ETSY have buyer protect programs,if the node have the problem you can get the refund.but the cutting has 2growth points and you also found it after talked with me,I also upgraded your package form usps first class to express to make you get the package before thanksgiving.I don’t know why you still post that wrong informations.I am so so so so so sad !
Hi there, what wrong information am I posting? You could have privately messaged me on Etsy instead of a public place but since you're here... I have the details of our conversation. You said you "think" I will see new growth pop out in 2-3 weeks. That's not very reassuring when your listing said "active growth points." I said I can see what you're referring to but I wasn't confident in what I was looking at and that it was very hard to make out. You did say you would refund if it wouldn't grow but that's the point I was trying to make. I should haven't to wait to see if it would grow, it was misleading. I just didn't want a dead plant ya know? I actually paid for USPS priority, not first class and if you upgraded to express then I wasn't aware. I got the plant in 2 days that's all I knew 😅 but that's besides the point. I'm not dishonest and my reviews are always my thoughts and opinions. I just don't appreciate the cutting I was sold - I haven't even left you a review or even asked for a refund so I don't appreciate that you're accusing me of lying.
Commenting on someone’s video because someone was not happy with the “it SHOULD grow, and if not I’ll refund you” is shady. Period. Melissa sorry you even had to deal with this and this is why I try and stay away from Etsy.
Oh and FYI. I work for USPS I’m a rural carrier (RCA) and “first class” is a very small weight , there is NO WAY that you could even of sent that “box” first class of you wanted too. SHADY
Thank you!! This is exactly was I was hoping someone would get from this video! Some sellers can be sneaky and if you go into knowing what to look for you can avoid certain outcomes!
Honestly, while watching your video I was thinking to myself “Damn I wish she wouldn’t have posted it” because even before coming to the comments I knew there was going to be some hate. With that being said, I believe your reaction and feelings are completely valid. I’m honestly so happy and proud to see how transparent YOU were through all of this. It takes a big person to show every side to what happened, for instance when you realized that you may have overreacted and that there may be a node. I truly hope there is an update with some good news ❤
Thank you! There's 1 tiny growth point but took awhile for it to pop out. I'm happy I still posted it. If I would have seen the growth point initially I would have been totally happy and this whole situation would not have happened. I hope she changes future listings from this :)
I bought a monstera Thai con from Gina and it was absolutely the best packaged plant I’ve ever received. I am sorry you got the scare I hope it grows for you
I ordered that exact silver hoya from papercrane! They’re also where I got my Queen anthurium, variegated Frydek, and mexicanum. For next time, I *highly* recommend them! They have given me a free plant every time I’ve purchased, their packaging is impeccable, and they have a wonderful policy for damaged plants and all that. 11/10 recommend. Okay, back to watching the rest of the video now lol 🖤
I live just north of Seattle, so based on your comment I checked them out and now I just impulse bought a strawberry shake rooted cutting! 😮 Good news is there were pictures of the new axillary bud 👍
Don't feel bad! I learned so much from this unboxing. It was terrible shipping, packaging was awful. I now know more what to watch for and what to avoid so thank you for that!
The reasons for your feelings were valid. It was an expensive cutting. The seller should have been more transparent. The packaging and lack of information was a little sketchy. She needs to up her game a little bit. Hope she's learned something through this. Thanks for the informative video. Hang in there. Hopefully it'll sprout a new leaf and there will be a happy ending. Hope you're feeling better.
Thank you soo much!! I'll leave a review here once I get a little more growth because I do hope it will help someone else or maybe give her some insight to change future listings on inactive growth points. I do believe it's a little sprout happening so hoping I get a new leaf in some time here! :)
I think the most important thing here is that she was responsive, communicative, and offered a refund if you don't see new growth. I can imagine it must've been a stressful situation for you -- I hope you see new growth soon and it eases some of your worries! :)
Thank you! She was very responsive and I appreciate that and for saying she would refund but she couldn't guarantee it would grow. If she would have waited a couple weeks to sell it with a growth point all of this could have been avoided. There's a tiny growth point that popped out so I'm happy it's growing and hopefully she changes future listings to reflect what she's selling :)
I don’t think it’s spent, the new leaf will push out between the stem an the bottom of the leaf petiole. Look at it like this, it was a vine, they cut the vine above an below the leaf on a vine, it will push out a leaf. It has good roots. 💚
After seeing what I think is a little growth point last night I feel like it will grow but I just would have appreciated a little more insight on the cutting I guess. I could have messaged beforehand as well but I assumed since it was rooted the growth point was there already. You can't assume it will grow 🙂
I believe your feelings about this are valid. The last thing you want is to spend money on something that’s not worthy. Can’t wait to see what happens next
Thank you!! I feel better it's going to grow but definitely didn't feel that way in the beginning. I'll definitely share when I have more of an update on it!
