As long as you’re going through the firewall you are still testing what it can do. I’d be limited by my gigabit service if I used an external site which wouldn’t test the multi gig capabilities of the router. The router doesn’t treat my internal network any different than it would treat the external internet. If anything you’d be limited by the sites themselves but not the router.
@@ChrisMajestic I guess, but if you want to actually test the routers capabilities, you should be doing atleast 50 tests not just 10. What use case are you testing for if you aren't testing through to an external site? Home networks are rarely used for direct connections.
Don’t you need at least 3-10 gig internet speed to even take advantage of wi-fi 7? I have 1 gig speed at my house, so there would be no difference between wi-fi 6e or 7 for me, right?
Great job on the video. Really helpful. I just had to buy a new router BE11000 Pro because my old modem/router became obsolete with DOCSIS 3.1. I bought a WiFi 7 router just to stay up to date for longer. I'm not sure my house needs multiple mesh routers but at least it's nice to know I might be able to add routers as needed with easymesh if I need to. Is there a limit to how many routers you can connect to one router? Maybe try 6 routers daisy chained from neighbor to neighbor? Maybe impractical, but I think it would be a cool idea for a new video to see what the speed degradation is.

Impressive! SHould have grabbed the TP-Link!
I went to the top of the list and bought the Netgear Orbi Wifi7. Impressed with the speeds (10Gbps + 2.5Gbps ethernet on each sat) but limited Admin features that the Tp-Link appears to have as standard...
Will keep this device in mind when I upgrad my network.
Chris, you mad man :) I'm sitting thinking I should upgrade to WiFi 6e and here you bust out a WiFi 7...
The second drawback is that if you add (let’s say) one m5 on your deco network, even if it’s not set as a main deco, some features get hidden from the menu, like the WPA3, because even though it is supported on the newer decos, it wouldn’t work on the m5, so it’s disabled altogether.
price drops will take at least 5 years at this current pace
Some phones are Wifi 7 - ready and will receive an update to enable it. Like the Xiaomi 13 line.
TP-Link makes some awesome Network gear. Great review. WiFi 7 ... wow
How many satélites Can you add to one imesh network?
I'm just getting into the IT field I'm going for my CCNA then my CCNP. And just within the last six months the industry has changed so much. Very soon they'll have 100gbps for consumers...It's crazy but I love it.
Just so you know, having those certifications is very low level. And they say a degree doesn't matter, it does. Having a good degree, the difficult certifications coupled with experience is a win-win. Even then, making high 6 figures in IT these days is very difficult.
Was the speed test directly against the router? That latency seems very high given WIFI 7 was advertising sub 2ms.
Great review! - Thanks!
It's getting harder to keep up with all the new technologies Chris! - Cheers!
But your houses are made of paper and thin wood. We got 8 inch cement blocks for our walls with steel rods and concrete under our feet for each floor. Are you able to find a location to test with or close to those conditions?
Hey Chris much respect you are a fellow jack of all trades
OMG we finally get rid of cables !!
Damn…I knew I should have waited. I bought a Wifi 6E system for $1500 less than a year ago. I would have preferred this.
I am happy to sub, much love brother
Insane Speeds and Insane Price, TPLink I will come back after 3 years 😂. Thanks Chris for the detailed review.
This is my first non projector video from you nice 👍
Sorry if i missed it, but what device do you have that connects to wifi7? A phone?
Been waiting on this video. Great content. I’ll probably get the BE95 two pack.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I’m still on 5 with my Orbi mesh.
What Wi-Fi6 mesh system do you recommend?
Awesome your channel just popped up and I subscribed
I have 2G AT&T fiber and I haven’t found anything to help the WiFi. Would you recommend this?
How good was the signal in the Panic Room?
Very interesting. Thanks.
Would you go with the TP link deco 85 or the eero max 7 ?
Now I'm here in my neighbor's panic room and I'm really interested to see how the router works from here.
Finally this will mean true gigabit speeds or more over wifi
Awesome video. food for though.
What is your internet service and what is the max speed feed into your router?
