I would imagine the basis of woodworking isn’t necessarily to build beautiful handmade furniture but to build useful things to make your life easier. There is an inherent beauty in functionality.
MUY buena calidad, el texto imagenes. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO Un manuel muy completo y trabajado. Resulta muy práctico. Para principiantes y profesionales. Lo recomiendo
Getting prepared to build two book shelves for upstairs den, and the method of cutting the dados then splitting in half is priceless. Thank you Jason for the new knowledge
I’m not a woodworker, but my husband dabbles in it here and there. I enjoy watching your videos, though. Your personality is great and I even watched your sponsor’s ad (when I normally skip them). Thank you for sharing this organizer. It’s a thing of beauty. Keep up the good work and videos!
Years ago I was on a doctor supervised diet in which we had weekly injections of vitamin B12 and what turned out to be the generic equivalent of Prozac. I became so focused, so drug-induced OCD, that I spent a couple of days separating and organizing 20 years worth of nuts, bolts, and screws in our maintenance shop. Well done. Darlington, South Carolina
Nice project. My charging "area" has 8 different chargers. I was able to buy a power strip that has 8 outlets and a lighted switch for each. That way chargers that aren't in use don't need to be powered on. The strip was designed for 19" rack mounted electronic equipment so I mounted mine at the front edge of my box, above the chargers. The switches are on the front and the outlets are on the back. Easy to turn off and on, and cords can be managed quite neatly.
Could you list a link for that power strip, looking for one just like that. Can't afford all the Festool power tools, have several different brands of batteries to charge, Thanks John
I've been watching your videos for a while now. Never comment, nor read them but if I had to say something it'd be "timelessness". Language is era specific, your language conveys all needed sentiment without welding your videos to an era. Brilliant and TIMELESS!
I love your craftsmanship but laying on the couch with my broken leg, ski accident, your comments are priceless, please keep it up, greetings from Holland
Building control cabinets with DIN rails, terminal blocks, PLC controllers, is an amazing time. I get to work on the electrical systems of some pretty cool super yachts on occasion. My wife calls terminal blocks spicy legos.
Looks GREAT ! Just for kicks try flipping the drills upside down see if you like it better. I did and all mine hang *straighter*. For my ocd . Nice job !
We Be on the same plane. Well - maybe not on the same plane but are on the same mind set. Organization of all the small stuff is worth all the time to get all the drawers and cubbies all in place and label everything. BAM - no more time wasted trying to find stuff. I went with a smattering of Milwaukee Packout for the batteries, drills and chargers and for the small parts I got lucky and for Zero dollars got a hold of two industrial draw units. Also some tech drawers for larger items. And all that is on my small wall. Fantastic !
Boy was this video timely. I just happening to be organizing my garage/workshop. Everything’s put way with the exception of my large selection nails and screws. Instead of a drill station I’m going to make space for my various sizes of gun nails. Look out world this fills the bill perfectly.
Excellent and inspirational work. One simple thing I think you should do is put a surge protector behind the chargers and then plug them all into that strip. Protect your tool investment from a freak lightning strike or electrical surge to your shop's power grid. Sooner or later, it will happen.
I don't like anything permanently on and screwed into place - DANGER WIL ROBINSON ... the back two thirds of the shelf above the chargers should be a hinged flap.
Those chargers should be plugged into a high capacity surge protector AND it should be switched off when not in use as those things are power hogs even when off and there’s always the danger of fire. It happens.
My dad actually did make parts for the International Space Station, they said if the parts ever failed, they would send him up instead of bringing the parts down. That was a long time ago!! Love the videos and keep up the silliness! (from another local of your town)
Nice addition to your shop. I’m always working on my organization shop and yes it would be embarrassing to me, but it’s not because I don’t let anyone else in my shop . . . at this time anyway. I’ve been working on a shop re organization and while doing so it gets worse 😳. Thanks for another great video.
That bronze boat thing on the wall, we had one of those in our house back in the 80s. Exact same one. My dad actually used it to sketch out a ship for one my sister's projects. He was drawing either the Nina, Pinta or Santa Maria.
Love this. As a guy who does do electrical, I'd have replaced the 2-gang with a 4-gang outlet. Removing the original 2-gang box, with the multi-tool, is pretty straightforward (make sure the power's off), and replace that box with a 4-gang "old work" box, and put in 2 2-gang 15A outlets. I just don't like those splitters. Another option: put a plug strip, a better option that that splitter in my mind, back behind the false front.
I love the storage. Ready to redo my “shop”. I have storage bins too. See through or not, I hot glued a sample fastener to the outside to show the contents. I hate reading !!
The hangers are for under the box. If the drills stored inside the box, they can simply sit on a shelf without the hanger. What a great idea for the screws! I have a similar situation with that.
Honestly, you should do voice-overs and the like. You have a calm, reassuring manner as you talk but with the right amount of humor, too. Okay, I'm off topic. Thanks for sharing your video; that shelf project looks way cool and I hope I can build something like it in my shop.
I would add 2 things - dividers for the sandpaper so you don't have to lift the entire stack to get stuff, and a kill switch for the chargers as I've seen them overheat and catch fire.
Really nice ! Attention to details and great planning pays off big time here. I would personally use Kreg pocket screws where he uses dado's, just because there familiar, and i do not own or master dado blades.
You make everything as if you are making quality furniture. You rock dude! Hey, how's the boat? getting any fishing with your son? One of the great memories of my life is that quiet time with my pop. Rock on brother!
It's as if you've been watching me do exactly the same thing I just finished last week organizing chargers, fasteners and such on it's own French cleat shelf. But yours looks much better with all your dado channeled shelves. Good on ya, keep those creative juices flowing, a litany of good ideas coming out of your shop! 🤘
I never start a new project until i check to see if any of your videos cover it, Cheers now for a nice Whiskey on the Rocks and to watch your latest Video keep them coming I have plenty of Whiskey and Ice
Nice, about to build myself my first shed/workshop type thing (only 10 x 8 but it's a start lol). My first ever erm shed type workshop type space (I'm 50 so it's kind of a big deal) just recovering from a long term illness and getting some ability back. I will be making something along these lines for my newly acquired stuff, I may or may not be a bit OCD myself lol. Great build Sir, my space gets started in the next week or so (fingers crossed) Be safe Brother, best wishes from Cornwall, England :)
Looks good, but I think I will use the sand paper storage for a row of charged and uncharged batteries and slide it over next to the drill drivers. Then have a separate sanding cubby along the same lines. It is great seeing other people's solutions to solidify the ideas you have, as we each have unique requirements. Thanks for the inspiration.
Jason - nice job. And, glad to see that someone else has organization ocd. On the other hand, I can pick up a stud finder and it doesn't go off. Oh well.
love it! I built something kinda similar but with much more crude workmanship a couple of years ago and I get a lot of compliments on it. It really helped organize my shop wall. I love the way you did the cherry and flush trimmed it.
Hey, I like Cherry! LOL. I watch lots of woodworking videos. Yours are the only ones I watch because they're entertaining rather than just educational!

