There are a lot of comments saying this kind of speed is useless. This is not true. Yes, most people will not benefit from these crazy speeds on the majority of the devices in their home. However, there are 2 major benefits from a system like the one in the video: 1. You can maintain fast speeds from the satellite units in a whole home system. The biggest downside to whole home (mesh) wifi is that the satellite units don’t offer speeds nearly as fast as the main access point so they needed to be wired together for the best experience. Now with wifi 7 you can keep them all wireless and still get great speeds from the satellite units even on your older wifi devices. 2. The other benefit is a super fast connection to other internal network devices such as a NAS or another computer. You may not benefit from these crazy fast speeds to the internet since your internet plan is likely nowhere near this fast but you can still benefit from this on your internal network. Most people don’t have a NAS in their home but this is a big benefit for power users such as video editors, content creators, or IT Pros. TLDR: The average person doesn’t need this kind of performance but it’s beginning to blur the lines between wired and wireless which is beneficial for power users and IT Pros. **Throughput isn’t as important as latency when it comes to gaming so if you’re a gamer you’re still better off with a wired connection.

I have the TP-link be900 , another Wi-Fi 7 router. It is amazing, I used to have a gaming router from asus that dropped connections and the bandwidth was glitchy. With this router, all speeds are consistent and stable throughout the house.
I have the TP Link Deco Wifi 5 three pack system that looks similar to this one just slightly smaller. Ive never been happier or more impressed with a router system...... I've been pushing friends and family to switch to seamless mesh for their homes.....the ease of setup, use and seamless transitions between access points is unprecedented. MLO is the real deal here, not only no longer dealing with differrent bands and SSIDs(even with stuff like bandsteering its still painful), but also utilizing them all at the same time. I think wired backhaul will always stay as superior(especially in Europe since 6GHz is limited to 500MHz, not full 6.0-6.9GHz range is allowed yet) you can't fit both main 6G stream and 6GHz backhaul into the band both in 320MHz width. Also at the end its still wifi.
@@VanceRefrigeratn in my opinion that's pretty hard to cover because you gotta test with bunch of devices simultaneously and with ton of different use cases
TP-Link makes really good hardware, but one issue is their inconsistent firmware update track record, where some models, especially high end ones, will quickly lose support if they do not sell well. For example, their AD7200 routers only got around 9 months of support before the stopped firmware updates. Many others in various segments from mid range to high end, would lose support within around 15 months.
Deco M5 was my first mesh as an experiment. Had it for a few years and loved it. Upgraded to 6e mesh and when the prices drop on wifi 7 will jump on them. Love this brand because it’s a bargain for many people only buying when on sale. Never early adopt tp link “here first “ products.
Nice video, I can see so many benefits. Maybe not so much for a home but in businesses and organisations there is definitely a big opportunity. 1. For point to point connections, eg if you need to link nearby buildings at gb speed without necessarily having to run or lease fibre connections 2. Improvised density, especially if you are responsible for a laptop fleet in an organisation or school or something similar, you can have intent in your upgrades and ensure wifi 7 is included in the config. Within 3-5years you will have your entire fleet upgraded. 3. Planning starts early, it’s not about today or tomorrow, but you are planning the future ; you would definitely consider it especially if you are due for a wifi refresh.
Looks nice; however as you said there are no WiFi 7 clients- and won’t be any until next year. Problems with 6ghz band is that it doesn’t penetrate walls as well or do distance well (higher frequency) - the only reason this works decently currently is that you probably have no contention. Most people aren’t using the 6ghz band yet which helps. I assume the reason this is working decently is because it is using all 3 (2.4,5,and 6) bands. This will not work as well in apartments, hotels, coffee shops, etc. Where it will work well is in single family homes.
You are correct that I’m likely getting good distance because it’s not fighting with other signals. I wasn’t actually using MLO though so all the tests were with it turned off. I actually got slower speeds with MLO on. I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from 6ghz though. Even from Wifi 6E the distance was impressive considering it’s high bandwidth.
