Tim Mackie is one of the best biblical teachers of our time, in my opinion. I’ve followed his videos/sermons/podcasts for years now and am refreshed & educated every single time. His knowledge of the Bible is so deep that it blows my mind. I wish every teacher had this level of biblical knowledge! For those of you nerds who crave more biblical discussions, some other great teachers who I recommend are N.T. Wright and Pete Enns. I also recommend the podcast Gospel Simplicity. God bless you all!
Dec 20, 2022. God's Word is Available and Merciful. In our time of technology, thank goodness God gave knowledge, we have the Word available everywhere, at an instantance. Yet we still hesitate on the wonder, the more you research, the more you want too know more. Lets go Brothers and Sisters!

Powerful stuff, and thankfully spoken so gently yet still not withholding. A skill many teachers do not have. It's one thing to have the truth and love to share it, but the way one speaks will always make the difference. It's the way people get their words out, the way they shape their faces, their tone, their adamance... It's the difference between someone telling you they love you in a way you can immediately discern that it is genuine, and someone saying they love you but shouting and yelling and sticking their fingers in your face. absolutely love the way you mark the points, especially the Biblical meaning of words. One thing I would add to this is about the "take off your shoes Moses... thing! The same command Joshua got just before hicking around Jerico. It seems to me that there was something about the shift of power, protection, and walking in the authority of the supreme Kingdom. For the Hebrews shoes were not a big deal, they were shoeless in Egypt. In contrast - Egyptians were crazy about having shoes. Slaves were not supposed to wear shoes. By birth, Moses was a Jew but by the status Egyptian in the wilderness in the WRONG shoes. Shifting the role of the main player, required to get rid of the wrong shoes (lost authority)
This is a good lesson to listen to and to support studying the book of Matthew. Starting with the first 11 chapters. I'm following their reading plan now and am on Matthew. It helps to use the blog, but this lecture really brings understanding to the beginning of that book.

To repent means to turn away from the sin that you're repenting of and to stop doing it. Don't take advantage of God's mercy. Also, don't be deceived, we are called to overcome all sin (by Jesus Christ Himself); to walk in full trust and obedience to God, this is what it means to have faith in God (Romans 4).
Thank you! I so wish that i could find someone who would want this message. They are eager to grab onto a lie, and suspicious of the truth. Those who lie to them tell them not to listen. Truly, we are sheep. It hurts deeper than a knife into this heart. These false teachers have even publically declared that their followers, of their brand on christianity, are to, in their take over, kill those who disagree. How does that make sense? Jesus told Christians to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's Kingdom is a heavenly government, Isaiah 9:6,7, Matthew 5:3; Luke 1:31-33. Very soon God's Kingdom will put an end to all wickedness and bring lasting peace to people on the earth, Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:10. In order to receive everlasting life and the blessings that God's Kingdom government will bring, we must worship the Father with spirit and truth, John 4:22-24; Isaiah 42:8; John 17:3. You mentioned about the image of God. Does it mean the physical imagery or the spiritual attributes of God? Does God have a physical image like man? We humans have flesh and blood while God is a Spiritual Being. Now, when it comes to his spiritual attributes, do we possess those attributes also if the first humans did not fall into sin?
@tim mackie... Please if u have time ..I pray u can answer a question for me. I love your work.. I'm so grateful for what God is doing thru u. But as a man who knows the bible intimately I have to ask y u hold church on Sundays? The bible makes clear the Sabbath is Saturday.. the 7th day of the week. Really is Fri sundown to say sundown as this is how a day was measures in biblical times. From sun down to sundown. Either way..I struggle with this. Because although I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone having church on Sunday.. but then the Sabbath gets neglected. And he only made one day holy.. from the creation story. But I know that . I've seen practically all of ur videos. So then y don't u have church in Saturday? The holy Sabbath sanctified by God.. I'd be so grateful for an answer in this. And again. Thank u for all u have done thru Christ.
The Sabbath is about resting from work - to worship God on Sabbath is to rest from our works. Whichever day(s) we choose to have service on, Sabbath or not, it doesn’t violate the spirit of Sabbath as long as we have rested from our works on Sabbath. And even then, there are exceptions, as the Lord Jesus said: Sabbath rest did not exclude healing people or doing good (Mark 3:4), nor working enough to provide food for the day if you are hungry (Mark 2:25).

