It's weird to see you actually biking through Grand Theft Auto sets, and actually recognize the locations lol. Thanks for this review. I've been considering getting an eBike. My broken old knees would need some help these days, so this review was awesome. It not only showed off the bike, but so many things I hadn't thought to think about. Thanks for posting. Feeling a bit more excited about the idea now.
@@TailHappyTV Cheers THTV! I know a lot about bicycles and very little about electronics. I can tell you that this bike would be easy to fix and keep running well. The Bafang electronics are a well known quantity and there's a wealth of knowledge out there about them. The first mod I'd make is 26x3" slicks.
I've been wanting an ebike and never took the time to research them. There are too many options out there, but you gave me a starting point. Thank you for this review.
Before you buy make damn sure you can ride them in your city or town. My town just banned them ! I’ve had e-bikes since 2021. First was a Aventon Aventure and my second bike was is the Philodo H8 which I just purchased a few weeks ago. Now I can only ride it on our farm 140 miles away which is useless for me now. I ride these as my MAIN means of transportation to grocery stores and medical facilities but now I’m going to HAVe to get a license and a motorcycle or car. Just be SURE you are able to ride in your town. We had just had trails built for pedestrians and bicycles 3 year ago to that raised my taxes a lot but I’m unable to use those as well. No e-bike’s of any class allowed on those trails was just implemented last month!! Sickens me.
@@Freebird_67 how can a city be more restrictive then the county or state or country? How can they legally ban you from riding an e-bike? What's city and state are you in? That's ridiculous are they going to band electric cars then?
If this is a review sample sent to you it may have been upgraded to something someone wouldn't normally get for the price for added impression. This is why a lot of product reviewers resorted to ordering and paying for what they want to review in a way it couldn't be known it's being sent to them.
If this bike was sent to him that is a major conflict of interest! He's obviously, in my opinion, probably already received or will get a financial benefit if buyers use his link. Maybe that explains his incessant oohing and ahhing about the rotor.
I’ve had the explorer for about 3 months…I commute 35 miles errryday….with massive climbing….I have over 1200 miles on it so far…….NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER! I love this bike!!!!!!!🤘🤘👑
I bought a Schwinn Class 1 last year and now that I have the extra battery it is an awesome bike. Gives you assist does not peddle for you. Was like 1200. You do not need to pay 3500 for an EBike unless you want to.
of course not but you get what you pay for. class 1 can only go so fast and some people want speed on throttle. thats why some people drive a Prius and some have Mustangs
Quick word of advice, next time you face those plastic bands around a box or package find the connection point flip it inside out and then just pull the tab. 9x10 times it will release with out beating it with a hammer or digging for those shears.
Even though the torque isn't brilliant, I would help it up hills it wouldn't take much leg work, plus it puts less wear and tear on the motor and saves battery power 😊
Thanks for all your review vids. They helped me pick this bike. Wanted the blue step-over but not in stock for another month, so got this red version. And thanks for the special code! Now the wait begins.
I've seen all kinds of crazy prices on bikes... And I've seen them drop them by 500.00 and give you free shipping so you know it's a scam..... Best thing is know what you got.... What kind of battery they gave you what kind of hub motor they gave you..... The market is so satu rated with bikes..... I think hiland bike company makes almost everybody's bike... The frames for sure
That's a really good spec for the price, especially with your discount! 😊 I recently upgraded my Ride1Up Core-5 single-piston mechanical Tektro brakes to 4-piston Tektro Dorado hydraulics with 203mm front and 180mm rear rotors. Now, I can bring the bike to a controlled stop with very little pressure. 😊
@TailHappyTV A gentle squeeze is all it takes to slow down. I haven't tried a high-speed, fast stop yet as I've been bedding the brakes in residential areas.
I Like my 2020 Rad Rover ST1 for $1400 I now have over 12000 miles on it problem free other than one set of brakes tires and one chain .All off road mountain trail riding . The Battery is a Samsung 14 Amp 48 volt . Top speed on it is 24 mph Battery life riding hard and fast is around 45 miles
I was excited to see this review, especially at the lower price. When I went to the website, they are now back at retail for $2,299.00... looks like I'll be waiting for another sale to happen.
they will be putting it on sale again soon I'm sure, aint nobody buying that bike at that price. will be posting my fav fat ebike for the price that actually runs a good price 24/7 soon (battery is smaller than this bike, but way faster)
Agreed..... I was thinking about buying one at the sale price. Unfortunately, I wouldn't buy one EVER at the current price on principle. Now they are just trying to stick it to me.
