I just test rode the 2022 Rift Zone 3 27.5 in Med and Large, I am 5’10” and felt at home on the Large. It felt really agile, snappy and ready to shred. I am looking forward to seeing more on the XR Model as I will likely be buying one later this year. Thanks to Marin for making Legit bikes that are accessible price wise.
Just got the Rift Zone 2 2022 last week and I feel that is fun, fast and able to go up and down quite nicely, this changes to the 2023 sounds right on point to keep improving the line up 🔥🙏🏻
Thanks John Oldale for all your passion and support to all Marin Family worldwide ! And of course Matt Cipes for bringing these killer models into the 2023 Lineup !
The spec updates make this bike an incredible value to what was already a really good value bike. Specifically to the RZ2, you now get better suspension front and rear, longer dropper, and better grips. Not to mention the shorter cranks which make sense and all the other geo stuff mentioned here.
Even though I never ridden full suspension bike, always hardtail the San Quentin 2 for example never had issues with the bike, and the Rift Zone is a maybe not XR. The rift zone 2 I would love to try out as truly my first dream full suspension bike consider in the near future.
Looking for bicycles to be the first with double suspension, meeting Marin, and seeing the good opinions he has, it is something very interesting, greetings from Colombia
Been riding my RZ3 for a little over a year now in northern Italy - the changes for the 2023 model sound excellent. Here in Italy (at least the part where I live) every trail has a nice chunky, rocky section somewhere, so I switched to 150 mil travel on the front (just changed the air tube). It seemed to change things just enough to make it a lot more stable in chunky corners - all this is to say that it sounds like the 2023 version got it just right!
Now that's a rad bike! You guys are seriously crushing it lately. This bike would pair well with my Alpine Trail! Time to convince the wife for another bike haha
Looking at a 2023 Rift Zone 2 or and 2022 Rift zone 3 for a little less money. What would be a better choice? I started riding on the Nail Trail then moved to an East Peak. I’m looking at coming back to Marin bikes as I had great experiences in the past.
Depends on your priorities - the '23 Rifty 2 has a touch more travel (140/130 vs 130/125) and a more progressive geometry, while the components on the '22 Rifty 3 are a step up.
Hi Danny - if you are referring to the upper rocker links, they are not compatible with the previous versions of the bikes. This is because the '23s have more travel and slightly different kinematics.
I modified a 2018 RZ3 to the 2.1 DA charger and 130mm and it is a really fun , snappy bike. I’m playing around with a Meg neg now on a ultimate Deluxe.
Consideration for the youth by allowing the 26" upgrade is just one reason I love this company. Definitely putting a Marin in my stable, the Team 2 maybe
I’m torn between getting this bike and the San Quentin 2…… both bikes seem pretty rad! Thank you Marin for making 27.5” bikes as I’ve been riding a 29er for the last year and can’t wait to get back on a 27.5 🤙
One question regarding the 2021 27.5 RZ2: did Marin upgrade the aluminum brace on rear triangle, as the 2018-2019 models seem to crack right at that arch-brace, behind the front chainring...
I have the alpine XR and I love it, but for my daily basis the Rift with less travel and steeper is the ideal, is there a program to change bikes? i am a fan from Chile :)
I'm going back and forth atm between a 2022 rifty 2 or a 2023. I've not ridden in 30 years and dont expect to be doing anything too extreme. I can get the 2022 out the door for $1700 or the 2023 for $2400. I also hate the white color of the 23' R2. If another color was available like the previous years, i might spring for it.
Sadly the '22 R2 was sold out in the XL. I was torn between the XR or the Rifty 2. I went with the XR even though I have to wait a month. I spoke with many at my LBS and after watching many vids it was clear the Marin was hard to beat for value. I liked the idea of not really needing to upgrade anything, including the tires and having a bike that I likely will not outgrow. Plus this years color scheme for the other versions were pretty weak to bad IMO. The XR colors looked solid. If I could have gotten the teal like we had on the '22R2 it would have been a no brainer. Now to hurry up and wait for it to get here then good weather.
I got a RZ 1 over a great deal on the XR from Jenson. I run between sizes so a RZ 2 with 150mm travel on a small was right out that simply silly and a very poor fit for me. So I didn't feel cheated nor had to replace the dropper on a RZ 1 I just went and got the right sized dropper post(PNW with adustable travel. The XR I ended up turning down one for the to large dropper but I also found out Marin's specs for this bike on this their website are wrong the come with a SunRace cassette and KMC chains just like the other two spec levels and worse a HG free hub body and not microspline. No deal how matter how good would be worth lowballing the spec in this area.
Thank you for keeping 27.5 alive in the Rift Zone lineup
We love them too
Yes!

Looks like a great bike! Hope to see you guys at an Outerbike this year! 👊

She said you have the green light to buy one, provided she gets one as well.
@@marin_bikes That's the answer I'm hoping for haha!

“I don’t need it…. I don’t need it…. I NEEEDDDD ITTTT”
You need it
By any chance, are we able to purchase & swap our current rear suspension yoke for the updated 2023 version?
Hi Danny - if you are referring to the upper rocker links, they are not compatible with the previous versions of the bikes. This is because the '23s have more travel and slightly different kinematics.
Had mine Rifty 3 for just over a year now - definitely think 140mm will transform this bike

@@marin_bikes That is a excellent suggestion and I may have to do just that lol! Thank you
I have a super upgraded rifty 27.5 1 and I love it!! But what’s the weight of the 2023 rifty 27.5 xr??
Sweet hoping they have a downhill coming out would be so stoked if one came out would definitely buy keep up the good work🎉
thanks for the feedback

Sorry to hear you may of had an issue with your bike, hopefully we can sort it our for you through warranty. The 2023 Rift Zone is a brand new frame
@@marin_bikes Oh, no, I do not have a problem, I have just noticed that the mentioned part has a weak spot, so I was just wondering...

Hi Ambrosio - we don't have a trade-in program, but perhaps you have a friend or family member who might be interested in buying your AT XR.
I want one bad. Hopefully next year
fingers crossed for you
Sooo cool to see a new Marin rift zone! Can’t wait until they hit New Zealand 🇳🇿. Does the rift zone junior have the same travel 🧳?
RZ 26/Jr are 130/130mm bikes. Cheers!
How do you braze aluminum to keep the cables quiet? That doesn't work.
Great question. We braze the cable guides in with aluminum and file them flat
when is it available for sale in US Store?
now

The 2022 is still a highly capable bike that is smartly spec'd, and now an even better value. You really can't go wrong with either.

I went to my local dealer.. they don't know when they are going to have the rift zone 2 in stock 😭
Depending on which country you are in, and when your dealer got their orders in, they should start landing this month and next.
How do you get the new rift zone 2?
Please talk to your local Marin dealer to find out what stock they have www.marinbikes.com/ww/find-a-dealer
