The best camera review channel on the internet. Period.
Thanks!
This is UA-cam. Not the internet 🤣😂

Excellent review! I love the fact that you decided to split it into two parts. A lot of UA-camrs tend to focus on video, but I am more interested in stills photography, so thank you for doing that.
This is by far the best video comparing the R6 versus the Sony. Im grateful you took so much time to do these test, Mathieu
This is what i was searching for!!
Such a great video.. Appreciated this big effort and ideas.
Excelent review! Great job and thanks for the effort!
Truly grateful for this review man, thank you.
Good idea splitting the video away as I shoot almost no video so have little interest in that part of any review.
Thank you so much for the detailed comparison!
Thank you Matt for the comprehensive review!! I was really considering the R6 vs A7iii. But ended up with an A7c. Bought it used using the link in your website to BH. The face/eye detect on the A7c is ridiculously good! Thanks for the great website and videos! Happy New Year to you and Heather!
Thank you for the support!
What a great video. I am glad I found your channel. You now have a new subscriber! The best review of any that I have seen!
Merci pour ce nouveau test complet, comme toujours. Les meilleurs selon moi. 😉 Bonne et heureuse année 2021!
Merci! Bonne année à vous aussi!
So impressed with the comprehensiveness and objectivity of your reviews. I'm getting back into photography and shooting birds. Trying to figure if I should build on my 4/3s or take a new direction.
Fantastic comparison, keep up the amazing work!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great Review. Thanks 👍
Nice video man. thanks I`m gonna get R6 this week
Amazing job. Big THANK YOU :)
If looking at the camera itself, R6 might be better. However, considering the value and lens selection, SONY is still the clear winner as a system. I came from Canon and love their ease of use, but I will go for SONY for the Tamron, Sigma or Samyang lens alone. Canon really need to open themself to third party manufactors now. EF lenses are showing their age now, RF lenes are too expensive.
Lenses stick around, the bodies come and go. The RF lenses are pushing the industry forward and the RF mount is here to stay for a long long time. The e-mount is flawed with a smaller opening and shorter flange distance that doesn't allow for the type of innovation we have already seen from canon and certainly will see from third parties. With Red and Arri adopting the RF mount it's clear they have chosen the winner.
When you say Low Light ....Do you mean between 5/8pm or 6/9pm ...during Spring / Summer when the nights last longer 730/945pm or later ??
I have a Sony DSCHX350 ....I managed to get some quality captures at distance in the dead of night after 12am .. with only the light of the fire as my only form of light , When i was out capturing the Moon
fabulous vid. thanks for the effort and the sharing. i am an appreciative subscriber. i am looking at the A73 because i am interested in sony's A7C which is a furthering of the 2yr old A73. stay well.
Best on the internet. THANK YOU!
Great review
Wow - great detail in your comparison. Impressive.
Thanks!
Mathieu ,thank you for very good and informative review. Can I conclude from your review that if I'm shooting sports and architecture and I don't have lens of each system yet and I want to go with one of this brands, the better decision will be R6? Whish you a productive and happy 2021 year.
Happy new year to you too. The R6 has a better AF so it will give you something extra in terms of performance when it comes to sports. As for architecture, I think it is more the lens that can make a difference. Canon has already a good selection of pro lenses, but the Sony system has much more to offer at the moment (from Sony and third party brands). Of course if we include Canon DSLR lenses, then you have more choice for the R6 as well.
Wow, nice review, very thorough in all aspects. I love those tables of comparison. Thank you very much for the video. I do click the subscribe button and like button. :-)
Thank you!
This is hands down the best camera chanel on youtube i appreciate everything you do! Keep up the good work 👏
Thank you so much!
Excellent, thanks
Genius Review !!
Hi! For commercial Photos, products, branding, which of both are better? Thanks
Honestly, I think they can both do an excellent job. I would imagine lenses and lighting can have more of an impact with the genre of photos you described.
For the last few months I have been using a Sony a6400 and I have been using the Sony Picture Profiles ("PP's") to take still pictures. I eventually realized that this is a lot more significant than I thought. For me, the point has been that I could simulate what the "PP" setting would be like when making a video by taking a still picture and analyzing it. Moreover, as far as I was concerned, if I take the time to process the RAW, then in theory, there is never going to be a picture that I can take using the PP's that I could not replicate from the RAW. But when you look at all the adjustments available in the PP's it seems complete. That is to say, it appears that I might have every adjustment that a camera manufacturer has to work with when defining a "look". Since there are 10 PP's, I can set aside some for stills. It might be possible that I could "emulate" almost any camera's response and "look" within the range of the sensor's capability -- internally. If this adjustability is in all the Sony cameras that have the PP's, then these cameras are hugely more capable than most people realize, and so far, nobody has mentioned this in a review that I have seen anywhere. It's something to think about. . . .