Sorry but the Garden was formed later, after God separated the waters and formed land. He created a man and a woman on the sixth day and He Rested on the seventh. And then He formed a Garden. Genesis 2:5 There were no plants or shrubs because there was no man to till the soil. Plants, shrubs and trees were made on the third day. If the earth was a garden, where were Adam and Eve kicked out to?
We are told repeatedly by Tim and many others that the only Scriptures Jesus had was the Hebrew Bible. Yet his teaching on the Kingdom is so radically different to any of the religious leaders of his day and in our day as well. I have no doubt the story of the OT is fulfilled in Jesus but their concept of Messiah is completely opposite to how Jesus portrays himself as King and his upside-down Kingdom.
The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM! Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! The Messiah will resurrect his people! The destiny of the Messiah and his people is to be ON THE EARTH! The renewed restored earth! God also dwelling with them! Rev 21 Matt 24 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Jesus said the Father is the only true God! John 17 3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

Jesus said that this good news of the Kingdom would be preached about in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come, Matthew 24:14. Jesus taught his disciples how to accomplish the preaching of the good news, Acts 20:20; Acts 5:42. Who are following the same instructions that Jesus gave the first century Christians? How will you respond to the good news of the Kingdom? John 4:22-24; John 17:3; Isaiah 55:11. Do you believe God's Word? Do you have questions about God's Kingdom government or His purpose for the earth?