There are multiple Wi-Fi 7 clients. Multiple laptops, Android phones, etc. It's just not certified and won't be until at least late 2024 to early 2025. 6 GHz is what provides those peak speeds you saw...
@@ikjadoon What clients? From what I know all QCA chipsets are still in development. Same with Intel. Apple just now has 6e in its lineup and has not announced anything in wifi7 at all. Great review! Will be anxiously awaiting the wifi7 productline price drops! Been running the Deco X90 for few years, no issues, great triband thruput, no deadzones, seamless roaming. TP-Link is great at bleeding edge consumer grade mkt disruption 🙌💯🔥! The only cons are the phone app only based router mgmt and the necessary subscription for full parental controls.. Remember we Always Say NO to subscription based add ons, ppl.. when will they learn..
Some of their models have free tp-link homeshield standard version and require subscription for homeshield pro. Other devices like x60, x20 or m9/m5 have Homecare which was supposed to be free for the first months but turned out to be free forever (at least for the m5, and I think for the x60 too). If you set an m5 as your main deco, it will load Homecare instead of the homeshield standard. Two drawbacks of using one older deco as main, is that it has slower cpu and less memory, so it can struggle in an overcrowded network. The second drawback is that if you add (let’s say) one m5 on your deco network, even if it’s not set as a main deco, some features get hidden from the menu, like the WPA3, because even though it is supported on the newer decos, it wouldn’t work on the m5, so it’s disabled altogether.
TP-Link is definitely pretty good. I am running an AX1500 Wifi6 router with a T-mobile gateway and the speed through out our house is awesome. Definitely not as fast as wifi 7 but it does get the job done without any signal attenuation.

I'm just getting into the IT field I'm going for my CCNA then my CCNP. And just within the last six months the industry has changed so much. Very soon they'll have 100gbps for consumers...It's crazy but I love it.
Just so you know, having those certifications is very low level. And they say a degree doesn't matter, it does. Having a good degree, the difficult certifications coupled with experience is a win-win. Even then, making high 6 figures in IT these days is very difficult.
ohh my goodness, i literally just heard about wifi7 a few days ago... those speeds are insane... i'm not gonna mess with wifi7 yet... i'm at least 2-3 years away from doing anything with wifi7... but, it does look impressive...
This is so cool. But CAUTION before you run out and buy this note that at the time of writing this comment the Wi-Fi 7 spec has yet to be officially released. Meaning that this device may or may not fully comply with the Wi-Fi 7 specifications. It has not been officially ratified, and there may not be updated to be officially supported by Wi-Fi seven devices which can lead issues.

Great video. Thanks for the details. Now that Netgear has released their version, can you do something similar comparing the Deco and the Orbi wifi 7 systems?
Thanks for the info Chris great video!👍🏽 I currently have AT&T fiber 1 Gbps but looking to have optimal connectivity throughout my house due to it being 2 story. Should I invest in this or the Deco XE200?
This is wild. I have 5Gbps at home and only have Eero routers for Wi-Fi. Been trying to find something to take advantage of it so good to see the initial tests panning out. Maybe in the next year or so we can see cheaper versions and more tech using w7
I wish you would have setup up your speed test through the WAN port. A lot of routers have great speed in LAN connections but have limitations on WAN to WIFI speeds, even the 6E routers.
I did run the speed tests through the wan port so it’s still running through the firewall. The router was not in bridge mode. This is no different than any other external Speedtest and is more reliable than using external Speedtest sites.
@@ChrisMajestic Running a speedtest through external sites is just as important though, because it shows what connection speed to the internet you are likely to get, most people just use a cord or cloud services for transferring files from one device to another.
@@MegaLokopo It’s the same. As long as you’re going through the firewall you are still testing what it can do. I’d be limited by my gigabit service if I used an external site which wouldn’t test the multi gig capabilities of the router. The router doesn’t treat my internal network any different than it would treat the external internet. If anything you’d be limited by the sites themselves but not the router.
