when i was a kid, on Wednesdays we'd bring our $2 to school and they'd take a fish'n'chips order in the morning and at lunchtime the van would arrive and bring my 'pies and chips'. unconventional but I still remember peeling that pie lid and dipping my chips into it and thinking life was pretty good.

Island bay Patricia pie are the best I’ve ever had, its abit pricey but its worth every cent. I remember growing up in island bay going there with my siblings, i think the daughter is running it now, the owner passed aways a few years ago.
I think I've only had their pies once from Island Bay Trish's pies they well known in Welli was gona go there maybe if I do a part 2 too many good bakeries around cheers for the comment 😊

Damn - my kind of vid . 29 years in welli and 23 in aus ( mostly sydney) ..i can say aus pies cant even compete with n.z pies..most are garbage. Pies that are normal in n.z are called gormet in aus. I used to live up the road from hataitai bakery ( yeah i lived everywhere bro) we used to go to bakery at silly hours of morning while they were still baking...sooooo good. Uso dont bother with cannons creek brother they are disgusting! Seriously you’ll waste your money you’ll prob give it a 4 or 5 tbh. Its better now than a couple years ago but still horrible. Ive gone to almost every bakery in wellington to look for a decent pie and Waitangirua your right is good for $5 and the bakery in the hutt. Raised in Auckland you could go to almost any bakery and its better than Wellington pies. If you go to Hawkes bay the best bakery would be BJ’s bakery and better than any pie Ive had in Wellington. Wellington pies for me are disappointing.

No good pies in Australia. Plenty of expensive ones though lol. Hataitais got a good rep for their pies but nearly all the bakeries in WGTN city are good when it comes to pies. Theres one right in the middle of the Wainui shopping centre that goes off.
Around 16 years ago I had a pie from Thorndon New World supermarket, I found them to be a lot nicer than Chaffers (Wellington New World) not sure if any of the pies have changed.

New World Thorndon definitely has the best tasty pies (Steak and cheese is so good) in Wellington in my humble opinion. Prefer their pies over the Wellington City New World pies. Been to the Hataitai Bakery at the end of a night out and really like their Pork Turnover pastie and enjoy their pies too. Will have to check out the last one. Also good pies at Courtenay Place bakery, especially after a night out.

Kia Orana Kos, I remember that Waitangirua Pie shop. Steak and Kidney Pie the best. Every time Im in Wellington visiting the families, Im always at that Pie shop. Miramar Supreme bakery had good steak and cheese pies. Id enjoy them more in the early mornings straight from the oven to the warmer when i used to be in the area doing the milk run. Haven't been there in a while. Good content.
Keep these reviews coming. I'm a Kiwi living between the Gold Coast and Sydney. There are a couple of good places on the Gold Coast that remember to keep the humble pie, a humble price. NZ is way more cultured on pies and in my experience between the UK, Australia, and new Zealand, New Zealand has a bakery everywhere that have good pies with remembering to keep the prices as humble as the pie itself.

Totally agree. Haven’t tasted anything close to the Naenae hotbread pies and I’ve lived in wellington, Auckland & Australia. Well Australia doesn’t count really 😂 when it comes to quality pies hehe
@13:00 I remember going to MIT in Otara around end of the 90s at 20ish and in the shopping centre across form the carpark there was 3 bakeries all selling the same stuff, super yellow pasty (cheap flour) pies etc but all the pies were still $1.60 for a basic mince, nothing over 2bucks for anything else. Even back then most places pies were at least 3bucks. Man I got fat over so many lunch times in those 3 years ! The cheaper bakery pies always seem to hit home more than the more Gourmet options in most cases I've found in my 46years.

I Just absolutely love you guys!! Have just been to the Haitaitai pie shop on the strength of your review - and it was truely great - the sally lun I also got there was a trip back to my childhood. I'd love to see you do other bakeries like Grammercy in Berhamphore (they regularly have queues down the street) as well as the pie shop in Raumati Beach (their pepper chicken pie is killer). Keep up the fantastic work!!

New World Thorndon definitely has the best tasty pies (Steak and cheese is so good) in Wellington in my humble opinion. Prefer their pies over the Wellington City New World pies. Been to the Hataitai Bakery at the end of a night out and really like their Pork Turnover pastie and enjoy their pies too. Will have to check out the last one. Also good pies at Courtenay Place bakery, especially after a night out.

Yeah bro NZ staple meat pies.Myself personally I like mince,steak and bacon and egg pies,only because when I was growing up that’s all there was back in the 70’s and 80’s.I’m from Tokoroa our old bakeries are gone but Lomond bakery and KK bakery have pies that I like.Nice review of the pie shops bro.

Miramar Supreme bakery had good steak and cheese pies. Id enjoy them more in the early mornings straight from the oven to the warmer when i used to be in the area doing the milk run. Haven't been there in a while. Good content.

Keep these reviews coming. I'm a Kiwi living between the Gold Coast and Sydney. There are a couple of good places on the Gold Coast that remember to keep the humble pie, a humble price. NZ is way more cultured on pies and in my experience between the UK, Australia, and new Zealand, New Zealand has a bakery everywhere that have good pies with remembering to keep the prices as humble as the pie itself.

Used to go to the bar in Hataitai on a friday night for a few jars and play pool then hit the Hataitai bakery afterwards. Used to be open till 4am on a Saturday. Lovin the vids uce

@13:00 I remember going to MIT in Otara around end of the 90s at 20ish and in the shopping centre across form the carpark there was 3 bakeries all selling the same stuff, super yellow pasty (cheap flour) pies etc but all the pies were still $1.60 for a basic mince, nothing over 2bucks for anything else. Even back then most places pies were at least 3bucks. Man I got fat over so many lunch times in those 3 years ! The cheaper bakery pies always seem to hit home more than the more Gourmet options in most cases I've found in my 46years.

I Just absolutely love you guys!! Have just been to the Haitaitai pie shop on the strength of your review - and it was truely great - the sally lun I also got there was a trip back to my childhood. I'd love to see you do other bakeries like Grammercy in Berhamphore (they regularly have queues down the street) as well as the pie shop in Raumati Beach (their pepper chicken pie is killer). Keep up the fantastic work!!
