I discovered Pentangle in April 2021 after the UA-cam algorithm suggested Rain and Snow from Set of Six. What a great live performance that whole show is. I hope very much we will get to see every song from this 1982 appearance!
late 2020 for me and it was Willy O Winsbury
.
I was a big fan of Bert and John even before Pentangle was formed!
The Set Of Six is a fantastic show. Material from Salomon's Seal and overall better performed live on television than in the studio. Jacqui' s vocals on Willy is outstanding and I love Rain and Snow and The Lady of Carlisle without Bert' s harmonica. The best track on the show is without doubt People on the Highway. Greetings from a Swedish Pentangle - freak who tries to write in English! ❤
Jacqui: "I'm choosing my trousers for the TV performance tomorrow afternoon. What colour is the background of the studio?"
"It's turquoise".
Jacqui: "Right-O!"
I thought Jacqui had hit her peak in the 70s. WRONG! This is stunning! WHAT A BAND!
National treasure of English music 🙂
I grew up with these beautiful voices 🙌✌️🎶
Jacqui and Bert, the Beauty and the Beast of vocalists.
Brilliant - sounds inspired by the Carthy/Swarbrick arrangement.
Pentangle for ever! Thanks!!
Top flight musicians all of them. Jaqui's voice is exquisite. I love her harmonies with Bert on the last verse reprise Where's Terry? I know he didn't play on this track, maybe glockenspiel? But I don't see a drum kit set up. I met Danny Thompson in a shopping centre way back in 1994. I stopped and had a chat with him. Lovely humble guy. I was holding a door open and there he was behind me with his wife.
Terry had broken his leg I think. John left the reunion fairly soon after this. Pity...
@@MrJameswingham Thanks for the information James. Terry was a fantastic drummer. What a band! Love The Pentangle as much as l loved, I and still love The Incredible String Band. Polar opposites of the folk scene but both amazing in their own right.
Terry did not play that August with them on the Cambridge folk festival as well, he was injured from a car accident, this video is great! Can you post the other songs please?
@@avishy938 Glad you enjoyed it! There's more to come
Danny is such a gent
never tire ever of PENTANGLE
This is the Tangle without Terry. And great fun to see Bert and Jacqui sing Sovay together. Jacqui is - as always - in her own class. ❤
Quadrangle?
@@randallhoole4208 Good idea!
In august 1982 the Pentangle with out Terry played Cambridge folk festival twice, i wad there, it was just amazing, wish there will be videos of that, there were cameras filming!
This is one of their best tracks, and my god they have so many gems. What masters of their craft.
Unfortunately this came on in the wee hours of the morning and I missed it. I've been a fan of Pentangle for over 50 years and am disappointed it is not being left up to watch and especially HEAR. Drat! Boo-Hiss! And especially... Sigh... This is most cruel, straight out of Brutontown.
Hi David! You should be able to watch the video, it's not being taken down. Thanks for listening for all these years!
@@PentangleOfficial Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Unfortunately, all I can find is the Sovay track. I thought there was a full concert from that date in 1982. My mistake. Thank you.
Pure genius!
Estou no aguardo...
Música boa vale a pena esperar.
Le meilleur gtoupe folk celtique
What a gem! R.I.P. Bert and John.
Incredible.
Spectacular!
I was in Indiana then, little knowing I’d go to UK a year later and meet Bert Jansch.
Can't wait
Bravo!!!
melody lines in Berts picking no east task while singing
I think Terry Cox had been in an accident, they played Cambridge without him and then Played the Barbican with him, able to play but not able to
walk about
Is not it from the Cambridge folk festival?
Hi Avishy! This performance is from the BBC programme Six Fifty-Five Special presented by Sally James. It is from around the same time as the Cambridge Folk Festival performance though🙂
This is just beautiful, i saw the pentangle with out Terry on that August in Cambridge 2 times, was a pure joy, they were great.
'promosm'
Pentangle for ever! Thanks!!
