Looking back at Genesis and in particular, with regards to Esau and Jacob, we see how difficult it is to distinguish the real deal when we are blind.
Isaac, in giving his blessing is aware that Jacob gives food like Esau's, he smells like Esau, he feels like Esau.
However, the thing that causes doubt was how Jacob spoke. And the most heart wrenching question a Father can ask:
    ‭‭Genesis 27:24 NIV‬‬
[24] “Are you really my son Esau?” he asked. “I am,” he replied.

    John 10:25-30 KJV
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.

What about those of us, for health reasons, who are not a part of a church community? Not everyone can get outside and go. So I thank God we have these videos and sermons online. Even though I do not attend a physical church, I am still a member of the body of Christ and do not feel I am missing out. I fellowship online.

_It is the same for countless of us in the "invisible" church. I'm in a very small town in Virginia & have no church that teaches biblically, without secular "worship", teaches end times prophecy/Israel or that doesn't have a woman "Pastor". It's been 5 years now. Hold fast, beloved. Maranatha_

@@kingdomrunt Thanks. I think this is becoming more common as the world devolves into darkness. Those of us who are born again are being pushed out. I am quite content fellowshipping online with brothers and sisters in Christ and listening to these wonderful messages and sermons from godly pastors. The internet can be used for many evil purposes but this is one I am especially thankful for.

Honest to God, I don’t know what to say. Dr. Sproul first heard and can’t stop listening all Ligonier Fellows 5 years. I was a member of the Baptist Church in a small community. I had to move residence here in a different city. I haven’t found a church here. I am wheat? I don’t attend church yet. I have tried several, too big, too busy. A meeting of the Club and they didn’t need any more members. So I have my eye on a small church to go. I have been told I must fellowship with like minded whether they are doing what Jesus says or not. Holy word says so (except whether they are obedient or not obedient)
Elijah - God rebuked him. I have 7,000 whom have not bended the knee to Baal. I am scared to death too!!- “Go I never knew you”. Belief Faith, Holy Spirit - These gifts Dr. Lawson, “You don’t think you, came up with The Salvation Plan of God”. No, I don’t. Holy Spirit heart, “You are my child”.
I see by Faith, I fall, Jesus picks me up, He has never left me. Jesus has never withdrawn His Spirit from me. No butts - how Lord, help me is my prayer. Amen. I heard this Sermon, no coincidence. I believe my prayer has been answered.

I truly am a child of God. I am a born again Christian, but I cannot get to church for some reasons. First, medically I am not allowed to drive. Secondly, I am living on Social Security and cannot afford, every Sunday, to get a cab to drive me to church. None of the churches around where I live are good churches. They either are man centered or prosperity teachers and preachers and don't preach the one true gospel of Jesus Christ. They're seeker sensitive. I have checked churches around here and I have yet to find one that has transportation for those who don't drive. I also don't have alot of money, so I don't have any church worthy clothing to WEAR to church. What am I suppose to do? I'm being made to feel as though I'm not a true Christian because I'm not with a body of believers. I LONG to be with other Christians, but I just don't see any way of getting to church. So i watch alot of video sermons from R C Sproul, Paul Washer, Voddie Baucham and John Mac Arthur. That is the best I can do

[22] On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name? ’ [23] Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! ‭Matthew 13:24-30 HCSB‬
[24] He presented another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. [25] But while people were sleeping, his enemy came, sowed weeds among the wheat, and left. [26] When the plants sprouted and produced grain, then the weeds also appeared. [27] The landowner’s slaves came to him and said, ‘Master, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from? ’ [28] “ ‘An enemy did this! ’ he told them. “ ‘So, do you want us to go and gather them up? ’ the slaves asked him. [29] “ ‘No,’ he said. ‘When you gather up the weeds, you might also uproot the wheat with them. [30] Let both grow together until the harvest. At harvest time I’ll tell the reapers: Gather the weeds first and tie them in bundles to burn them, but store the wheat in my barn.’ ”
[36] Then He dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached Him and said, “Explain the parable of the weeds in the field to us.” [37] He replied: “The One who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; [38] the field is the world; and the good seed - these are the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, [39] and the enemy who sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. [40] Therefore, just as the weeds are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. [41] The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather from His kingdom everything that causes sin and those guilty of lawlessness. [42] They will throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [43] Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. Anyone who has ears should listen!

Obviously, we can blind ourselves, thinking we are of the elect but will hear the words, "I never knew you. Depart from Me!" It is ALL "from Him, through Him and to Him." If we can (and do) fool ourselves, how are others to determine whether we are or aren't "in Christ?" We may discern but we cannot judge.

The idea of people being regular attenders/members of a good, Bible teaching, gospel presenting church for 20, 30, 40+ years and STILL ending up in hell is horrifying to me. How can that even be possible? How can you hear, on a regular basis, how glorious Jesus is, and have no interest in Him/living for Him? Why are you wasting time even going to church in the first place? It's mind boggling.
I haven't seen church discipline done in probably 30 years. We are in no danger of doing it too rashly. People live however they want these days and nothing is done about it.

  • @hammerbarca6

This can I think be argued from other texts, but Jesus says explicitly that the field in this parable is the world, not the church. This is talking about regenerate and non-regenerate in the world, not in the church

    • @christychapin8357

The Bible is very clear about Israel and then the church being full of the unredeemed. If you don’t want to go with this parable, then look at the warnings about false prophets and wolves in sheeps’ clothing. It’s important to understand this point bc the church is so weak in the West and we don’t want people thinking it completely represents the heart and body of Christ.

This whole teaching is based on the premise that our Lord Jesus Christ used the “church” as the harvest field in the parable of the wheat and tares, when this is irrefutable false. Read your Bible folks. The harvest field is revealed by Jesus as the “world” not the church.
Matt 13:36-38 36Then he left the crowds and went into the house. The truth is that people will reap God's judgement if they don't believe and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ and of they don't repent of their sins. / Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father except through Him.