I’m with you mate. Was pretty shocked to see a $2400 price lol. I hate when manufacturers play games with high prices and then run various sales just hoping to catch suckers buying at cost, or 10% off, but then in a month there’s a 40% sale. It leaves a bad taste. I’d rather just get the Aventon Venture 2 with torque sensor for less.
I don’t know if you’ve got to it yet and I’m only 3/4 of the way through the video, but on the little control press and hold the centre and you should have three levels of power, it comes with economy, then goes up to standard, and then goes up to sport, in standard in sport on level five you will make that easy
One thing I see missing from virtually every ebike review is VERIFICATION that the battery does indeed provide the Ah capacity it claims to provide...in this case, 20Ah. This can be a problem as I have found a LOT of Ah claims that are quite a bit higher than reality (for example, an ebike battery claiming 10Ah actually delivering only 8Ah when properly tested. That's a 20% reduction from the claimed 10Ah. One needs an Electronic Constant Load Tester (from about US$25 to US$100 for units sufficiently accurate for these purposes) and the industry standard for lithium-ion cells is to test at 0.2C discharge (that's 0.2 x the claimed "C"apacity) or in this case, you would set the test load to (0.2 x 20 = 4) 4.0 Amps and see if you do in fact get 20Ah capacity out of the battery pack. The testing starts at the fully charged voltage of the battery pack, and continues at a constant 0.2C amps until the battery voltage reaches the lowest safe performing voltage for the battery pack. For standard Li-ion cell battery packs, this is usually either provided in the operating manual (for example, a "36.0V" ebike might be programmed to shutdown the ebike when the voltage drops below 30.0V. If one wants the most accurate reading, one sets the lower voltage based on the actual manufacturer specification of the lithium cells used in the pack...but these specs can be hard to come by. Many modern lithium cells can be run below the cutoff value defined by the ebike controller, but if one wants "real" data for a particular ebike/battery pack pairing, then one would consider using what the ebike controller sets as the real-world cutoff voltage. The way some companies try to claim higher than actual Ah battery capacities, is to test the battery at much lower than industry standard discharge rates. For example, instead of testing a 20Ah battery at 4.0 Amps, an arbitrary company might instead test the battery at 2 Amps, or even 1 Amp discharge...Testing at lower discharge amps provides a highly deceptive and synthetically elevated Ah result which is then used in the marketing materials. Only testing can verify the actual Ah performance of a battery pack, and I never believe the marketing Ah claims without verification.
@@TailHappyTV Unfortunately, it's not as reliable a test as it was at first. Fraudulent companies can just add ballast like sand to the cell to make it appear to weigh as much as it should. I've had a number of them that contained bits of metal; washers, flat plates, etc. Either real-world use or electronic testing are the only solid ways to test them. There are "comprehensive" testers available for anywhere about US$50-$150 that test capacity, internal resistance, and so on. LiitoKala (weird spelling) makes some ok ones that are very easy to use but limited to certain cell shapes/sizes. Some people recommend a different brandname tester, but I haven't tried that one. Look at the youtube reviews on at least several different kinds to get a feel for what they can and CAN'T do. For general purpose testing of lithium AND many other types of batteries/cells, one can use an electronic constant load tester, but you need to know more about what and how to test, safety, and hooking up the cells for testing. The cheap ones also cost $50-$150 or so. You can ID them as they don't have a case and the cooling fan is exposed. I got one that could test batteries up to 200VDC and dissipate up to 200W for well under $100 at the time. I could easily test a 72V ebike battery using this tester. Here's an example of one of this type...a 200V/150W unit. Currently on Amazon for US$60 top-tool-Adjustable-Electronic-Intelligent-Resistance/dp/B076RDSMD3 Here's another one on Amazon, B07KF1LLZD for US$73, but it also includes a power supply and some leads (the B076RDSMD3 apparently does not). This one is also a different configuration (one I like better as a good radiator with heat pipes *should* do better at keeping cooler the MOSFET...a critical part of the tester that can heat up a LOT during testing)
@@TailHappyTV some automotive service shops or battery shops may have a carbon pile tester. This applies a load within the battery capability and measures the delivered voltage at the load. The load is continued until the voltage drops below a certain point. At that point, you know if the batteries meet the claimed capacity.
I got my wife a 350W 36V E-bike last year. This year I got a 500W 48V E-bike both are from HeyBike. They were both around $800 each. And both have been great. My wife’s has 100 miles and has been flawless. No need to spend over $1000
Just received my Troxus Explorer last night. Bought it just before the sale ended. It came with the 180mm brakes! So it’s pretty likely they upgraded for the reviewer. Everything else looks completely legit though.
dang, im sorry. 180 is honestly perfect, 203 was a nice bonus but really not necessary unless you're doing some extreme braking and long descents. hope you love it!
