Moto Picnic

Приєднався 28 бер 2022
I find adventures, big and small, on my favorite bikes. “Moto Picnic” describes a variety of bikes with a basket full of fun times and scenic views which will inspire you to get out and explore. It’s about the journey and enjoying the ride.
GET OFF THE FREEWAY! … enjoy the ride
I recently took a trip from California up to Washington state using only smaller roads. The things that you discover and see are much better than anything you’ll ever find rolling along on a freeway, fighting the traffic and the wind. Royal Enfield HUNTER 350 First Ride!!
Переглядів 16 тис.Рік тому
We came upon the very first delivery of the Royal Enfield 350 and took it for a test ride. This is a great option for shorter riders (5'0" to 5'9") and for beginners, because it's so easy to ride and to handle. But it's got a lot of personality and it's quicker than you might think. And it sounds so cool! Music licensed through ARTLIST

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 GREAT FIRST BIKE
Say man, how tall is Becky if she doesn't mind? This will give me an idea of my own capacity for flat footing the Hunter 350. Thanks for the demo.
@@mrlozano Becky is 5ft 3 and 3/4 inches (1.6 meters) I hope that works! It’s a fun bike
I put an engine guard on my Meteor also, but not for that reason. The headlight is so dim and was dangerous to ride at night I put it on so I could attach some LED lights on it. In 3 years, I have never tipped my bike over. Also, I read some of the comments about picking up the bike and you stated a California Highway Patrolman taught you that was the way to pick it up? I am 67 and have never seen that as a way to pick up a bike. The gentleman that explained the proper way was correct about backing up to the bike putting your one hand on the handlebar and one on the seat rail and backing up using your legs and not your back. I am sure you could google the proper way of picking up the bike. Anyway, not trying to be critical but just want people to know the correct way of picking up a motorcycle. At 67 I would never be able to pick it up the way she did. My back wouldn't let me. But I can do it the way that it was explained. Ride safe and keep it on two wheels. I will attach a link to a video on the proper way to pick up a motorcycle. www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=how+to+pick+up+a+motorcycle&mid=DE31EB6E8AF1E03B678DDE31EB6E8AF1E03B678D&FORM=VIRE

@@xt225 got too close to camera bike as we were testing a camera set-up. He turned late leaving me in on the shoulder. But it wasn’t until then I realized there was zero braking action. @@8ProductionRoad yes, that’s another technique. Especially on really heavy bikes. This technique uses the front wheel as a lever and was taught to us by a motorcycle cop.
Thanks for this great video! I am looking to pick one of these up as my first bike this week. Im 5'6 so taller then the owner but in the weight bracket of the test rider so it is nice to know this will work for someone built like me. I was surprised when I saw the heel shifter I am so excited to have that and to see it comes standard. The Navigation and USB so smart. Im excited to get my hands on this great looking bike.
I think it’s a GREAT first bike, let us know how you enjoy it! Congratulations

The American bike market (and road system) is vastly different than much of the rest of the world. These are exactly the kind of questions riders here ask when learning to ride and faced with heavy 1200cc motorcycles and 115km/hr roads. This bike is an excellent option for those people who are intimidated by traditionally large American (or German) motorcycles. (350cc is a TINY engine in the US.) This video goes to show that it’s still capable. And no… it would not be legal here to put a third person on it. I’m sorry if this seems somehow offensive to you, but it’s been one of most well received videos we have in terms of people having questions. So you’re probably just not the intended audience for it. You probably are already well aware that it’s a capable size. But thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy riding 👍
I went College in My College Days with a Bike Having 11 BHP My College is 35 km Away from my Home ..Soo Updown Distance is 70 km and 70 km plus and it's a economic Bike and i maintain a speed of 60 ,70 km/h on it sometimes 80km/h if I was in Hurry... Still it Runs Smoothly, no signs of power lagging.. Sometimes i used this same 11 BHP Bike in Long Tour's like 110 km 125 km , 200km when I have to gone for my Competitive exams and still reach on Time... Meteor 350 has 18 to 20 BHP May be ...Soo with a pillion, it's like 9 to 10 BHP per person, plus the Roads of USA is Good ...Soo I don't know why some people's Called it Underpowered 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Think about My 11 BHP Bike ...i still have and still it Runs like a Cheetah 🐆 the Bike is 6 years old and i am 26 years old with Bodyweight 70 to 75 kj .... Same Bodyweight as US woman
This is a great example of the abilities of a small bike. And how much you can love that bike. I love this story! 💙 To be fair, not every road in the US is great, but most of them are. And on the freeways it’s common to do 120km/h +, that’s why the Meteor is not really a freeway bike. We use bigger engines so we don’t have to destroy the smaller engine that is always at its maximum. It’s also much smoother on a bigger engine that is working not as hard. But your point is well-made. And that was kind of the point of this video. You don’t have to have a huge bike to really enjoy or to get yourself where you need to go.
I have the 2023 KX 300 all you need is a windshield and a seat concept seat rack, and now you have an adventure bike way more fun to ride super lightweight even with all your gear When you hit any small towns the KX 300 is super zippy and nimble I love that
Agreed. I even rode mine up to the Rubicon and played around on the trail (video coming) Great adventure bike on smaller roads (best way to see the country anyway)
God I can’t wait to change out the seat on my 23 230. 30 mins and it hurts my fat ass
100% understand. This will be a game changer for you, but don’t expect it to be a comfy couch. It’ll take some breaking in. But where you’ll notice it is in the long rides. The fact that you can keep going and you’re ok an hour later. Let me know how it works out 🤘

