Thanks for these videos. I'm a captain on a CJ1+. This is my first Citation series jet and there's a lot of fun things about them. Can't imagine how you must feel flying the X... one day! I will say, I'm surprised that even the X uses the bleed air system on the windshield vs. having a heated windshield. Always seemed more clunky and cumbersome to me than just having an electrically heated windscreen. Alas, I'm not an engineer.

The X does indeed have electrically heated windshields. They are one of the "line up checks" you do when you are cleared for takeoff (pitot heats, windshield heats, recog lights, and landing lights - only the first two are required, the last two are "style preferences" on my part).
The CJ series are great airplanes! Congrats!

The X does have electrically heated windshields. In fact, they have to be on for flight (they are part of the "line up checks" when you are cleared for takeoff, and if you don't put them on you will get a red "NO TAKEOFF" CAS message). The bleed air over the windshield is seldom used and mostly for rain removal is what I've used it for.
You'll find lots of similarities as you move through the Citation line (I figure once engineers have figured something out they simply stick with it). So you'll recognize the "rotary test" for instance.
(Sorry for the slow reply - don't know why I'm just seeing this now)

@@jetboy1891 Great info! Thanks! On the CJ series we mainly use it for rain removal as you said. If the windshield *really* ices over we’ll use them in low but that rarely happens. The little bit of ice that does accrue will usually dissipate on its own relatively quickly. My flight department stresses the use of them as secondary rather than primary because of the danger of melting the windshield (don’t know if this has ever happened but boy they make a big deal out of it). Not to mention it kills the pressurization... especially in the upper levels. It’s almost an immediate 100fpm climb on the cabin. Wish we had electrical. Maybe one day I’ll fly something that does. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks. I'm working on putting a little library together of the things I was looking for when I started flying the X a few years ago

Hi jetboy, would you do a video on an ILS approach in the X?
    Thank you,
    Leila

That's a great idea Leila. I'll try to get a video of the next flight that involves an ILS (both the planning/programing and the execution). I just re-joined the plane. Hoping to fly tomorrow (or the next day). Thanks for the suggestion!