Thanks for the review. The two Questions I want to know you did not ask. 1. How much does the replacement battery cost? 2. When Riding long distances till the battery dies what is the range in the city?, and riding country roads? have fun!
I'd guess 3-400$ for battery, not sure. city range depends on speed big time, you could do 40-70 miles depending how much help you give it and how hard you push it
Great video! I was ready to buy one at the advertised price, but I guess your video helped them make enough sales to justify raising the price by $400 so I'm going to wait.
I skeptical about these bikes now. I have two Cyrushers XF-800 and XF-900. These are Cyrusher's top of the line $2900. In both bikes I had rear frame snap clean three times--each time a $150 replacement part with $100 labor to replace. Both front forks seized completely after a year. The rear suspension in both bikes lost their bouncy action. pins snapped off. Hub motors in both bikes spun off the frame. I mean--nothing but problems with these $2900 bikes. So this bike you're featuring looks great and the price is very attractive, but how will it be after a year or two? PS: I'm riding in Manhattan with the occasional venturing out to the outer boroughs.
@bazzarr I see similarly built bikes with a max load over 400 pounds.... there are so many start-ups selling ebikes, I see many horror stories about how they make cheap stuff and don't stand behind it or close their doors. It's all new and wild, so I'm not surprised most of them are junk.
too bad they didn't have something like this in my younger years... would definitely try to get this one!!!!! Thank you for the guide on the bike paths!!!!!
My dad is 74 and rides daily. He used to mountain bike so we do a lot of trails. If they had had these when I was a teenager I don’t know if I ever would have bought a car! Lol
Dude, the simple way to open those straps is to grab the end of one of then and pull it towards the connected spot. Don't fat tires have a lot more resistance than other tires? That seems to defeat the purpose of an electric bike. I realize it's better for off road, but if you are going off road, my guess is there are better options.
Got Aventon Ad. Good bike $3,000 Cad. 14 ah 48v --155pound rider 40 mile range. never gone more than 33 miles at one time. all good. down side no rear suspension. FUN
Truly makes me reconsider whether I want the Biktrix Juggernaut Duo, Biktrix XD, the Lectric XPremium, or even the BAKCOU Timberland scooter. My head is in the clouds - the reality is that I can’t really afford the residence there.
I see a lot of awesome e-bikes reviews, want to see a review on the best all around e-bike with good serviceable bike parts in USA as well as best customer service now that would be a good review on what happens with it breaks down
I like a job you have done but just one question. Is "STOP" sign not applicable for bikes in US ? Just to be aware as many people get in trouble for missing details as being publicly share . Have a nice day.
I mean use your brain. I generally stop when there is lots of traffic. Last week I was riding up a hill approaching a 4 way so I back off speed to allow the pickup truck that is in the opposing lane to make his left at the stop. He kept waiting and waiting. I was still a good 10 seconds from the stop he could have cleared the intersection, so I went through not stopping because I didnt want to lose my momentum. I waive to him in gratitude thinking he was one of those polite drivers allowing me to go through. Happens all the time. As I go through he proceeds to make his left and then lays on the horn. I dont get road rage, and I drive a pickup too, but that man deserved to get his ass beaten!
Looks like the same frame as the Aventon Aventure....even has the same rear lights..like you mentioned, these are great components for the current price. If the price goes back to retail, the value not as good as other popular fat tire ebikes and I also wonder about the service.
That is actually the unnamed bike that I was referencing in comparison to this one couple times in the video, and I agree with your assessment on price sir. I should probably start a service shop here, pretty much all these bikes have very similar interchangeable components that could easily be swapped out if something went wrong down the road.
Exactly the same bike as the Aventure by specs and performance. The only difference I see is the overprice of the Troxus. If Troxus sold for $1000 less it would be a serious competitor.
I passed a dude on an e-bike pulling a short trailer with a German Shepard plus other cargo. He was getting along so well up the hills I became curious and ended up here.
Love your reviews, its honest, technical and so much knowledge, This bike looks very appropriate for what I want to do except the Hub motor.. what mid drive motor fat ebike can be comparable ?
The more I get around by bike the more I appreciate paths that are for bikes and pedestrians. It makes more sense to me to post a speed limit than be pedestrian only. Except if it's just too dangerous for small children or mobility impaired who would reasonably be there.
Dude speed limit on Greenways/shared pedestrian paths would be perfect. Sidestep the loopholes and "definitions", just post speed limit and it wouldn't matter what class or mods or scooter vs euc vs bike etc.
