I have a 10' x 16' shed that I converted into a shop. I insulated sheathed it and had it professionally wired( for insurance reasons) and I left the floor bare of plywood which is fine and I much rather have wood than concrete. This was a gift to myself when I retired and I gotta say, within 6 months I was wishing I'd gotten the 14' x 20' building. It's been 10 years now and I'm ready to add another 8ft off the back so it's not so cramped. This is the first time I've seen a shop your in the same dimensions as my shop and it has been very helpful. So thank you for the tour. I picked up some good ideas to use until the addition goes up. I plan on doing it myself without a permit. I live in a CT shoreline town that requires permits just for a garbage can screen wall! If they make me take it down so be it. It will be the first real construction I will be doing on my own. I've done construction with my brother, but this is a challenge I want to complete myself. Though I may need help raising the wall, lol. Thank you again! ~Dolly
Great shop tour, super smart grandpa signing his work. . . I do the same thing because down the road it may make someone smile as it did for you. . .I subscribed +++++
It's nice to see a small shop. Most of us dont have unlimited funds for a massive shop and dust collection system. But i am so glad i got super dust deputy and wyne filter for my cheap harbor freight dust collector. The dust bag was such a pain to empty. And really makes the dust collector, a dust spreader.
Masking tape! LOL My Grizzly bandsaw fence will not stay either. I put a layer or two of making tape on the front side of the fence. It doesn't interfere with moving the fence, but gives it enough friction to stay put. ;)
Hi Hector, thanks for stopping by! I have thought of putting my router there. Currently, my trash can sits under the empty wing, which is a convenient and centrally located space for it. Things may change once I get my outfeed/assembly table built. We'll see...
Just subscribed. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more content from you. Definitely inspiring for my future projects and small shop setup.
Great utilization of the crawl space. Lumber storage eats up a lot of space in a shop so that's perfect. Just don't throw your back out with those big slabs in a hunched over position😉. For the anal retentives watching this, I love how perfectly aligned all of the screws are in the shop. Especially the furnace room walls!. Looks great!!
if you haven't done the outfeed table fix yet- michael alm has a good outfeed table that is only like 18" which seems to work awesome. even if you don't do it that way because of saw type (he attaches it to the saw with no legs), maybe a shorter length wouldn't mess up the flip up table brackets as fast as the longer one you have?
@@BrettsWoodshop thanks! love seeing other folks with small shops and what they are doing to make things work well for them. appreciate you sharing it!
What is the name of that lovely black dimpeled product you put beteen the floor and subfloor? BMMBI List (Brett Made Me Build It) 1) Rebuild walls in basement w/ 2x6 and stagger the studs. 2) Lay black dimple stuff and subfloor 3) Add insulation and cover ceiling ... I'll need a new truck... and a trailer.... ...where are all of those credit card offers I've been saving... ...I can sell the kids electronics - they can play outside -... ...if the wife complains, blame Brett. Fool proof plan... what could go wrong? :D
🤣😂😇 I love it! .. Generically it’s called Dimple Board. It’s a dimpled waterproofing membrane made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic. There are a few different brands. Don’t remember where I bought it. Probably Menards.
@@BrettsWoodshop awesome! Thanks for making this video. Very helpful in many ways. I need to do something similar for my basement shop.... I think the first solution is making a box for my shop vac...
Nope. No air exchange at all. I’d like to bring in a mini split at some point because it gets hot in there, especially in the winter. Thanks for stopping by!
Great job with your use of space. I would be happy to send you a sticker. How to I find your address? I also subscribed. I am also a smaller channel and love supporting others. Thank you.
I hate to be negative but have to mention this. I found it quite annoying watching your image clicking all the time. I’m assuming it’s from editing. Simply not smooth and seamless. Otherwise it was nice seeing what you’ve done in a small space.
I'm constantly working on improving my video editing skills, just like I am my woodworking skills. Editing is a steep learning curve! Thanks for hanging in there and watching anyway!
"That's a joke. That's not where they are." hahahahahahah
He definitely had great timing for this joke. 😂
Jay, I’m sure you already understand how you might feel about your daughter’s future boyfriends.
You do not need to make a insulated box around the shopvac , just build a muffler on the exhaust of the vac. 😁😁👌👌
But then I’d lose that horizontal surface to collect random crap… 😛😆
Thanks for the tip!

Great tour and content !

Ans the door squeak as it's closed. Hahaha!
Cool shop
Thanks Bruh!

I’m counting on the new workbench to control the dust cloud 🙃

I went ahead and got the Kreg fence. That video will be coming out in the near future.
Gives me hope, nice shop and video

I like the flip up planer storage. Nice video.
Thanks!

Great shop, I have subcribed and have you thought of putting your router in the table saw wing that I see is empty?

Great job on the video, Brett. I especially like your camera set up.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'll be building out my own basement shop with nearly the same layout
Cool! I hope your ceiling is higher than mine 😁
@@BrettsWoodshop '60s basement with acoustic isolation to add. I'll have low 8ft ceilings if I'm lucky.

Good looking shop! Do you have HVAC specifically for your shop since the furnace isn't piped into that space?
