    I'm going to say this. I have many chess books, including Silmans Complete Endgame Course from Beginner to Master, and he expounds on these positions in great detail. It's easier watching him teach than it is trying to learn it from a book by yourself. This is the most instructive teaching you're gonna find and I can't believe that #1, you have all these videos and, #2, you're giving this information away for free. I don't think people realize what's going on here.

    The term "Lucena position" in chess is named after the Spanish chess player Juan José Lucena (often referred to simply as "Lucena"), who is credited with discovering or formalizing the concept in the 15th century. Lucena was an important figure in early chess literature, and his contributions helped shape the modern understanding of chess endgames.

    23:47 epic blunder because 1. Kd7 - Rh7+ wins for black. Instead 1. Ra8+ - Kg7 2.Kd7 is the right move order

    Having just watched the Blitz tournament I don't understand why you wouldn't just offer a draw at the first chance.

    3:50 but if two GMs have that exact position, they won't be able to gain the opposition because both of them know about opposition so they will just shake hands and agree to a draw, yes?

    • @hypercubemaster2729
      @hypercubemaster2729 4 дні тому

      Why would they do that? White has a guaranteed way to gain opposition and win via the triangulation concept...

    But at 5:36 mark black can push that pawn once again forcing white king to move one space back to capture it, then black king can move towards white pawns on E4 and achieve opposition.

    • @ChessGMs
      @ChessGMs  День тому

      It the same even if black push e7.. Kxe7.. Black king go e5 and white king e3 wins taking triangulation advantage
