Well, last time they played at Barkleys Center, the crowd wanted and pacifically asked the band to play something from Angles and Julian wouldn't do it. He said, 'what is Angles? What about my needs? Let's play a new song...' and they started playing Ode to the Mets. I think he wasn't interested because the Strokes were going through a bad period at that time and they don't have very good memories of recording that album. But, thankfully, for this time, he chose at least one song from that album.
@@jairEbe is that what he said? How funny!😂 Someone else said that one of the other band members said, "fuck Angles." Idk which one though.🤔 Unless it's a lie? Where you there that night?
@@lucakat9262 haha i wasnt there but I wish i was there. But here ua-cam.com/video/83ylHVFqQs0/v-deo.html at the beginning, Albert told him that but he was repeating what the crowd was asking to play.
Thank you so much for uploading this. One of my biggest dreams is to listen Under Cover of Darkness live and despite I have seen them two times here in Colombia they have never played this song so I really appreciate it thank you.
Con este cambio de tonalidad suena como una canción que tranquilamente pudo ser parte del "Room on Fire", siento que esta versión va demasiado con la onda melódica de ese álbum... ✌🏻🎶⚡
2 reasons, because of the fast tempo and guitar parts during the verses it’s hard to play live for their guitarist and Julian hates playing songs from Angles live
@@Anteater1530 he has said that he's not that fond of either Angles or Comedown Machine. He says he just doesn't get those two albums. But, then again, you have to realize the band was going through a tough time when those albums were made. For example, they weren't getting along very well and there were creative differences. So I think that's why Julian feels the way he does concerning those albums.🤷♀️
@@lucs028 you are welcome to believe what you want. I don't have time to go through a bunch of UA-cam interviews to find it. But it is out there. Besides, why would I make that up? What would be the point? I love those two albums. In addition, it's on the New Years Eve concert from 2019 where the crowd asked Julian to play something from Angles and Julian said to the audience and then his other band mates "what is Angles? I don't remember it, do you?" Then he added, "what about my needs? Let's play a new song." And so they played Ode to the Mets for the first time. That concert is on UA-cam. You can look it up. Sorry, but I'm a die hard Strokes fan and I don't make shit up. There's no reason to.😏
Idk, the band is always 10/10 but Julian seems sad/disinterested in almost every concert... I know it's always been that way but particularly I find it quite disappointing :/ Strokes is probably my favorite band all time and the studio songs are so energetic and truly make me feel alive every time I listen, I really wish the concerts were more similar to original versions... Anyway, I don't know why I never get used to it
They can be hit or miss sometimes. Remember that they’re still human beings who have bad days and fuck-ups. Adding to that it must get tiring singing the same songs over and over and over. I like to think of it like this: you probably watched a UA-cam video today. How many time could you replay that video before you’re absolutely sick and tired of it? For me its like something around 3 or 4 in a row lol
Well, at least when he plays Barkleys Center, it seems like he enjoys it more. He must like the sound there more. I know he hates it when the sound is not right/off. He gets pissed then or so it appears.🤷♀️
I think Julian is using autotune too. Can't blame them for wanting to change it up, they must have performed some of these songs literally thousands of times.
Love what they are doing with older tunes, changing them up and its always so interesting to hear
Except for razorblade it was perfect before lol.

y lo va a cantar con the VOIDZ! te lo aseguro.

This tuning is melancolic and cool
Yeah definitely noticed they aren’t playing the same notes as the record version

So cool with the crowd singing along even with the guitar lead lines! 👍

ese Julian está viejo, pero aún conserva su magia
I honestly prefer this lower tone and slower version of UCOD
is this a bit slowed?
And lower key
Different key i think or nah?
Most definetly a lower key, also sounds tad bit slower
it sounded kinda sad but still pretty cool
Interesting performance of this gem! ps: if the tune gets you weird out or something just play the video on 1.25x playback, it'll work i swear🙃
póngale de velocidad 1.1 suena chingon xd
This sounds off.
Is the tempo slower or something?
The changed the key of the song so Julian can hit the right notes i think. Im not sure if Julian could hit the notes of the original song anymore
slowed and reverb
Wish they didn't have to change the key 😥
c'mon jules.. youre not old enough to not hitting the original key...
I didn't notice that
He can reach it, doesn't mean he wants to
The recorded version is too high for Julian's voice. Julian is a baritone.
@@BukanIbuMu almost all his songs are not for baritones for example Yolo or You talk way to much
