Where in "Upstate" are you located? I was born in Syracuse and lived there for 10 years (+/-). Left during the blizzard of 1978 for the Panama 🇵🇦 🇵🇦 Canal Zone 🇵🇦 . Got to Howard AFB and the heat was radiating off the tarmac!
Hello from the UK, my whole family have spent the last few days watching all your videos to help with our problem, we had 3 dogs and unfortunately our oldest sweet girl passed away over a month ago so we have now two fur babies a 5 yr old cockerpoo and a 1 yr old cocker shipoo. Last weekend out of the blue my 5 yr old has started attacking the younger dog with no warning (younger one asleep on the floor) and pinning him by his throat and it happened on Sunday about 4 or 5 times! The last time my husband struggled to get the older dog off his throat. So at the moment we have separated them ( luckily my in-laws live over the road) during the day completely and then at night one sleeps upstairs the other downstairs. But I am desperately seeking some advice into what we should do to get this to stop. We are so worried he will kill the younger one. Thanks hope you can give me some help with this terrible situation. 😢😢😢
I love how every person hold the leash in both hands at first. I did it too. When I switched to one hand and quit looking down at my dog ALL the time our leash skills went up drastically.
I’m working on it too now. At first it seems so awkward lol. Plus my pup is never this chill as the dogs in these videos when he’s working with the heels. My BC thinks it’s time to jump and bite and shake the leash but I’m getting really good at that assertive voice and correction 💪🤞
Literally every client I have for reactivity does this ! I think it’s anxious expectation that the dog is going to kick off, because it’s become the normality!
i walk my mutt and full size aussie 1-2 miles if it is hot outside we go to lowes or bass pro cabelas etc. the mini aussie 20 weeks has no manners and he is in need of socialization in the worst way..and his shadow scares him but.. the vet said parvo is worth keeping him in the house till all shots are done. full size aussie does go herding so he is never full of energy mutt is lazy unless you say lets go.. she runs..lol
Tom is as good at people training as he is at dog training. Love the explanations, especially the sound effects. Another awesome video, please keep them coming.
Absolutely. I love how he says your command is never over UNTIL you release (Break) the dog in whatever you are telling the dog to do… “in order to release the dog into being a dog.” So true! And the music is the best I have ever heard on ANY UA-cam channel, EVER. Phenomenal and the BEST Dog Training channel I have seen, number 1 I go to since I got my wild GS rescue 5 months ago. He is now 10 months, and has turned a 180, calm around other dogs, children, a beautiful sweet GS! Thx to Tom’s leash walking (prong) training videos! Thx Tom, @upstatecanineacademy if you read this! Excellent post Conny!
Giant schnauzers are such fun dogs to work with! Total weirdos, but their smarts are so underrated! I used to work with one and I could teach him literally anything I could think of and I barely knew anything about training at that time, glad you were able to drive the message home to the owners Tom! That is the hardest part with novice owners and super intelligent breeds
I just looove how his whole butt starts wagging as soon as he gets clear directions and a job! That's what is so great about Tom's work- he makes both parties satisfied- owners as well as the dogs!
Always good to come back to the basics. I always get lazy with the place command with my dog. It’s a good refresh for me to see how to speak to my dog and relearn those commands. Thanks for another great video!
Giant Schnauzers are such cool dogs! I’ve watched every one of your videos and listened to all of your podcasts, they’re a great way to pass the time on road-trips. You’re one of my favorite trainers I look up to you a lot!
I really love these videos. They are so interesting and very simple to understand while accurately and to the point in terms of education. Keep up the great work
The training of the dogs is a simpler task than training the owners. Your ability to relate and communicate to both is fantastic and why I can’t get enough of your videos. Thank you! I appreciate you sharing all of your skills and knowledge!
I love how you got the attention of that dog Terriers are probably one of the most stubborn dogs and you did it so well they're too smart for their own good got to love them
I’ve got an Aussie and he’s a lot like how you described giant schnauzers. Extremely smart so constantly pushing boundaries and protective. Without doing daily training with him, I’m not sure I’d be able to keep up. Most of what we do was learned from you. It’s nice to be able to handle him better than I expected because of the preparation into learning before hand. I will forever continue to try and learn as much as I can from you.
Never realized how much mental work could calm your dog, until I started training walks with my boy. The difference in a short time is unreal. Great video 😊
I love giant schnauzers! We hike with one at least once a week and my sheperd gets along so well with him! I love how much they enjoy to learn and work! Dov in the video definitely seems more like a paper tiger lol. Not a true aggressive dog. Great job as always Tom!!
How do you know so much about effective parenting? lol I always love the parenting analogies. Tom is a great communicator to both humans and dogs. Gifted! Thanks for all you do.
Your techniques are awesome! I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to get two puppies in one year. Since I’ve started watching your videos and using your direction I have ZERO issues. Thank you!
I hope all has noticed, realizing how much respect, & love the pups look up towards Thomas!! That’s been top notch in my book, simply because, those pups want and respect direction, just like kids, they thrive on this, every pup is different, every child is different, for this all, positive direction, encouragement, without it, it will make any soul feel lost, confused, betrayed in different manners. Those pups literally look up to him saying, thank you!!
Watching your videos always gets me so excited to work with mine. My friends and even strangers are impressed with how well-behaved my dog is and i am constantly referencing you lol. Thank you!
This UA-cam channel has forever changed my relationship with my dog and improved her self-confidence and reactivity! Thank you for the amazing content!