Your feelings were 100% valid. It said there would be an active growthpoint, and there wasnt one. Simple as that! There was just a node, and all you can do is hope something grows from it, thats not fair at all based on the sellers description! Period
The rollercoaster of emotions in this one... lol I'm with you on everything though. I'd be reacting the same way you did. Even the moment of feeling bad about messaging them 😄 It's certainly a bad cutting so don't feel bad.
Thank you! haha yes! a lot of crazy emotions! That makes me feel better! I felt so bad after we messaged but I still feel like I was right to feel that way :(
You shouldn't feel bad! It didn't start well with the zip tines/packaging and I don't think as a good seller you would sell something like that! I totally agree and don't think you should feel bad!! ☺️
Thank you!! I feel like the cable ties seemed like a lot of work to try and secure the plant. I've shipped several plants before and I always secure the leaves so their protected incase there is damage to the box.
Sorry you're sick. I hope you get well soon. I would've reacted the same way and I would've felt sick about purchasing a plant with a spent node. I've purchased plants locally and within a couple of days they didn't bounce back and they just died. I thought it was just me but I'm slowly learning that not all sellers are honest. I hope your cutting does develop a growth point and takes off soon. I'm in Tallahassee, Florida and my daughter and I are purchasing from The Green Escape on Etsy and have had wonderful shipments and beautiful plants from them. They are out of Merritt Island in Florida.
Thank you so much!! Yes, exactly! Not all are honest which is sad. I've had my share of plant purchase disappoints. Even some local plant shops! There was one before I moved that was known to sell sick plants and I didn't know at the time. I'll have to check out the green escape! Thank you!!
I totally agree with you. Don't feel regretful now, since you addressed the issue with the seller. I learned a valuable lesson. Thank you, feel better soon.
It has a node and rooted, will shoot again but for a while.. Plants would always find a way but that seller should've provided you about that details of that plant and if you still agree to buy it. I hope it will have a shoot for you soon💚
No reason to feel guilty about your sincere emotional reaction. You had an expectation that wasn't met and it left you feeling disappointed. Most of us have experienced that with a product purchased (I'm talkin' about you, wrinkle cream!) or a service vendor used. You learned a good lesson and shared that with your viewers so we could all learn with you. Get well soon!
Great video! That seller is only about 1 1/2 hour drive from me. I'll def not order from her until your update with your cutting! I ordered a Strawberry Shake cutting the end of October is when I received it and when I got it I didn't see a node either. After about 2-weeks of having it I put it in my empty aquarium on a heat mat, plant light and moss to hold some moisture. I kept it in it's little pot that I planted it in. Mine came unrooted. Well just a couple of days ago I see some growth! Some plants like yours can take a long long time to start growing. You may want to place the pot on a heat mat. I closed my Etsy shop (temporarily) but I would never sell a plant that's not actively growing! I'm so anal about things like that! Let me know what's on your wish list because I just may have it! I have gotten quite a few plants from Gabriella Plants. I pay a little more than other sellers but there packaging is top notch and I'm not disappointed with their plants either. I enjoy your channel and I look forward to following your 'spent or not spent node' saga!
Thank you! There's a tiny growth point on the bottom but it's still so tiny! I wished I could go back and tell myself to look for the growth point before I purchased it because I would have changed my mind on buying it and taking a chance on it. I haven't purchased from Gabriella plants before but have heard great things! I don't really have much on my wishlist right now but I wished I purchased the Jacklyn lol in the spring!!
I’ve learned enough about nodes from your videos to comment on this video. I can see why you were upset upon unboxing this plant and felt like you needed to express your frustration to the seller. The cutting you bought should have had an evident active node. I was glad to hear at the end of the video that a node was developing. As an aside, I just returned from a quick trip to the Biltmore Estate where I saw a lot of remarkable plants and breathtaking Christmas decorations. Wonderful destination for anyone who likes plants. I hope you feel better and thanks again.
Thank you!! I appreciate that! Feeling much better today! Ahh love the Biltmore estate! We've been a few times and the Christmas display is beautiful and love the plants inside for sure!!
