Ahhh, losing damage nitigation to maintain the cosplay! Definitely could feel that fight. Nice dodges on the triple swipes. Not sure why those clip me a lot.
What helped me when practicing this fight was watching for Malenia to swing her arm to her side with an orange spark effect. This always signifies the triple slash. That triple slash attack is tricky because it actually has two variations. One with a final horizontal swipe which is slower. (This one can be punished) and another with a faster final swipe. (She can immediately act out of this version and start another attack.)
@@MrElixerGaming In most cases it is harder to dodge away from the triple slash. It gap closes fairly well. I guess you had a headstart with the run back but you did it consistently! I'll have to rewatch for that. Some videos and my experience, it is better to roll INTO the triple slash to the upper right (her left shoulder), then either a) roll directly backwards, or b) continue rolling past her. I don't mind her final strikes too much, but they do hurt a LOT if they connect. Also it does suck when she chains this SAME triple slash move 3-4 times in a ROW (happened to me about 6 times lol), and if your final dodge position isn't good, you can't really dodge it anymore since she is too close. The right answer is probably to try to cancel/poise break her out of it but that's usually a bad / risky trade/move if she was going to do something else like the 1-2 'basic' combo (which can nearly kill anyone). Malenia... so much fun. :)
Yep, you got it, the run back before rolling is definitely key. As far as the consistency, I think practicing the fight with light armor or at least light enough to get you to a light roll can help tremendously with the dodge timing (better i-frames).
Thank you! There are definitely much stronger weapon and build combos to win this fight faster. Still, I can't deny there was something that really appealed to me about beating Malenia using only "taijutsu" haha.
