Love the boat tours. I'd say you are appealing to a demographic very well, with budget/bargain boats and fixer uppers, and the occasional brand new boat tour. Keep up the good work.
I'm not in the market for a boat right now. Have to finish the cabin first, and then maybe my book will start selling. Wanting to keep the dream alive I enjoy seeing what is available that might need "a little work". I do realize that there is no such thing on a boat. There is something special about a boat with sails and being able to master that kind of relationship with nature, the ever changing wind.
Great idea, showing these boats. Shannon is a top quality boat. I have a Shannon built boat from 1986 and the build quality, including materials, really holds up to time and style.
I'm very blown away on how beautiful she is! She looks very unique... One of a kind for sure!... The boat was nice too tho! ;) lol For real tho, I really liked how it is laid out how the rear cabin is separate like that. It looks like it would be a nice live a board for a family so people don't feel like they're stuck in one little space without a way to get away and have some alone time. keep this videos coming... I like them a lot!
@@LearningtheLines If I was to ever get a sail boat i think a center cockpit is a must. I feel like if theirs ever a chance for me and my family to cruise I would have to keep them dry and safe at the helm or else they would want to call it quits pretty quick. I would need a Delos! ;)
Start by contacting your local yacht club. Usually they have regular races and they invite people with no experience to crew. It's a great way to learn to sail and see if sailing is right for you.
Great tour, love the boat! Shannon's were well-built boats and this one has been loved over the years. She's screaming for a modern carbon fiber mast and Shaefer boom furler for easy sail handling. Keep 'em coming!!!
You guys could be the "Doug DeMuro" of different sailing boats on the market....Unlimited content, unlimited potential....Subbed, and always a thumbs up!
Interesting boat, love that layout. Looks like good work being done to bring her up to scratch. Nice tour and enjoying them as boats I would not see in the UK generally. Andy UK
Thought the asking price was a bit steep, given how old the boat is, but then you see the wow factor down below. Can easily imagine that boat blue water sailing :)
@@LearningtheLines lol don't tempt me! Unfortunately I have two exploded discs in my back and I'm several time zones away. But when I have my fitness back and am relatively pain free, I'll definitely be in the market :)
@@Mike7O7O hey I hear you on the exploded discs. I finally had fusion on mine after trying everything else. I wish I'd done the surgery two years earlier.
Probably. I'd most likely try to find a mizzen and main secondhand somewhere, but I'd do brand new standing rigging. Just that alone will be expensive for a large ketch like this.
Y’all should start another channel for this segment of boat tours. Charge the owners a percentage if you can sell them through your contacts. Show boats for sale in different ports of calls once you start cruising again. Totally serious. Great vid as always. Show us some midsize sailboats which could be potential deals for people in the market to purchase. Fair winds!
I want to keep doing these tours, but on another channel the videos won't get the same amount of views. Since our audience seems to prefer these types of videos we'll keep doing them a couple times a month. I'll keep in mind some more moderate sized boats for the future!
While youre building up the sailing fund touring damaged and not so damaged boats is a great change of pace. Plus something might fall in your lap that you can't pass up!
Hi Mich! A Shannon is a great boat with some unusual features, forgot to mention the near useless center cockpit! I never owned a Beneteau but I do know several people who sails them, the 50, 51, ..., and who sailed in Australia, N Z, Tasmania, places which are certainly different than the Adriatic or Aegean Sea. Look at the Amel boats and you will find a « ready -to-sail » for 150 grands without a burden to search a yard, a mast, a rigging and all so many things this boat of 119.000 needs before taking to sea.
A dog house is not an aft cabin, although it usually leads in it. A doghouse is more of a permanent spray dodger, usually constructed of the same material as the hull.
Great boat, looks nice and I am really impressed of the engine room. Great access. Unfortunately I can't afford it. Thank you very much for your informative and sympathetic videos. Greetings from Germany.
Nice craft, even with the problems you mentioned! Good to see y'all again! Take us along on a large sailing vessel if you can arrange it... You know, a pirate ship or the like! ;P
Hi guys ! Really enjoying your videos . Once in a while do a power boat live aboard . Just for a comparison. Either way I’m enjoying them . Thanks . From your Canadian friends...
Excellent tour of a great boat. Only thing better would be seeing it underway but obviously without sails not happening. Seems like a very well kept boat.