My thought was the cuttings already been rooted and the grow nodes should pushing out by now. Maybe I was long. Could you get replacement at least? Please keep us updated.❤
I see a tiny growth point starting towards the bottom but definitely hard to make out still but my thoughts exactly! I wasn't expecting to not see any growth points :(
My thoughts on advertising cuttings. I appreciate sellers that fully describe what they are offering and who provide a caution line about the level of experience the buyer should possess in order to have a successful experience with their choice. Just because a cutting is done does not mean it will continue to grow after the boxing, travel, and acclimating to a new environment. So, if you are going to sell something that will require an advanced plant buyer to successfully handle, add that in the item description. I have noticed that some Sellers do that now. Buyers wanting rooted cuttings beware for words like "freshly cut", "lightly rooted " in the hopes of getting a break on the cost of a particular plant purchase by buying chonks and rooted cuttings. I would try to ensure I read "well rooted" in the description for this route of plant buying. I am a beginner and that is what I have experienced. For those who are "advanced " and prepared for a more delicate specimen. I am sure that you still want to pay the appropriate amount for what was advertised and what you receive.
Good points!! I actually like the advanced plant buyer option! I haven't noticed it before but I'll have to be on the lookout. YES, I would be very cautious on freshly cut and lightly rooted - so risky! You sound very knowledgeable for a beginner! 🥰
I get where your coming from. I’d feel the same. I think when you buy cuttings those are the things that should be shown and stated. Rooted vs unroofed growth points nodes, if it was recently cut etc…. 💚🌱💚🌱💚
I think the listing was misleading, especially since it said there was active growth. She probably wasn’t attempting to be sly but miscommunication can definitely come across that way!
Yes, exactly! I don't think it was intentional and maybe she didn't realize what some people expect when they purchase a rooted cutting. I wished I could go back and tell myself to look for the growth point first. I would have definitely changed my mind on the purchase!
I think your first reaction was totally valid. It was an expensive cutting and you had every right to question the seller. Hopefully your plant will be okay 💚
Melissa, my experience one Etsy and other mail order plant purchase, is that they send plants, no one would buy if they saw them in person! Grrr! I have gotten some at no charge after contacting and sending pics of what I received. I don't feel at all bad about it! I just want what I ordered and customer service.
Hi Melissa I hope you feel better soon ❤️ Don’t think you overreact to your purchase I would have hopping mad to be honest, think you did well to keep yourself calm when you wrote the message to the seller (not so sure I could have) You were doing a genuine unboxing video and your feelings were very real at the time and I for one am grateful that you put this content out, some of us can learn from this and know what to look out for Please don’t feel bad you are very sweet person, and have nothing to feel bad about. I have seen zip ties used before to secure plants to the box, but the leaves have been protected with another pot on top (secured) or some other thing to keep them safe.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you saying that! 🥰 That was definitely what I wanted to share and if I can make anyone else more aware then I feel like this all was worth it! I'll have to be more mindful to watch out for zip ties next time! It definitely surprised me!
Yea the zip ties are weird. I've gotten plants from PaperCrane and it's really good. I don't think you overreacted, but I also try not to buy cuttings because I don't like the uncertainty. 🤷♀️
When I've ordered plants in the past, I received bare-rooted plants wrapped up in layers of newspaper so the newspaper helps to protect the plants that I've ordered in the past. So disappointing to see this plant not packed very well. I've NEVER had ties on packaged plants.
This video was very helpful! I was not aware of spent nodes and you definitely educated me tonight with this video. You had every right to be upset especially because of the amount you spent on just a cutting. I hope the cutting shows signs of growth soon and if it doesn’t, I hope that the seller refunds you back.
It's pushing out a tiny growth point but it has taken 2 weeks to show. She was just misleading in her listing and there's no guarantee it would even grow.
