I have come to appreciate Good more n more every time I listen to Tim's Bible study. Pray God keep him safe from the viles of the evil one always glorifying His name as he is presently doing. Thanks so much much.

BOOM!!!, right there, the whole gospel explained in a simple sermon.
If one person is serious about following Christ, there it is: God love offered to you. If you believe him, what is true of Jesus is true to you, mainly his gift of life through his resurrection.

Seems like it was a gift to him because he was a skater and then got very interested in the word so much that he immersed himself in it. To be so interested in something like that to really want to know the truth is a gift I think. He seems pretty humble about the whole thing tho. I think he thinks Jesus is so awesome that he kind of not real patient with people who aren't . I don't think thats a bad thing.

Light in outer darkness is every planet currently when reflecting the sun.. We are already in outer darkness. I get a sense of spookiness when i see pictures from outer space. It is VERY dark. In that sense, yes it is possible. But, i get your point. But will bodies like Christ's need water? Does Christ need to still eat and drink, or can He just enjoy a meal if He wants to? So many things to consider but not necessarily important to the point

In watching this series, I have come to relate intimately about being totally alone. It’s not human. It’s not Godlike. It’s not Christlike! You do wither and die. If I had a car and money I would drive to Portland to join this church! I can find no pastor of any true followers of ‘Christ’s Word’ church to even allow me to join! Am I a leper? I’m a sinner who wants to get right with God through Jesus! Will no one come near me? Touch me? Talk to me? I’m scared and hanging on to Jesus, the scriptures and sermons like these......alone!

A question: Is the Father incapable of disintegrating the spirit? Can He make evil just not exist? If a spirit cannot be disintegrated, then hell is necessary as a prison of sort to prevent evil to corrupt again, since there is always a chance the spirit will do evil again.

    • @gholmes5404
      @gholmes5404 4 роки тому

Evil is rebellion against יהוה. We will always be FREE to decide to follow or to rebel. Otherwise, we would not really be “free.” That is why we “are being saved” instead of ARE saved (maybe because of a formula we professed somewhere in our past).
Our Father never forced ANYONE into heaven or into hell. Each individual decides for him/her self.
So if you trust (have faith in) Him, you will be WITH Him. If you “live like hell” ... then He will grant your choice.

Generally, it’s not proper to record a prayer to God. Prayer is something of the moment, and not to be repeated
Most sermons do not include a recorded form of prayer for this reason

    • @davidinstronghold
      @davidinstronghold 4 роки тому +1

@@nomadicrecovery1586 I’m okay with them not recording the prayer- and keeping it intimate between the congregation- but this statement is untrue- when Jesus showed us how to pray, it was recorded in the gospels- and many, many sermons-such as Derek Prince’s sermons, and many others- record prayers as well. And let us not forget the Pslams, either.
Again- I have no preference on this issue- and honestly don’t think it’s a stranger on UA-cam’s job to tell a minister how they should share the word they give on UA-cam, it’s Tim Mackies choice here, and I trust his rationale. But let’s not conflate that into some legalism that claims it’s inappropriate to share a prayer via recording- that’s an untrue statement. We can, and we can’t...God loves that we faithfully and meaningfully pray to Him, regardless. God Bless

@@nomadicrecovery1586 it’s not a matter of agreement or disagreement. It’s fine that you would rather not record- but the Bible does not support your statement. It’s okay for people to record their prayers, and it’s okay for people to not record their prayers. The evidence of this is the reality that there are endless prayers recorded in the Bible, and endless more that were not. What you’re doing is being legalistic

    • @davidinstronghold
      @davidinstronghold 4 роки тому +2

@@nomadicrecovery1586 the only reason we know how to properly pray is because Jesus taught us how, AND it was recorded in the gospel. The reason we have the language of prayer and lamentation is because it was RECORDED in the Bible. It’s perfectly okay to not record the prayer, and I actually appreciate that Tim Mackie keeps it more intimate and non-recorded. But to try to conflate that and claim that there is a legalistic inappropriateness to recorded prayer is not supported by scripture....regardless of your agreement or disagreement. God Bless

18:21 Not sure I agree with his take on hell in James. Less so to retroject this reading and make it the dominant understanding. Hell in scripture is primarily depicted as a place. A present location.
I read James implying Hell is a place of fire. He says, 'And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness.' So this place of fire - hell - is a 'world of unrighteousness'.
Using the same hell imagery, hell is a place which has gates which govern entry. e.g. Open the gates of hell (Mt 16.18). Through the 'will of the pilot' (Jas 3.4) the gate to the world of fire is opened (cf. Does a spring pour forth from the same OPENING? Jas 3.11), which then sets on fire things outside it - forests, the course of life, etc.
Its not that we create hell, rather the tongue can become an opening (or a gate) to hell, the place of fire and destruction that can ruin lives.

Tim I think this verse has to do with rewards. The 4 soils before hand talked about growth (spiritual walk). Why not rip up if it's just believe or don't? The servants knew the difference. Hence why they said didn't you plant good seed. It was the uprooting that causes stoppage of growth. Thus a reduction of potential rewards.

Please help me understand where hell went?
Why there is no acknowledgement of those who don't choose Jesus or the other biblical references to hell?
We are told as believers to judge the church and not those outside the church.
We have instruction on how to deal with these people... not to eat with them and/or even expel them from the church.
These are not glamorous statements... very hard things the church has to decide and discern.
This message overlooked that and seemed to water down the seriousness of eternity.
Tim has such amazing teachings but this one is not the 'thorough, i totally saw how everything connects message' i've appreciated and valued.