20:20 do any of these bikes use Regen? Seems that would be able to eliminate all the worry about brake fade on long descents as that could slow the bike down to a crawl on any downhill if programmed for max rate. Unless the battery is too full to accept charge anyway.
One thing I've had to do with EVERY e-bike I've ever owned or have rigged-up for family member, is to change out the "minimalist" thing they laughingly call a headlight. I buy a different one with serious illumination and is powered by the ebike's battery pack. With the factory provided 1/2 Watt headlights on many ebikes, you can't see more than about 10 feet of the street late at night. By changing it for a quality $20 LED light you see much farther and your night ride is much safer. Unfortunately, not all ebike headlight wiring can even handle the power of an 18-22 Watt LED light and so one must know what one is doing when modifying the lighting system as you may also have to modify the wiring and even the switch. If a display computer head is used to switch the headlight on/off, one also has to ensure that it can also handle the current as they rely on the provided headlight consuming so little power they use cheap components and can get away with it. Changing out the light changes things...sometimes a lot. It's why the manufacturer should design for and provide a quality light to begin with. An alternative to a bike-powered light, is to buy a totally separate handlebar mounted headlight that comes with its own wiring and separate battery. Unfortunately again, many of the ones marketed on the internet are also weak with overinflated claims of "10,000 lumens" and such, and the batteries provided are often garbage when it comes to quality and true Ah rating. I've also examined these secondary headlights for their water resistance, and even when they claim an IPx6 rating, there are HOLES in the headlight case that allow rain inside, so even the IP rating is fraudulent. I realize this bit on ebike headlights and lighting seems all negative, but it's simply to let you know there are some pitfalls ahead when you start out no matter which ebike you start with. It's a real shame when you buy a $1000 ebike only to find out the manufacturer chose to install the cheapest $1 wholesale cost (literally) headlight they could find to put on the ebike, when adding $8-$12 to the BMC would have made a major difference to customer night riding comfort and safety.
that’s a decent price for what you get. nice welds on frame, looks sturdy. Bafang 750 watt geared hub motor is not as good as a mid drive, but one of the better geared hub motors. Good quality acera shifters! Heavier bike, but not noticable with a larger battery….unless you’re packing it up stairs. I’d want some larger, better quality platform pedals….good review! thx.
@@Charlemagne1367 I’ve stripped off gear teeth from geared hub motors on steep terrain. geared hub motors aren’t any more reliable than mid drives are. Gearless hub motors are more reliable, but way heavier.. flat out, smooth terrain, i’ll pick a gearless hub motor. Gnarley steep terrain, I’ll grab the mid drive everytime.
mid drive is overrated tbh. for just slightly more torque you have to deal with more maintenance and gear train wear and tear. this bike has great specs but the battery is just small. 30-60mi range is meh
@@mikec4308 Depends on the terrain you are traversing. No pavement at the farm, and some very steep hills surround the valley…I built a tractor/bike with a hubmotor mounted midframe. drives a jackshaft with a 5/1 gear reduction to a large sprocket on the rear wheel, for a total of 12/1 reduction. 26”fat tires. Only goes 5 mph at 48 volts, but climbs any hill, and doubles to pull trees to the woodpile. Use it alot for pulling around a gang mower, to keep the grass mowed down. 🤣
Personally for that I'd go for an Aventon Adventure 2. It's the same price but has a torque sensor where this Troxus doesn't. Though I do really like it. Without a torque sensor it's basically an Aventon Adventure 1. Which still is great. It was the second ebike I bought and still have and still ride when I want a chill comfy ride(I put an extra suspension seat post and a nice comfy saddle and it's insanely comfy to ride. Which I bet this Troxus would be a nice ride as well.
It's funny that you mentioned the Aventon Aventure 2. I was interested in the Troxus, but I missed out on the sale. So after several days of watching UA-cam videos,I ended up ordering an Aventon Aventure 2 yesterday from a local dealer. He's going to set it up,and fine tune it for me when it comes in. I'm paying the same amount I would have paid ordering it online, plus I'm getting it set up by a professional. I like the fact that I'll have a bike shop that works on Aventon e bikes for when I have a problem down the road .
Question regarding the torque sensor you mentioned: Does this sense the torque that the rider applies to the pedals? If so, then how would the Troxus be able to apply power commensurate to the rider's desires WITHOUT a torque sensor? I rode a friend's e-bike some time ago and my biggest complaint was that the power it applied was not linear to the amount of effort I put into the pedals. Maybe I'd learn to adjust to it, but I would prefer an intuitive power assist instead of one that surges.
@@TailHappyTV Thanks for the reply. Using cadence is novel, and while the Troxus sounds like a bargain, the torque sensor sounds like a key item in my next purchase. An intuitive feel for applying power is important function.