Awesome review
Very good work, thanks.
Great review, thank you!
I liked your extreme low light test. The exact situation may not reflect real life but testing it lets us know that when the lights go low, at a wedding or other event, which camera will perform and which one may fail to acquire focus.
I liked that you showed the different color profiles. I found with the Canon RP that skin tones developed from RAW in DPP are MUCH better than Adobe ACR. Adobe looked like trash compared to DPP. I wonder how if it's the same with the R6 and DDP vs ACR?
I agree, skin tones are better on DPP when opening the RAW files, with Adobe you need to tweak the settings to achieve a good result. DPP basically emulates the picture style found on camera, whereas Adobe has its own set of colour profiles.
@@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons I haven't figured out how to get the same sort of skin tones in ACR as DPP. If you have that figured out and make a video I'd watch it! :)
Hi mathieu Gasquet
How long does canon eos r6 battery life last
Compare to canon eos r5 and also the Sony a7 Mark iii body
The Sony is sligthly better. For example after taking nearly 2,600 pictures of the red kites with the R6, the battery charge went from 100% to about 64%. The A7 III can do a bit better than that (around 70%).
Can't say about the R5, I haven't tested it yet.
Thank you Matt, outstandingly thorough. If you were choosing between the A7RIII and the R6, what would your personal preference be? I'll be using it for both landscapes and fast children lol. Thanks again, sub'd.
The R6 has a better AF for fast children, otherwise the A7R III sensor is superb for landscapes. I guess it depends which genre is a priority. Also consider the lenses. There is more choice with E-mount than RF mount at the moment.
Thank for the great video, what do you mean by “Canon shutter life is very short?” Do you mean Canon shutter will tear down sooner than Sony A7III shutter? I heard that Sony A7III has shutter failure issue. Look forward to hearing from you soon
The shutter lag is very short. ;-)
Great review Mathieu thank you very much. I have a question for you if you can help me. Do you think that the sensor readout of the R6 using electronic shutter for photography is much slower than the R5? I am interested because I use silent mode for street photography and try to understand if I will get any distortions if I use the electronic shutter for it. I saw in some websites that the R5 scans the sensor quite fast (15ms or around 1/60 of a second I think). Thanks again, I love how you create standardized scores that we can use to compare cameras. Great work.
I have yet to try the R5 so I can't give you a feedback about the electronic shutter vs the R6. Overall I find the performance of the R6 very good, but there can always be occasional distortions if something happens very fast, like for example if you quickly turn your camera towards a scene and take a picture while moving the camera.
@@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons Thank you very much I appreciate your feedback
What do you think about the newborn session in the studio. Is it better Sony a7 III or Canon r6?
I have no experience with that genre, but I think they can both do a very good job. If you shoot RAW, the differences with skin tone matter less. Then it's about the lenses too. Which camera system are you using currently?
Waiting for your Eos R6 vs Sony A7 IV soon! Looking to see if the skin color of the Sony A7IV has improved. Thank you!
Thanks! I pre-ordered the A7 IV but it looks like it won't arrive before December.
Superb review
Thank you 🙂
Hi Mathieu, I like the beginning music and would like to listen for the whole piece. Would you please let me know what its name? Thank you.

I've had reflex cameras for years... About 4 years tired of my canon 80d's performance in low light, I decided to switch to full frame... the obvious choice seemed to be the sony alpha 7 III, for which I had to sell all my kit of canon lenses ... if only this canon r6 existed, I would have bought it. However I really appreciate my sony alpha 7iii, I think that even today the performance of its sensor is unmatched. However, canon has better ergonomics, and overall it remains a camera that makes you feel at home immediately...
Are You French Mathieu ?
Amazing the a7iii is still competing
A three year old camera is still on a equal basis as a new canon... that's good news for Sony users because it shows that high level of the Sony system and I am in anticipation for the a7 IV which will be a worthy successor I am sure. But still the a7 III is a great buy for the money.
Wow, enormous comparison! Thanks for creating this!
grazie 😊
i like how review the camera,. im a canon shooter,. i already wanted to jump ship to sony because canon can't catch up to the technology,. until r6 came out,. but im little hesitant because of the price,. a7iii is much cheaper while r6 is much more expensive,. but i don't really like sony ergonomics and menus, and their touch functions,.
but in specs wise, budget wise,. my wallets says sony sony sony,. but my heart says canon canon canon,..
now im happy to stay in canon system,. probably i just need to wait a little longer for r6 to lessen it's price,.