I love these trips to Etsy shops with you. Your reasonings are exactly how I talk to myself 😁 although my last shopping trip took me way over budget and some sweet talking to husband. Haha The struggle 😜
haha oops! I've definitely been there before! I try to not spend so much now on plants because I'm pretty happy with my collection but if I can find a smaller cutting for cheaper that I want I'll talk myself into it lol
@@plantsbymelissa Oh sweet Melissa Ive finally watched all the way through. You did not overreact. When anyone pays that kind of money for a cutting there should be no question about the quality you are receiving. I too hope you eventually end up with something viable. Oh and that packaging 🤦🏻♀️
It's impossible to examine the cuttings that close from a picture online. They shouldn't be selling cuttings that she has to circle where growth should come from...it should be visible. That being said..I just started buying plants online ans when I bought one on Etsy and one on Facebook...both times the plant went down hill FAST. I'm rehabbing one now and it's coming around but I've learned my lesson. I will only spend $ on plants from nurseries with great reviews. I've found Orange Lake Nursery and they sell younger plants and all the plants I've bought from them are thriving! Amd their prices are awesome too♡ Don't feel bad. You have a right as a consumer to get your $ worth. I'm sure they've dealt with issues before and with plants it's so easy for the seller to blame misfortune on the buyer...they don't know what they're doing or talking about. But you know when something is wrong. Trust your gut girl!
Thank you! I think that was my biggest issue was that it wasn't mentioned anywhere that the growth wasn't active yet :( I would have purchased a different plant!
Zip ties not known to me. That is weird. Also it was up against the cold end of the box. Not really near the heat pack and I didn’t see any insulation between the plant and the cold wall.
I would totally have reacted the same way - that definitely looked spent. I don’t sell a lot of plants, but when I do, I not only wait for a growth point, but I wait for the leaf to unfurl to make sure the variegation is okay. I’ve been sold a spent node before, back when N’joy cuttings were $50 a leaf in New Zealand. The growth point on it had definitely been cut. I slathered it with cloning paste and, after 9 months, it grew, but it was reverted. I now have a weird full-green plant but I refuse to get rid of it because it cost so much, lol.
Waw. 50 dolars for one leaf? But I think in New Zeland you call Njoy what is known as Marble Queen in the rest of the world. Never mind. I am selling (through FC plant group) one leaf rooted cutting with active grow point for 50 cents (0,50 eur) and rooted 2leaf top cutting for 1 euro. Rooted top cutting of marble queen for 2-3 euro :) Nobody wants to buy. I think they consider it to be too expensive. Last winter somebody tried to sell me same marble queen top cutting for 6 eur.
@@lilliskalinky7120 We also have Marble Queen, but that's a different plant (I have the super white version). N'joy has smaller, differently-shaped white leaves with chunks of dark green sectoral variegation. There's also Glacier/Pearls & Jade, which looks similar. New Zealand has very strict biosecurity rules which mean you can't import plants (unless you're a big commercial seller who can afford the quarantine process) so that makes some plants very rare and therefore expensive. N'joy was recently released commercially and now goes for $5 a node, lol. Someone very kindly gifted me a replacement to my spent node and I paid it forward by gifting eight bunches of cuttings to the local community plant cart, and I have another 50 in moss that I'm donating to the local hospice shop garden centre. So out of that one unfortunate experience came lots of good, eventually!
Thank you! I appreciate that you do that and it definitely makes for such a trusting relationship between the buyer and seller! Sorry that happened to you!
Seeing the disappointment in your face after the unboxing is just sad to see. You looked so hopeful before opening it. I’d feel the same exact way as you with this purchase. You didn’t overreact in my estimation. Rather, you were quite calm looking externally but internally one could feel your distaste for the whole experience. I wish you luck 🍀 with this cutting/node(?) ! Loved that your cats were trying to help you throughout the video. They are all so sweet & adorable! I hope you feel completely better, ASAP. ☕️🫖
PS: Please keep doing these online plant shops as they are most informative. Agree, too, that the way it’s packaged isn’t the way to go. Never seen that before. Feel better soon, Melissa. 🌻
Thank you so so much!! I feel like I'm on the mend finally lol the cold symptoms are dragging though. I tried to stay calm but I was really upset at first, I felt much better after we messaged but still didn't have high hopes for it. I think after seeing a little growth point last night possibly made me feel better so hoping it can start growing soon!
Growth point should have been way more established before she sold it and the packaging was done very poorly. Hmm thanks for making me more aware of what to look for. I now have to go look at my latest Hoya leaf cutting to see if there is a growth point on it somewhere! Just assumed it would grow but guess I’ll see. I only paid $5 for it so not a great loss if not. Keep us updated on this one ok Melissa. Hope it grows for you as it’s such a pretty plant!
Thank you so much! I'm mad at myself for not being more thorough when I was browsing the photo - I could see the cut after I went back through the footage but I didn't notice it. I just assumed it had one. The seller definitely should have mentioned it was recently cut and no growth point had started yet :( I feel a little better now but hopefully it will grow soon. Hoping your Hoya cutting is okay!