Very nice. A few suggestions. First, Add a power strip / surge protector behind the chargers. Second, add dividers for the various boxes of sandpaper so you don't have to pull the whole stack of boxes every time you want to pull a box out. Otherwise, its a fantastic project. Great Job....
Agreed on the idea of adding a power strip / surge protector behind the chargers. To add onto that idea, you can add an outlet on the right side of the box so you don't loose an entire outlet for the charging station. You can never have enough outlets in your shop.
2 comments one video... not a creeper... I just wanted you (and everyone) to know how much your Audio quality is appreciated. I can turn on your videos and work on something else and listen to quality content talking about something I'm learning about (and planning my shop) without hating the audio. Bad audio means a lot of content gets missed. Your great audio quality means your content gets heard by more. Just letting you know it's appreciated and hopefully worth the effort.
Maybe could have added an On/off switch to the side for the outlet… Just so the chargers aren’t ON the whole time… just switch it on a while before you know you’ll need the drills/drivers.
You’re spot on the money about turning chargers off. Excellent point. I just use a “smart plug in” and a short lead fused at 5A the plug. (UK plugs have fuses in them) I can turn it on and off with my phone (or Alexa) and also set it to a schedule.👍
I'm about to build one similar and here's one suggestion and a question. Have you got a link to your magnetic bit holder? Under the bit holder I'm building some small cubby holes to store fully charged batteries.
awesome. I will definitely use this when I have a workshop space. I am doing my first ever bit of woodworking. i move4d in with my better half, and we have a SMALL apartment. since we both do gaming, we have to desks in the bedroom which take up a lot of the room. so, I am making a one big gaming desk to exploit what little space we have :) and I am excited and nervous at the same time

Right off the bat, even before watching the video, I'm drooling over how neat that turned out. I wish I could convince my dad to buy actually good tools so we could build stuff like that.
I would imagine the basis of woodworking isn’t necessarily to build beautiful handmade furniture but to build useful things to make your life easier. There is an inherent beauty in functionality.
Yet for shop furniture this project is functional AND beautiful. Love the work and your video production and voice over/dad humor are top notch!

Cutting those dados first is a solid tip. I’m going to remember that for building book shelves.

I think it looks great and the trim is a nice contrast

Dado's are for weak people. (Also I don't have any dado blades)
plethora of good ideas...
Organizing my organization system relies on initial organization skills which requires organization.
Your voice over makes you one of my favorite woodworkers to watch. Your ideas are helpful too!
I just turned all my drills around in their under-shelf holders. You sir, are a freaking genius.
When you said your shops a mess, I took that personally. I really felt it. And words hurt 🤕
Damn, that tip for lining up dados is simple but so useful. I don't know why I've never thought to do that.
Friggin love the final touches……labeling and the Bulleit Stitzel-Weller sign 🥃
I never start a new project until i check to see if any of your videos cover it, Cheers
now for a nice Whiskey on the Rocks and to watch your latest Video keep them coming I have plenty of Whiskey and Ice

