📚 Description: Today we "uncase" the 4 guitars I got in trade towards a deal on my Modern Flying V. I typically don't like multi-for-one trades and only accept them if the deal is right (and they're local.) The new owner of the Flying V knew he was trading some equity away, but he didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to own that modern flying V and he didn't want to sell the guitars individually. It was a win for all of us!
This "solid" guitar trade was mainly for a bunch of SG (Solid Guitar) models and I also got one Jackson. Unfortunately, the condition just isn't there for most of these pieces so it is simply "catch and release" but these will make great players for someone!

I loved the Supreme. It was such a cool calm color scheme to it bu tyet so mysterious in the finish.

And now you’ve got me thinking ... in ‘54 I wouldn’t have got a Supreme, an SG, a blue flame top and not even humbuckers. But now for 2020, 🧐 hmmm, a blue flame carved top stop tail SG Supreme with a single bridge P90, trapezoidal inlays.
Okay there’s my dream. Now I’ll take that nap.

The SG supreme is El Magnifico
That line is present in most Jackson’s that have a satin neck. I talked to a rep from Jackson and that line is where they hand rub “Watco Natural Danish Oil” on the neck. The other side is where the body is sprayed, especially useful for when the guitar is “neck through” much like a firebird.

The GoPro's audio isn't the best. The different you're hearding between boxing and unboxing comes from headmount vs handheld
Some truly sweet guitars, I loved that blue/gray SG and that gold top single P90 LP has always been awesome. I hope whoever bought it is going to play it.

Dave I think Gibson might have a winner with that blue/grey SG Supreme if they dropped a single P90 in the bridge for me.
The term "mágico" is an adjective and it means "magical". Maybe that's why they dropped the "el" because "the magical" wouldn't make much sense. Not that the name as it is makes much sense anyways lol
IDK about spanish, but in Portuguese Mágico is both an adjective (magical) and a substantive (magician).

8:20 Put a roller bridge on it. Seriously, do it. Get either a locking roller bridge or a regular roller bridge with locking studs.
Great video as always. Personally if I bought a guitar with repair work I would appreciate before and after pictures were taken. It gives a good sense of if the repair was done properly or not. I'm also surprised when I've bought guitars from highly rated sellers and they do not declare damage that can't be seen in photos. So far I've had paint discolouration(on nitro so fine, I guess) and fret sprout, from sellers with years of great feedback.
Always Love a good SG review.
My favorite is that Randy Roads v with reverse head stock. I use and own similar kind of RRX24 v. Mine is black with green bevels reverse head stock. I was kind of hoping to see one of these in show at some day.

What are the key differences between the 59 and 58 reissue
Neck shape - '58 is slightly fatter than '59. Price - '59 costs more. Top - usually more flame on '59, but always exceptions

I bought a blue sparkle top custom shop recently. Had no idea it was R0 spec. So a regular pickguard don’t fit, tuners are 8.8mm bore instead of standard 10mm, abr-1 drilled directly in the body. I didn’t think it would be spec’d like that considering it’s a blue sparkle top? But the R0 neck is pretty sweet. Reissues are weird. Nice guitars. But I just prefer modern spec’d guitars. Abr1 drilled into the body always weirds me out a little. Lol
I hated the modern flying-V when it first came out, but the looks have grown on me over time. Hope you get more to feature on the channel!
I want him to review the boxer bass and the duff mckagan (not the deluxe) signature bass. They're very similiar basses and I'd like to see his review something like what he did with the jimmy pages

Can you link to the black lacquer touch up paint you use? Is there a specific method to apply it?
I have an old discontinued Gibson branded touchup pen. Stewmac sells their own varity. It is just like using a marker

Thats why Gibson SG's suffer neck dive! All that metal for the vibrola was originally meant to be there it balanced the original design! By switching to a tunomatic the weight dissapeared!
Is there any "down-side" to getting a "Modern Flying V"??? Like, is it afflicted with the same tuning problem ("G" String chronically out of tune) as the Les Paul?? The headstocks are different, so maybe not.
Please review the AY SG Trogly! Awhile back I was even thinking to offer to ship mine to you just to get it documented since there’s not enough information about them here on UA-cam. Crazy how I’ve lost a knob top as well as my trem arm cracked also. Mines very much player grade as well haha.

Hey what’s a good guitar to get into Gibson. I’ve been more of a fender guy but I want to get into Gibson.
In my opinion, an SG. The SG is a little cheaper than some of their other models and in my opinion plays the best. And I've owned several different Gibson models.

I would say a les Paul studio. Or a used standard. Les Paul is the bread and butter of Gibson so if you want a Gibson then that’s it. Otherwise if you wanna get real fancy, something Gibson does that fender doesn’t is a great hollowbody, so am es-335 would be the one in that category. But yeah pick up all of the types until you find one good for you
I’m a Fender guy myself. Specifically a Telecaster guy, who has never paid much attention to Gibson electric guitars until the last few years. My favorite Gibsons are Les Paul Juniors and Specials because they basically Gibson’s version of an Esquire/Telecaster just a simple, workhorse of a guitar. Someone else mentioned the ES models, and I’m a fan of the ES-339 also. I agree with the others that you should pick the one that feels and sounds right to you.

SG supreme - Why do SGs look so "naked" without scratch plates? That S3 looks so good that it could sound like toilet water and I wouldn't mind. That Ibanez could be a Strat-Stang-Caster??