I also don’t like how close to that heat pack the leaf was situated. Plants can and do get burned by heat packs. You didn’t overreact. That’s super sketchy. You need to leave more space for the node when you’re selling something. It can grow but the risk is huge. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable leaving that little space on something I’m propagating for myself, and that wouldn’t have to go through the stress of shipping.
I’m so sorry this happened to you! Your feelings are valid ! It’s unethical to sell a cutting that’s spent. File a claim with Etsy they will refund your money!
Thank you! I felt better after I messaged with her and expressed my concern and she assured me it would grow. I think if I didn't see a possible growth point last night I would have contacted her soon to ask for a refund.
Omg, I don't blame you for feeling the way you do! What wait weeks to see if you have any sign of growth, before refunding?! You're way too nice to give a good rating. Lol, Not buying from them! I learned so much from you ❤️
Thank you! Glad I can help! She assured me it would grow or she said she would refund me so it made me feel a little bit better but I definitely worried still. I feel better after seeing a tiny growth point last night. I'm definitely too nice sometimes :)
I paid 9 dollars for my marble/snow cutting in september, but mine still hasn’t got the «right» shape, so it might not be a pinnatum🤔 hopefully it will come with a moss pole tho🤞
Exactly :( If I could go back I definitely would have told myself to look for the growth point or ask before purchasing but I'll definitely make sure for the next cutting I get!
I have mixed feelings on this but I hope your cutting grows well for you. But I was hoping you would buy the baby Jacklyn. I just got mine in the mail today. I wanted to compare growth. 😆 I got it for $45 off mercari. I wasn't gonna repot it but now I'm wondering how it would do in fluval.
@plantsbymelissa You should totally get one. Would make a great gift. But it's a small plant. I almost wonder if it's from tissue culture. The seller usually states that in her listings. This one wasn't. I don't mind but I feel like it should be mentioned. She was an impulse purchase bc of a sale offer. But it's a small baby plant and not from corm.
I regret not getting it now lol but I still really want one and alocasias do so well with me so I might talk hubby into getting it for me for xmas or my bday :) hoping you get yours soon!!
I have had such awful experiences with Etsy. And I feel terrible leaving bad reviews but man they have been awful I keep trying too which is like what’s wrong with me lol. I’ve bought 5 hoya compactas and 4 out of 5 came in terrible condition
oh no that definitely stinks for sure, especially that many! For the most part I have good experiences and I love shopping on there and I take into account the time of year, shop location to me and I know things happen but I don't appreciate them not being upfront with everything :(
Wish someone had something before I bought my first cutting. It was a squammy,no node it is literally one leaf that will always be just a leaf.It was very dissapointing, and yes it was off Etsy.
How can I tell if I have a spent node? I purchased a rooted M. Albo cutting with three leaves and I’ve had it for about 2 maybe 3 months now with nothing happening at all. Idk where a new leaf would even come from.
Will you ask for a refund? Or maybe another plant? Give the lady a chance to make it better? Thankyou for the video. Some of us don’t know what to look for when buy videos. Thankyou 😊
No, I'll be completely happy once it grows just as long as I don't have a dead plant. I'm not trying to get anything else - I don't think she was intentional doing this because people seemed to be really happy with their purchases. I think it was maybe just a bad cutting and it went to the wrong person haha
I'd be dissapointed too with that purchase, its not just you 😆 Idk how someone who grows and sells plants could chop from a plant they are going to sell, and sell it without being sure its an active, healthy, growing plant 😆 thats pretty low.
My last 2 purchases from Etsy never showed up. Both star sellers & zero response to my enquires from both. At least I got refunds from PayPal. You just never know.
I am the seller,It’s a base cutting with 2 growth points.I think buyer has found the growth points after talked with me.Can you verify it? I promised if it can not grow the new leaves you can get full refund.
haha yeah after I looked back at the footage I could see where it was cut on the photo but I didn't see it until after I had the plant in my hand. I wished I would have known before I purchased it! I definitely would have changed my mind!
I'm a scorpio so my internal reaction wouldve been extremely violent 😂 but of course I will play it cool to get maximum damage control. And yes, I wouldve been so mean with my review. Anyway, thanks for this video because it's a very valuable lesson for us beginners. I hope the plant grows for you though. Btw, I am familiar with the first 2 shops you looked at.. the one from Chicago sold me 2 beautiful white wizards 💚
lol I was definitely saying some choice words in my head and I cut out some footage 🤪 I'm glad the video is helpful! It's a lesson for someone buying plants online and one for me too because I definitely won't purchase a cutting again without seeing the growth point!