Do not try to understand what Jesus was saying by thinking of what you have been told by religious teachers. They can only repeat from the scriptures and have no personal knowledge of the Kingdom of God or Heaven. God is not contained within any one place but is everywhere, as are the heavens and air above you. The Holy Word spoke truly when it says: in God you live, move and have your being. For the Kingdom of God is above, around and also within you - and you can enter the Kingdom of God. But what is it? It is a state of mind and heart which is fully possessed by God - our Father. When you are in this state, the Father is the head of your body and directs everything you do and all of your life. How can that be? It is possible to be so emptied of selfish desires, enmities, angers, jealousies, greed, and vindictiveness that only God is left in control within your mind and heart. What happens then? Then you enter into the State of Being which is God-directed. It is altogether beautiful and glorious. It is Love, it is generosity, it is caring for other people as you care for yourself, it is non-judgmental since you accept other people exactly as they are, knowing that they too are God’s children and are equally in the Father’s care. It is happiness beyond measure, beyond description, it is joy in the beauty of the world, it is life unlimited and increased energy, it is health and it is the fulfilment of your every need before you even know that you have such a need. You suffer because you do not understand how you have been created, and the true purposes for which you were born. You were born to be sons and heirs of the Father, you were born to enjoy all that the Father is in Himself, and all that He can give you. But you turn your backs on all the glory of the Kingdom and try to find pleasures in earthly things. While you do this, you will never find the Kingdom of God; nor enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. How shall we enter the Kingdom? Jesus has already told you. You enter the Kingdom of Heaven when you repent of all that you are in your heart and mind. When you take your evil to the Father and ask forgiveness and pray for the strength to be cleansed of your evil thoughts, words and deeds, and you finally get rid of them, then you may be sure that you are about to find the Kingdom of Heaven. When you have accomplished this, you will find that your attitudes towards others are changing, for the Father will be doing His Love Work within you. You will be free of the chains and thongs of evil desires and deeds which previously bound you and made you a captive in the world. More than this, you will find that the Father does satisfy your every need.
Long story short; If God loses even one person, then Jesus finished victory on the cross wasn't victorious, the Gospel isn't actually good news, and Satan wins. WHO WILL HAVE ALL MEN TO BE SAVED AND COME UNTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH (1 Timothy 2:4) Don't swallow lies. Cross reference and carefully study what Scripture is saying.
260 Kingdom of God Jesus preached the Kingdom of God. Only about the "Kingdom of God" did he talk. 1)"Be born-again to see the Kingdom of God". He continued to Nicodemus who still was skeptical, "the wind's effect could be seen on trees". Though being BORN AGAIN is internal and non-observable, the effect of the KOG would be observable in the surroundings, as the effect of wind on trees. 2) Of the Kingdom of God Jesus said " KOG is at hand". The Kingdom of God is right here and right now. 3) Jesus further said "Whatever you have done to the least of your neighbour, you have done unto me". Where the powerless neighbour is treated as King God, there is the Kingdom of God . But who is the least in the neighborhood? Whoever at the receiving end of a transaction is the least in the environment. A pedestrian in front of the car driver. A king in front of the tax-payer. Next one to use the toilet. Listener in front of the preacher with a mike. The posterity... Even tomorrow's me is at the receiving end today's me…. Where the sermon on the mountain is considered as practicable and honestly followed there is the Kingdom of God. Kingdom of God envisioned by Jesus is simply treating the least in the neighbourhood as the King God. To serve the powerless neighbour as the King God. One needs to be born again to replace the attitude of exploitation with the attitude of love and care towards the weak neighbour. Born again childlike mind is representative of a child's readiness to accept new interpretation of nature, ie. the scientific temper too. When we look around we will not be able to see KOG anywhere in the world. Churches build mansions in the name of the Kingdom of God. Church authorities and elders fight to loot the asset. Though denominations differ on petty details they are in harmony about the impracticability of the Sermon on the Mountain. Jesus invites individuals, not Church nor any establishment, to follow Him bearing one's own cross. If I find the invitation attractive, the onus is on me to bear my cross and follow Him from this moment on. Bearing one's own cross simply means to take the decision in favour of the weak neighbour (decision to serve little neighbour as King God). Now and here, at hand, is the Kingdom of God. Jesus invites each individual to create a node of one's own Kingdom of God around oneself, where the least in the environment is treated as King God. As long as the least in the neighborhood remains neglected, the Kingdom of God is willingly avoided by the individual. It's futile to wait for the Kingdom of God after the death neglecting the Kingdom of God at hand. The "Kingdom of God" which is at hand, as envisioned by Jesus is to be created willingly by bearing one's own cross. The cross of treating the little one in the neighborhood as King God. Anyone who wishes to follow Him, needs to take decisions in favour of the little one in the neighborhood , "Right here right now".. every moment of life. Indeed a cross, not as easy as following the mindless rituals prescribed by any religion. Religion attempts to obliterate the spirituality of the Kingdom of God. Religion colludes with the individual to neglect the King God, the powerless neighbour. Jesus' invitation is to bear own cross to create the "Kingdom of God" at hand. No erring establishment, nor a leader unable to walk the talk, should be an impediment to the formation of my own personal "Kingdom of God".... The microcosm of "Kingdom of God" is at the node of the individual who decides to take Jesus' invitation "to be born again to see the Kingdom of God" seriously.
WHAT JESUS MEANT BY SOME PEOPLE NOT ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD (PSST…NOT HELL!) Most of the Jews of Jesus' day believed in an imminent Day of Judgment-- a large Citizenship Court Hearing, that a new king, called the Messiah, would conduct following his arrival to oust the Romans from Judea. For those Jews who had been faithful to God, the Jewish prophets promised citizenship in this coming kingdom--the new, independent, theocratic, Jewish government the Messiah would set up, beginning in Jerusalem and, from there, eventually, spreading to all the rest of the earth! To be clear, this "Kingdom of God," was not some pie in the sky, but a real, earthly government, with a lot of people working in many of the administrative positions, and all the perks that would go with them, like nice places to live! This new state of Israel was the "inheritance" God promised the Jewish people once they repented of their sins. But it was obvious, especially in Jesus' day, that not all the Jews were living according to what the Law of Moses and the Prophets said they should, but just doing whatever they could get away with under Roman rule, to live it up, even at the expense of their fellow Jews! These errant Jews were called "sinners," and the ones thought to be the worst sinners were the "publicans," those who collected taxes for Rome by defrauding their fellow Jews. The faithful Jews, however, believed the Messiah would grant citizenship in the new Jewish government only to the observant Jews, and the "sinners and publicans" would be exiled and regarded no better than all the other Gentiles, if not worse! Jesus of Nazareth spoke about this coming Citizenship Court Day, but he added another element to it--that many of those who were claiming to be the most righteous for all their outward piety would actually end up worse off than the "sinners and publicans"! He said they would not only fail to receive some of the really good jobs in the new government of the Messiah, but would not even get citizenship at all! In fact, he said the Messiah was going to look at all their phony good works as if they are just a bunch of dry sticks and have them (the fake good works, that is) all "burned up"! Then, they'd have to leave and, in effect, be thrown out into the "cold" of exile from the kingdom and, as they're leaving, they would be crying ("weeping") and their teeth would begin chattering, ("gnashing") from the metaphorical sense of "darkness" and "cold" they're going to feel when, in complete contrast to all their expectations, they'll end up being the LAST ones to ever get their citizenship! However, it's not that Jesus said anyone, not even the self-righteous, would NEVER get their "green card" in the coming kingdom of God. He did say the "sinners and publicans" would get theirs beforehand! But let's be clear, it's nuts to think Jesus' many warnings to the self-righteous and fake pious people of his day would result in, themselves, getting burned alive in some spirit world after they die! It was only due to a real misunderstand of Jesus' teachings about fake good works getting "burned up" by later Greco-Roman converts to Christianity who thought he meant to say the exiled would, themselves, get burned alive! Thing is, there are false preachers and teachers who are perpetuating this mistaken idea as if it were really true! Please read The Coming Kingdom by Andrew M. Woods. He "demonstrates that the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, views God's kingdom as a specific time within history, upon planet earth, when Israel will have come to belief in Jesus as their Messiah, the curse will have been removed, apart from death, and Jesus will personally reign over planet earth literally from Jerusalem [see detailed description of Millennial Temple in Ezekiel]. If this is the biblical description of the kingdom, and it is, then we are certainly not currently living in it through the Church....The kingdom of God will be the future time in history when Jesus Christ, the Last Adam, will return to planet earth victoriously, and after judging an ungodly world, He will set up His kingdom that will display God's righteousness in every area of life. It is at this time that Christ will put on display a godly culture and social structure within the world." Jesus has not yet been seated on David's throne. Reject Kingdom Now theology.
Yeah when the Pharisees pointedly asked Jesus when this Kingdom would be coming, or perhaps it was the disciples I don't recall at this moment, anyhow when he was asked when this Kingdom would be coming his reply was that the kingdom was already here, that it was within them.....

