Thank you so much for sharing your experience and your method! Everything makes sense. I have a baby desert rose but I wonder how old it is and how to grow it properly. I’m so happy to discover your channel and learn from you. ❤️ Love all your older desert roses full of flowers with magnificent caudex too! They are the most beautiful adeniums I’ve seen.
I just love your creations and keeping the flowers going. Peace and Good Fortune and Good Health to you and your family. Good to see you posting again.
I want to know how long you had to work with your birds, to get then to sing so sweetly? Haha. Your backyard is beautiful and with all those lovely birds singing their hearts out-it seems like heaven!
Thank you for sharing this! I ordered a dozen desert rose plants from a nursery in South Texas at the beginning of the summer. They looked like they were about 2 months old. I really messed up when I put them in pots because they have barely grown any. I think the soil I used was way too sandy, and I kept them too dry. I still have 8 of them left, and I put them into soil similar to what you used this morning. It's still pretty warm where I live in east Texas so hopefully they will grow some.
Love all your videos! I’m learning so much, I planted 400 seedlings last year and didn’t know to cut off the root when repotting. Would love to see an update on these babies.
Sony, your channel has been such an inspiration to me. I purchased 4 Impala Lilies (what we called them in Africa where they grow naturally) back in October and immediately repotted them just as you have shown. I also took the cuttings and repotted those, but some of the cuttings died. I think I didn't give them enough water. I hope to do the next repotting at the end of January. It would be very helpful if you helped with some general care instructions. How often should we water? How often should we fertilize when we are not repotting? What fertilizer do you recommend and how much? Also, what sand do you recommend using with the potting soil? I have just been digging sand out of my back yard when repotting since I live in Tampa where the ground is very sandy. Is this ok? It is so nice seeing these beautiful trees again that I remember so vividly from childhood growing up in Africa. Thanks again.
I lost my dessert flower bonsai !! He coudn’t survive the TX weather!! The big root (caudet) got rotten!! I only save some branches!! I hope they will grow healthy!! I have done this before!! I share one after they began to grow and they are healthy!! I want to follow you in order to grow another one better!! Thanks for sharing your experiences!! Gid bless you!! I bought this one online, a little one!! It lasted to this year!! I lived in Fl and we had to move to TX and the weather it’s hard to cope for the plants!! I am very sorry!!
Sony, what a great channel you have here! I'm both a "liker" and subsciber. I am following your advice on the Adenium because I have 4 coming to my home in Lake Charles, La from a vendor I found on Etsy. The price was reasonable for the pictured size, so I made the purchase! I want to be sure and do all the right things and from the looks of your specimens, you've been obviously doing what's right. I started to buy a book on the subject, but as it looks, there's so much info on UA-cam, I have no need! Happy growing. 🙂
Do you have a video somewhere that I have missed regarding growing desert, rose from seed, like the soil, light, etc. etc.? Your videos are absolutely amazing and I appreciate all that you do.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a dozen of roses. Planted and put them outside in the shade. Last night we had a huge thunderstorm and soak everything. I’m hoping they don’t rot. Any suggestions please? I just found your channel and subscribed. Your videos are very informative and helpful. Your time, work, experience and knowledge are very much appreciated. Blessings and take care. Greetings from Champaign, Illinois, USA❤
I love all your videos. Very helpful and informative. I have a question, before repotting is it necessary to stop watering the plant? For how many days?
I'm a newcomer to the desert rose I love your video my second one how can i get seeds of this plant to purchase I live in Jamaica will be tooling forward for your reply thanks for sharing your heart with eu ñuff blessings keep the good work going
Great video. So does cutting root start to make caudex fat and wide? I want big fat caudex. So the pot looks like the next size up from cup size, yes? It looks like you reuse existing soil, do you add fertilizer? Thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing the video, recently i have bought some adenium samplings from online and two mature adenium plants from nursery. The healthy one had died i don't know the reason but the unhealthy one is still good.
6:21. I refused to grow variegated plants of different kinds. They usually more difficult for growing. But you can try. May be variegated desert rose grow well.
Great and inspirational videos. I planted some seeds and they are like 2 months old but they are like 2 inches tall. How can I help them to grow bigger. They look like they stopped growing.
Hello Sonny ,Loving your videos on everything, are really interesting, thank you so much.... QUESTION...Can you please share with me the link of your store if you have one, I would like some seeds and to see what else you have ,thank you
May I ask why you switched the potting medium? At first you started the seedlings in a raised bed mix. Then you made your own mix for the plants at this stage and in the later videos you went back to the raised bed mix when the plants are larger. So I was just wondering why the switch?
Hi Sony, I love your seeds plants, the leaves are very green and glossy. Do you leave in a shady place or full sun? Mine are not so beautiful like yours, but I'll try my best to follow your instruction. Anyway, thanks so much. I learn so much from you. Thank you. Moïa
Hay Mr. So this is as far as my desert roses grow what do I need to do,they get like your first set of cups when u first planted them,I which I could send a pic
Sony may I know what fertilizers you use for your adenium baby plants. My seedlings are very small about three inches after six months. Whereas your seedlings have grown about 6- 8 inches
I was wondering as well but he explains at 11:52 that he cuts the tap root so that the caudex/trunk grows wider rather than vertical. I imagine this creates helps to grow it in a bonsai style.
The weather in US - Florida and Australia is different. Your cold months are in summer in US. But I do it when temperature stays about 28 C degree or above. Thank you
I'm trying to grow the blue desert rose from seed I cant get it to germinate seed just goes mushy I've watched video of them soaking in water first maybe that's the problem any advice on getting them started
Desert roses drive me crazy , my wife keeps buying them and I keep killing them. I don't overwater. In the winter we place them under the eaves of the house but a couple still rotted. We use well draining soil, Uni Gro. No idea and this is inland S. Calif. Anyone ideas?
Hello, a question, I have germinated seeds of 2 months, how many days should they be watered? I don't know if I have them very dry or very wet 🤔, but they don't look good, they don't thrive, thanks.
If the soil is dry and they are shriveling then you should water them. My seedlings are only a month old but they are in my house which is quite a bit dryer / warmer than outdoors. I water them 2/3 times a week.

