    Another great episode! Love the newsletter. And I'm SO glad to hear your podcast on the documentary this season. Tim's comments on the upcoming season are spot on. Like him, I wonder how fans will react if we come to a performance plateau and we don't win as many games as we did the past two seasons. I remember the 5 matches we didn't do well last season and how "doom and gloom" quickly settled over social media comments. It's only natural for teams to go through spells of highs and lows. I'd be happy to finish in the top 15 next season. That would give us time to settle into League One, get the financials and infrastructure in place to continue to grow, and get the missing pieces (training ground, academy, women's, KOP, and grounds) in proper shape to be a proper Championship team. I am looking forward to next season, and I'm certain Parky and the crew are all the right ones to take us up when we're ready. Keep on the great work lads. Your podcast is treasure for us US folk. Up the town.

      Agree 100%. 15th or above next season will be excellent. I’m sure Parky will want to do much better than that but there will be no crisis if that doesn’t happen from my perspective.

    the bit about Tozer - destined to be a coach, hopefully at WXM

      Almost inevitable that the player everyone thinks will be a coach turns out to not be a very good one.

      @@mikehughescq You literally just made that up... that isn't a thing at all.

      @@davidnelson7719 people spent a decade talking up Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney. All of them were “students of the game”. All of them were “taking bits from every manager they played under”. All of them absolutely useless.
      You still confident I’m making it up? :)

      @@mikehughescq Yes, I think you are suffering from confirmation bias.
      Every single coach is a coach because someone thought they would be a good coach. Good coaches, bad coaches, great coaches, dead coaches, and future coaches.

    • @mikehughescq
      @mikehughescq 6 місяців тому +1

      @@davidnelson7719 you’ve either deliberately not understood my point or are being wilfully obtuse for the sake of nothing in particular. I’ll go with one of those as they’re a bit politer than expressing the thought that you’re not especially bright.
      1 - no, not everybody is a coach because someone thought they would be a good one. Many are coaches because they and only they believed that.
      2 - my point was not about people who are backed. It was specifically about those who are UNANIMOUSLY backed. Those about who nobody has any doubts whatsoever. That would be why my post contained the word “everyone”. That was not careless. It was a very precise and deliberate use of the word.
      3 - you’ve not understood “confirmation bias” either. In order for my hypothesis to have that issue it would have needed to have been “In every instance the player everyone thinks will be a coach turns out to not be a very good one.” That isn’t what I said though. What I said though was “Almost inevitable that…”. To translate that into even simpler English for you then… I was saying that my assertion was true in most but not all cases. Most people would think that both reasonable and also demonstrable. You on the other hand saw it’s an opportunity to demonstrate the dangers of skim reading UA-cam comments. Bravo.
      Tozer has had people tipping him to be a coach for a long time. There appears to be unanimity. He almost certainly will be a coach. Will he be a good one? I’ve seen zero evidence to back that up.

    Loyalty scheme - the measure for me will be how it treats disabled fans and those with long-term health conditions who have periods when they inevitably miss games because of that.
    More interesting for me right now though is who leaked it and why? We have a long history of such leaks and we seem scared to call out the obvious culprit. Leaks from the club board, the WST board and now the CAB. It’s obvious who it is. Call them out and bin them. They represent no-one at this point bar their own ego. They’ve loved being the person in the know for far too long now.