Powerful stuff, and thankfully spoken so gently yet still not withholding. A skill many teachers do not have. It's one thing to have the truth and love to share it, but the way one speaks will always make the difference. It's the way people get their words out, the way they shape their faces, their tone, their adamance... It's the difference between someone telling you they love you in a way you can immediately discern that it is genuine, and someone saying they love you but shouting and yelling and sticking their fingers in your face.

absolutely love the way you mark the points, especially the Biblical meaning of words. One thing I would add to this is about the "take off your shoes Moses... thing! The same command Joshua got just before hicking around Jerico. It seems to me that there was something about the shift of power, protection, and walking in the authority of the supreme Kingdom. For the Hebrews shoes were not a big deal, they were shoeless in Egypt. In contrast - Egyptians were crazy about having shoes. Slaves were not supposed to wear shoes. By birth, Moses was a Jew but by the status Egyptian in the wilderness in the WRONG shoes. Shifting the role of the main player, required to get rid of the wrong shoes (lost authority)

Repent doesn't mean to stop. It means to change.
To repent means to turn away from the sin that you're repenting of and to stop doing it. Don't take advantage of God's mercy. Also, don't be deceived, we are called to overcome all sin (by Jesus Christ Himself); to walk in full trust and obedience to God, this is what it means to have faith in God (Romans 4).

