    Thanks for the video. Are sweets considered to be food ? I tend to take packets of extra strong mints and things like fruit pastels for the car journeys.

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому

      You're welcome! Yes, sweets, including extra strong mints and fruit pastilles, are considered to be food and should be declared upon entering New Zealand. The country has strict biosecurity laws to protect its agriculture and environment, so it's always best to declare all food items, no matter how seemingly insignificant. Declaring these items at customs is straightforward, and the officers will let you know if anything is not allowed. It’s much better to be safe and declare everything than face potential fines for undeclared items.

    Hi Robin & Laura, I've read some articles about campervan/motorhome vehicle parking issues, but it seems that everyone's talking about parking "overnight" which makes me confused about where I can park a campervan/motorhome vehicle "temporarily." My wife & I am going to NZ next year for travelling around the South Island and we're planning to rent a motorhome for a part of days due to its mobility. When we go to Milford sound for the cruise, could we park the vehicle at the parking space near to the wharf for like two or three hours and enjoy our cruise?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  9 місяців тому

      Heya, yep temporary parking is allowed in Milford Sound. Just leave your curtains opened and you'll be good to go. Same tip applies if you park at night somewhere, leave your curtains open so officers can see that you are not sleeping in there😊

    My husband and I will be coming to New Zealand for two weeks. Is it OK to have my medication's in a medication organizer? Is it OK to have my medication's in a Ziploc bag with the prescription on the outside of it? Can I bring a bag of unopened quaker oats? and Cheerios? Are we allowed to bring a bag of coffee and if so does it have to be an opened?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  2 місяці тому +1

      For traveling to New Zealand with medication, it's best to keep them in their original packaging with clear labels and your prescription. Using a medication organizer is generally okay for personal use during your stay, but having the original packaging available can help if there are questions at customs. A Ziploc bag with the prescription on the outside is a good way to keep everything organized, but again, have the original containers and prescriptions handy.
      Regarding food items like Quaker oats, Cheerios, and coffee, New Zealand has strict biosecurity rules to protect its agriculture and environment. Pre-packaged and sealed commercial food items are usually allowed, but they must be declared on your arrival card for inspection. Opened food packages, especially for items like coffee, might have more restrictions or need inspection to ensure they are free of contaminants.
      To make sure you have all the correct information and to avoid any issues at customs, check the official New Zealand Customs and MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries) websites for the most up-to-date regulations on bringing food and medication into the country.

    Hey there....I thought I may ask this question again in case you have stopped answering questions from older vids. I want to bring my normal over-the-counter pills for heartburn and headache but didnt see any section on the card to declare them. I understand they want info on prescription drugs and quantity but see nothing about carrying and declaring supplement and such. THX

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  4 місяці тому

      It's always a good idea to double-check these things. Typically, arrival cards focus on prescription medications and larger quantities. For over-the-counter pills like those for heartburn and headache, you often don't need to declare them unless you have a substantial amount. However, it's recommended to keep them in their original packaging to avoid any confusion. If you have specific concerns, you might want to contact the relevant authorities or check the latest guidelines online. Safe travels! ✈️🌍

    is colgate toothpast with flavour of bamboo charcoal and mint consider as plant or pants product ?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  4 місяці тому

      If you meant "plant product," then the answer is no. Colgate toothpaste with the flavor of bamboo charcoal and mint is not a plant product. While it may contain certain plant-derived ingredients, it is primarily a hygiene product. But feel free to check in with biosecurity just to be safe.

    Hi there! ♥ Thank you for the video. I have a question: I'm bringing three bottles of asthma syrup, but it's just a precautionary measure. While I used to use it, it's now solely for emergencies, and I don't have a prescription for it. Should I mark 'No' or 'Yes' in the Medicine section? Thank you.

