This version of "Liquore Store Music" is in many ways an anticipation of "Cigar on my Windshield" and "The Gas Station Instrumental Variations". Both appear on the LP "Gas Station" in 1979. Signer composes and arranges the instrumental movements in the course of 1977; they are rehearsed on 27 November 1977 at the first rehearsal with the "Red Devil Band". LSM probably remains in the repertoire of the "Red Devil Band" until the end of 1978. Other extended arrangements of LSM are performed between March and June with "Infra Steff's Devil Band/Tico-Tico Strings plus The Mouldy Figs Brass Section" and "Infra Steff's Hot Summer Revue".
"Liquore Store Music" has the character of a medley and is made up of a series of different motives from individual short compositions or pieces that were never written to completion. In principle, there is a specially created arrangement of "Liquore Store Music" for each of the formations listed, due to the diversity of the line-ups and the current use of the compositions. The limits of the recording studio are often reached due to the many successive overdubs. Three-part mandolin or acoustic guitar movements or the clarinet or saxophone movements, also in several movements, all played by Alan Solomon, bring the sound engineer many an extra night shift...
Die vorliegende Version von "Liquore Store Music" ist in vielerlei Hinsicht bereits eine Vorwegnahme von "Cigar on my Windshield" und "The Gas Station Instrumental Variations". Beide erscheinen 1979 auf der LP "Gas Station". Die instrumentalen Sätze komponiert und arrangiert Signer im Verlauf des Jahres 1977; sie werden am 27. November 1977 bei der ersten Probe mit der "Red Devil Band" einstudiert. LSM bleibt wahrscheinlich bis Ende 1978 im Repertoire der "Red Devil Band". Andere erweiterte Arrangements von LSM kommen zwischen März und Juni mit "Infra Steff's Devil Band/Tico-Tico Strings plus The Mouldy Figs Brass Section" und "Infra Steff's Hot Summer Revue" zur Aufführung.
"Liquore Store Music" hat Medley-Charakter, setzt sich aus einer Aneinanderreihung verschiedener Motive einzelner Kurzkompositionen oder nie zu Ende geschriebenen Stücken zusammen. Prinzipiell gibt es zu jeder der aufgezählten Formationen ein speziell angefertigtes Arrangement von "Liquore Store Music", dies aufgrund der Verschiedenartigkeit der Besetzungen und dem aktuellen Gebrauch der Kompositionen. Oft werden die Grenzen des Aufnahme-Studios aufgrund der vielen aufeinanderfolgenden Überspielungen erreicht. Dreistimmige Mandolinen- oder akustische Gitarrensätze oder die ebenfalls mehrsätzigen Klarinetten- oder Saxophonsätze, alle von Alan Solomon gespielt, bringen dem Sound-Engineer manch zusätzliche Nachtschicht ein...
