To anyone boat shopping for boats in this price range..... Do yourself a huge favor and go buy a 10-year-old high-end boat that is infinitely more seaworthy and will last three times as long
About 10yrs ago I bought a mid 90s Action Craft flats boat with a 115 Yammy,,Poling platform and Trolling motor,,,Boat was awesome totally redone by a Retired Military guy ,,,,I paid $8700 for it !!! I sold it for more then I bought it for and wish I never Sold It !!! Not that long ago you could get a Solid boat for a Great Deal !!!
@@perfectfitboating We bought a 6 acre lot up in the Georgia Mountains so I sold the Action Craft and used the $ towards the lot ,,,Have since sold the lot made a little profit which is good 👍 But now I have No Lot and No Flats Boat 😂😂 But I do have a Gheenoe with a 9.9 Yammy so I'm not boatless ,,,,But the Gheenoe is really slow compared to the 115 Yammy AC !!!
I have that exact cubby/storage on my Bayliner as well. That yellowing is from the sun. When my F18 was sent back to the dealership for workmanship repair, that piece was bright white. When it came back to me, it was yellow. I assume it was sitting in the sun for months. At my house, it’s in my garage. But Bayliner did send me a brand new one no questions asked. I installed it myself, and caulked it correctly. That was three years ago. And it is still bright white. Because I stored in the garage. That boat you were on has been sitting outside for quite a while whatever they used to wash their boats down, probably does not help.
Ha ha. Those cheap 1980s black cupholders that trophy 18. That is my exact boat. The first weekend I had my boat, I removed them, and ordered stainless steel cupholders and mounted those. It looks a lot better. Same style cupholder, folding, etc. But now stainless steel.
🤣thanks Dave! Believe me there’s more of that coming. We’re about to pull the trigger on a 23 sea craft sceptre and we’re going to build a pilot house on it. I promise there will be plenty of itchy days ahead! lol🛥️🤙🌊
You can get a lot more in the used market especially with 50k-100k ,200k is where it really starts to get crazy. Also boats looked better in the early 2000s and 90s and 80s
@@perfectfitboating Actually thats my price range in the used market as I already have 2012 20 Carolina skiff JVX model. it hauls the kids to the sand bar and fishes great as well so I can complain.
Thanks for the comment Alex! Unfortunately we rarely see skeeters. They come to the Ft. Lauderdale show so if they’re there in October, I’ll do my best to take a look! 🤙🌊🛥️
Iam just one guy that goes to the coast 3 hrs away sparingly. Like never 2 times my alum jon express 1680 has served me well top off 6 gallon tank and go fishing but Iam getting older a better ride would be nice Mako c s Kenner I don’t need a flats boat. My jon drafts 6” w a 60 yam.
Missed the premiere! Dadgummit. After your last vid, you peaked my interest in the alk2 22 crs. Anything else to say about that brand? Comparing that to the key west 19:49 219fs or maybe the 203fs to save a lil cash. Buying a few years used as well.
Hey William thanks for commenting! I gotta be honest. The more I think about it the more I like that little 18’ alk2. The frontier is a better overall finish but for what I’D use it for, I think it’s perfect. A small boat like that can be hooked up and towed real quick and you don’t break the bank on an outing. It’s rugged and laid out with the space for two or three guys to spearfish and most importantly the deadrise is AGGRESSIVE which will let it eat up some chop! I wish I could ride in one to give you some first hand experience! But, that’s just me. I don’t need a refined boat like the Yamaha. If I was to buy a second boat right now and in this range for what id do, it’d be the alk2 18.🤙🌊🛥️
@@perfectfitboating yea, the alk2 22 crs is about the size we would like to get into. Very heavy into fishing and want to have capability to do a little offshore on calmer days. The alk2, from what you have shown, seem very purposeful and well built. Perfect pricing for us as well. Might need to hop on it before they get popular and prices go up. Really got me questioning the other boats ive been looking at. I dont think you pointed out one issue with the couple you have reviewed thus far
@williamlutsch4259 honestly I didn’t find anything glaringly wrong with them. Just preferences for things like tension hinges and better hardware in general. No frills but that also means less things to go wrong! I’d definitely recommend a ride in one. If you do, please report back! 🤣
I’m not too familiar with those boats as I am with saltwater fiberglass boats. I’ve always heard those boats are heavily sought after. I just don’t know if the quality is the same as they used to be. If I had to take a guess, they probably aren’t. 🌊🤙🛥️
Just a heads up if you did not do the premiere and just post the video I feel you would get more views. When the pre video announcement comes on a feed it does not move up once it goes live. People have to scroll back down the list of subs that have posted videos after your preview video once it goes live. Depending on how many people someone subscribes to your video could be way down and never get seen.
@@matthewtrapp7756 thanks for that. I’ve played with the premier here and there. I’m going to try not premiering the next one and see what happens. You may be right.
If the wood isn't for structural integrity , who cares. It's just separating the side of the hull from the storage space. Shouldn't be much water through there anyway. Only on the bottom where it's funneled to the bilge.
The person buying the boat who has to change out the wood in a year cares. The bilge is the highest area for moisture. Not just flow. Moisture gets in to wood. Wood rots. Buyer shouldn’t have to worry about rotted wood.
The prices are crazy. I bought a brand new 2019 Yamaha SX195 (the supercharged one) for $30K now it's like $45k 5 years later. 50% increase in 5 years... in 1987 a 20' cuddy cabin set us back $10k. in 1992 a 28' twin engine cruiser was $68k. All recreational toys are getting out of hand. When the boomers are gone, I doubt there are enough gen Xers to keep these companies alive. Forget about later generations. They can't even afford cars and houses. It's sad. I grew up on boats and with powersports. I just heard that Arctic Cat snowmobiles are no more. Also, recently thought of getting into a UTV, but it priced out over $50k. My advice if someone wants a boat is to buy a good name brand used model from the 90s or early 2000s and fix it up.