@@ChrisMajestic I guess, but if you want to actually test the routers capabilities, you should be doing atleast 50 tests not just 10. What use case are you testing for if you aren't testing through to an external site? Home networks are rarely used for direct connections.
Great job on the video. Really helpful. I just had to buy a new router BE11000 Pro because my old modem/router became obsolete with DOCSIS 3.1. I bought a WiFi 7 router just to stay up to date for longer. I'm not sure my house needs multiple mesh routers but at least it's nice to know I might be able to add routers as needed with easymesh if I need to. Is there a limit to how many routers you can connect to one router? Maybe try 6 routers daisy chained from neighbor to neighbor? Maybe impractical, but I think it would be a cool idea for a new video to see what the speed degradation is.
I have the Deco X60's and they are setup with hardwire backhaul. One in the basement, one in the living room, and one upstairs in my office. With direct line of sight, actually up a slight hill, about 100 yards away, i'm still at 4mbps download and upload. And it quickly increases at I walk closer to my house. Cell signal is almost non-existent in my neighborhood, so this helps a lot while out walking my dog. Plus i've helped neighbors buy and setup these in their homes too, so i'm almost always connected, since they let me on their guest networks! lol $179 at Costco, when on sale!!!
I was thinking about reviewing a Wi-Fi 7 extender I am on FiOS currently using their equipment. One of my videos on my tech channel did really well with testing routers
Very nice review, but you should consider using different devices to do a speed test like an Ipad, laptop and phone that's not Wifi 7 ready. That way most people will get an idea of speeds they may encounter. i get you want to test the Wifi 7 capabilities, but it's always nice to have a sort of real world scenario that most people would have at the moment. Oh and you should have really talked a bit about the price, that alone is going to prohibit most people as they won't want to spend $1600.
And here am I... at the moment moving all my machines to 2.5Gbe... Because I move lots of data over the home network. I feel left so behind seeing this videos now.
I've had my eye on this system for a while, but I elected to get their 6E system for now since it'll be a whole before I have any BE clients. My municipal fiber service offers up to 2 Gbit but I need to upgrade the rest of my network.
I just got the be95 and so it's incredible. I wish i had a wifi7 device to properly test it . Waiting to get 10 gig internet in couple months.....How is the tp-link waps work for you?
Great video! Im 52 years old and still trying to figure this out. Does getting any of these mesh devices to speed up my internet/computer matter if the cable company still sends a crappy signal? What I mean is if i have basic cable i still have slow internet right?
You will never get an internet connection speed faster than what you’re paying for. Anything faster than the speed you’re paying for only makes your internal network connection faster.
And I thought (in the beginning of the video) I'll skip Wifi6e and go directly for Wifi7... but then, during the video I thought... do I need it? I use it mainly for VR. My standalone headsets are the Quest 2 (soon to be replaced by the Quest 3) and the Pico4, both which don't even have the speed of Wifi6 let alone Wifi7. I just rearranged my router(s) so that I have a good signal in the room where I play. I'm good for now. Then at the end of the video where you came with the price... yup, I'll wait a little longer with even thinking of buying that kind of router. I'm covered now.
That's the weirdest, I have 'only' 1Gbps up/down internet connection with Asus RT-AX86U and 2 Asus RT-AX92U WiFi routers. And am using the same speedtest app as you do. Usually I use Speedtest app from Ookla and getting normal speeds like 700Mbps up/down on my phone. And on my laptop on Ethernet connection around 940Mbps up/down. So I don't know what the app you are using is measuring..?