I have 2 giant schnauzers. Doug is a gorgeous boy like our male giant. My female giant loves us more than anything and always works at 110% if she’s not working she becomes headstrong and mean. She isn’t afraid of anything and loves to throw her weight around and our male giant schnauzer is a lot like Doug, he needs constant reinforcement but calm and loves to have something to do. he’s rough and tumble. They don’t take direction or commands from anyone but us so it’s not easy to find someone who can watch them. They love to bully people who think they can “manhandle” them into submission, including scaring that person just for the fun of it. The learning curve on these dogs was unreal! But it was worth the work!!! They are kind, loving and smart. Love all of your videos! So happy to see a giant schnauzer on your channel 😍🥰🤩!
Tom, I really love how you demonstrate that training is an art. The tools and methods are so straighforward and so simple, but seeing how they are applied differently to every dog and situation is just magical to watch. Been a groomer for nearly 10 years and looking to get out, finding your channel is making me strongly concider transitioning into training.
Haven't finished watching this yet, but first thing I noticed was when the owner was handling the dog, the dog had his tail tucked firmly between his legs the whole time. When Tom started handling him, his tail came straight out and his whole demeanor changed - the dog started paying attention.
I noticed that to, but also he said they dont walk the dogs. So they miss out on alot of confidence building, trust and the bond one get of a structured walks. And I think both their dogs at home need the same rules. Have a feeling the yorkie might be a little possesive over things or people in the home towards the other dog. And or the bigger dog have to high energy and small dog thinks it's to much. And fights break out. Either way, owners need to put the foot down. Tom is a very good leader/guide who has a very clear language to dogs. Dogs feels his secure energy almost instantly when he take the leash.
You are awesome. I love to see you inaction. I’m a hands on learner. I’ve listened to all your podcasts as I walk my dogs. Then I realized as I watch you I can implement what you do. I love your love for the dogs and the way you explain the process. Thank you for all you do. Jeanne Raines
It’s so awesome to see other dogs with things to work on and I love the “no bad dogs” title it really helps remind us that the occasional bad behavior doesn’t mean it’s a bad dog, we just need to work on it.
Once again such an informative video. The difference that some basic training can do to the dog never fails to amaze me. Tom's communication skills always on point as usual.
We have an 8-month-old Giant Schnauzer puppy. Respect and consistency are definitely integral to handling him. He is so much like this dog it is hilarious.
Getting ready to start seriously training my Black GSD and you are certainly my guide! I did it with my other one and it solved her issues. I keep telling everyone to watch your channel!
Mater and. Work so well together especially being I rescued him at 18 months. I have always looked for a tip on getting more attention when he was ants to play with other dogs and this video gave me a new tool. Your a bloody Legend Buddy.
Excited to see you working with this type of breed. Great content as always! It really comes down to the relationship you have with your dog and being consistent. You and your crew are awesome!
I have a boxer lab mix he is always trying to push boundaries. Since trying your methods and prong collar he is much much better. Thank you so very much
Thank you for all you have done. I’ve followed you for a very long time. Your treatments have been very helpful for me with incorporating the ideas with my dog. Thank you.
Thanks for all you do to support dogs and their owners! I’ve learned so much. Love your analogies. I’ve been following you for a few years and so cool to see the growth of your business. Lucky us! 🐾
Dude had me so nervous and I’m a good thousand miles away! These owners desperately needed you, as they all do, but man…I was legitimately sad that he couldn’t do those basic commands 💔. I don’t know much about the breed but I am hoping they continue to work with him and you. I mean lately these videos have been given me all the feels ❤️ Now that I have a pup, I just have been learning so much and I just want so much more for all dogs. More than before I had my own. Oh and Tom. As a mom of 3 adults and raising my nephew…y’all need to have kids because I LOVE the kids/parent analogies because they are SPOT ON! 🎯 You understand parenting very well lol
Love your channel your really only one of two channels that have great content. Giant schnauzer are great breed if given the right direction. I wish I had a training club by me that thought I how thought. I used to belong to a great one but moved away miss that connection to have like minded people to train with. Your a special person to do what you do. Thank you
I love that you give reasons, and explanations throughout your video. It has really helped train my pup, after a only positive reinforcement training program that made my dogs behavior worst rather then help.
They started out seriously behind the eight ball with virtually no obedience training. It was astonishing how quickly he learned all the new commands. You could see an almost immediate change in the relationship between dog and owner. Great job on everybody's part!
Great video!! We have a Standard Schnauzer and they have very similar personalities. It was a ton of work her first year getting her trained but so worth it.
I learned leash training from these videos. Though we have a yard, we still go on walks. Not only because she loves it but if leash walking starts going out the window so does all other behaviors. As long as we are CONSISTENT and continue our walking I’ve been able to teach her so many things. I worked on my relationship with my Baby due to watching Dave and knew if there was any problems with behavior it’s probably something I’ve accidentally taught her or allowed to continue but it’s because of something I’ve done or not done but not her fault. No bad dogs!! I’d give anything to spend a week there working with him and his dogs. I want to help dogs here so they’re adoptable
All your videos are great, I love that dove and his owner are working through these commands and that it will be able to help with their situation. I love that you talked about not repeating commands, and having that intent when you give them a command. I own two working breeds and they both will pick up on if you ask them vs if you tell them.
You have great communication skills bro. I'm a dog trainer too and I wish I was as good with my clients as you are with yours. Thanks for the vids bro, great work.
Congrats JAMIE EVANS on winning the e collar, DM us on IG to claim @nobadogs

