Hi buddy very true and every plasterer would have had their own corbels and roses ect love working in an old street where they are are different so you could tell who was plastering in where haha I do a agree it is some what dyeing some people don't like it most builders don't want it as it will cost more but i could see it making a come back as loads of things do come back into style ... I for sure will have some in our new build :) Thanks for watching and commenting mate

I wounder how the Victorians and Edwardians attached their old ornate cornices to the ceilings 🤔 i doubt it was coving adhesive and a couple of nails. Is it attached to the lathes or the plaster or to the joists.
What would be the best way taking down the plaster so as not to damage it. A multi tool round the edges first then hit the plaster with a hammer to loosen it. Would cutting through the lathes make the cornice just fall off.

This is pretty much the way they did it but over the laths then plastered to walls and ceilings...... I have took a few down in my time most times with a sharp knife and i tend to leave the laths on as taking and cutting at them can make the cornice drop all this been said it can drop all the same unfortunately .. and again some don't want it put back up as it dose cost a fair penny to re make .. if enough room you could just re board over with the thinnest boards you can get your hands on ... most ceilings have a good depth with there browning coat and skim where when you board and skim its not much thicker ... here is a perfect example only on a wall = ua-cam.com/video/vlYYVOGZ0E4/v-deo.html