Here's a direct link to the bike: velotricbike.info/3mOCqKO - Save $60 with code TailHappyNomad60 For the Troxus ebike, please note the hydraulic brakes are listed as 180mm rotors on the website, which I do regard as the gold standard for a 84lb bike. Do not expect to receive 203mm rotors. Troxus did not ship me a special bike, some bikes shipped with 203mm and some with 180mm rotors. You will experience no meaningful difference in everyday riding on this minimal rotor size difference, it's mostly beneficial for heat dissipation on long descents from a steep mountain or repeated heavy braking from high speeds. 180mm Tektro hydraulic disc brakes are perfect for this bike and still above average compared to what competitors are offering.
Do you feel the 22amp controller is enough? I see a juiced brand bike on sale for less, 52amp controller for more power delivery for the 750 motor. Not sure on Juiced's battery size.
thanks for this review and discount. funny - you riding in the street in marina del rey was what kept me watching as I have rode in that area! I ordered one!
Wow! I like it thanks for posting. Looks great, performs good and great brakes and price. I’m still rocking my original xp and always wanted to try the 26 inch wheel ebike. Pas 3 is perfect for me.
Just brought a basic E-Cycle last month . With 250 watt bldc hub motor and 7.5 ah battery . Costing around 350$ . And for this bike it's comparatively much cheaper compared with other brands . I had been in Florida for around 1 year and also in Spain for 2 weeks last year . European market is fully dominating by Chinese E-Cycles and american E-Cycles is way much expensive . But this one is really have good pricing with some great feature but still if I comparing with my country we have the cheapest E-Cycle market here 🙏
Sounds like a pretty good deal! I've been riding my Nakto Camel F -- a Chinese commuter "cargo" bike with a 250-watt motor and 10.x ah 36-volt battery -- for about three years. It cost $650 on sale. I'm here because the battery is starting to go and instead of spending $300 on a new battery I'm thinking about splitting for a newer, better bike. Maybe even the one reviewed!
@@arnabmitra4348 I don't find that surprising -- but do they export to the US at a good price? I bought the Chinese bike because I was looking for the cheapest option. My next bike will be a better one.
I hope more people will start to use these bikes rather than take their car to go everywhere. It's cheaper than using a car, more energy friendly, more convenient if you have very little to carry with you (like the daily groceries for a couple), has a decent range, and people need to exercise a little more, even if it's not a big exercise.
@@justme-yj3bu wow great reply, honey. Impressed that you made the effort to move your little fat fingers on the keyboard to craft such an insightful comment.
All good. I like it a lot. The only thing I do not like is the geared motor. A direct hub motor, which is what I use (1200 Watts), is better in my opinion. You know, less noise and longer life.
dont have a bike, though I usedta ride a real bike decades ago, really havent seen any reason to like or be interested in these battery-bikes. Havent watched any bike video before, dont know why this vid caught my attention ... but I am swayed and curious. $1300 may e a great deal but is scary to me but thinking about it. Ive certainly not been enthusiastic or taken by Ross Mt ST Hood out in eons but your presentation was enthusiastic great and contagious. ... I have seen the hauler bikes and perhaps youve caused me to be more interested. Great work. New fan. Old-angry-guy...out
Riders like you give all of us riders a bad name: you lane split, you ride on sideWALKS, you don’t stop for all stop signs, you ride overly fast on shared walk/ride lanes and you don’t wear a helmet.
@@TailHappyTV At 6'5" you are not going to like riding the Lynx. At 5'7" it is perfect for me. The Lynx is a slightly better hill climber but you give up a couple mph on the top end. The Lynx has mechanic brakes compared to the hydraulic of the Explorer. So I would rate the braking as adequate. Otherwise the fit, finish, and quality is the same. I just saved you all the work of filming and editing a video. You are welcome.
I ❤ your reviews! This is a very good starter bike for newbies getting into ebiking. But for experience power riders, I think they would be terribly disappointed. The added bonus is the range and price benefits..
@@TailHappyTV I'm considering an E-bike, but I wanted a folder. I'm also an old guy, but never had anything but coaster brakes---no gears. My vehicles are 5-speed manual, but IDK how that would apply to a bike.
@@elultimo102 nice, I drive a 6 speed manual car! Gears on a bike are the same as a car, instead of a clutch you just pedal less hard, rotate the pedals lightly during shift. Brakes are straight forward, hydraulic disc are best. You might like a folding bike I am going to post tomorrow
I love your reviews and will rely on them for my final purchase decision. Do you want to take it to the next level. Tell us if the brand has local dealers or distribution, does Customer Service answer the phone, and what could an owner expect for parts replacement requirements? Also is the battery mounting system proprietary or will other batteries fit in case this company goes out of business? $1,300 might seem cheap to a young working professional but it is not cheap for a retired couple that is looking at spending $2,600 for two of them. At least we want to know if we will be captive to battery pirates 3 years from now.
it all depends on how many magnets are in the cadence sensor. The cadence sensor on my Ebike has 8 magnets, making for a smooth power increase. But my Ebike uses a Direct drive, or magnetic hub motor, no gears or other moving parts. So I do not take off as fast, but I can handle a 600 pound load, and since I pull a trailer, thats a good thing. And I hope your wearing a helmet, that bike is almost scary fast.
23 mph is not scary. I've gone faster downhill on a road where I have to be on the outside of a white line. On a road with a 45 mph speed limit, I've kept up with traffic.
@@isaiahwelch8066 I take it you have good vision? My best corrected vision is 20/200, so I cant get a drivers license. A friend of mine put it this way. "He, meaning me, does not like to go any faster then he can see" And that about sums it up.
@@longrider42 : It's not that I have good sight, it's that I analyze information very fast. I have the innate ability to use my peripheral vision and be able to take information and make decisions very quickly and very accurately. That's why I can travel at high rates of speed without issue.
you bring up the 203mm rotors a lot in the video but you mentioned the website said it comes with 180mm rotors. Did they maybe put better rotors on the bike since they knew you were going to review it, or should we expect 203mm rotors if we buy the bike?
That’s an excellent question, I’ll ask them. My guess is this is what comes on all the new bike shipping out, I really don’t think they are sending special versions to anybody.
Just got mine, too. 180mm rotors. That's pretty deceiving. The caliper bracket has to also be different. It's not like they just happen to have 203mm kits just sitting around and "oops, we put better brakes on that bike".
I've got a problem with my back wheel, it's like it has a divot or a flat spot. Almost imperceptible to see but it feels like I'm driving over a fairly meaty stick with every wheel rotation. Emailed Troxus around 1pm Pacific and they didn't get back to me today, curious how they're gonna address it. Its super noticeable when riding it, I thought something was gonna break until I got it home and examined the bike more closely. Not sure if the problem is the tire or the rim, or something else. Also both my front and back breaks squeak when they're not being applied, which every reviewer has said they were pleasantly surprised wasn't an issue with these bikes. I suspect the reviewers got cherry picked units. Still not complaining for the price during the march sale, but something to be aware of
Seems like a water puddle would throw liquid onto the battery pack and allow liquid to dribble onto the exposed seam between battery and frame. Thus liquid can get inside the frame where wires and components are located. So this is one of the genuine "Fair Weather Only" designs.
I own an Aventon Level step through model and have been interested in buying the Aventure 1 as a second bike but since seeing this video just now I would buy this bike instead. The one thing that made me not as interested in the Aventure is the lower Ah battery considering it's size and weight. This is the Aventure 1 but cheaper and with a better battery so the Aventure is out of the running. I'm already used to a cadence sensor setup so having one on this bike isn't the turn off for me as it seems to be for some others.
Im amazed someone didn't knock you off your bike, not a single hand signal to let the traffic know what your intentions are when changing direction. I pity the driver that takes you out .
Don't spend a lot on a 1st ebike. Break something on one & you may wait months for a model specific part. There are plenty of inexpensive bikes that perform well & will last a long time if you take care of them. You're gonna make mistakes. Get something that's a bike 1st that happens to have a motor, something for which generic parts are available.
I have heard that the issues with purchasing the E-bikes online is that bike shops will not work on them do to the fires caused by batteries. Bike shops only service E-bikes they sell because then their insurance will cover them. So how do you get an E-bike purchased online serviced? Thank you for your time.
This would be nice if they made it in a mid drive version. After owning a mid drive for more than a year now I'll NEVER go back to hub motors. The efficiency of mid drive combined with your bikes own gearing is just too good. On a 17.5ah battery throttle only, 750w motor, 20mph, and a 9sp 11-52 cassette I typically get 60+ miles throttle only, and 150+ pedal assist. 50+ if I use my trailer, and I'm a big person at 240lbs.
I bought for 180 euro my bike, but I had to put it together by mail it came... it is great for short distances.... like going supermarket on short root....