I think it’s anxious expectation that the dog is going to kick off, because it’s become the normality!
And then there's what I call the "Gucci Position". It's when the arm is bent as if carrying an expensive tiny handbag.
People don't realize how important walking a dog is. It create such a bond!!
i walk my mutt and full size aussie 1-2 miles if it is hot outside we go to lowes or bass pro cabelas etc. the mini aussie 20 weeks has no manners and he is in need of socialization in the worst way..and his shadow scares him but.. the vet said parvo is worth keeping him in the house till all shots are done. full size aussie does go herding so he is never full of energy mutt is lazy unless you say lets go.. she runs..lol
When there is clear communication, working with dog is just pure joy.

Yes! It's up to the owners at that point.

The visible difference though in his confidence at the end compared to the beginning. love it.
Thank you so much!!

I also loved that the dog gravitated towards Tom to stand next to from the first minute. Animals sense confident leadership 😎💪
I love Toms honesty when explaining to us as pet owners the things that we need to do in order for a successful relationship with our pets!

They are gorgeous and so smart, I met a lady with one and he was such a good boy.
Your candor is essential. Good on you!

What a gorgeous dog. And lovely to see owner and dog working to build that relationship and finally understand one another
So many of these issues are extinguished when you focus on relationship. Great video.
Thanks for the in depth bit of the 'place' command.
No bad dogs army!! So proud to be apart of it

