- For the first game back after the All-Star break, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night. The 1st period was a quiet one with no goals or penalties taken by either team. Half way through the 2nd, the Penguins would get the first power play opportunity of the game. That chance quickly turned into a 4-on-4. The Avalanche took full advantage and gained the lead off a shot by Nathan MacKinnon. Later in the period, the Penguins received another penalty but killed it off and that would finish the period. The 3rd would start with a lot of back and forth play until the Penguins got their third penalty of the game. Once again, they successfully kill it off. With three minutes left in regulation, Bryan Rust helped direct a bouncing puck towards the net. After a few more quick bounces of Avalanche players, the puck crossed the goal line tying the game 1-1 and forced overtime. An early rush seemed promisingly close to crossing the goal line for the Penguins but it was determined no goal after video review. For the fourth time, the Penguins went on the penalty kill for the night and one last time killed off the penalty. Once back to even strength, the Penguins went on the attack. Kris Letang would be tonights hero hammering home the game winning goal in overtime and claiming those two point.

What a comeback!!!! This is what we needed all season!!!
I like you
so many OT games D:
Well done boys! Especially you Casey. You really stood on your head tonight.
Huge 2 points boys. You all played unreal.
Man I wish I could see a game in Pittsburgh sometime! A big dream of mine, good job on the win boys! love from Sweden :)
What a great win! Proud of how they battled tonight
Penalty kill was great tonight and DeSmith was on his game! Defense still needs work but the Pens didn't quit! If this team can play with even half of the intensity Zucker brings each game....they might just find a playoff spot. Keep fighting boys!! GO PENS GO!!
I'm just happy they got this win on my birthday!!!!!!
We need at least 2 victories on the upcoming road trip. Let's see how Casey will look there. THis one really looks like it was an exceptional performance, but , hey, maybe this is going to be the turning point when he gets that stable confidence. Geno line took over big time in clutch time, and so good to see the Big 3 capitalizing for the OT winner! Cheers, Pens!
Well they get the Anaheim (unl)ucks first on Friday which will be easy and then LA the very next day which will not be easy then San Jose next week which will be kind of mid.
Casey!!!! What a performance. Without him, we would not have any points. Both goalies performed greatly. Brilliant!
Man, if the Pens don't start playing some solid defense we can forget about a playoff run. Thank goodness for great goaltending.
The last 7 mins of the game was pretty instense. Another Overtime goal from kris letang! What a win! Let’s go Pens!!
Now keep the wins coming! LGP!!! 🖤💛 Great night for Tanger!
It’s a game like this that makes the Penguins synonymous with the word “relentless”
In a good way or a bad way..?
@@TheAvsFanatic do you consider winning good?
@@reaper2r winning is a win-lose case. You can win and make the sc playoffs, but it also hurts u draft picks in the process
One of the best games I've seen in a long time man Colorado is one great team Casey was rocking tonight without him we don't get this win
Without desmith ehh maybe but if it wasn't for desmith and jarry in net for the past month or however long its been we'd be in the 3rd seat right now and not hanging on to a wild card for dear life. 1 good game does not excuse all the other horrific games but we'll c if he can build something of this or if he's going to have more games like most of the ones he's had this season
Casey absolutely stood on his head
Bravo Pen's!!!!
Desmith finally out there looking like an NHL caliber goalie. Great seeing Tanger get the OT winner!
He looked better than his pay grade in this one. Remember, he's a back up and not a starter and this level of tending is as good as anyone. If only he showed up like that more, but that's why he's not the starter. I just hope he can either find his best consistently or the Penguins can find another goalie to help ease the burden on DeSmith until Jarry is back. I don't get why they've not gotten someone off waivers just to throw in and try during one of DeSmith and the team's many down times.
DeSmith Clutch insane WIN versus the CHAMPS great comeback in third periods boys
LET'S GO!!! 🐧🏒🥅🚨🚨
Well played, boys. Keep it up.
Good seeing ERod again.
Look at the fans and their reactions to the game winning shot. Priceless!!
LET'S GO BOYS!!!!
Definitely not Casey DeSwiss, tonight. Hope he stays as sharp the rest of the season.
Solid character win from the boys vs a really good team. Something to build off down the stretch. Let’s go pens.
Отличный результат! Спасибо команде! Пожалуйста, пожестче и повнимательнее в защите.
Letang straight up just said "hold my beer" this game
Desmith MVP
Amazing, De Smith actually resembled a goalie last night.
That was electrifying!! Playoff atmosphere..I'd be extremely disappointed if the Pens dont clinch a spot this year. Over 3 decades of loyalty. GO PENS GO 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
Awesome
Incredible game!!
There was no way that this could be a better game. Ot penalty kill goal with 3 minutes left in the third, Crosby extends his point streak😃😄😀
Yes...good job guy's
Desmith had enough
this recap "they're calling it a goal on the ice". *cuts to avs PP* huh? what?
It’s very obvious that DeSmith had plenty of spicy pork and broccoli before this game great win pens
Lets go pens, this is what we need
Let's see if they can win the next 8 games.
Prob not but they could if they can win against especially LA, San Jose, and Edmonton.
Nice😜 I'll take it
Jeffy wasn’t watching the puck on MacKinnon’s goal. What is he doing??
Sully putting him first line in overtime: see he can win face offs he needs to be in the lineup!
Regardless, great game!!
Carter has the best faceoff percentage on the team. He goes out to win the faceoff and heads to the bench for Guentzel once the Pens have possession. They've been doing it the last few games that went to OT. Avs tried to match the tactic tonight with Nate coming on after the faceoff.
This game should have been 7-6 again.
Pens were absolutely just dominated tonight and was NOT a pretty win at all but fortunately for the pens we did have 1 player show up who has pretty much not shown up in any of his games lately, desmith, that said we'll c if he can keep this going or goes back to coin flip casey
Can't the Pens win in Regulation anymore ?
Penguins had no business winning this game let alone getting a point to take it into overtime! penguins defense is really atrocious
