- Hello everyone! In today's video, I will be ranking the characters in Twisted Metal 1 within a tier list! I'm sure many of you will have opinions that differ from mine and I would love to read them in the comments below! Thank you so much for watching and have a great day!

I'm super glad to see that Twisted Metal still has people talking about it. A while ago I couldn't find a lot about Twisted Metal, like reviews or anything, at least for the classic games. I love these videos, but I always put Sweet Tooth in S tier just because it's a solid ride and is simply iconic.
Sweet Tooth is definitely iconic, and is usually my favorite character in the games! He's definitely my favorite video game character. Anways, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
I always loved the TM1/TM2 looks of the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck when it actually looked like an ice cream truck. The later games went a little too hard on changing him up and when he eventually began turning into a Decepticon robot as a special I was wondering what happened to the magenta-pink ice cream cone missiles of old.
Last year I managed to complete my collection of TM games and have all of them now .
@@clarencegutsy7309 Haha yeah, I was always the same way. TM3 was the first classic twisted metal game that I got and I thought the truck was gonna look like it did in one and two, was disappointed. I loved the boxy look.

I'm amazed Hammerhead is B Tier but Darkside is A. I feel I'd switch the two if only because of Darkside feeling more cumbersome. I'm glad Hammerhead actually feels as awesome as driving a monster truck would feel as opposed to how it is in TM2 where its entire existence is made redundant by Axel also naturally being able to roll on top of cars.
Am happy Roadkill is placed high though, that's my favorite
Yeah I had a tough time placing hammerhead and darkside. I came to my decision because I figured darkside can do very similar ramming damage and also has a special weapon on top of that to utilize. Though I definitely wouldn't be upset if someone decided to switch them around. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel, it means a ton!

Hammerhead is somewhat faster than dark side and his special is far better than dark side. The only edge dark side has over hammerhead is the extra armor.
Tm2 is the best just for ramming alone. Def my fav
Hammerhead is my number 1.
I would place Darkside and Crimson Fury in the C tier. Darkside's high armor and ramming isn't enough to compensate his slowness (has trouble escaping difficult situations, especially in the freeway level) and bad special. I think Hammerhead outperforms him by a bit. Crimson Fury is held back by his special, yeah it charges fast but it's hard to aim and does average damage. Specter is a better version of him where he trades a bit of handling for one of the best specials in the game. On the PC version Darkside's special can freeze and Crimson Fury's special shoots 2 beams instead of 1, raising them in the rankings.
OUTLAW is actually one of the best cars also ROADKILL should be higher he has excellent Armor and Speed only his steering is kinda shitty
back in 1997 i was 5 and i got this and a psone for Christmas i didnt know what video games were before this but it had an impact on me now 26 years later and im still a die hard fan this game will always be special to me

Same! Got mine in 96 at 6 years old. My bud had already showed me his ps1 and games after school daily so I really wanted it. My ps1 came with tm2, jumping flash 2, tomb raider and crash bandicoot 1. Man oh man good times. My first games played were on the atari thru my dad tho then I got my own Sega in like 94. Sonic ftw
I love these twisted metal tier list videos, brings back memories. Mr. Grimm was always my go to in any game simply because I love the character. I hope we see tier lists for the other games as well, great video.

Calypso's hamburger-meat face used to scare the crap out of me. My brother and I used to pretend we were Mike and Dave in Hammerhead 😎 but my personal favorite car was Yellowjacket and his was Darkside.
More Twisted goodness, dope! I This game has always felt like the opposite of Black In both tone and atmosphere, but also characters and gameplay. While I always lean toward the speedy characters in Black with it's bigger maps and improved control, TM1 was the exact opposite. With those old D-pad controllers, tight maps and touchy controls, Warthog, Sweet Tooth, anyone well armored and slow became my mains super fast. Thanks for making sure there's still good TM content being made!

Even as a kid I loved warthog. Comes kind of natural to pick a military vehicle in a combat situation too, so I'm sure everyone noticed how good he was.

Another thing that makes sweet tooth fun to use is power sliding while using turbo, sure it rolls the ice cream truck over and you take damage, but flipping ass over tea kettle around corners is always a good time. Doing the same thing as Darkside while ramming somebody has him do twister's special as he deletes whatever poor car is stuck to his front grill at that moment since it triggers his ram attack a couple times in a row.

Wish they'd put this and TM2 on the PS store so i could play on my PS5.

