    You should try and put a 27.5 front wheel and leave the 26 at that front and make it a mullet over all really interesting video keep the good work up!

      Hi Marco and Manuel! Glad it was helpful, its an Xfusion Manic 100mm dropper post. It’s actually quite tricky to slam it all the way down. But there is a way to do it but the cable gets kinked so the actuation is not great.
      It really depends on the standover

    Hey Jake & dad - thanks for the review. Am looking at one of these for my son. Can I ask how tall you (Jake, not dad 😉) are? Thanks!

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  Місяць тому

      Hey Charles, no worries. I was around 140cm (4'7") when I did this review, well within the stand over for this bike. If stand over could be an issue, go for a shorter 100mm-120mm drop dropper post if you're going to install one because you can't insert the dropper post all the way down because of the cable routing so will end up with a taller stand over height.

  • @iamkzonjames
    @iamkzonjames 7 місяців тому

    How tall were you on this video? Or when you started riding this? My son is 132cm now and both the 24 and 26 riftzones are on sale. Not sure which one to get for my son if I'll get the 24 which fits him now or will he be tall enough next summer to ride the 26. TiA

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  7 місяців тому

      I’m 135cm, and I was riding a 24” Norco before this. Check the standover height of the 24” vs the 26” if it he can reach the ground for the 26” I’ll go for that.
      The other thing to consider is how easy it is to get a 26” wheelset later given the non-standard specs of the rift zone jr
      One advantage for getting the 24” is it comes with shorter 152mm cranks vs 170mm on the 26”

    I have the 29" Large RIft Zone 1 and it's been a great bike. Just wondering what your experience has been with the xfusion o2 pro r rear shock? I have heard that the rear shock can loose a decent amount of air over time.

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  7 місяців тому

      Hi there! The xfusion O2 shock, it is okay, I haven't had any problems or failure in terms of pressure. However it's really difficult to dial, on normal 30% sag, it bottoms out very e easily, even at 20% sag it bottoms out sometimes even on a lip of a jump which is so annoying. If I put more pressure then it becomes quite harsh. I've been looking for volume spacers to fix it, but I can't find any. I will try to fit a volume spacer from a Fox DPS shock, and hope it works.
      I wanted to upgrade the shock but its is very difficult to find a good one that will be much better than the xfusion, the 190x51mm or 7.5 x 2" size is really rare in today's standards.

    • @SSyclone
      @SSyclone 7 місяців тому

      @@RidesWithJakeThanks for the reply. Hopefully the shock holds up well in the long run. I might also order a DPS volume spacer because I also have that problem with bottoming out.

    hi Jake my 10 yo boy would like this bike. What dropper post did you spec yours with? What other upgrades did you use and were they worthwhile? Thanks and great work.

    • @RidesWithJake
      @RidesWithJake  7 місяців тому

      Hey AJ, That's great pretty sure your boy would love it. I put an XFusion Manic 125mm drop dropper post, if your boy is on the smaller size you can go for 100mm, the TranzX lite dropper post is a good option too, that's the one on the Polygon D24X.
      As for upgrades, I got a bunch of hand-me-down parts from my dad's bike.
      I think for this bike, dropper post is definitely necessary, and then I would look at replacing the brakes once he gets into really steep trails.
      Thanks and appreciate it, glad it helped.

    • @user-fz3wp3ct3f
      @user-fz3wp3ct3f 7 місяців тому

      @@RidesWithJake thanks Jake. Did you have any issues with the dropper post fitting into the Rift zone 26 and did it function smoothly? I read somewhere else that it can can't drop down all the way due to a curve in the bike's post. Also, did you spec it with lighter hubs and 26 tyres , given that the ones they come with are heavy - what do you use?