Jesus told Christians to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's Kingdom is a heavenly government, Isaiah 9:6,7, Matthew 5:3; Luke 1:31-33. Very soon God's Kingdom will put an end to all wickedness and bring lasting peace to people on the earth, Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:10. In order to receive everlasting life and the blessings that God's Kingdom government will bring, we must worship the Father with spirit and truth, John 4:22-24; Isaiah 42:8; John 17:3. You mentioned about the image of God. Does it mean the physical imagery or the spiritual attributes of God? Does God have a physical image like man? We humans have flesh and blood while God is a Spiritual Being. Now, when it comes to his spiritual attributes, do we possess those attributes also if the first humans did not fall into sin?

But as a man who knows the bible intimately I have to ask y u hold church on Sundays? The bible makes clear the Sabbath is Saturday.. the 7th day of the week. Really is Fri sundown to say sundown as this is how a day was measures in biblical times. From sun down to sundown. Either way..I struggle with this. Because although I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone having church on Sunday.. but then the Sabbath gets neglected. And he only made one day holy.. from the creation story. But I know that . I've seen practically all of ur videos. So then y don't u have church in Saturday? The holy Sabbath sanctified by God.. I'd be so grateful for an answer in this. And again. To adhere to the Sabbath is to cease striving for our own righteousness. Read the book of Hebrews. Have you entered His rest?
The Sabbath is about resting from work - to worship God on Sabbath is to rest from our works. Whichever day(s) we choose to have service on, Sabbath or not, it doesn’t violate the spirit of Sabbath as long as we have rested from our works on Sabbath. And even then, there are exceptions, as the Lord Jesus said: Sabbath rest did not exclude healing people or doing good (Mark 3:4), nor working enough to provide food for the day if you are hungry (Mark 2:25).

The more I watch Tim (and others), I realize that Tim (and others) have no idea what the Kingdom of God actually is.
Sorry but the Garden was formed later, after God separated the waters and formed land. He created a man and a woman on the sixth day and He Rested on the seventh. And then He formed a Garden. Genesis 2:5 There were no plants or shrubs because there was no man to till the soil.
Plants, shrubs and trees were made on the third day.
If the earth was a garden, where were Adam and Eve kicked out to?
We are told repeatedly by Tim and many others that the only Scriptures Jesus had was the Hebrew Bible. Yet his teaching on the Kingdom is so radically different to any of the religious leaders of his day and in our day as well. I have no doubt the story of the OT is fulfilled in Jesus but their concept of Messiah is completely opposite to how Jesus portrays himself as King and his upside-down Kingdom.
The gospel is the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM!
Jesus is going to return and set up the kingdom of God ON THE EARTH! God’s government ON THE EARTH! The Messiah died for his people! God resurrected the Messiah! There will only be one government over the entire earth forever, Daniel 2:44. Jesus said that this good news of the Kingdom would be preached about in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come, Matthew 24:14. Jesus taught his disciples how to accomplish the preaching of the good news, Acts 20:20; Acts 5:42. Who are following the same instructions that Jesus gave the first century Christians? How will you respond to the good news of the Kingdom? John 4:22-24; John 17:3; Isaiah 55:11. Do you believe God's Word? Do you have questions about God's Kingdom government or His purpose for the earth?