Jasmine, I definitely understand your concerns. Though I’m not an apologist for Tim Mackie (however I really like his work), the point of his message was not hell. There is a difference between expository preaching/teaching and looking at a topic in a systematic way (systematic theology). If he were to do a teaching on hell itself, he would’ve listed every passage on the subject and reacted to them. However, Tim was going through the book of Matthew to unpack the message of the Kingdom. Interestingly, he did compare two passages on hell and pointed out that Jesus never gave a definitive answer on the absolute nature of it; which lets us know that the verses on hell are largely metaphorical in nature. That doesn’t “water down” the subject, but encourages us to focus on something else, namely the advancement of the kingdom. The second thing you brought up was judging those who are inside the church. You were referring to 1 Corinthians 5:12-13. You mentioned that it is our responsibility to judge the church and if need be, expel wicked people. Paul in that passage you were referring to was not saying go around and be moral police, looking for bad fruit or weeds and expel them. In fact, he is specifically talking about a man in the congregation that was not only commuting a heinous sin, but was proud of it. Sadly, the Corinthian church for some reason turned a blind eye. Could it be that the person Paul mentioned was a leader in that church, or a benefactor, which could’ve motivated the church not to challenge him? Could it be that Paul was saying we must judge a person who is actively calling evil good and good evil? This person was bringing hell in the congregation and, in a very real sense, promoting it. You see the same type of person in the church of Pergamum and Thyatira in Revelation 2. That person needed to be challenged and expelled. However, we are not called to expel every person with a bad habit, or sinful behavior, because we would have to expel everyone, including ourselves. This type of church discipline cannot be entered into lightly or haphazardly. Again, I believe Paul is talking about influential people in the church who have the influence to erode the church from the inside. These are my thoughts on your very good questions and comments.

I have a question about this particular message 🤔 After listening to everything It seems that when Jesus calls those who will pull up the wheat and weeds at the end of the harvest angels, it sounds like you put "people" or us in that position. I know angelos translates literally to messenger, but I wanted to know if that was your actual thoughts regarding those who would pull up the weeds and wheat.
I ask because you do mention that God sees His workers as bad judgers of the crop, then you talk about application suggesting we are the workers. I know you also define us as the weeds and wheat, but I was just curious if that was intentional or I'm hearing it incorrectly, because I felt he literally meant angels in this passage ...

That’s my question too , he says the servants plant the seed and offer to pull-up the weeds . Then says the reapers/ angels gather and separate the weeds& wheat in the end. he points out that the SEED is the people so I wouldn’t think that they would also be the servants in the parable

Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Just FYI. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." The heavens is talking about the sky and stars. The rest of Genesis 1 are the details of that sentence. Someone has to have told you that, right? I feel like it's a lot of theology for a verse out of context. You kind of admitted your bias in the beginning by saying you're uncomfortable. That's common, but perhaps your feelings are driving your theology. I do appreciate the much of your work and I rejoice in the fact that you clearly help a lot of people know Christ, but so did Rob Bell and I would hate for you follow in his footsteps.

    WEEDS AND WHEAT
Through this parable, we can understand about the inheritors of the kingdom of heaven.
    1. The parable of weeds and wheat in the Bible
    (Matt 13:24-30)
Jesus clarifies the meaning to his disciples
    (Matt 13:36-42)
Only the obedient (Wheat) will go to heaven, the disobedient (weed) will not.
    (Matt 7:21-23)
Let's all become the Wheat in the parable ( the obedient) and go to Heaven.
    Amen !

If you feel so uncomfortable after reading Jesus' words about the removal of false christians from his field, then why not think deeply about why you do not feel confident that you are one of the wheat, and read the scriptures honestly and meditatively and make the changes necessary, now, before it is too late. Otherwise, remove yourself now before the angels do so in the destruction of Babylon the Great.

I think you missed the point matey. Listen with your ears and not with your mouth, and you will understand why Tim said that. Listen to the start again. And then do as Jesus instructed, just grow wheat. 😉🙏👍🏼

I think he did that more so for the people in his church. He knows that people hate to hear about hell and judgement. He’s trying to make it more politically correct, which is a mistake but nobody is perfect. At least he is preaching this parable, most “pastors” nowadays would stay so clear from a passage like this in fear of losing half of his church. So cudos to this guy even if he wasn’t perfect in his delivery. It’s hard to tell people they’re going to hell.

@@jamesbaka1206 The Bible's message is not that people are going to hell. You are a liar like your father. If you were a man of God, you would know that half of the people leaving a church means the half remaining are refined and the church is now much better.

Hell is a REAL PLACE. Jesus spoke more about Hell than he did Heaven. He even said that it would be better to pluck out your eyes than to go to Hell. He also says that many will stand before Him and say Lord, Lord and he will say "depart from me into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels". Who prepared that place? It wasn't man. It was God. Man chooses whether to follow Christ and spend eternity with Him or reject Him and be eternally separated from Him in Hell.

I'm not sure if you're saying that the parable is real or metaphor. You say Jesus is talking about the Earth and heaven literally but hell metaphorically? But then you say that metaphors are more real sore you saying hell is more real than heaven? This teaching does not make sense to me it seems you contradict yourself or speak very confusingly.

I don't think he meant hell was a metaphor. It is as true as heaven.

My understanding of Tim's claim is that Christ was just using the term 'Hell' to describe what humans had created on Earth. It is a 'real place,' it's where we are in our waking lives on Earth most of every day
