Thank you so much for sharing your process. I love the way you think at the beginning about what you want the painting to be about. And then you evaluate your painting at the end with ideas for next time. I Iove how you see the world.
When the video started, we tried to guess what the initial mixtures would be, and what you came up with surprised us! The real action happened in the neutrals, setting up a subtle chromatic glow. The rough-hewn, chiseled brushstrokes became more refined as the painting progressed, with a strong description of the essential shapes of the landscape. This is a great approach for painting en plein air, and really a good way to start any painting, dealing with broad, general issues first and progressing toward greater detail only after the foundation is sound. We really enjoyed this, and the location was beautiful!
Thanks Blick! I agree, it’s great to start with the essential shapes first and then add nuance and detail later. Especially in plein air when we’re often short on time!
Beautiful painting! I was born in the Santa Cruz mountains and it's so nostalgic seeing these familiar views that I used to walk by all the time. It would be good to return there again one day.

You truly managed to capture the impression of the space and did a great job capturing the backlit color. Nice job girl!
Thanks! :)
Fabulous, as always, Christina. You make it look easy, but it’s subtly beautiful.
Thank you Maura! That means a lot to me 🥰
