  • Being in a passive position in a rally is for many people a death sentence. Hopefully you'll realize with this video that by preventing some common errors, a lot can be done to prevent that situation from being a hopeless one.

First of all, I truly want to thank you all for watching and for the 1k subscribers. I never expected my channel to grow this fast and I am incredibly grateful that it is doing so well. Videos will come out every Friday!
    A quick announcement though:
Because of my schedule (university + practice + club matches + giving a few practices here and there + seeing family and friends + this channel), this video is shorter than I originally planned. I also noticed that if my videos get towards the 20 minute mark, a lot of people won't finish the video in its entirety.
And even though this year will be challenging for me when it comes to finding time, I don't want to compromize in quality or in uploading frequency. If I were to produce videos that are 15 mins or longer, I don't think I could keep up the pace.

Landed on heel, it is excellent, I cannot generate power on forehard topspin without it, thanks

Great addition with the new mic. And it almost was angelical that the lights went on when you introduced the video (there's no such thing as coincedence). I personally didn't mind the lengthy first video's! Maybe an idea of adding a block with the previous points in the top right part of the screen whenever a new key point is introduced? It saves the viewer scrolling back to see if he remembers correctly. Especially since all the key points are just as important as the rest, haha. I'm still a fan!

Thank you for another great video. I am struggling with my footwork and I'm seeing the flight path of the ball a bit too late, which leads to blocking out of position as you showed in the video. The advice of "blocking with your hip" is a good one IMO, I'm going to put it into practice. Any advice of exercises or drills that I could do to improve this?

You can go many different directions with it, as that keypoint also applies on playing topspin. So I'd say something like 1 forehand, 1 backhand could be useful (1 or 2 if you want to make it irregular) or 40% of the table, but everything with backhand, so that you have to take the little steps to the side on each ball. You can btw do those exercises both in block and in topspin.

@@OlavKTTT thank you. I sometimes do "long-middle-backhand" exercises, but I rarely do irregular training. When I know where the ball is coming, I can get in position, it's only when I don't, I seem unable to move fast enough as my prediction and early direction observation are not well developed. I'll try more irregular training.

Congratulations for your new mic. Videos are much better now. Content was always great.
What mic do you use now (lapel or boom)? What are the challenges faced? Feel free to write here in case any help in needed.

Thanks, it's a lapel mic but the quality is just inherently not good enough (in my opinion), so I think I'll just look for a new one instead of spending all my time editing out the crackling etc.

I know... first and last time it will be used. The way you hear it, is even an audiotrack that has undergone a lot of finetuning and cleaning. It was much worse before! Unfortunately, I shot 2 other videos that day. The search for good audio on this channel continues!
