I watch your channel and Saskias in California and what a blessing you both are for these piggies. So gentle and sweet. Makes me want one. But I rescued stray cats. I have 7 and rescued dogs too..but only have 4 left. I'm just an animal advocate. Love what you do. ❤

She's so cute. Aww. Mine rarely needs her ears cleaned but I always check them when I trim her nails. Her ears are very ticklish and she shakes at the slightest touch but she absolutely loves it when I rub the very firmly. I put my fingertip in the opening and just massage the ear and she leans into it, closes her eyes and coos. I know the feeling, like when you clean your own ears and you hit that one spot, it's almost euphoric. I think that's how it feels for her because she loves it

I have just started fostering a baby piggie called Daisy she has deformed front legs, instead of walking on the pads of her feet they are twisted over and she walks on the top of her feet. The vet has seen her there is nothing to be done we just hope she can make some hard skin in that area if not she will have to be put to sleep😢💕x
Do a lot of piglets try to bite whilst your cleaning their ears? Your hand is right over their face and as this lil miss is , some don’t like having it done. I had some Guinea pigs when I was 20 and was never ever told any thing about health treatments, ear cleaning and alll the things I see online about them nowadays. It’s just wasn’t told by sellers or stores. I have ear cleaning obsession and it’s usually;lay humans being done by audiologist but it’s spread to animals now…lol Keep being gentle and caring for the lovely lil guys xxx Lisa
It really depends on the piggie and their learned experiences. In this case she had a very sore ear and they had never been cleaned. So her natural reaction is to want to get away but second time doing this with her would not have the current discomfort and she would have learnt that she survived and was well tended, so not as fearful.

What about rubbing alcohol in the ears. I don't know if it safe to clean their ears with rubbing alcohol? I just ask because when I get an ear infection I use rubbing alcohol, but I also realize that what is safe for me may not be for my pigs.
I was wondering what she used to loosen up the ear wax/dirt. What is Malaseb shampoo? Or an equivalent? Thank you so much. It’s time for my two boys to get the spa treatment !

No that is very dangerous and not for internal use which the ear leads into the canal. Far too dangerous.

I used to use mineral oil. Now I use a q tip dipped in plain water. Lynn used a bit of Malaseb shampoo in the water.

Would it be ok to use a tiny bit of Head and Shoulders shampoo in water to clean out their ears?
No this is only for external use.
