I just got back from skiing at this same resort and its the reason why I will be moving to Utah after I'm done with graduate school if not sooner. This terrain will suit my training as I attempt to defy age and compete in alpine downhill ski racing! Great motivational video!
Just returned from skiing holiday. Doug I've watched this a hundred or more times over the years, It's my ultimate motivational video. Thanks so much. Don't know you but Thanks
Some fine No-Pro footage. The start of this course is terrifying. He doesn’t exaggerate about how quickly it drops and gets up to speed. Forty years growing up and skiing nearly everything in Utah and I turned out within 30 feet. Downhillers are a different breed.
@sibbo10 Brilliant perspective....watched it 5 times. Man that's as close as I'll get to the downhill..ever!! Big kahoona's Dougie..you're the man!!. Gary.
Oh god yes. The waist gadget + the Streif would be too awesome. Good luck trying to fit any commentary in though. I like the setup. I mean, besides building the camera directly into the brim of the helmet, how can you attack a run when you trade in your poles for a tv cam?
awesome vid! I snowboard, but for me the men's downhill is the best event in the olympics, hands down. Does anyone remember the downhill course in where they had that "tower turn", 180 hairpin loop? I beleive it was the games in Norway or Serejevo.
I did that entire route (there's no course set up now) on 12/25/2010 at 10:00 am. 1:30, lol, I did that from the women's start (men's start was destroyed with moguls) in about 3 minutes on my board and I almost shit my pants. Too many people stop before the Grizzly DH, it's very dangerous to go full speed there. Plus, it gets all chopped up after 12pm. That's a super fast course.
Can somebody confirm or unconfirm that the start of the MENS downhill at Salt Lake is SEVENTY degrees? I could swear I read that in a ski magazine from that time.
There's no way the main slope is 70 degrees. It.s probably closer to 40 or 45, although I took a line off on the men's start last year that my ski tracker recorded as being 62 degrees.
Awesome indeed! Five stars for a unique and exciting video. I wish there were more of these on UA-cam.

Can't Believe I'd never seen this.Great work, other than talking to myself through my runs, I couldn't imagine commentating my entire DH runs...

Holy Crap! I'm exhausted just watching from that POV! Wow!

The slope is 70%, which converts to about 37º-38º.