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому

      Hi there! ♥ You're welcome, and I'm glad you found the video helpful. When it comes to bringing medication into New Zealand, especially something as critical as asthma syrup for emergency use, it's always best to err on the side of caution and declare it by marking 'Yes' in the Medicine section. Even though you might not have a current prescription for it, declaring ensures that you're fully transparent with customs officials and can avoid any potential issues upon entry.
      To facilitate the process, try to bring the asthma syrup in its original packaging if possible, and any documentation or old prescriptions you might have that explain its use would be beneficial. New Zealand customs are generally understanding about medications for personal use, especially when declared and explained.

    Question: What if we are NOT staying in any hotel just camping. We will not have an address. Would we use the campervan rental office address?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, if you're not staying at a hotel and plan to camp or travel in a campervan without a fixed address, using the campervan rental office address is a practical solution for the traveller declaration card. Make sure to include the full address of the rental company. This approach is commonly accepted for travelers who'll be on the move.
      It's also a good idea to have a rough itinerary or the name of the first campsite you plan to visit, in case further details are required upon arrival.

    In the older video, you put a X at Yes or No, but the form show to put a tick. Are both X or tick acceptable?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому

      Yes, both an "X" and a tick (✓) are generally acceptable when indicating your answer on forms like the one for customs or immigration. The key is to clearly indicate your response to each question, ensuring it's easily understood by the officials reviewing the form. However, following the specific instructions on the form, such as using a tick if mentioned, is always the best practice. If the form specifies to use a tick, it's advisable to do so to adhere to their guidelines. Thanks for pointing out the difference; clarity in such processes is crucial. Quick question about medicine....if you are bringing in medicine prescribed for you and only around for 2 weeks then I guess on Question 6: Medicine you put 'No' right? I got all my medicine prescribed in original packaging and prescription as well.

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому +1

      For bringing prescribed medicine into New Zealand for personal use, especially if it's for a short duration like 2 weeks, it's generally recommended to declare it to avoid any complications. Even though you have the medicine in its original packaging along with a prescription, it's safer and more transparent to declare it on your arrival. This way, you ensure that you're fully compliant with New Zealand's customs regulations. So, on Question 6 regarding medicine, it would be advisable to answer 'Yes' and provide details as necessary.

    @NZPocketGuide Im confused about question 5. Are you bringing animals or animal products/plant plant products? Im going to pack some individually wrapped pre packaged snacks like Kind granola bars for example. Do I need to declare this? Im not bringing jars of honey or loose nuts

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, even if you're bringing individually wrapped, pre-packaged snacks like Kind granola bars, it's best to declare them when entering New Zealand. The question about bringing animals, animal products, plant products, or food includes any food items, regardless of their packaging or form.
      It's better to declare items you're unsure about rather than risk penalties for not declaring. Most often, commercially packaged snacks like granola bars are permitted, but it's always up to the discretion of the biosecurity officers.

    I'm sorry, can you help me with "goods carried on behalf of another person"?
    I move first without my wife and I bring some of her stuff, for example her perfume and clothes, should I tick yes? Or goods here are only things for sale?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  4 місяці тому

      When traveling to New Zealand and bringing items that belong to someone else, such as your wife's perfume and clothes, it's generally a good practice to tick "yes" for the question about "goods carried on behalf of another person." This isn't limited to items for sale; it includes anything that isn't personally yours.
      In your case, declaring your wife's belongings ensures transparency and compliance with New Zealand's customs regulations. When you arrive, simply explain the situation to the customs officer. They'll guide you through any additional steps, if necessary. It's always better to declare items to avoid any potential issues.
      For more specific information and guidance, you can visit the New Zealand Customs Service website or contact them directly. Safe travels and hope your move goes smoothly! 🌿✈️🧳

    What about melatonin gummies, would they need to be declared as plant product?

    • @NZPocketGuide
      @NZPocketGuide  3 місяці тому

      It's always wise to declare any items you're unsure about when entering New Zealand, including melatonin gummies. While melatonin supplements are not typically considered plant products, they fall under the category of medication or dietary supplements, which should be declared as well.
      By declaring them, you allow the biosecurity officers to quickly determine if the product is allowed into the country without any issues. It's a straightforward process and ensures you comply with New Zealand's strict biosecurity laws.