Thanks for pointing out the many uses of a stud finder 🙋♀️
The is one cool station. The battery charger holder kicks a$$!!!! Thanks for the ideas and sharing!! You rock!!

love it! I built something kinda similar but with much more crude workmanship a couple of years ago and I get a lot of compliments on it. It really helped organize my shop wall. I love the way you did the cherry and flush trimmed it.
Nice setup have to make one myself to organize all my crap. I love teasing my wife about the stud finder.😂
You got me! I was ready for “and of course it all fit together perfectly” classic

Watching the faster drawers slide in was so satisfying!
Out facing drills and impact drivers... why is that so rare?!
Great job
This video came just in time. Thanks Jason!

absolutely beautiful, really makes my undiagnosed disorder happy.
Cutting the dados that way is genius. Great hack.
Maybe could have added an On/off switch to the side for the outlet… Just so the chargers aren’t ON the whole time… just switch it on a while before you know you’ll need the drills/drivers.
I have wondered about putting my chargers on a timer expecially since I don't use them every day
I heard charges getting hot enough to start fires. I alway disconnect my chargers after battery is fully charged
Most newer chargers stop charging once it's full.
You’re spot on the money about turning chargers off. Excellent point.

I'm about to build one similar and here's one suggestion and a question.
Have you got a link to your magnetic bit holder?
Under the bit holder I'm building some small cubby holes to store fully charged batteries.
Resistente, práctico, seguro y fácil de hacer... e lo copio, gracias y saludos desde México.
Lol, that stud finder joke never gets old!
awesome. I will definitely use this when I have a workshop space. Great timing I'm getting ready to completely redo my shop. I may have to make something like. Unfortunately I only have about 120sqft shop
love the creativity and comedy - thank you for posting this
You are so cool. Haven't caught you in a while. Good to be back.
Great job man, love the organization and the cherry scribe looks nice!
Your silly antics crack me up!
Well done, I just found your channel and like what I see so far. You have the skills and techniques down solid, and the humor is typical of things I might say. You did everything as I would've done.
Great smaller project there, Jason. TTFN.
Instead of measuring the back of the chargers when trying to mount them, take a piece of paper and lay it over the back of the charger. Take a pencil and start shading, just like how we used to put a quarter under paper and copied it by rubbing a pencil over it. Now you have a perfect template. For an anal retentive person like myself, watching this video was like therapy. My father-in-law passed away a few months ago and he had a lot of tools stuffed into two sheds. My wife said to go through and pick what I wanted (my brother-in-law said he had no use for tools!!!). I found a weather beaten 4 ft level that belonged to my father-in-law's dad that I just refinished. What was the color of driftwood is actually made from redwood and brass. Long story short I will need an organizer to store what tools I can rescue, and this is an awesome step-by-step instruction. There will be a steep learning curve for me, but you have to start somewhere. Thanks...and subscribed, if anything just for the therapeutic effect :)
Great results, but my OCD is kicking in and hoping you go back and edge band the drill driver holder to match the rest. Thanks for another fun video!
Why is this so satisfying?
Next one needs a power strip behind the charchers and awesome trip on the dado's thx
Right on time!!! ♡
Thank you!!!
TTFN is Tigger talk! Thanks!
Pretty awesome and inspiring Jason! My She Shed needs this sooooo bad! Thanks 😊😉😁
This spoke to my inner OCD as well. 😍 Great job, Jason!
Sweet video! I’m going to be applying the dado joinery you used to some drawers I’m making. I just want to warn you that having your power tool battery chargers that close together will make them very likely to overheat while you’re charging your batteries & heat kills lithium ion batteries. & I’m not sure how much a Festool battery is but I can guarantee it’s damn expensive. If I were you I would have like a fan or an evaporative air cooler pointing at your chargers whenever you’re using them.
Nice organization job.
Love that organizer. I need something like that. 👍
Great project.
Yes!!!! More of this!
Organization projects honestly are the most rewarding. I need to desperately do this in my garage.
Maybe you could save some money by using 1/2” ply for some elements like the horizontal dividers? Super cool project and I have the fastener hell, too.
Dang dude I wish I could measure and cut things with such precision.
Thanks for posting this. Awesome build
That is nice. Thank you for the ideas.
A woodworkers wet 💭! Awesome job!!
Dude, this is awesome. Get yourself a label maker man!!!!
You legend. Most soothing videos on youtube
this built is oh so nice.
Looks amazing! And you're right, my shop is absolutely a mess. And it's so bad I don't even know where to start. Miter saw station? Outfeed table? Router table? Cabinets? Clamp storage? Hardware storage? Where to begin?!?
Do a random draw for where to start and stick to it, and just repeat the process once the first project is completed?
Clamp storage. Everything else is easier when you don't have to go hunting for clamps.
I recommend a global pandemic that keeps you in your basement for a couple of years. It worked for me...
so glad you had a cabinet full of stuff like me!! i feel validated LOL
Using a razor or box cutter you should be able to cut out a peep window in your cardboard boxes with sand paper. Not for sand paper, but I use this trick for a number of things so I can see at a glance how full it is
