Thanks much Ed for this video. At 60 yrs old and a phantom flyer, but really wanting the fpv experience, this seems like a very logical step to get me in the cockpit of fpv. My real desire is to just fly and cruise the scenery, no so much about free style or racing. If I really get bit by the bug to fly acro I will get myself another drone that's more capable of handing the abuse. But what a great way to get me into the sky without the expense of buying and owning an airplane, which would never happen for me at this late stage. Great video, I just subd and will follow more videos on your channel. Cheers from Moab Utah !
You are really one of My absolute favorite UA-camrs 👍 I have followed you since the DJI MAVIC 1, and I think you are doing a really great job 😃 Thanks for all of your videos and tips & tricks ✌️ Kind Regards from Denmark
The most sensible description and understanding video I’ve seen so far on this drone Ed. I got mine a few days after the launch but haven’t flown it yet. Most every vlog I have watched about this drone has annoyed me somewhat. They are trying to match it against a race FPV drone and therefore are giving it a unfair review. It is exactly what dji say it is, it is an FPV drone, designed for people like me who want to advance from video drones to FPV. Your review was perfect - giving the drone the credit and justification that it deserves. Well done Ed.
Great in-depth review of this “hybrid” drone. Very well explained and I like how you pinpoint the positive and the negative about it without hurting DJI’s feelings. Haha. Well done.
Been waiting for your take on this drone. And happy I did. Been flying GPS drones 3+ years and have been easing into FPV. Got a transmitter(2), googles and a Tinyhawk 2. Been using the Lift Off sim for over a month. So I feel pretty confident in my skills enough to go try and lose the Tinyhawk in a tree somewhere. Had quite a difficult time binding the drone. Long story short, for me, FPV is now on hold. At least until DJI releases the V.2 of this drone next year(ish). I like things easier than the way current equipment works in FPV. And you make a compelling point about what this drone could be used for and how it could be used. (BTW, I was at a local FPV meet up about 3 weeks ago and got to fly the DJI FPV drone. While I think it's a kick in the butt fun, I can understand why experienced FPV pilots frown on it.)
Great video, I am flying mostly in normal and sport mode but was able to do flips and rolls in manual and control it pretty well in open spaces. What camera angle do you usually set in manual mode. I use around 30 degrees.
Awesome flight Sir. Man that was actually pretty damn good piloting brother Ed Ricker. Keep up the good job. Thanks soo much for sharing buddy. I also have the Dji FPV drone and i am loving 🥰 the sports mode. You just got a big like 👍 and thumbs up 👍. Also a big fan and a Big Supporter here. Just subbed to your channel. Would appreciate love and support Sir. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying.
Ed I wear bifocal glasses. +2.5 for reading. I think ÷ .5 to +1.0 for distance. Not sure what full lens I'd need. And how well those goggles work with eye glasses. I wish I could try a set before I purchase this drone. Ug
I can recognize Raleigh anywhere. Any local groups you would recommend getting up with? Absolutely love flying this thing and wouldn’t mind some like minded friends.
Dorothea Dix Park almost always has people flying out at the big field, and sometimes the areas surrounding it. That's where I started out. Also check out the Facebook groups RDU FPV and Raleigh Rotor Racers.
My thoughts exactly Ed. DJI has gotten me and may other camera drone pilots to get a taste of the FPV world and hopefully realize the drone is capable yet fragile.
Ed if you don't mind me asking what are your rate settings for the DJI FPV? By the way you were the first channel that I ever started watching when I got my first Mavic Pro.
HI Jeremy, you can see a flash of the rates screen at 8:47 in this video. I may have slowed them down a hair since then, but still pretty fast. I'm used to quick rolls and flips with my other radios, but the shorter control sticks of the DJI FPV radio make it a bit more twitchy at faster rates. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos!!!!
It will be very helpful to make a detailed video on how to fly on acro mode. I learn about Mavic Pro from your videos; I wall learn how to fly on acro, also from your videos!!!!
Depends what you're building. If it's a kit that has all the components in a box and all you have to do is solder it together and drop in a pre-made CLI dump, then yes, very easy. But if you start going offroad and try to build your own by researching your own components, program betaflight, and troubleshoot the 100s of things that could go wrong, then lots of research is required. You're right, it's all on UA-cam, but that's still many many hours of research you have to do.

This is the video the masses should be watching about the FPV Drone. Excellent job.
The man’s videos are excellent. I own this drone already and watched tons of videos but this is most concise review so far!
Best review of this product I have seen so far. DJI should have this on their site.
Liked, shared and subscribed. 👍

Experienced people know what it's geared towards, but DJI market it AS a racing drone so it's only fair to pit it against true racing drones

Very thorough video on the drone! I miss your videos, guess I need to turn on my notifications bell. Thanks
this is the guy that introduced me to droning with his excellent none biased videos...too many shills on youtube..great review ed as always.

Good information Ed
Good review Ed, Very good insight thanks
whats the difference between hq and low latency mode? is it just higher frame rates, but lower resolution?
Great video buddy. I will be following you now.
Great review Ed 👍
What is the correct shut down sequence for a DJI FPV drone?

I own one and she is totally different and capable if you are. I honestly recommend propellers guards and one more battery.

@@EdRickerVlogs I meant with Dji FPV :-)
@@d3m3tr3s ooh, yes maybe one day! But luckily it's very similar to other acro FPV drones. Happy flying!
Thanks bro, well done 👍
what about geofencing
It's still there with the DJI FPV drone unfortunately.
@@EdRickerVlogs wow, that's crap then,
is this sub 250 grams?
No it's about 800 grams.
@@EdRickerVlogs thank you
hi i am new to flying drones i just got one of them i am in the uk
2 ½ weeks to get it back (I didn’t crash it in Manual mode) I clipped a cable I didn’t see and broke and ARM!) ($110 for the repair)
👍👍👌
One of the best reviews I’ve seen, its not for me though.
"Doesn't work yet". I like your optimism but I don't see DJI ever giving us video out instead of buying their $700 monitor
Dji FPV.. 👍👍👍👍👍
give me drone plssa
regarding th goggles, I just hate the stock strap, it is garbage...
That was was first to get upgraded for me. Fatstraps is a good company for upgraded straps.
First
Haha someone has notifications turned on!
@@EdRickerVlogs and just happened to have my phone out lol
FPV drones take ZERO knowledge to build. its called you tube. now the knowledge to fly, you are correct sir.
