This song reminds me of when I was a child, sitting in the back of my dad’s car as he drove and played this in the CD player. I remember looking out the window, it was a summer evening and the golden light was beginning to filter through the delicate light blue of the sky. So whenever I hear this song, I can always picture it in my head and get that magical nostalgic feeling.

The first line is very clearly written about John. He looks him right in the face while singing but John is driving. There's something about this song that just sticks with my soul. Since the first time I heard it it's been with me. This is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Same. I first heard it leaving my best friends house just before I was about to change schools and no longer be around him or my other buddies much. Those opening notes touched me in a way I can't describe and the melancholy of the song actually helped me bc I realized everyone deals with what I had at hand sooner or later.

my dad passed away when i was a baby, my best friend and her dad was best friends with my dad since they were kids. her dad lived out in the country and when my dad moved from california, he brought all this new music with him, including RHCP. for my birthday in the mail i got three discs. my best friends dad sent them and they had music that my dad and him listened to as kids. out of all of them i liked RHCP the most. scar tissue is my favorite song, it makes me think of him. i miss him and i don’t even remember him, but i know he was a great person and loved my mom so much. red hot chili peppers makes me feel like he’s with me, and like i knew him. thank you, red hot chili peppers.

I remember when this song came out on the radio. It was summer, and I was off of school and there was a public pool down the street that me and my brothers went to pretty much everyday. The lifeguard always had it set to the alternative rock station. This song would play at least once while we were there, and the radio DJ said "I have no idea what this song is about, but it sounds good!" It was just the perfect vibe to just chill. No homework or anything to worry about. Just walking over to the soda machine still dripping wet, bobbing your wrinkly toes to the beat.

They also remind me of MTV's early days when jackass and Viva La Bam were new. I remember when this song came out on the radio. It was summer, and I was off of school and there was a public pool down the street that me and my brothers went to pretty much everyday. The lifeguard always had it set to the alternative rock station. This song would play at least once while we were there, and the radio DJ said "I have no idea what this song is about, but it sounds good!" It was just the perfect vibe to just chill.