I really wanted the Jacklyn so I think next time I buy I'll look at their shop again and see what's available! Good to know you had beautiful plants! Thank you! :)
The seller did assure me if it didn't grow she would refund me so I was going to message her again if it didn't. I think if anything, maybe she will clarify whether the grow point is inactive for future listings.
@@plantsbymelissa nice!! Gosh I can’t lie I would of been furious because who wants to have that concern when buying a cutting. We work hard for our money , and people think jist because Etsy has a “buyer protection” we should relax . Uhm no? That’s ridiculous
I feel good today there's a tiny growth point happening but time will tell here but had to wait almost 2 weeks to see which is disappointing but as long as it grows I'm happy!
I love your videos, minus the cat interference, but I disagree. I feel like the leaf was protected with the fluffy stuffing and she zip tied it in place in the box which means it shouldn’t be moving around to damage the leaf. The active growth point, I can’t tell, as close up. So I hope it grows well for you. 🙏🏻
The plant came out of the cable ties though and a little more bouncing around the leaf could have easily snapped - it was already bent as you can tell when I first took it out. I definitely felt this was poor packaging for such a little cutting. She specifically told me after I messaged her that it would take 2-3 weeks to grow so that means an inactive growth point. It was very misleading :(
@@plantsbymelissa I could definitely tell you weren’t happy. I didn’t know if that is just a new way of packaging… What could have damaged the leaf? Was it bouncing around and not secured? I thought I saw you removed it from the zip ties?!🧐 I feel like we can never trust a mail order now. 👎🏻
Yes, you are upset about your purchase because the description was not accurate. It happens. It happened to me several times while buying plants on Etsy and Ebay. I don't like the drama the whole situation has created. If the seller was not ready to help you, you could just dispute the payment with your CCard. End of the story. You are getting your $50 back - and the small business name has been ruined.
Trust me, I didn’t want the drama. I wasn’t expecting the seller to find my video and comment and go behind my back to post our conversation. I posted it to make people aware of the situation and that things like this can happen. I’ve had several people thank me for bringing this to their attention because it will affect how they purchase next time 🙏🏼
@@plantsbymelissa just because you were not expecting the seller to find this video, it is not making OK to post it. By the way, I don’t know who the seller is and never bought anything from them. On another note, your job here is to create videos that get a lot of views and comments, the more comments you get here, the more views the video gets. And Drama always works! I just feel bad for the other side.
Shady. Even if there is a growth point, it certainly wasn’t active if you had to wait 2 weeks to maybe see a tiny bump. You’re feelings are legitimate. Don’t let the seller gaslight you. So shady…
Thank you!! The whole situation could have been avoided if I got what she listed. All I wanted was to see a growth point and that my cutting wasn't dead.
That is not a good cutting, that seller is 100% in the wrong, I’d be disappointed and sending it back and asking for a new cutting. Those sketchy cuttings shouldn’t be happening anymore.
Thank you! I feel so much better about the situation now! I felt really bad after I messaged her and somehow I was wrong for not seeing the node but I wished she was more upfront about it. I definitely wouldn't have purchased it :(
Did you post the whole chat with Gina? I hope you can post the whole story, and that it’s not hard for you. Just put some screenshots at the end of the video, so everyone can know what happened.
It’s a reaction video - it’s how you felt your opinion- then you said she would refund you and she was nice you just didn’t like the cutting no big deal
Oh HELL NO!! I would Definitely ask for a refund! You are absolutely correct, paying $50+ for the plant, you should not have to lose sleep over her mistake?! Get your $$ back and wait til Spring to get exactly what you want. We ALL make bad purchases and learn…the point is we learn! “Screw me once shame on you…screw me twice shame on me” Love your videos Thanks for sharing BTW, she’s on my radar/wishlist also…I’m waiting for Spring maybe the price will drop by then😋
U shud do an update on this later on an let us know how it is doing. Really sad on their approach to how they handled this, on here no less!!! Keep being u girl!
