Glad I found your video today. I started a few Dear Jane blocks several years ago, and I wanted to hand piece so I tried paper piecing but sewed through the paper and fabric. Not fun! Your technique is brilliant, and now I want to get my project out again and use your method. Thank you so much for sharing and helping me along. By the way, I am 74 years old and have been quilting and sewing since I was a little girl. Goes to show there is always something new to learn!
You are so welcome!! I'm so glad you have that desire to try making the Dear Jane blocks, again. I do love the slower pace of hand piecing these blocks and I think I learn something new with nearly every block. This is a fun journey and made even more so with new friends found here. ☺️
Thanks for the video, Veronica. I remember when this technique first came out soooooo many years ago. It is quite instrumental when one is striving for precision in points. It helps when handling such small pieces too. ❤❤
So glad I found you, I have been wanting to get started on my dear jane quilt for a while now but was unsure how to tackle it. I’m 72 and I enjoy hand sewing, always have. I find it restful and when I saw you were hand stitching your blocks I was intrigued as to how you go about it with such small pieces. I like your method of folding the paper instead of sewing through it and it gets a very precise result which I like. I look forward to learning along the way and start cutting into the fabrics that Ive been collecting, so thanks for sharing your expertise, its much appreciated, greetings from South Australia 🐨❤️
