    Thanks Dad! My husband and I started our tsa/Global Entry back in October 2022. I was approved in a day. I think it was having had my fingerprints recorder in the past 5 years for my employment. It took my husband 6 months to be approved. Lucky we live within a few hours of DC and were able to schedule our interviews together 2 weeks before our trip.

    Girl! You remind me of myself. Started watching some of your old videos. I was married for 25 years, had 1 daughter. Lived in FL. I finally flew the coop. Sold everything and downsized to a small condo. I sat, night after night, looking at cabins in the NC mountains. I finally decided to just go for it! Left with me and my cat. Didn't know anyone there. Yes, my family thought I was crazy. Anyhoo, lived in the mountains for 5 years and loved it. Just love that you encourage women to DO something with their lives. Thanks !!!!

      Also, when I moved to the mountains, the first thing I did was join a hiking group, then joined the local farmers market to sell my handmade jewelry. Happiest time ever!!! Made so many friends. Back in Fl. now, helping my daughter with her business. Happy here too ! Good luck in your travels!

    Comment about global entry: the last few times I’ve traveled internationally, the global entry lines took longer to get through than the regular customs line. This was because there was only one global entry agent vs several regular customs agents processing passengers.
    Similar experience with TSA pre-check. Seems it’s become so popular there’s more people in that line than the non pre-check passengers.

    • @GenxGypsy1968
      @GenxGypsy1968  Рік тому +1

      Interesting on the Global Entry! When I came back through Houston two weeks ago, there was only one person in front of me at Global Entry, I was through in less than a minute and there was still a very long line for regular passport control. Definitely depends which airport you're going through 😔. On the other hand, TSA pre-check is waaayyy busier than it used to be and like you said, not always quicker!

    • @angelrosee73
      @angelrosee73 11 місяців тому

      @@GenxGypsy1968 Just a few days ago at JFK New York the Global Entry had 6 open scanners and one agent who only needed about 5 seconds to verify you and let you pass - so very easy & quick while the regular customs queue was at least 30 minutes long. So very worth it after a long travel day!

    Thanks to your dad! One thing I was hoping to hear in this video is WHEN you have to go through passport control. I leave for Greece next month and have a layover in Munich. Can I just go directly to my connecting flight or do I have to go somewhere else first? On my way back home, I go from Athens to London before arriving back in the US. What should I expect there? So yeah, I'm still not clear on what to do where and it's been several years since I've flown international. Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thanks!

    Traveling 🧭 by airplane ✈️ with a dysfunctional family is especially stressful for someone on the autistic spectrum so I will definitely need assistance when traveling even though I don’t have any physical or intellectual disabilities. My social skills are very poor though and I can’t interpret what others mean with their body language which makes traveling 🧳 out of the country especially challenging 😰!

    Craziest thing ever… came back from Brazil last week and my husband was able to do his global entry interview and fingerprinting with the customs officer when we were clearing customs in the US. No waiting no going to another area within the airport - nada. What?!?! He has been waiting 9 months for provisional approval. My global entry was done and completed last year when I came back from Rome but I waited 2 hours at the CBP area for my interview. BTW we applied at the same time last year. Again… crazy! Maybe they have changed something since it is taking so long to receive provisional approval?? Safe journeys and keep the awesome vids coming! ❤

      Wow!! What airport did you come in through? Would be good for others to know 😊. I just renewed my Global Entry last week because I was concerned about possibly having to do an interview. Was approved and renewed in 2 days 🙌😊

    Can't believe you missed this one: Know the restrictions on what is and is not allowed into the country before you pack your suitcase. Meats, plants and plant products, weapons including mace, drugs including pharmaceuticals, expensive gifts... all these and more may be restricted or prohibited. Bring a doctor's note for all medication, keep meds in original containers, show receipts for gifts (be aware you may have to pay a fee for expensive gifts). If you get flagged for secondary Inspection, and you are not aware of these restrictions, you can lose such items entirely, or have to pay a fee in order to keep them. And do not lie about the contents of your bags or you could even be denied entry. Many countries want to see proof that you are leaving within a certain time period. In the absence of a return ticket, you may be required to prove that you have a residence, or a job to go back to.

    We are travelling to Greece (from U.S.), and want to bring about 9500 dollars in cash with us. Can we keep the cash (and passports) on us in our pants pockets when going through security or customs? I would hate to have to put cash in that plastic bin, only to have it stolen! And is the limit still 10,000 dollars? Thanks in advance!

      Anytime you are arriving in a country you will have to go through some sort of Passport control and customs. So yes, you will go through customs at Heathrow and again when you arrive back in Newark. Are you staying just in the UK or going elsewhere in Europe while you are there?
