While not optimal, Ican maybe see murder in a K'rrik deck that really needs a lot of creature removal for it's meta as it essentially costs 1, evo wilds if iin any deck makes sense in a 6 coloured pip commander, mana geode however? No. Don't play that card plz

Same here. Sometimes it feels like people forget that there's more to cEDH than Thoracle, Breach, and Craterhoof.

Technically with Sanctum of All on the battlefield, Corbin should have gotten two shrine tokens out of each ETB so really he just won even harder lmao

Niv mizzet can definitely be cedh but is very draw/opening reliant I've had a niv player scoop because I cast phyrexian revoker naming jeweled lotus when they had one turning their turn 2 niv into an unplayable hand

A little something that I saw, creatures keep their slime counters when Toxrill leaves the battlefield, so Alela should have died a turn earlier
Go-Shintai is an awesome card design. I'm glad that they gave shines more pieces and a specifically designed commander. Well piloted in this game as well.
This episode left me saying, "go! Shintai!"
It's a bit strange that someone's "spiciest list" would contain Murder and Mana Geode but, ok I guess...
Why would Quinten even cast the Ophidian Eye there with no way to kick off the loop. It's got Flash he could of waited until the end of Noah's turn at least. Kind seems like he just painted a target on Niv again just to lose his combo piece and gaining nothing......not even gonna talk about the Evolving Wilds and Mana Geode 🤦♂️
Yeah it's a shame. I was trying to look up niv mizzet commander games specifically so to have one of the few videos of him out there on UA-cam be of the player just flopping left and right sucks a bit. Thankfully seeing shrines pop off for once redeemed the video a little bit, but it did seem like the table just let the shrine player get out of control way too fast. Obviously I don't know every card they had, but I have a suspicion they could have done better. Overall it felt like a "high power" EDH video and not a proper cEDH game.
Could we please have an updated list of Go-Shintai. Looks very fun but the linked list doesn’t seem to be the same as what was played. Great video btw!

I feel like only Noah's and Corbin's deck were actually cEDH, the others had some very questionable cards in them
That’s what I was thinking, I know it’s mono-black, but murder? And an evolving wild in Izzet colors? You can run what, 7 fetches, and a lot of other mana fixing. Seems like this game was skewed form the start.

I think Corben should have taken an extra 5 damage when attacked on turn 12. He didn't count the +1 power bonus given by Alela to each of Noah's flyers

As a Niv-Mizzet Parun player, I am very disappointed with how quinten performed
I would disagree on the most valuable card. If you ask me it was Deafening Silence. It slowed the early game so that Go-Shintai could pop off and it made interaction extremely difficult since there was not a lot players could do.

@@MrSlaressi would totally play evolving wilds, it's a 2 color deck. Bad cards in tergrid was pretty unexcusable having soooo many cards available that say each player discards or sac for cheap and he did almost nothing all game, so many single players discard or single target kills .... Deck isn't synergizing right
I realized that Corbin was gonna be flexing early on, but I didn't realize that he was gonna be Go-Shintai-token flexing.
As a reminder Alela gives flying creatures +1/+0 (I didn't dig through much but at 11:30 corbin only took 5 from the 3 faeries and Hushbringer when it should have been 9) it didn't change the outcome since it wasn't enough to sway life totals.

What a weird game. That Niv deck was.... strange. Wizard class? Kasmina? The X burn spell?
Wizard class might be to make Niv massive to win with commander damage, the x burn spell is maybe just a 2 mana draw if needed(?), kasmina is good for giving Niv pseudo ward, as well as drawing a card to trigger curiosity if needed. The deck did play some odd cards but I liked it
@@fosterdawson7339 wizard class was spicy. Kasmina idk, I prefer Spellskite or Boots instead. About the burn spell, there are better things to run instead, bounce spells are a way to save Niv from removal.
Awesome game, here's hoping for more non-traditional ones like this one

quinten definitely shouldve used the overloaded rift on corbins turn after he was mana spent to slow him down for two turns. Hindsight always 20/20 and still great game
Go-shintai of life’s origin makes TWO tokens with Sanctum of all on the field and six or more shrines. He would have wiped the other players out with Sanctum of stone fangs as it resolved.
I never thought about Toxrill in shrines. Weakening the board so you can grind out easier.
Toxrill or Elesh Born in that slot. I'm specifically running Toxrill because I'm also running brudiclad to turn all tokens into shrine tokens 😂

Correct. Husbringer only stops abilities triggered by explicitly a CREATURE entering the battlefield, regardless of what that triggering ability is glued to
@@alexzander7629 Ah, so that's why Aura Shards wouldn't trigger because it does if a Creature ETBs, which Husbringer stops. Yet noncreature permanent ETBs still activate even if the source is a Creature.

I have a sisay, weatherlight captain deck that feels very similar to Corbin’s deck. Very cool seeing it play out!
I love Coebins take on that commander. I was thinking about making a more budget version. I will take some cards from the list i did not think of.
Why did Quintin play Ophedian Eye if he didn't have an Instant or Sorcery to follow up with it?
I sure wasn't expecting Mana Geode to make an appearance. I guess the idea is to have rainbow mana for things Tergrid steals?
Also, shouldn't the Hushbringer have made Theoretical Duplication not trigger? Not that it was necessarily that impactful, considering.
Hushbringer only stops abilities from triggering... theoretical duplication gives a delayed effect.
@@EDRVerano I'm not sure what you're claiming, but Theoretical Duplication's ability starts with "Whenever", so it's a triggered ability.