I have one of these plants ordered... Can't wait to receive it.
I'm very curious how the variegated seedling develops. 👍
Me too! Let us know if the variegated one, produces seeds that turn into more variegated plants!

They grow so fast! Faster than mine 😂
I am growing some desert rose from seeds. How old should they be before putting them in direct sunlight?
They are about 3-4 months old right now.
Hello Sonny ,Loving your videos on everything, are really interesting, thank you so much.... QUESTION...Can you please share with me the link of your store if you have one, I would like some seeds and to see what else you have ,thank you
Hello. I was wondering what soil was you using for your larger DR Thanks
So if you grow from seeds and report younger can we do super little bonsais like they will stay little like 4-5 inches taller?
How old are these seedlings? Beautiful!!!
Where did you buy the big pot for desert rose?

When it was young, I left them in partial sun (2 or 3 hour in the morning). 5-6 hour after a year and full sun after 2 years. Thanks
I always look forward to your new video. It's been couple of months already 👍
💖
Can you prune them when they are about 6 inches tall?
But can please tell why it is must to dry the bonsai after cutting the roots or pruning it.
very nice
Hi Sony, I noted you cut the bottom of the roots, then repot them without putting any fungicide. How come they don’t get root rot?
I didnot water right after and the soil was dry. Thank you

Have you ever had to winter your dessert rose.
Please make a update video on it..

Why do you cut the tap root on it he young desert roses?

Did you figure it out? asking for help...
Buenas noches , para que sirve el corte y no se pudre al no tratarla , gracias
Why do you cut the root?
Why do you cut the main root off?
Because he doesn't want a deep root system, which is also better if you want to eventually put them in bonsai pots or more shallow pots
I would love to be this guys neighbor.
is there a reason he cuts the root other then his pot is not deep ?
So it grows a fat trunk.
Seriously need help in soil mixing. If I can't find the clay, so can only use peat moss and cocopea? At ratio 50:50?
Add some perlite as well, it helps with drainage.
Bonsoir avez vous vendez des plantes 'combien une plante ? Merci
Hi Sony, are you interested in growing plumerias from seeds? I can send them to you.
So I sell seeds
