In this video, we will be comparing two popular dog breeds: the Giant Schnauzer and the German Shepherd. We will examine various characteristics of both breeds, including their bite force, speed, size, athleticism, coat type, protective nature, and how good they are with family and other dogs.
First, we will take a look at their bite force. Both breeds have strong jaws and are known for their powerful bite force. However, the German Shepherd is generally considered to have a slightly stronger bite force than the Giant Schnauzer.
Next, we will compare their speed and athleticism. Both breeds are muscular and athletic, but the Giant Schnauzer is generally faster and more agile than the German Shepherd.
We will also compare their size and coat type. The Giant Schnauzer is a large dog with a thick, wiry coat, while the German Shepherd is also a large dog with a dense, double coat.
In terms of their protective nature, both breeds are known for their loyalty and protective instincts. However, the Giant Schnauzer is typically more territorial and protective of its family than the German Shepherd.
We will also examine how good they are with family and other dogs. Both breeds are generally good with children and can make great family pets. However, the Giant Schnauzer may be better suited to families with older children, as they can be quite active and boisterous. When it comes to other dogs, both breeds can be trained to get along with other dogs, but the Giant Schnauzer may require more socialization and training to be comfortable around unfamiliar dogs.
Overall, this video will provide a comprehensive comparison of the Giant Schnauzer and the German Shepherd, helping viewers to determine which breed may be best suited to their lifestyle and needs. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Giant Schnauzers don’t shed but GSD shed heavily. In my book this puts the Schnauzer in lead in Armor/Coat.
Good point!
Giant Schnauzer for me 🐺
I've owned both German Shepherds and have 2 Giant Schnauzers now. German Shepherds are easier to train because not as stubborn and pick up a little quicker in my experience.
Thanks for sharing your experience with these breeds.
I would have to call it a tie. The bit about being best with family and other dogs...very subjective and would depend on the individual dog. I think that both are great breeds. I am a Giant Schnauzer owner, and so I am a bit biased.
They are both elite dog breeds.
Giant Schnauzer for me. Far superior.
👍
Had a German Shepherd as a kid. We now have 2 Giants (our 2nd and 3rd). For me the very slight edge goes to the Giant. Very little shedding is a huge plus for us and when we had our first we also had 3 children and the dog was phenomenal with them. I agree with @davidphillips1845 that they are stubborn but they still extremely smart and easy to train. You can't let them get away with much and due to their extreme energy. They will push you. Our experience with all 3 is that if you lay down the law they are very obedient. Either one is a winner!
German Shepherds have unfortunately almost been ruined in the US due to bad breeding. That said they are fantastic when physically healthy and mentally stable. Both when good specimens are great dogs with different personalities. I've never worked with G Schnauzers but would like to. Ive seen them work and been very impressed. I remember one in particular doing crowd control in Berlin after soccer fans went nuts, it was amazing.
Yes they both are great breeds.
My 8 month old puppy giant just got off the scale at 88lbs. A solid male is usually around 100lbs.
Do you train/make him eat something special?
@@clintwestwood3539 I feed him meats. Some raw and some cooked. Each day he eats about 2.5-3lbs of meat. Daily I usually feed the following meats (in order of how much of each meat he eats per day) - ground beef, chicken necks, beef “steak meat” of some variety, ground turkey, pork tenderloin, beef kidney, liver, and heart meat, chicken liver.
@@karlswart meat from the store for example? What type raw if I may ask? I have the zwerg (smaller one) but I wanted to gift my father the giant and any information is useful. It’d be used as a protective dog for my mother while she does stuff in the city since she feels “not super secure” if you know what I mean
Thanks
@@clintwestwood3539 there’s good info on the Barf diet, also Skansen kennel website has a good guide with some general dieting advice.
Salmon especially when young . My three Giants all 120lbs plus
Bite force the Giant Schnauzer is coming in with a bone crushing 556 PSI!
Is this documented? 500psi is over the pitbull one and close to a Dogo/Corso which were both war-dogs. Literally dogs used in wars prior to 1900.
Giants were also dogs of war used by Germany WW1
The Schnauzer in my opinion is physically stronger of the two. That in combination with the 530 + PSI bite force. I believe the GS is the winner over the GSD.
👍
Schnauzers dont get hair all over Shepherds sure do #1
Good point!
I think it’s a tie but Giant Schnauzers live longer and most male Schnauzers weigh about 90 lbs
👍
Agreed, but I think the European Giant Schnauzers are a little bigger.. Our male, a Giant Schnauzer from Poland, is around 110lbs. He is a very muscular and active 4yo. Our female is around 65lbs, from a very popular breeder in California. We have owned both breeds and love both. One thing for certain is the Giant Schnauzer does not shed and the GSD sheds a ton. The flip side of the coin is the Giants require regular grooming.
Agreed I have a freak female giant who’s 104-105lbs all muscle
WTF is 'stability' ???
Exactly my thought.
I would guess temperament.
Which dog is the most stable.
I pick the German Shepherd!
Great choice!!
DOWN GOES FRAIZER! DOWN GOES FRAIZER!
He yelled 3x Down goes Frazier!
Btw, I bought once a George Foreman Grill! Over 100 Million sold!
Also, George Foreman has had German Shepards for years and had one with him in Zaire when he fought Ali,
When We Were Kings,
aka Rumble in the Jungle!
Thanks for reply . Didn't mean to sound rude
Ive had three Giants all 3 well over 100lbs and in shape . Dont know where your 85lb statistic comes from
That's the standard for the AKC
There is a reason police use gsds. Just like there is a reason police are moving to the mal. Some Bree’s work better than others
You're right
Police and prisons also use giants
NO
👍
Giant only
I’m sorry but this is way off.
The giant schnauzer is MUCH larger than 85lbs and that’s what the average FEMALE weighs. I have a bullish female who’s 104 lbs YOKED all muscle. Her father was 134lbs and built like a linebacker.
Secondly, where did you get the variables for stability? Giants sashes are one of the few breeds that possess extremely high outfits of cognitive neuropathy. Making them far superior!!!! In all things that require THINKING.
We have to take into account health - the giant is much healthier. They have way less complications.
The bite force alone would allow it to MAUL a GSD.
If you know you know. The giant is the clear winner here
I understand u might have a large schnauzer but in this video I used the standard size and weight of both breeds by AKC standards.