The shrine deck looks extremely fun to play.
It is, I play a relatively similar one and it's fun to see your value get out of control.
Wtf was that counterspell war over a simple village rites? Why did Quinten spend a card just to make Reed draw 2?
I think they thought the dragon wouldn't sacrifice if the village rights didn't resolve, but obviously it was sacrificed as an additional cost. The other thing I was thinking, was maybe they were hoping Tergrid Drew another kill spell for walking ballista in response to Noah giving it life link
Around 16:32, i think there was a missed draw trigger from the blue Honden. Its a lot of card draw that you have to draw. It might have decked Corbin.
There was, and it was around 50 cards too (because it triggers twice).

why did quentin counter the fierce guardianship?
Love Go-Shintai but it should have made 2 tokens per shrine when sanctum of all was on the board. Also I think people were ignoring hush bringer. Great game though
They were not ignoring hushbringer but it’s only when a creature enters that it prevents the entering not when an enchantment enters

It would have made 2 tokens per trigger... If it was still on the battlefield. Noah swords it earlier and I never replayed it 😅
This was a great game, very refreshing than seeing the same 13 cards played over and over again. A shame so many mtg fans are toxic...
Watching Quinten set up Curious Niv with no backup in place TWO separate times was extremely painful to watch.
Doesn’t seem like Cedh here, maybe just high level EDH from some of the decks. The Niv and Tergrid decks seems completely outclassed. There were a lot of very weak, sub-optimal cards from those lists.
Ah tergrid remember when everyone was concerned about it until we all remembered that we could always hit the tergrid player to death

We have the Mox Pearl tier. Other than that we try to make it out to conventions whenever we can in order to play with fans.

I think the decklist for corbins deck is incorrect. Their are several cards he played in game that are not on the list.

WOW, amazing game to Corbin, I'm gonna start to build my Go-Shintai, but obviously budget.
Some suboptimal cards showing up in this cEDH game. While I believe cEDH is more of a mindset, I understand if other people were expecting more optimized decks.
Could also be some budgetary restrictions depending on where they're playing? But I def agree with you

So, the link for the Go-Shintai deck does not match the played deck? Possible to get the true decklist? Looking at options for my shrines deck that just isn't playing the way I want it to.
once again it becomes painful to see that there isn't more enchantment removal in CEDH, as this has become a recurring problem I've seen play out in a number of games both here and elsewhere. Heres hoping to see more out of the box decks that can handle these kind of boards better.
I run Calming Verse in decks for this very reason. It destroys most stax pieces

Why hushbringer did not stop the shrine commander trigger?
Hushbringer Reads "Creatures entering the battlefield or dying don’t cause abilities to trigger". Go-Shintai of Life's Origin triggers on shrines entering the battlefield. And thus the non creature shrines still trigger Go-Shintai. The triggers by Enchantment Creature Shrines like Go-Shintai of Shared Purpose, would be prevented by Hushbringer.
The go-shintai list that is linked is not the same one that corbin played!

If you compare the list for Tergrid on the link provided it doesn't have Murder on it but in the video it has. That's kinda misleading. Should've posted the decklist that was used

At 7:10, when Corbin discarded Binding the Old Gods, shouldn't the Tergrid player have gotten it since Tergrid was in play?
with the trigger to return on the stack, Go-Shintai returned Binding to the battlefield before Tergrid could grab it

After rewatching the video and counting every card that came out of corbins deck he would in fact died to his missed double hondon of seeing wins trigger on his last turn. His library only contained 33 cards and he would have been forced to draw 26 cards twice. Like the channel a lot but this game seemed to have more rules violations then most...
Glad someone else saw this. Sadly old hondens aren't a may. He would've drew out. He should have chord for lab man if this was the case. He does die in upkeep otherwise.

The narrator kept counting shrine creation triggers after my Commander got swords. I ended the game with 3 shrine tokes and 9 "real" shrines. I drew 24 cards in my upkeep like I was suppose to. But yes, if my commander was still on the field, then I would of used Binding the Old Gods to destroy the Honden off of the Replenish instead of destroying the Wizard Class.

Shouldn't Corbin have created 10 shrine tokens from life's origin? He has over 6 shrines on the board when Life's origin triggers and so it should be doubled by sanctum of all. At least that's how it always works when I cast replenish in my shrines deck on MTGO so I assume that it's working as intended. Then again, I'm no judge or rules lawyer so I could be wrong and MTGO is bugged like it always is.
Yes and no. You're right, it would of happened that way, but I didn't have my commander on the field! It was swords and I didn't recast it, so the last couple of shrine triggers never happened. I don't blame them though, My board was pretty convoluted.

We didn't have his deck, so we needed to use a close approximation.

@@Technogeek101 Life's Origin was in the commander zone. It got swords @10:58 and I never recasted it. The announcer is counting triggers that aren't happening. I don't blame them though, my board is sooo convoluted lol.