I would say next time add 4 smart tv's streaming 4k in different rooms, and then try a speedtest with your phone. This is a real-world scenario if you have a large family. If you were still anywhere close to 1000mbps I would say this is mostly future proof (as long as your neighbors interference doesn't become too much of a problem)
I recently bought and returned the Deco XE-75 Pro. I wanted to like them really bad. I have around d 25-30 Kasa smart plugs and am a big fan of TP-Link. The hardware was really nice and the setup was super messy. thier app looks great and I was really exited especially considering the price compared to competitors. Well things went down hill from there. Devices frequently connected to access points much further away rather than connecting to the one next to it. No problem right? In the app you can force connection to a specific access point. Well that feature never worked. Not once. You can also set which access point each unit connects to so if you are far away from the main unit you can piggy back of another satellite rather than going back to the main unit. Cool feature, it didn’t work either. I also just had many connectivity issue I never had when I was using my old Orbi router. Like some have said Tp-Link makes great hardware. The software not so much but I see how this channel has become a TP-Link fan page. Understandable when they keep giving you that sweet free swag!
Quick correction, 10 GbE SFP should absolutely be on consumer hardware. We now have consumer fibre speeds of 3 if not 5 GbE and manufacturers have not kept up. It shouldn't surprise us to see consumer manufacturers begin to implement this 20+ year old technology. Price parity happened 5-6 years ago with 1GbE. They are just late.
I am from Iowa, and I am still rocking tvs, electronics, and consoles that can only handle WiFi 5, my internet company hasn’t even switched over to using WiFi 6 - 6ghz bandwidth yet, and I go through mediacom and the standard still is wifi5E…. So yeah it’s still very sad here in the Midwest we don’t even know what WiFi 6 is….
What is the best fiber optic modem that distributes signal to these wifi7 routers? I intend to put 3 tp link deco be85 in my house, but I don't know which modem, as I need one. Another question is whether the network cables should go directly to these mesh routers or do I have to take them to another router or switch as I have many security cameras in my house and I prefer to use cables! please help me with these questions! thank you very much 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
This is wild. Are you on a fiber network until your wifi router? Also what level plan do you have? I’ve made a bunch of upgrades to my own system but for the most part everything is wired with CAT8 cables. I have have to use cox and I have their router modem but I’m thinking I need to get a different router modem entirely now.

Some phones are Wifi 7 - ready and will receive an update to enable it. Like the Xiaomi 13 line.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks for letting us know.
Very interesting. Thanks.
TP-Link makes some awesome Network gear. Great review. WiFi 7 ... wow
Damn…I knew I should have waited. I bought a Wifi 6E system for $1500 less than a year ago. I would have preferred this.
Your speeds get cut in half every time you add another mesh unit.
Awesome your channel just popped up and I subscribed
Hey Chris much respect you are a fellow jack of all trades
great video! thank you for sharing! that is pretty impressive!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I’m still on 5 with my Orbi mesh.
What Wi-Fi6 mesh system do you recommend?
Thanks Chris. 👍🏼
Great review! - Thanks!
New Wi-Fi every year 😮
I’m at a Gig with AT&T and they offer 5Gig and I have an Eero Pro 6E.
Would love to test out the highest end systems.
OMG we finally get rid of cables !!
I own the model and its insane speeds, software is great also very happy with this model.
Lolz the speeds hes getting outside the house in the drive way is what I end up getting sitting in the same room with my accesspoint! 🤣🤣
Would you guys recommend going with WIFI7 or perhaps the ORBI MESH WIFI 6E system? Thanks.
Great review 🙏
Now I'm here in my neighbor's panic room and I'm really interested to see how the router works from here.
Good video. Does Pulseway use their own tools or use third party tools?
That's amazing!! Not sure how many folks would buy it at that price point...would be great for AI and CAD professionals working remotely.
And here am I... at the moment moving all my machines to 2.5Gbe... Because I move lots of data over the home network.
I feel left so behind seeing this videos now.
Awesome video. food for though.
Technology of Wifi 7 has been out for a while. I was going to skip wifi 6e but I got a good deal. I will update wifi 7 when it comes out
Very awesome soon as our netgear router goes we might upgrade to this sucker. :)
Nice video!
I've had my eye on this system for a while, but I elected to get their 6E system for now since it'll be a whole before I have any BE clients. My municipal fiber service offers up to 2 Gbit but I need to upgrade the rest of my network.