Great video Tom. The not repeating command has really helped me enforce the heel command with my dog.
Keep up the good work Tom Davis! Changing lives 1 dog at a time!
Thank you so much!
So educational. It’s not about being an alpha but putting the dogs to work and be trained. Thank you!
Great work with the owners! I wish them luck in translating their work into home management!
Thanks so much for watching :)
It’s always so amazing to see what dogs are capable of with the right leadership. Another great video!
We have an 8-month-old Giant Schnauzer puppy. Respect and consistency are definitely integral to handling him. He is so much like this dog it is hilarious.
Dog likes the trainer more than the owner!
I have been getting better and better with keeping my dog trained and entertain and having a joyful and meaningful life thanks to toms videos!!!
love your training because it is so easy to duplicate in my own home.
Thanks so much!
‘We have a lots of land, so we never walk him…’ walking your dog is one of the easiest ways to get your dog to engage with you
This is actually great insight. I just got an Australian Sheppard and my wife and I are talking about how to start training.
Yikes! Great breed but need SO much exercise and a job to do. Best of luck - have fun!
Getting ready to start seriously training my Black GSD and you are certainly my guide! I did it with my other one and it solved her issues. I keep telling everyone to watch your channel!
Heck ya!
Thanks Tom! We have a 15 week old Giant Schnauzer. This video was great. Wife and I watched it to make sure we are on the same page as he grows!
Just found this channel today and this is the only thing I’ve been watching all day.
For those contemplating joint the NBDA, I highly suggest it for learning, training, support, and a safe place to vent.
Good work Tom. Do not stress yourself too much.
Love seeing more dogs & owners learning & doing better fur their dogs!!
Mater and. Work so well together especially being I rescued him at 18 months. I have always looked for a tip on getting more attention when he was ants to play with other dogs and this video gave me a new tool. Your a bloody Legend Buddy.
I love seeing working dogs go into to working mode. Watching him work was really cool!
Excited to see you working with this type of breed. Great content as always! It really comes down to the relationship you have with your dog and being consistent. You and your crew are awesome!
Thanks for watching! :)
love these dogs!! they’re very powerful and stubborn but a very beautiful breed
Always waiting video from this channel
The explanation was good and very clear
The best channel that i liked the most about dog training ❤️
‼️🎉 NBD Army🎉‼️ Thank you as always! Shared, Liked and Commenting ❤‼️
Excellent video. Clear instructions! Thank you!
Thanks for watching, peter!
Beautiful dog and training session!
I have a boxer lab mix he is always trying to push boundaries. Since trying your methods and prong collar he is much much better. Thank you so very much
Again another great lesson … thanks Tom
So great to see how much progress and how confident he becomes so quickly with just a little consistency!
Thanks for the awesome content Tom! Greetings from y
Totally what I needed today. Back to basics.
Thank you for all you have done. I’ve followed you for a very long time. Your treatments have been very helpful for me with incorporating the ideas with my dog. Thank you.
Great video. Glad to see you more in the new place. 🌸🌹💐🌺🇿🇦
This is a master class ... It's beautiful to see this unfold 👊
Two vids in three days! We’re blessed
Really well handled, like that you steared them away from the Yorkie things, and focused on them, handling the dog, before focusing on another issue!
Repeating commands had always been a difficulty for me. Love the videos!
I love how you explain the "why" behind the method.
Beautiful dog that just needs a bit of stucture!
You are such an awesome teacher, Tom!!
Your honesty the best trainer!!!!
Great use of pressure instead of correction during stubborn stops.
Thanks for all you do to support dogs and their owners! I’ve learned so much. Love your analogies. I’ve been following you for a few years and so cool to see the growth of your business. Lucky us! 🐾
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 with 🐕🐕🐕GSD. Would love to see group classes as well
Dude had me so nervous and I’m a good thousand miles away!
Another banger for Team Davis!!! Let’s go homie!!!!!!!
I love seeing how fast they pick everything up ❤
They started out seriously behind the eight ball with virtually no obedience training. It was astonishing how quickly he learned all the new commands. You could see an almost immediate change in the relationship between dog and owner. Great job on everybody's part!
great explaination of why basic training assists other issues that seem unrelated
Your training philosophy is really working on my wild child puppy. Thank you for repeating everything until we all get it.
Great video!! We have a Standard Schnauzer and they have very similar personalities. It was a ton of work her first year getting her trained but so worth it.
I love at 1:35 he said that the dog was insecure and the dog the before seemed to love the trainer walks straight back to his owner
my german schnauzers were always scary. walk them down the street and people would change the side of the street to advoid them.
You're Work Is Absolutely Awesome 👌🐾🐶🐾NBD Rules
Love the explanations of why you tell them to do what they do. Such a good people and dog trainer!
I learned leash training from these videos. Though we have a yard, we still go on walks. Not only because she loves it but if leash walking starts going out the window so does all other behaviors. As long as we are CONSISTENT and continue our walking I’ve been able to teach her so many things. I own two working breeds and they both will pick up on if you ask them vs if you tell them.
The training and details you out tom is incredible!
You have great communication skills bro. I'm a dog trainer too and I wish I was as good with my clients as you are with yours. Thanks for the vids bro, great work.
They are such gorgeous dogs. I hope the owners follow through with his training. A bit less touch might also help.
Great video! Love all the emphasis on the relationship.