Best colour on these 350s. It's lovely. The silver Bonnie looks great too.
Yes! She calls it her sunflower 🌻 it’s a great color
What happened to the running in period. !!????¿
A lot of different thoughts on that. My thought is that it keeps the engine from telling you its flaws until it’s out of warranty. Most racing mechanics will tell you to give it the gas to seat the rings and seals well. Listen to your engine. See how it feels. Take it easy when you need to, ride it like you stole it when you feel like it. And realize you have a 3 yr warranty (which is void if you don’t do the first scheduled service). Royal Enfields are “Built like a Gun” right 😉.
Becky, LOVE the bright lemon yellow color! I'd have the fenders painted to match?🤓👍❤️ If it can't get done, I won't waste my money buying a bike I can't put my customizations to it! Doug😊
Thanks! Customizing is definitely a fun part of it. This bike I call the “Sunflower”.
@@motopicnicmotopocnic, I was bummed out that the 650-as far as I know, can't be done on the 650 super meteor. I just found a video where a "mini batwing" fairing & the saddle bags were available! 🏍️ It will be "a day that will live in FABULOSITY"!!🤓😁 Doug
@@douglasradowick508 the 650 was done on the meteor and there is one here I’m going to do a video on it, however, it’s not like the meter. It’s more of a cruiser and really doesn’t look like a bigger meteor. It looks like a completely different bike. And it’s heavy.
@@motopicnic Becky, I will keep my eyes peeled for your next video series! Wow, you can turn right on a red light.. something you cannot do without the green filter in the UK.
Yes, it’s very handy. We can also split lanes in some states, so go right to the front at a stop light. This is actually safer, because you get out in front of the pack and can distance yourself, plus you don’t risk getting rear ended and stuck between two cars. 👍
Also in Oz, I noted traffic lights omitted the amber turning to green which made sense. The UK is full of 'amber gamblers' and rear shunts. A backwards country for its narrow roads, unsubstantial motorways, road works. Too congested.
Very nice little review. Any update regarding longer time on the road?
Thanks for asking. I did do an all day ride up to and into the Rubicon which will be an upcoming video. It was way better than stick but I was still sore after 8 hrs. I have been on other bikes and recently got back on this one for some local exploring and I’m finding the seat to be more comfortable than I remembered. I still recommend it.
@@motopicnicImpressive. 8 hours is a long time.Now I just need to decided to get a KLX or a 300L 😀
@@BMRTV 😂 That’s a good problem to have. For me it came down to the suspension. Not that you couldn’t swap that out. I’ve already put different handle bars, foot pegs, and tires on my KLX.
@@motopicnicThe suspension is the big win for the KLX. I've seen videos of NolanRides jumping his (big air) and it handles it. I don't do anything like that, but it's nice to know it can. I keep going back and forth. I do ride 1-2 hours pavement each way to the trails (highway / freeway) so the L's 6th gear sounds nice.
It's a pretty little machine and certainly great value for money. I regret that something exactly like this wasn't available when I was learning to ride in the mid 1980s. Many Japanese bikes had some similarities and the old RE 350 Bullet was available but the Hunter is something else. I'd love one as a second bike. My current bike is a 2019 Continental GT 650.
Yes, that would’ve been great. There were small interceptors and ninjas, and this isn’t a lot different than a 500 Nighthawk. But yes, this would’ve been a great 80s bike.
Beautiful Roads 🛣️ This video makes mind calm n happy..... thanku bro