I enjoyed the Playavista scenary too...always helps to be on location! Troxus is a name I will remember if I decide to take a closer look at e-bikes.
In some states bikes are not required to stop at stop signs, but they must yield. Therefore an empty intersection with stop signs can be ridden through without stopping.
You by far provide the best bike reviews! Thinking about moving on from my 2022 Core-5 and this might be it. Great price, fat tires and much better mileage than the Core-5. Not to mention better brakes and includes the rack and suspension fork. Wonder how it holds up after time..

I've been wanting an ebike and never took the time to research them. There are too many options out there, but you gave me a starting point. Thank you for this review.
Glad I could help!
Sickens me.

I initially came here to look for an e-bike, but the resemblance to places from GTA-5 keeps drawing me back every time. 👍🏻
Quick word of advice, next time you face those plastic bands around a box or package find the connection point flip it inside out and then just pull the tab. 9x10 times it will release with out beating it with a hammer or digging for those shears.
There's no drama in that though.
You are correct. After a decade or so tho, I just went to using scissors.
Even though the torque isn't brilliant, I would help it up hills it wouldn't take much leg work, plus it puts less wear and tear on the motor and saves battery power 😊

I was excited to see this review, especially at the lower price. When I went to the website, they are now back at retail for $2,299.00... looks like I'll be waiting for another sale to happen.
they will be putting it on sale again soon I'm sure, aint nobody buying that bike at that price. will be posting my fav fat ebike for the price that actually runs a good price 24/7 soon (battery is smaller than this bike, but way faster)
for what they want now for prices they need to add a 2nd battery and change the 750 motor for a 1000watt and maybe...