Spectre is my favorite character despite lack of armor and his phantom burst missiles can miss at times but overall he's my favorite character and fun to play with.
I recently purchased all the twisted metal games across ps1, ps2 and psp so your video has perfect timing. I remember liking Darkside and Grimm the most as well

I was just thinking about whether or not you made a tier list for this one. Glad you made one for this game! This version of Hammerhead was my favorite because the special actually felt powerful which was something I was felt was missing in the TM2 and TM3 versions considering it was a giant monster truck that had to get right on an opponent to make it work. I think I remember destroying Crimson Fury with Hammerhead in one second with the special/power missile combination! Cheers and hope to see more videos from you!

i remember first trying Roadkill and being amazed on how good the vehicle was. i thought its special weapon was another free fire missile reskin like YJ, pit viper or Mr Grimm (although his special is godly as well) and being pleasently surprised that it had homing capabilities. and not to mention that the vehicle itself handles pretty well.
Definitely the best all rounder & looks really cool to boot.
Roadkill is the best car I always get farther when I use him. Having high speed AND armor makes him an obvious choice and having a small vehicle means he gets shot less times

Always played this one with a friend. Roadkill was my main, mr grimm was his.
Twisted Metal finally resurfaces... But now it's some movie on peacock and when the music started, it was the furthest thing from Rob Zombie...
I really hope they didn't just ruin prospects of a game coming from this series ever again... I hope they don't mess it up beyond recognition.
I agree. I'm okay with them taking some liberties in order to try and reach a wider audience, but I still want to it to Twisted Metal at its heart

Still Crimson Fury is #1 for me.
I play Cyburbia as him daily.
Crimson has a lame Special but he can survive a collision better than Pit Viper who has a better Armor rating. Having the best speed is obviously a huge advantage
@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539 The special is good if played right and honestly the handling just exposes so bad how the rest drive. Even Spectre feels Janky.
CFs special is best used in tunnels or places like that where the enemy can barely move.
Im a MR. GRIMM main and Iam always amazed by how busted he was in the og, 2 and black! They nerfed him a bit too much in 3 and 4. In 2012, they nerfed him by making his weapon slower and you make you charge it but still does pretty good damage if you can maintain his chainsaw, it made him a lot harder to play but it’s a fair nerf compared to what he could do in the other TM because you could spam his special and insta kill someone. I guess it made him pretty balanced for online so that’s fair. Good video btw

Grimm seems to survive collisions better than Pit Viper and Specter which makes no sense since hes a Motorcycle

Its the same missle pattern from WARHAWK I dont like the homing missiles in TM they tend to get confused by multiple targets and hit nothing

I actually agree with this list, especially outlaw, he has solid stats, but that special recharge time is WAY too long. Pit viper is an easy D for me, that vehicle just sucks. And my only gripe with his list is Darkside not being a top 5, Darkside is slow, but unlike hammerhead, darkside feels way stronger, and basically has an always active special. Nah scratch that, both darkside and hammerhead can actually share the spot.
I love ❤️ this game sadly 😢I haven’t played it since I was I believe 10 or 11 back in 1995 a friend of mine bought it along with blood Oman legacy of kain both bad ass 😎😎😎😎 games it’s a hard choice between twisted metal 1 and 2 which is the better game I’d have to say in my opinion there both number 1 I’m my book classics and best of the whole twisted metal series 😊😊😊😊😊😊!!!!!

Need a tier list for 3, 4 and small brawl. V8 and 2nd offense
remembering playing through this game to read the various endings while Hammerhead and darkside were my first characters. Roadkill was a joy to beat the game with, Warthog just does almost everything better than roadkill. Crimson fury is fast, but his weapon sucks. one thing not mentioned here the first game has people that show up if you attempt to camp too hard. the light armor ppl get punished HARD by this. i feel crimson fury is just out classed by spectre or mr grimm with a consistant weapon or a more brutal weapon.

I dont agree with Crimson fury being placed higher than spectre because 1. Spectre has better armor and 2. Spectre's special is simply better, not only does it do more damage but it also homes onto enemies, ignoring the buildings and cover while doing so.

Its kinda sad to see that Pit Viper never appeared in another Twisted Metal, though it comes close to appear on the cancelled Twisted Metal Harbor City and Twisted Metal 2012.