Woah what a content! Absolutely you're not overreacting! I would have broken down completely. Thank you so much for making this content. I learned i need to be vigilant with growth points without even experiencing the setbacks you went through 🤍
Thank you so much! I was so upset at first and turned off filming for like 30 minutes lol. I felt a little better after we messaged but still wished she would have been more upfront about it :(

SHADY
First class MAX is 13oz 😂😂😂😂😂
love this, because for some of us who aren't as experienced as you, it for sure teaches us what to be on the lookout for! 😄
I am sorry you got the scare I hope it grows for you
Glad to hear the Thai came packaged well! Thank you! :)
That was the calmest "mommy is gunna get mad" I've ever heard. My plant has a ton of spent nodes but didn't realize that's what they were.
Okay, back to watching the rest of the video now lol 🖤
awesome!! Thank you! I know I've heard of them before but I can't remember where I head it lol but I'll have to check them out again next time!
No girl this is spent she is totally right
After seeing what I think is a little growth point last night I feel like it will grow but I just would have appreciated a little more insight on the cutting I guess. I could have messaged beforehand as well but I assumed since it was rooted the growth point was there already. You can't assume it will grow 🙂
I do believe it's a little growth point starting but I wished the seller was more clear about that in the beginning :(
@@plantsbymelissa Yes, it would of been nice if the growth point was already established.
@@brooklin_bernek Guess we’ll find out. 😀
I felt so bad after we messaged but I still feel like I was right to feel that way :(
@@plantsbymelissa are you still sad? I think I am sad!
Thank you!!
@@plantsbymelissa it's sad people can't be trusted.
I totally agree with you. Don't feel regretful now, since you addressed the issue with the seller. I learned a valuable lesson. Thank you, feel better soon.
Thank you! Glad I can share and let others be aware :) hopefully, it will start growing here soon!
Please do an update on this .
Melissa; don't feel badly at all, no one should have to wait two weeks or more to see if a plant is going to survive, or have any further growth.
My thoughts exactly! Thank you!! I've been stressed haha even though she said she would refund me I still had doubts :(
It has a node and rooted, will shoot again but for a while.. Plants would always find a way but that seller should've provided you about that details of that plant and if you still agree to buy it. I hope it will have a shoot for you soon💚
Thank you!! Hoping it will soon too!
No, I would of cry! Because it's an expensive plant. I hope you get better melissa.
Thank you!! feeling so much better today!
Get well soon!
haha yes so right! Thank you so much!!
Thank you! I feel better about seeing a tiny growth point - at least I hope it is lol but hopefully in several more days it will pop out more.
Hi Melissa I hope you feel better soon ❤️
Don’t think you overreact to your purchase I would have hopping mad to be honest, think you did well to keep yourself calm when you wrote the message to the seller (not so sure I could have) You were doing a genuine unboxing video and your feelings were very real at the time and I for one am grateful that you put this content out, some of us can learn from this and know what to look out for Please don’t feel bad you are very sweet person, and have nothing to feel bad about.
Big hug to u melissa.hope you feel better sooon..also hope that plant will thrive as it should.. xox
I never thought to look for an active mode but I will now.
I hope something grows, anyone will be upset about having to wait, you will know soon🙏

Thank you for explaining helps with being a newer to buying online !
You are so welcome!
Amd their prices are awesome too♡
Don't feel bad.
@@plantsbymelissa An expensive lesson, for sure!
That black margin Hoya leaves Ike’s like green alligator skin. It reminds me of luggage.
Enjoyed this, please repeat the process soon.
Hope you feel better fast!! ❤
Thank you!! It's been dragging but I feel I'm over the hump lol
Please keep us updated!
Good point! I didn't notice that but it was close to it!
I have my scares with Etsy sellers but so far I’m good. Hope everything works out though.
Thank you!!
I would be very upset, active growth does not mean wait a month and see.
Exactly :( If I could go back I definitely would have told myself to look for the growth point or ask before purchasing but I'll definitely make sure for the next cutting I get!
Hi Melissa- have you ever purchased a plant online from Planterina? Would love any feedback. Thank you!
I haven't actually! I'm not sure what she sells but I'll have to take a look sometime :)
Is there an update to this plant? I’m curious 😅
I agree with you 💯 and.. you kept it classy entirely ❤️
Thank you! Appreciate it! 🥰
I know! I sorta regret not getting the Jacklyn! I still might buy one LOL maybe I can persuade hubby or someone to get me one for xmas 😇
Was it a smaller plant or a corm? I think fluval is great for starting I've been having so much growth on my alocasias!