Do not try to understand what Jesus was saying by thinking of what you have been told by religious teachers. They can only repeat from the scriptures and have no personal knowledge of the Kingdom of God or Heaven.
God is not contained within any one place but is everywhere, as are the heavens and air above you. The Holy Word spoke truly when it says: in God you live, move and have your being.
For the Kingdom of God is above, around and also within you - and you can enter the Kingdom of God.
But what is it?
It is a state of mind and heart which is fully possessed by God - our Father. When you are in this state, the Father is the head of your body and directs everything you do and all of your life.
How can that be?
It is possible to be so emptied of selfish desires, enmities, angers, jealousies, greed, and vindictiveness that only God is left in control within your mind and heart.
What happens then?
Then you enter into the State of Being which is God-directed. It is altogether beautiful and glorious. It is Love, it is generosity, it is caring for other people as you care for yourself, it is non-judgmental since you accept other people exactly as they are, knowing that they too are God’s children and are equally in the Father’s care. It is happiness beyond measure, beyond description, it is joy in the beauty of the world, it is life unlimited and increased energy, it is health and it is the fulfilment of your every need before you even know that you have such a need.
You suffer because you do not understand how you have been created, and the true purposes for which you were born.
You were born to be sons and heirs of the Father, you were born to enjoy all that the Father is in Himself, and all that He can give you. But you turn your backs on all the glory of the Kingdom and try to find pleasures in earthly things. While you do this, you will never find the Kingdom of God; nor enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
How shall we enter the Kingdom?
Jesus has already told you. You enter the Kingdom of Heaven when you repent of all that you are in your heart and mind. When you take your evil to the Father and ask forgiveness and pray for the strength to be cleansed of your evil thoughts, words and deeds, and you finally get rid of them, then you may be sure that you are about to find the Kingdom of Heaven. When you have accomplished this, you will find that your attitudes towards others are changing, for the Father will be doing His Love Work within you. You will be free of the chains and thongs of evil desires and deeds which previously bound you and made you a captive in the world. More than this, you will find that the Father does satisfy your every need.
Long story short; If God loses even one person, then Jesus finished victory on the cross wasn't victorious, the Gospel isn't actually good news, and Satan wins.
WHO WILL HAVE ALL MEN TO BE SAVED AND COME UNTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH (1 Timothy 2:4)
Don't swallow lies. Cross reference and carefully study what Scripture is saying.