Spectre should be higher imo. Warthog was my go to playing the game. Mr grimm can be great but you have to practice to get used to the controls.
I'd only disagree with Crimson Fury's placement outright. I don't think he's very good, Spectre seems like a much better car because of hit-and-running while Crimson Fury has to actually engage and put himself in harms way. This wouldn't be a problem if his special was as beastly as Mr. Grimm's but instead it's a thin skill shot that doesn't do enough damage to justify the risk of being a car that nearly every other vehicle can bully to death with ram damage. I just think he takes a lot more work to do well with... he's kind of like a defanged Mr. Grimm.
I'm also guessing you may get a lot of differing views on Darkside vs. Hammerhead here but I personally agree with your placements. I've always felt like Darkside's armor stat is somehow even higher than what the game tells you because he is the biggest bully in the game. The only other vehicles you actually need to worry about ramming head-on are Hammerhead, Warthog and Minion because everything else just gets annihilated. Unlike TM Black, ramming in TM1 is highly favorable because of the game speed and much more narrow level designs. I also think Hammerhead's special causing you to drive over the cars can be a bit of a drawback because of his poor handling while Darkside can just keep smashing them without having to readjust.
Crimson Fury is an inverted mirror image of Darkside. Their specials are the exact same and do the same damage but have to be used very differently based on what vehicle you're using. Darkside can use it to add some supplemental damage to his ramming assault while tanking any hits he takes while CF can only use it on the drive by. Also I'd argue that CF's handling is actually TOO tight and limits your ability to evade enemy attacks as CF has to use his normal turning at all times. Making him powerslide is a death sentence since he'll spin out in a 180 and be left a sitting duck before he gets going again, and with his armor being so weak you do not want to get caught standing still at all.
@@Anomaly188 Well one thing I used to do as Darkside is get a power missile and when turbo ramming into someone fire it along with the ram for a nice little wombo-combo. Usually dusts most of the smaller vehicles and does really considerate damage with any larger one, especially if you t-bone them.
It has been years since I last played but didn't CF's special also cause a sort of bounce-up effect for the car it hit? That could be considered somewhat more useful for the very minor effect it has, I recall Darkside's special feeling like it was the equivalent of like five machine gun shots lol.
@@clarencegutsy7309 I don't remember CF's special causing any kind of launching effect but I haven't played the game in a long time either. I do remember the game has trampoline trap items you can set like a mine that bounce cars into the air but never really understood how you could best make use of them. They didn't come back in the sequels.
Fast cars with no Armor need major Offensive power to be good and Crimson has a lame Special for sure. I like Grimm and Pit Viper you get a powerful large projectile thats easy to hit people with

Rough, sorry about that. I don't think pit viper is bad by any means. It just needs a bit more work to get the same results other characters get. Still really fun to play as!
Vipers my favorite car her Special is powerful (I dont know how you can argue its not) Pretty bad Armor and Control but still

I am surprised, that Darkside is not at the D or C tier.

But he has some crappy stats, Special is 1, Handling is 1, Speed is 1, but the armor is 5.

I’m always surprised to see Pit Viper in the bottom spot. She is really good at juggling vehicles with her special for amazing damage. I would put Darkside at the bottom. His special is actually useless! It’s pretty much just his horn. He can ram cars but he takes damage while doing it unlike Hammerhead. He also can’t get away from bad situations.
Pit Viper is my favorite but I admit her Armor is just weak prob. only Spectre is weaker there. Also Yellow Jacket gets no love hes a solid car but nothing really super-dope so
he tends to be mediocre which is his whole theme anyway

Spectre is way better than Crimson Fury, the specials are incomparable with Spectre's being the best in the game
It really bothers me how none of the ps1 twisted metals aren’t backward compatible on ps5.
It bothers me, too, and the fact they aren't available on PC either is wild. Twisted metal 2012 is the biggest offender in my opinion because you can ONLY play it on ps3. They took it off ps now and it is nearly impossible to emulate, meaning if you don't have the original hardware you're completely out of luck

Isn't Hammerhead basically known as one of the most overpowered vehicles in this game?
I'd say a lot of people would say so. In my experience, I didn't always have the cleanest games as hammerhead for whatever reasons and just felt there were better options to go with, hence the placement on the list. Though, I don't think hammerhead is bad by any means, still a beast!

I main Darkside in this entry,but just because i LOVE Mr. Ash...who is easily the most mysterious driver in the franchise.
Fun Fact: David Jaffe confirmed that Mr. Ash is none other than Satan during an interview,many years after this game's release i might add.
I think it's so interesting that darkside in the first game is literally satan😂
@@Fadiopeel It makes sense storywise,in the FMV endings that were cut we get to know why Calypso had powers...he joined forces with a demon called Black to betray hell and escape together.
Then in the second game,Minion's mission is to find Calypso and get his stolen powers back.
This possibly means that Calypso was aided by Black to steal Minion's power and escape hell together,so Satan entered the first contest to capture Black and punish him in hell while Minion gets an open path to get revenge on Calypso.
Too bad the developers scrapped the FMVs,the story seemed more fleshed out in those.

Love this! Pit Viper slides like a stripper. Perfect example that AI demostrates her as a great vehicle, but in reality she is garbage.