So you are saying I need to replace my dial up 14.4K modem? 😂😂😂
Great review! Oh bleeding edge sounds silly to my ears, MKBHD says it and I always think "that's not a thing man"
Great video, please share how to use VoIP phone with this type of Mesh system when all of these don’t have a phone socket 😢 Just Subscribed 😁
I definitely need this router for my 5mbps internet connection 👀
It makes sense to add an SFP+ port as a lot of 10Gbe equipment (router/switching) will have SFP+ also, given cost and heat dissipation of 10Gbe-T
Yes. Heat is a problem. When using a SFP+ module you could hear the internal fan kick on
@@ChrisMajestic and 10gbaset is even worse
it's really good to have if you're thinking about running a wire from one mesh to another in separate buildings, because of grounding issues.
@@Layarion although in that scenario very likely that would be an uplink between two switches and the the AP connected to the nearest switch
I’m curious, would it be possible to use the sfp + connection as the wired back haul between the two devices?
Great video , thanks man.
Great Content
I just got the be95 and so it's incredible. I wish i had a wifi7 device to properly test it . Waiting to get 10 gig internet in couple months.....How is the tp-link waps work for you?
Watching this video with 30 mbps 😢 your speed is crazyyyy!
Wished you showed the speed after using copper or fiber connections
Great video! Im 52 years old and still trying to figure this out. Does getting any of these mesh devices to speed up my internet/computer matter if the cable company still sends a crappy signal? What I mean is if i have basic cable i still have slow internet right?
You will never get an internet connection speed faster than what you’re paying for. Anything faster than the speed you’re paying for only makes your internal network connection faster.
All this power to stream a low bit rate version of terminator 2 in 4K.
🤣🤣🤣
Was the Fibre connection direct from the ISP or passthrough from a downstream unit?
How good was the signal in the Panic Room?
I’m still using Apples Airport Extreme Base Station which has a Mesh Network. Had it for YEARS. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
And I thought (in the beginning of the video) I'll skip Wifi6e and go directly for Wifi7... but then, during the video I thought... do I need it? I use it mainly for VR. My standalone headsets are the Quest 2 (soon to be replaced by the Quest 3) and the Pico4, both which don't even have the speed of Wifi6 let alone Wifi7. I just rearranged my router(s) so that I have a good signal in the room where I play. I'm good for now.
Then at the end of the video where you came with the price... yup, I'll wait a little longer with even thinking of buying that kind of router. I'm covered now.
How many satélites Can you add to one imesh network?
With my Samsung Galaxy S23U i've installed the same app as you use. Getting over 6000Mbps download on Wi-Fi 6 alteady 💪
With what router/ap? It would have to have a 10G wan port.
Losing weight I see. 👀 Looking good bro. Might have to change your moniker to Chris Muscle 💪🏾
🤣🤣🤣 I laughed entirely too hard at this. Thanks
Was the speed test directly against the router? That latency seems very high given WIFI 7 was advertising sub 2ms.
Interesting for the future when we have more devices that support Wi-Fi 7.
What is the best fiber optic modem that distributes signal to these wifi7 routers? I intend to put 3 tp link deco be85 in my house, but I don't know which modem, as I need one. Another question is whether the network cables should go directly to these mesh routers or do I have to take them to another router or switch as I have many security cameras in my house and I prefer to use cables! please help me with these questions! thank you very much 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Would you please consider comparing the TP Link Deco BE16000 vs AX3600? OR the Orbi 960 (or BE85) vs RBKE963? Huge price differences!
Random question, what monitor speakers are those in the background. Looks like I see horn tweeters?
This is wild. Are you on a fiber network until your wifi router? Also what level plan do you have? I’ve made a bunch of upgrades to my own system but for the most part everything is wired with CAT8 cables. I have have to use cox and I have their router modem but I’m thinking I need to get a different router modem entirely now.