Kingdom of God
Jesus preached the Kingdom of God. Only about the "Kingdom of God" did he talk.
1)"Be born-again to see the Kingdom of God". He continued to Nicodemus who still was skeptical, "the wind's effect could be seen on trees". Though being BORN AGAIN is internal and non-observable, the effect of the KOG would be observable in the surroundings, as the effect of wind on trees.
2) Of the Kingdom of God Jesus said " KOG is at hand". The Kingdom of God is right here and right now.
3) Jesus further said "Whatever you have done to the least of your neighbour, you have done unto me". Where the powerless neighbour is treated as King God, there is the Kingdom of God .
But who is the least in the neighborhood? Whoever at the receiving end of a transaction is the least in the environment. A pedestrian in front of the car driver. A king in front of the tax-payer. Next one to use the toilet. Listener in front of the preacher with a mike. The posterity... Even tomorrow's me is at the receiving end today's me….
Where the sermon on the mountain is considered as practicable and honestly followed there is the Kingdom of God.
Kingdom of God envisioned by Jesus is simply treating the least in the neighbourhood as the King God. To serve the powerless neighbour as the King God. One needs to be born again to replace the attitude of exploitation with the attitude of love and care towards the weak neighbour. Born again childlike mind is representative of a child's readiness to accept new interpretation of nature, ie. the scientific temper too.
When we look around we will not be able to see KOG anywhere in the world. Churches build mansions in the name of the Kingdom of God. Church authorities and elders fight to loot the asset. Though denominations differ on petty details they are in harmony about the impracticability of the Sermon on the Mountain. Jesus invites individuals, not Church nor any establishment, to follow Him bearing one's own cross. If I find the invitation attractive, the onus is on me to bear my cross and follow Him from this moment on. Bearing one's own cross simply means to take the decision in favour of the weak neighbour (decision to serve little neighbour as King God). Now and here, at hand, is the Kingdom of God.
Jesus invites each individual to create a node of one's own Kingdom of God around oneself, where the least in the environment is treated as King God. As long as the least in the neighborhood remains neglected, the Kingdom of God is willingly avoided by the individual. It's futile to wait for the Kingdom of God after the death neglecting the Kingdom of God at hand.
The "Kingdom of God" which is at hand, as envisioned by Jesus is to be created willingly by bearing one's own cross. The cross of treating the little one in the neighborhood as King God. Anyone who wishes to follow Him, needs to take decisions in favour of the little one in the neighborhood , "Right here right now".. every moment of life. Indeed a cross, not as easy as following the mindless rituals prescribed by any religion. Religion attempts to obliterate the spirituality of the Kingdom of God. Religion colludes with the individual to neglect the King God, the powerless neighbour.
Jesus' invitation is to bear own cross to create the "Kingdom of God" at hand. No erring establishment, nor a leader unable to walk the talk, should be an impediment to the formation of my own personal "Kingdom of God"....
The microcosm of "Kingdom of God" is at the node of the individual who decides to take Jesus' invitation "to be born again to see the Kingdom of God" seriously.
WHAT JESUS MEANT BY SOME PEOPLE NOT ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD (PSST…NOT HELL!)
Most of the Jews of Jesus' day believed in an imminent Day of Judgment-- a large Citizenship Court Hearing, that a new king, called the Messiah, would conduct following his arrival to oust the Romans from Judea.
For those Jews who had been faithful to God, the Jewish prophets promised citizenship in this coming kingdom--the new, independent, theocratic, Jewish government the Messiah would set up, beginning in Jerusalem and, from there, eventually, spreading to all the rest of the earth!
To be clear, this "Kingdom of God," was not some pie in the sky, but a real, earthly government, with a lot of people working in many of the administrative positions, and all the perks that would go with them, like nice places to live!
This new state of Israel was the "inheritance" God promised the Jewish people once they repented of their sins. But it was obvious, especially in Jesus' day, that not all the Jews were living according to what the Law of Moses and the Prophets said they should, but just doing whatever they could get away with under Roman rule, to live it up, even at the expense of their fellow Jews!
These errant Jews were called "sinners," and the ones thought to be the worst sinners were the "publicans," those who collected taxes for Rome by defrauding their fellow Jews.
The faithful Jews, however, believed the Messiah would grant citizenship in the new Jewish government only to the observant Jews, and the "sinners and publicans" would be exiled and regarded no better than all the other Gentiles, if not worse!
Jesus of Nazareth spoke about this coming Citizenship Court Day, but he added another element to it--that many of those who were claiming to be the most righteous for all their outward piety would actually end up worse off than the "sinners and publicans"! He said they would not only fail to receive some of the really good jobs in the new government of the Messiah, but would not even get citizenship at all!
In fact, he said the Messiah was going to look at all their phony good works as if they are just a bunch of dry sticks and have them (the fake good works, that is) all "burned up"! Then, they'd have to leave and, in effect, be thrown out into the "cold" of exile from the kingdom and, as they're leaving, they would be crying ("weeping") and their teeth would begin chattering, ("gnashing") from the metaphorical sense of "darkness" and "cold" they're going to feel when, in complete contrast to all their expectations, they'll end up being the LAST ones to ever get their citizenship!
However, it's not that Jesus said anyone, not even the self-righteous, would NEVER get their "green card" in the coming kingdom of God. He did say the "sinners and publicans" would get theirs beforehand!
But let's be clear, it's nuts to think Jesus' many warnings to the self-righteous and fake pious people of his day would result in, themselves, getting burned alive in some spirit world after they die! It was only due to a real misunderstand of Jesus' teachings about fake good works getting "burned up" by later Greco-Roman converts to Christianity who thought he meant to say the exiled would, themselves, get burned alive!
Thing is, there are false preachers and teachers who are perpetuating this mistaken idea as if it were really true!

Yeah when the Pharisees pointedly asked Jesus when this Kingdom would be coming, or perhaps it was the disciples I don't recall at this moment, anyhow when he was asked when this Kingdom would be coming his reply was that the kingdom was already here, that it was within them.....