Alocasia tandurusa is phenomenon when mature, my end year's wishlist 🍺🥰
Wow, sorry that happened to you.
oh no I'm so sorry!! that is terrible and that seller should be ashamed :(
@plantsbymelissa btw,I have ordered from papercranenursery in Oregon and I like their quality
Your feelings and response were
What ever happened to your cutting? Did it grow? Is there an update video?
I've showed it a couple times in my monthly plant update videos! Just one super tiny growth so far
NO, you are not overreacting!
😮where is the heat pack?
How can I tell if I have a spent node? I purchased a rooted M. Albo cutting with three leaves and I’ve had it for about 2 maybe 3 months now with nothing happening at all. Idk where a new leaf would even come from.
Is it a top cut or mid cut do you know? You may have messaged my last video I just posted! 😂
I'd be dissapointed too with that purchase, its not just you 😆
Idk how someone who grows and sells plants could chop from a plant they are going to sell, and sell it without being sure its an active, healthy, growing plant 😆 thats pretty low.
I agree so much with this! I would have been so happy just having a normal cutting lol and no node possible situations. Just be upfront!
So did it grow?
It did
My last 2 purchases from Etsy never showed up. Both star sellers & zero response to my enquires from both. At least I got refunds from PayPal.
You just never know.
Seriously? No response or package! That's crazy! I'm so sorry that happened to you!
I am the seller,It’s a base cutting with 2 growth points.I think buyer has found the growth points after talked with me.Can you verify it? I promised if it can not grow the new leaves you can get full refund.
I have never heard of this! 😮
oh it definitely happens! Always a risk with a cutting but glad I can spread more awareness!
@@plantsbymelissa and I just realized that one of the cuttings I bought in the summer is a dead none 🤦🏻♀️😭

You’ve got more experience than I do but no I don’t think you’re over reacting.
Btw. I doubt there rating was accurate. Imo there are ways to manipulate the ratings?...
I will ask her my money back period thank u for letting us know
I didn't see the cut either. I would be mad as hell.
haha yeah after I looked back at the footage I could see where it was cut on the photo but I didn't see it until after I had the plant in my hand. I wished I would have known before I purchased it! I definitely would have changed my mind!
You’re overreaction is most people on a calm day 🙂
I'm a scorpio so my internal reaction wouldve been extremely violent 😂 but of course I will play it cool to get maximum damage control.
Thank you! :)
That’s a zombie leaf girl and we all know it! That’s awful. You need to contact them asap
I got slammed by someone for calling the Krohniana “Eskimo” even though that was in the name. It’s considered derogatory.
Oh I didn't realize that either!
Contact the company
Yes that’s a spent node. OMG
Spam is out there. People know how to lie well.
Please let us know the shop. They did u dirty
I mentioned the shop a couple times in the video :) NomoreplantsCO
@@plantsbymelissa sorry. I must have missed that part lol. Anyhow, I love your videos.
@@plantsbymelissa exactly, not unreasonable to want to get what you paid for.
I can't go back and edit a video once it's posted. I feel like I explained everything that happened pretty well.
It’s a reaction video - it’s how you felt your opinion- then you said she would refund you and she was nice you just didn’t like the cutting no big deal
😮🥴😬😤😡😑
Oh HELL NO!!
I would Definitely ask for a refund!
You are absolutely correct, paying $50+ for the plant, you should not have to lose sleep over her mistake?!
Get your $$ back and wait til Spring to get exactly what you want.
We ALL make bad purchases and learn…the point is we learn!
“Screw me once shame on you…screw me twice shame on me”
Love your videos
Thanks for sharing
BTW, she’s on my radar/wishlist also…I’m waiting for Spring maybe the price will drop by then😋
I appreciate that! I see a tiny growth point starting but hasn't done much since the video posted. As long as it grows I'm happy!
How much did the spent node cost u?? U have every right to be upset for receiving a dud (or nearly dud). U shud be getting ur moneys worth!
Thank you! Appreciate that! I have a little more hope it will grow now but still wished she was more honest about the cutting :(
U shud do an update on this later on an let us know how it is doing. Really sad on their approach to how they handled this, on here no less!!! Keep being u girl!
Speaking the seller misleading information, your video title is more misleading.
It literally states what the video is about. I wasn't misled 🤷♀️
My title isn't misleading at all but thanks for the comment!
Now i got curious about spent node and checked right away if any of what I have is actually a spent node. It is hard to tell, i have to study this 🥸
It's hard to tell sometimes! you should see a little bump on the stem. Sometimes it's hidden underneath a sheath.
