Thanks for picking up the bait and dropping the link Remy! My friend Caleb at Shoreline Anglers showed me your video cuz he was like “hey I know that bait!” 🤟🏼🙏🏼
I used to live and work close to your spots. Haven't seen the area for nearly 20 years. Back then the Smallmouth were coming back, and a few Walleye were showing up. Musky populations weren't a big thing yet. Thanks for the visit! The Fox is the only thing I miss from my old neighborhood.
I have caught quite a few Pigs. “ Big Flathead Catfish “ at the 2nd Dam you were fishing on the Eastside. It’s very deep there right up at the Face of that Dam.
I had a musky break off on that wall but it swam up in a shallow corner and i was able to climb down and hand land it. Only about 33, its very hard to get them around that sign with the back current. Ive gotten six or seven off the dam, definitely better when it floods. Lost a 45 plus on the other side after a big flood, but the fish always move down after a few months and need another flood to push new ones down.
My only recommendation would be a bigger bait this time of year. Maybe like a 10" Poseidon or a Swimming Dawg. They are trying to pack on the pounds before ice up so they might not waste the energy chasing a smaller bait.
Got a 32” pike from under the road bridge in Batavia in October ! I had my lure dangling in the current while I was on my phone! Almost stole my rod! 😂
Algonquin dam has a deep pool and a creek that comes in rt by it.. somebody caught a 54-in tiger muskie there a few years back it does get some pressure from people fishing but if you work the deep pool back to the creek he will have luck. Make sure you have your fishing license DNR sometimes pops in
Ive been fishing the Fox for years in all the spots mentioned on this thread. Ive had great sucess for smallmouth and catfish, carp etc .. I haven't caught a lot of Muskies what months are best?
Don't give up, yesterday was. First day bringing home fish in over a month nailed 12 bluegill perch over on little lake butte des morts in Wisconsin, force yourself outside endure the cold develop more patience you got this
@remyvillarreal I saw your smaller musky flopping around in the rocks in Geneva, a bigger one would be much harder to handle, trust me. Best thing for the fish is to keep it in the water, and in the net as long as possible. I mainly wade for smallies, but when I'm hunting musky I always try to bring a net.
Best time of the year to musky fish the fox. I'm obviously not gonna give my spots up but if u can find deep holes in slower moving current they will hold muskies. And the best spots this time of year are creek mouths that flow into the fox. Some are better than others. Ur gonna have to put in some time to find the better ones
A Muskie is called the fish of a 10,000 cast for a reason! Also throwing a lure downstream will only spook a fish! Because they're facing into the current! Looking for bait moving downstream! Never a bad time being on the water fishing! Bites or no Bites!
i live in geneva and I honestly think you would have better luck with a shad colored swim bait instead of perch. i dont think ive ever seen perch in that area of the river but see shad jumping all the time