I have a Ubiquiti network at home that is good, but not great. Definitely feels like it could be better. But for $1500, is it better to switch to this or just add more access points to my current setup? I doubt I have many devices that even use Wi-Fi 6, much less 7
This is wild. Are you on a fiber network until your wifi router? Also what level plan do you have? I’ve made a bunch of upgrades to my own system but for the most part everything is wired with CAT8 cables. I have have to use cox and I have their router modem but I’m thinking I need to get a different router modem entirely now.
What modem would you recommend if you were to buy any of these combos you linked?
So … what software/hardware do you use for your internal speed tests?
Was the Fibre connection direct from the ISP or passthrough from a downstream unit?
your wifi outside is better than my network connected through ethernet
I own the model and its insane speeds, software is great also very happy with this model.
That's amazing!! Not sure how many folks would buy it at that price point...would be great for AI and CAD professionals working remotely.
Thank you!
I always figured it was because a client device will have a weaker transmit power (or worse antennas) than the router itself
Is the wireless backhaul connecting via the Wi-Fi 7 band ? Will this help get faster speeds on non-Wi-Fi 7 devices via the satellites because the mesh is faster connecting the mesh together.
Technology of Wifi 7 has been out for a while. I was going to skip wifi 6e but I got a good deal. I will update wifi 7 when it comes out
I know this is not related, but I have to say it.
Very weird comment and bizarre that your mind went there on a video review about a wireless mesh system.
@@jroe25yt8 I totally agree. I don't know why that thought came into my head. But take it as a compliment. You made an impression on me. I don't respect ghetto, inarticulate, uneducated and ignorant people of any kind. I see them as a waste of a potentially good life. And you struck me as the opposite. The guy who is super smart, chill, friendly and would have no problem going to get a beer with. You just happen to be black. You don't make it your personification. Your identity.
@@jroe25yt8- Tis the mindset our current cultural climate is nurturing. :-(
Bro whats the speed of your internet provider?
Do you need to have all 3? I’m in a house of 6 people 2 story house with 2 people playing on gaming consoles and smart home stuff connected to WiFi. Current WiFi is xfinity and it’s terrible.
If I have Xfinity router would that be good to get for the basement? TP-Link Tri-Band WiFi 7
BE10000 (1-Pack)
Not sure if you would answer but I have Verizon FiOS right now using their equipment and my house has no coaxial or ethernet. What can I do to get an Ethernet port in my office or at least increase the Wi-Fi speeds.
So I have the XE75 3-pack mesh connected to my switch with ethernet backhauling. How would 6E wired backhauling compare to WiFi 7 wireless backhauling?
Use SFP+ or Ethernet? Which one better for better connection?
Good video. Does Pulseway use their own tools or use third party tools?
What's the best wifi extender/repeater should I buy for Verizon? Please response. Thanks
What is the best fiber optic modem that distributes signal to these wifi7 routers? I intend to put 3 tp link deco be85 in my house, but I don't know which modem, as I need one. Another question is whether the network cables should go directly to these mesh routers or do I have to take them to another router or switch as I have many security cameras in my house and I prefer to use cables! please help me with these questions! thank you very much 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Wished you showed the speed after using copper or fiber connections
Glad I stayed away from a WiFi6e mesh. I've been after a real world test of WiFi7, thanks for doing it! I think I can finally say good bye to the Ethernet I put into my house as a kid in 2001!
Hiw does it do through rebar and concrete bock walls ?
Do a video of Deco be85 vs orbi 970. Or which would your recommend? Is orbi worth the almost $1000 cost difference?
What's your experience using OnePlus (Android)?
Would this take the place of my AT&T Router or does it connect to it?
So impressively knowledgeable!! I really like your reviews.
Dude thanks for the video! 🙏I have a question, anyone have a Wifi7 device?
If I have only a gig for internet will these still be the fastest routers I can get for my system ?
I wish you would have setup up your speed test through the WAN port. A lot of routers have great speed in LAN connections but have limitations on WAN to WIFI speeds, even the 6E routers.
I did run the speed tests through the wan port so it’s still running through the firewall. The router was not in bridge mode. This is no different than any other external Speedtest and is more reliable than using external Speedtest sites.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks for letting us know.
In your expert opinion, as far as gaming, would this be best or the Asus Rog?
Your speeds get cut in half every time you add another mesh unit.
