I only remember it was Queens… from my age of 9-11 years old we lived in Lyall Bay and my parents moved us out to Porirua.. I spoke about Lyall Bay is one of my videos 2 years ago.. Sharing a childhood memory with my viewers. I haven't been back for years but I grew up in lyall Bay in the 70s and 80s! Behind rongotai boys college haha and used to get fish and chips as a kid from rongotai rd fish and chips which was owned by Greek family(all fish and chips were greek owned back then)miss the deep fried donuts and paua fritters haha those were the best memories,and going to lyall Bay beach for a orange chocolate chip ice cream dipped in chocolate 😄🙏

I always order double chips from there and then at dinner time reheat in the air fryer even if you keep them in the fridge for next day they just as good. Cheaper than buying frozen beer batter macain ones

My mum worked for a Gisborne fish n chips place called The Trend. The best thing was cooking in Beef fat. The original way. Beef fat retains the taste and locks it in, much more healthier than todays oils. Beef fat also is solid at room temperature meaning its bonds are more stable at high temperatures. Also makes it easier to clean up, just wait for it to cool. Beef fat is now priced out of the market because of cheap vegetable oils, unfortunately 😢 Also Captain Morgans had the best burgers. Bit different now tho.
@@nameless1873 lard is pig fat, beef fat is dripping or the fancy name, Tallow. Lard has the same oleic acid amounts similar to extra virgin olive oil, not the refined stuff. It has 48% "monounsaturated acid" second only behind Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Fish and Chips are usually done in Canola oil these days, this is a genetically modified unless stated. It is a Canadian product, Canadian Oil Low Acid. The plant is a hybrid of the Rapeseed plant, so it is basically a Rapeseed oil with lower acid. Canola and ALL plant derived refined oils are processed using a toxic chemical called Hexane. You cannot remove all of that from the produced product. Canola in particular has no smell because it is chemically deodorised. It smells purty because they remove its putrid smell.

I'm from the u.s. cuzz, the combo looks slammin but don't do the fried stuff to often over this end. But when I do, the fried fish will be a sandwich and the chips will have cheese wiz on them (cheddar cheese sauce)! Maybe some ketchup, tartar or cocktail sauce would be involved! ✊🏼👍🏼✌🏼🙋🏼♂️

My mum worked for a Gisborne fish n chips place called The Trend. The best thing was cooking in Beef fat. The original way. Beef fat retains the taste and locks it in, much more healthier than todays oils. Beef fat also is solid at room temperature meaning its bonds are more stable at high temperatures. Also makes it easier to clean up, just wait for it to cool.
Beef fat is now priced out of the market because of cheap vegetable oils, unfortunately 😢
Also Captain Morgans had the best burgers. Bit different now tho.

we call that lard and once food is warm or cold you can feel that hard fat. Its disgusting
@@nameless1873 lard is pig fat, beef fat is dripping or the fancy name, Tallow.
Lard has the same oleic acid amounts similar to extra virgin olive oil, not the refined stuff. It has 48% "monounsaturated acid" second only behind Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Fish and Chips are usually done in Canola oil these days, this is a genetically modified unless stated. It is a Canadian product, Canadian Oil Low Acid. The plant is a hybrid of the Rapeseed plant, so it is basically a Rapeseed oil with lower acid.
Canola and ALL plant derived refined oils are processed using a toxic chemical called Hexane. You cannot remove all of that from the produced product.
Canola in particular has no smell because it is chemically deodorised. It smells purty because they remove its putrid smell.

Kos I Can do they have battered Sav in NZ? From my local fish and chips shop I like Potato Scallops, Battered Sav, Chips, Hamburger. I also like Tasmanian Scallops and Calamari. Last night I shared this video with my friends from Wellington NZ. Take care.

I'm from the u.s. cuzz, the combo looks slammin but don't do the fried stuff to often over this end. But when I do, the fried fish will be a sandwich and the chips will have cheese wiz on them (cheddar cheese sauce)! Maybe some ketchup, tartar or cocktail sauce would be involved! ✊🏼👍🏼✌🏼🙋🏼♂️