Thanks for this idea. How do you feel amount weighing a battery to verify the physical size is in line with the claim of size?
Currently on Amazon for US$60
top-tool-Adjustable-Electronic-Intelligent-Resistance/dp/B076RDSMD3
Here's another one on Amazon, B07KF1LLZD for US$73, but it also includes a power supply and some leads (the B076RDSMD3 apparently does not).

Do it sell to Sweden??
And now just 2 days later its the full $2299
May I ask, are you a big guy? Do you weigh over 250 pounds?
@bazzarr I see similarly built bikes with a max load over 400 pounds.... there are so many start-ups selling ebikes, I see many horror stories about how they make cheap stuff and don't stand behind it or close their doors. It's all new and wild, so I'm not surprised most of them are junk.

Dude, the simple way to open those straps is to grab the end of one of then and pull it towards the connected spot. Don't fat tires have a lot more resistance than other tires?

@TailHappyTV Which bike did you prefer, this or Aventon. Now the Aventon is under 1,500 these are pretty comparable.
Exactly the same bike as the Aventure by specs and performance. The only difference I see is the overprice of the Troxus. If Troxus sold for $1000 less it would be a serious competitor.

Thank you for the detailed review covering so much detail that a novice like me would not think of to consider.
Do the newest bikes come with the 203mm brake rotors over the 180mm rotors? Are there any other improvements with the later model bikes?
20:20 do any of these bikes use Regen? Seems that would be able to eliminate all the worry about brake fade on long descents as that could slow the bike down to a crawl on any downhill if programmed for max rate. Unless the battery is too full to accept charge anyway.
Idealy the motor should be at the pedal level to use the derailleur.

It's funny that you mentioned the Aventon Aventure 2. I was interested in the Troxus, but I missed out on the sale.

@@gregparrott cadence sensor is the more basic sensor on the troxus and sounds like your friends bike had the same
@@TailHappyTV Thanks for the reply. Using cadence is novel, and while the Troxus sounds like a bargain, the torque sensor sounds like a key item in my next purchase. An intuitive feel for applying power is important function.

For the Troxus ebike, please note the hydraulic brakes are listed as 180mm rotors on the website, which I do regard as the gold standard for a 84lb bike.

But this one is really have good pricing with some great feature but still if I comparing with my country we have the cheapest E-Cycle market here 🙏
wow great deal you got
@@TailHappyTV i don't know what is the reason that E-Cycles are so expensive in North America and Europe ?
Sounds like a pretty good deal! I've been riding my Nakto Camel F -- a Chinese commuter "cargo" bike with a 250-watt motor and 10.x ah 36-volt battery -- for about three years. It cost $650 on sale. I'm here because the battery is starting to go and instead of spending $300 on a new battery I'm thinking about splitting for a newer, better bike. Maybe even the one reviewed!
@@thomaslknapp Here in India our E-Cycles are better than Chinese bikes .
@@arnabmitra4348 I don't find that surprising -- but do they export to the US at a good price? I bought the Chinese bike because I was looking for the cheapest option. My next bike will be a better one.
I hope more people will start to use these bikes rather than take their car to go everywhere. It's cheaper than using a car, more energy friendly, more convenient if you have very little to carry with you (like the daily groceries for a couple), has a decent range, and people need to exercise a little more, even if it's not a big exercise.
agree! good points
whatever you say lefty
@@justme-yj3bu wow great reply, honey. Impressed that you made the effort to move your little fat fingers on the keyboard to craft such an insightful comment.
I would love to own a EBike one day I can watch your videos all day man great channel
All good. I like it a lot. The only thing I do not like is the geared motor. A direct hub motor, which is what I use (1200 Watts), is better in my opinion. You know, less noise and longer life.
great review. Nice lady on the path. Parked her arse and barked. Made her feel good. Keep on trucking
😆
Great review. Living in Europe we have to suffer ebike suppliers creaming the market, or high import duties.
Thank you
Thanks for doing these great reviews. looking to buy so your helping me out a bunch thanks again.
Great to see you safely run so many stop signs.
I could do better 🤙
thanks karen
dont have a bike, though I usedta ride a real bike decades ago, really havent seen any reason to like or be interested in these battery-bikes. Great work. New fan. Old-angry-guy...out
😆 love your comment! Acoustic bikes are fun too, e-bikes are addictive and fun in a whole different way!
Riders like you give all of us riders a bad name: you lane split, you ride on sideWALKS, you don’t stop for all stop signs, you ride overly fast on shared walk/ride lanes and you don’t wear a helmet.
I have the 20" tire version of this bike (Troxus Lynx). It is a great e-bike.
I want to review that one too
@@TailHappyTV At 6'5" you are not going to like riding the Lynx.
@@iscootct 😆 thanks for your insight!
Wow! After a month on UA-cam, the price is up to $2299. Great video but a $900 markup...not happening.
GREAT REVIEW! IM GONNA GET BACK INTO RIDING AGAIN AND PICK UP ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for watching!
I ❤ your reviews! This is a very good starter bike for newbies getting into ebiking. But for experience power riders, I think they would be terribly disappointed. The added bonus is the range and price benefits..
Thank you for watching!
what about for a 75 year old guy. Your thoughts.
@@richardackerman838 go for it, you’ll be happy
The thumb throttle is a bit. I prefer handle throttle that does cruise mode after a hold for a few secs.
it is now $2300.....hard pass
It says that on the site he's showing. Just wait for sale and use some form of common sense.
My very old electrical bike is heavy throttle controls but I love it had it for 5 years 68 years young there the best I would consider this one 😃
nice! happy riding :)
you bring up the 203mm rotors a lot in the video but you mentioned the website said it comes with 180mm rotors.
I need to wait for mine to come in the mail to confirm, but it may be that they only measure the inner circumference
Just got mine, 180 mm rotors
Thanks for the coupon code btw
So this is one of the genuine "Fair Weather Only" designs.
my Valk🚲XT7 never a problemo in rain⛈storms

