Everyone in the band were childhood best friends that grew up to be rock stars together. The drummer "The Rev" passed away in 2010. Thats who they are singing about, the pics and video clips towards the end are the drummer.

Old footage about the drummer and in the current scene you hear drums, but there is no drummer around. But I skipped through the video, so maybe I missed the point where you realized it.

This song was for the Rev who was a founding member of the band who died in Dec 2009, they’d been friends since childhood, he’s the one who was in all the pictures later in the video. Anyway they are a great band you should definitely check out some other stuff from them, it’s alot heavier tho because they’re a metal band and so far away is much softer than most their stuff. nice reaction