I have an R6. Really, it’ll be worth the wait.
I feel the same way. I've been a canon shooter forever and want to switch over to mirrorless. I can get sony a7iii 24-70, 70-180 and accessories + adapters for less than r6 with 24-70. I prefer the canon but don't know if I can justify the price of the system.
Am also in the same situation. The cost will reduce in two months time for sure. I will buy R6. !!
As a Sony shooter and very happy with it, I would say stick with Canon if you already have a collection of lenses, as you should be able to adapt older lenses with no issues.
@@Rajupkd what was the price two months ago?
thank you from Russia, Sochi! I bought R6, and my friend Sony A7iii, it was interesting to compare😃🎉
Great to hear!
In the BIF autofocus comparison you were shooting A7 with 1.4x extender and R6 without. The extender always has slightly negative impact on the Autofocus speed and accuracy...
Fuji X-T4 getting higher autofocus score than A7 III is a joke there are many people that has moved from X-T4 to A7 iii just for the autofocus improvement.
Handicapping A7 III with an extender makes his autofocus score irrelevant in my opinion.
No.
I found very little difference, if not any, with the 1.4x attached or not.
The X-T4 score is not a "joke". It's based on extensive tests for a project that has been going for some years now. Have a look (if you're really interested):
mirrorlesscomparison.com/best/mirrorless-cameras-for-birds-in-flight/
@@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons I've noticed that the firmware versions of the cameras tested (A7 III and A7R III) were very outdated - pre X-T4 release. I can't find another review or comparison that puts x-t4 ahead of A7 III when it comes to AF.
I test the cameras again if the new firmware clearly states an improvement with AF or another relevant spec.
In the case of the A7 III, the only interesting update was firmware 3.0 with Eye AF for animals, but it doesn't work with birds.
The X-T4 is ahead by 2%, but only with a specific combination of settings (which includes the 1.25x crop mode in burst mode with the electronic shutter). The average rating of the X-T4 indicated in the article is lower: 68% / 90% (average of various combinations of setting tested).
In other words, the X-T4 can do very well if you pick the right combination of settings, otherwise the peformance can be a bit disappointing. The A7 III, on the other hand, doesn't need much configuration for the AF to work at its best.
Also, this is a specific test for birds in flight. If we talk Eye AF for humans for example, I find the A7 III to be better and more reliable.
Very good...
R5 vs a7siii
This is exactly what I was waiting for ! I also like the slower pace, the side by side comparison , easy to understand, pleasant and relaxing ! Bravo !
Thank you!
Hello, thank you for review! I think that it is more interesting to compare Canon R6 with Sony A7C. Sony A7C has better autofocus, better skintones, than Sony A7 III.
And it is more and more interesting to make a review with comparing Canon R6 with Panasoni S1 or S5. About Photografy and about videography. I will be very glad to see it)
Also I would be happy to get to know your instagram, so I can write you a message))
Thank you!

Low-light performance good a73 R6 tell me
You can see various examples in the video.
Canon....but that small 20 megapixel sensor....why.....why!
Sony 3 times cheaper and still better
You don't do math
👍🏾🙏🏾
heavy dose lol..good job
I’ve owned both, but decided to go with Sony because the GM lenses are SO much cheaper than the high end RF glass, which is ridiculously overpriced. And that new 35mm GM lens is insane!!! I also feel that Sony is just always going to be a step ahead of Canon in terms of innovation. The A7iv is gonna be a R6 killer!
I'm currently planning to buy a camera so I know I won't be wronged with the Sony A7iii but will A7iv launch anytime soon
Thank you for helping me to make up my mind!
The camera that can record more than 15 minutes, without bursting into flames.! Is the winner 🤣😂
I have EOS R6 and have to say that R6 definitely kicks A73's ass in every respect. What a shame, Sony fanboys.
It’s almost like the a73 came out three years ago. I’m not a Sony or canon shooter but I will bet the a74 will blow the canon out of the water once again.
Every respect? The A7iii doesn't overheat and can record video on dual cards (the R6 can't do that). In every other regard, the A7iii holds its own against the R6. The price is also much, much better! So, there's no reason to troll Sony users because it took Canon so long to catch up to the competition. I mean, the R6 is one of Canon's newer cameras, yet cameras 3 years older than it are just as good. Talk about being a fanboy. (Another note: the A7iv will be out soon, and will probably run circles around the R6)
@@adventuretimephotos2423 Waiting for SONY A7IV
Yeah a7iii won't last 3years if your a photographer,. So many shutters breaks already,. And sony is currently on lawsuits because of poor quality camera's,.