Is that a threat. When are you complaining about Audi, BMW, Mercedes. That stick down signals left.
Wouldn't the battery last longer with thinner tyers/tiers ? Surely, more rubber on the road creates more drag.
correct, tires take away from efficiency
Don't spend a lot on a 1st ebike. Break something on one & you may wait months for a
model specific part. There are plenty of inexpensive bikes that perform well & will last a
long time if you take care of them. You're gonna make mistakes. Get something that's
a bike 1st that happens to have a motor, something for which generic parts are available.
on the face of it your advice appears sound. may I tap your experience and ask for examples?
@@joe18750 Valk🚲XT7 6400km+👍
Give a few examples please of cheaper very good bikes please, it will be my 1st one. Thankyou!
I will be reviewing a mid drive on the channel soon
Mid drive requires more maintaince?
@@Bir_Singh not much more, but you do need to clean the chain
@@TailHappyTV but mid drive vs hub mid drive is better right?

Hey how do you remove the electronic limiter on the e bikes I wanna remove mine but I’m not handy in electronics
Very uncool not stopping at the stop signs. That is why drivers hate me and other bicyclists. Please be a better ambassador.
Damn bro chill 😭
In some states bikes are not required to stop at stop signs, but they must yield. Therefore an empty intersection with stop signs can be ridden through without stopping.
@@ShutterContinent I was not commenting on the legality. I was commenting on the perception of drivers and especially the bike haters.
Whaaaaa! What a nerd
You by far provide the best bike reviews! Thinking about moving on from my 2022 Core-5 and this might be it. Great price, fat tires and much better mileage than the Core-5. Not to mention better brakes and includes the rack and suspension fork. Wonder how it holds up after time..
This is a great deal especially with that huge 20ah battery and hydraulic brakes. The battery alone is worth at least $600.
Definitely!
QUESTION: when doing your 20% hill climb, do you always have the bikes in a certain gear?
hub drives do not utilize the gears not he bike, but I usually shift down to 1 in case I need to pedal to help it
I don't know much at ALL about Electric-Bikes, but then I started to follow and sub you !. Anyway: I ordered this Bike BECAUSE of your review HERE ("I watched it 4 times too") !. Lastly, I hope the Brakes are / and HAVE the larger Rotors, because THAT WAS WHAT Tipped the scales FOR ME / THAT'S why I ordered one. LOVE your "Candor" amid the "real deal" you present / "& I hope my decision was the RIGHT one". Best

That looks like a great bike. I have a Revi Bike that looks awesome, costs a lot more, but has the same performance as this bike. I love it.
You live in a flat area, I would need to change the 8 speed to a 9 speed 11-52 tooth cassette... And a torque sensor would have been nice...
What colour do you recommend?
I guess it really comes down to personal preference. I actually think this bike looks great in the glossy metallic red color shown in this video personally.
@@TailHappyTV tru, the red really stands out in the video. Sadly it's only step thru 😭 (for context I have to carry my bikes up stairs and the carry handle is convenient)
@@Hungry_God dude with a throttl I would never carry this thing upstairs, you can just use the throttle and it will drive right up beside you