Always great videos. It use to be so nice to see you list the asking price of these boats. Maybe you can't always do that for one reason or another, but when you do it sure is appreciated. Again always great videos. Keep up the good work.
Bristol RI is right next to where I found my dream house in Portsmouth RI and right down the street from Newport RI; "The Newport Regadda". Lol that whole area is high-level craftsmanship for boats and houses. That notched door at the stairs was amazing lol
wow! The craftsmanship is amazing. Love seeing different interiors. Never appreciated that a built in AC would be so nice, but makes sense on keeping mold down and making it comfortable to live aboard in the tropics. Keep it coming! Are you guys getting commission? You should. Great walk through.
I love these boat tours. This was a great looking boat, especially the layout with the cabin act. The hard top looks like it's ready for solar panels. Bet she looks fantastic with her mast, wonder how small a crew could be to operate her, could one person handle her at a time? Looked like a huge engine room, is she a motor sailed? Wonderful channel and thanks for the tours, keep up the great work and be safe.
Maybe something more like all cruisers or so in 25 to 35 foot range. And your both looking awesome even with the lucius locks removed Hugs guys deep harbours and following winds folks
Great video. Guys, there are several sailing channels with young couples fitting up a boat and go cruising. They all turn to imature holida y kids once they make it to South. I am glad that you remained two feet on the ground even after your boat came together.
Go see a Mason 44 if you can find one for sale in Florida. You'll enjoy that aft cabin as well and they are gorgeous boats. The 44 saw some incremental improvements over the 43 which was designed by Al Mason. Beautiful boats!
Another cool boat tour. This is a really nice fixer upper. With the masts and running gear replaced you could be sailing with very little work required on the interior and what appears to be minimal structural work on the exterior and interiors. Someone will get a good deal on this. Thanks guys. Next tour how about a Westsail 32 or a Cape Dory 32 (?).?
I would like to see an Amel in category of dirt cheap. I know there really is no such thing but it seems like a task that you could complete, thanks Steve Bailey
Great lay out and the engine room is the way to go as able to work on equipment easily. As a solo sailor it is too large. I am finalizing the purchase of a Pacific Seacraft 40 that has many updates to make current. Spendy but things that needed to be done. Sure enjoy the boat tours.
I am sure the current owner would have a recent estimate to completely re-rig the boat (masts, booms, sails, standing and running rigging, stanchions, lifelines, etc). The rest of the boat looks in great shape. Very unique cabin layout would be great for skippered charters too. And best of all 'MADE IN USA'!
Great videos - you pointed out hurricane damage at the side before you boarded and am wondering if there were "soft" spots or cracks which would require repairs?
There have been a lot of badass boats built in little rhody. Home of the americas cup! I grew up there. I know this may be blasphemous, but I'm actually a power yacht guy. Can you do a tour of a nice power cabin cruiser for me? Peace and love you guys!
That is a very well built boat. I recall a friend telling me that installing a bow thruster was pure hell because the hull thickness in the Shannon 50 was 3 inches thick. I am wondering if the $119k price comes without two masts? I think that boat is a staysail ketch. Did I miss something about the masts? The subtitles missed a lot, so anyone know? Keep up the great work and the boat tours coming! I have been watching you both since the beginning and appreciate how both of you have grown with experiences and life challenges. I'm hoping that I will have the opportunity very soon once my youngest graduates from college next year. Again Thank You
Are you guys boat brokers now or are you still running a DIY sailing channel? I'd really like to see you get back to your older format. Not that these boats aren't interesting, but I follow your channel specifically because I could never afford a boat like a Shannon 50 and have to rebuild and re-fit an older boat. So I learn a lot and get ideas from watching your videos. Still enjoy these, but it's not really what I was looking for. Thanks guys.
Great video. Keep the boat tours coming, really enjoy them.
Will do, thanks!
This Shannon is gorgeous, loving that partition in the rear suite! Nice layout and the craftsmanship is tip top. She’s a doll.
Impressive layout !
As both of you mentioned, lots of privacy, if required or desired !
Thanks for sharing the walk through !
These boat tours are a lot fun!

What a stunner of a boat , pure craftsmanship thoughout
Again, Really helpful video! Learning much from the boat tours. So a big lesson I learned is, to look for budget boats after a severe storm/hurricane.

This boat is gorgeous! Love that you're exploring boats and taking us along for the ride. The name I've always head for the after cabin is "doghouse."
