There is one on the Courthouse that is still operational, and there used to be one on top of the Catholic School until about a year ago. These things work a hell of a lot better than the ASC stuff Winnebago County purchased. THe sound of the thunderbolt is unmistakable.
There were no sirens in Belvidere at all before the tornado. The Thunderbolts were installed originally in 1969 (Courthouse and Catholic school). This one dated from the 80s I think. They are all gone now.
@murrfarms I don't know for sure. There may be more than one 1000T in Belvidere but this is the only one that I have seen. I haven't noted siren location in Boone County like I have in Rockford/Winnebago County. One thing is for sure, I could hear the Winnebago County ASC Units during the period of silence from this one.
@rebeltag You know, I totally forgot this was Boone County lol. There is another, on top of the Boone County Courthouse in downtown, and there's also a couple of 2001s scattered around town too. I actually didn't even know about this Thunderbolt being there, I thought the courthouse one was the only one left. Wow, now that is awesome! Those things really do carry, that's for sure.
@rebeltag Todd, there is another tbolt on top of the courthouse... there is a vid someone has of the siren on youtube. the closest to this siren is a sth10 and a 2001.
I've seen this unit in person, it has to be one of the best looking Thunderbolts I've seen. Very clean and well maintained. Sounds great.

Very nice! The attack signal even matches Tinley Park's 1000T's.