Very good review with pinion rides. You proven that Royal Enfield Meteor can carry triple weights!
I'm 6'2", about 200 pounds and my 250cc (actually 223cc) transports my wife and I at legal speed limits with no problems.
Gearing other things, obviously play a factor in that, but yeah, it’s totally possible. 👍
Before the 250 I had a 150cc. It was gutless going up one very long steep hill. Otherwise my wife and I rode it all over.@@motopicnic
@@thededicatedbiker I actually like smaller bikes for doing trips together, it’s really just a fun way to get around and not feel like you’re in a hurry and not fight the bike. But yes, a 150 is just tough getting up the hills
I'm a bit of an anglophile. My favorite shows growing up were Monty Python, Doctor in the House etc. I prefer the size (bike size not necessarily cc's) of British bikes over huge (in my opinion over sized) American bikes like Harley's and Indians. Where I live the average bike is 150cc. Big bikes (350-1000) just spend a lot of time sitting at signal lights.@@motopicnic
@@thededicatedbiker well said!

Thanks for this video. I’m returning to biking after 30+ years and have ordered a blue meteor fireball. Delivery next month. Let the fun begin!
Awesome!!!! That’s a great return bike. It’s amazingly comfortable to ride and I think you’re just gonna have a great time. Congratulations.
Can i drive my meteor 120 km/h on highway. I know it's cruising speed is 90-100 km/h, but thats little bit slow to stay in pace with other bikers when we go on some tour... I want to ask, is it problem to drive constantly 120 km/h wit meteor 350 or it will damage the engine
This is a great question. I don’t know how heavy you are or how much luggage you would bring but it all factors in. The thing about taking the bike to its max is that, yes, it will wear faster and it won’t be as smooth as a big bore bike that is not working as hard to hold speed. You can absolutely ride with your buddies, but they might outrun you at times and you’re not going to have the extra power to zoom out of the way in traffic once you’re at freeway speeds. But can it be done? Absolutely. And if you ask Becky, she’ll tell you it can be done comfortably, but she wants a little more power when we’re going up the mountains and there are hills. She did get a more powerful Himalayan, and noticed the difference, but she’s so comfortable on that Meteor, that she still chooses that on long rides. I would not be afraid to go ride with your friends and just see how it goes. But if you end up doing every ride like that, you’ll probably want to get a bigger bike eventually. But if you commute back-and-forth to work and occasionally do a long freeway ride, then your meteor is probably a fantastic bike to keep. As for Becky and I, we choose not to take freeways when we can because we find that there’s more to see, and the roads are more fun to ride with a few curves. The meteor has plenty of power to do that with.
@@motopicnic i'm in mc (club) our agreed cruise speed on highway is 120 km/h but as i know, thats maximum speed for meteor 350, I have 85kg and my wife have 60, but she dosen't go every time with me. Is it a problem for enfine to drive it at maximum spedd for few hours? Do you have any advise?
@@petarbudija5575 I don’t think it’s a problem at all tor a few hours. But it may not be easy to keep up with the both of you on the bike. And you’ll notice more vibration, so it may be a more fatiguing ride. I suggest trying it on your own and see how it feels before adding g a passenger. But your weight is not too excessive for that bike.

Sorry, I didn’t see this earlier.. thanks for watching. Here is where you can buy her shirt www.gofastdontdie.com/collections/clothing

I’ve enjoyed all your videos but this one really is not correctly teaching the proper way to lift any bike. You should ALWAYS back up to the bike grabbing the down side handlebar and the seat rail to evenly distribute the weight. Then starting with your knees bent, walk backwards lifting the bike as your legs straighten. Lifting the bike facing it like Becky did can lead to serious injury. Ride safe and keep up the good work.
Thanks. We were taught this technique by a California Highway Patrol officer 😂 Apparently, bikers fall over the other way and end up stuck on their backs on a hot engine. 🤷🏻♂️ Best not to drop the bike in the first place. But yes, thanks for your caution. You can absolutely pull something without caution. That’s no joke.
Why do you struggle so much that you end up being so cringe??? Just be yourselves...
😂 If you think that’s cringe, you would HATE us in real life… that’s how we are (but we tame it for the camera) None of that is scripted. In fact, we showed and saw these bikes and made this impromptu video, because there no other reviews on it yet. 🤷🏻♂️ we are genuinely that excited. It sounds like maybe you’re from Portland?
Thank you for this video, this has help me. I think the Meteor 350 is the bike I should get for myself.

@@stiingya I’m not really sure what trails you are talking about. Those are fire and logging roads we rode on. They do not close except for snow. And a dual sport is a plated vehicle. That was the point. I’m sorry if your local experience has been different.

That’s absolutely true. Great bike for that.
I usto have both bikes 21 Yamaha tenere 700 and a 23 klx 300. I ended up selling the Yamaha tenere and getting a 23 Yamaha MT 10. So I have a road bike and a off road bike that’s still able to ride on roads.
